Most expensive and the worst microwave – This is a terrible microwave. Do not buy it. We had the inverter fail within 2 years and the repair company tried to charge us despite having 10 year new magnetron warranty. They tried to trick us into paying an additional $200 to repair it. We've taken it home and within the next 6 months it developed a very large Rust spot in the back right hand… Read more
corner started arcing and now doesn't work anymore. I've never had such a terrible, more expensive microwave. This is the most expensive microwave currently on the market.
Had enough of this microwave! – Initially, I loved everything about this microwave. However, after 18 months, the front touchpad was unresponsive. The touchpad inside the door would work but when you close the door, none of the touchpad components would work. We did the old trick of turning it off and turning it back on again and it actually worked. But, this was becoming a… Read more
regular occurrence and to try and lift it out of the designated space we had for the microwave was impossible for just one of us to do. So if it happened and I was home by myself. I was without a microwave. It is now just over 3 years old and after having to do this on a nearly monthly basis, I've had enough and am going to buy another microwave. I tried googling to see if others had the same issue and came across other negative reviews. Which is a real pity as I've not had any problem with it overheating or anything else, just this non-responsive issue.
Lemon – Bought this in July 2020 after reading reviews and within the month returned it for a replacement as it had a high pitched sound within the first 5-10 seconds of operating. The replacement had the same issue. Bought the extended warranty on it which expired in July this year and coincidentally, in august it stopped heating. Everything else still… Read more
behaved like it was working but zero heating happening. So now have to purchase another microwave and will NOT be looking at an LG. Other bits we dealt with were the poor quality of paint - only ever use microfibre cloths but the matte black paint comes off and it doesn’t heat in 5 second increments which is a pain for some things. The inverter defrost always cooks the food so we stopped using it - even though we’d weigh the food and set it correctly.
Almost burned my house down – These microwaves work well for a little while, then they always die. The main issue is the control panel on the door. It always becomes unresponsive. I have had 2 of these replaced due to the same fault. My third replacement was the same.. after a while the door became unresponsive unless you switched the unit off/on at the power. After a… Read more
week of this happening, the microwave decided it would start counting up in time and turning itself on all by itself without us touching it.
One day it counted up to 90 minutes and turned itself on while i was in another room and the only way i knew was from the smell. It was on fire inside. If i wasn't home i'd have no house! This is a serious problem and needs to be looked into.
Doesn't even sit flat – We purchased this today from Good Guys (note this was actually the MS42960MBB version which isn't on here) - we found that the microwave just slid across the composite stone counter-top... thinking that something had fallen off, we checked the foot, but it seemed to be as intended. The front right foot(rubber ) was solidly connecting, the back… Read more
middle foot (rubber) seemed also to be connecting properly. The front left foot (rubber) was barely touching - as was the rear left (metal). The rear right was about 2-3mm from the surface. This meant that if you touched the left front of the microwave, it would tend to slide along the counter-top - leaving a a black mark on the composite stone top from the underneath of the metal rear foot. There is no "levelling" possible. This is a perfectly flat - solid counter-top... there is no reasonable excuse for this not to sit properly other than manufacturing fault. As an aside, we also didn't like the fact that when we opened the (fully sealed) box there were finger-print marks on what was supposed to be a new microwave. Something was not right. We haven't even turned this on - as for us, this is unacceptable quality - so we can't comment on the overall quality, just the build quality (as we are currently looking to have this unit replaced).
Unresponsive, counts UP instead of down, burns food – Obviously this model is faulty but even prior, the unit was unresponsive at best. The "Touch" buttons are a nightmare and should be discontinued. The microwave from the 70s (yes 50 years old) from panasonic is better. Seriously bad equipment. 10 Year warranty? Needed it in 2. Such poor quality. 2 added stars for LG assistance via email. Would rate this 4 stars only as they could not send a replacement out themselves which is reasonable. Show details
A Very Nice Microwave – We recently had to upgrade our fridge because it had died, and we then needed a new microwave because the colors of the appliances no longer matched, apparently. Our new fridge is an LG in Matte Black, so we decided to get the LG Microwave also in Matte Black to match, and it turns out to be a very good microwave. I'm a simpleton when it comes to… Read more · 1
cooking, so the thing I love most about it is the quick-start buttons on the front. Put in your leftovers and press the start button for increments of 30 seconds - job done. My wife however likes to use the advanced features - defrost / melt / keep warm etc and she rates these features highly as well.
It's quiet when cooking, and after it's finished there's a reminder every minute so you don't leave the food in the microwave overnight. Thankfully, it's not an ear splitting or invasive alarm like some appliances, just a gentle audible reminder. It's easy to keep clean (dishwasher safe turntable), produces evenly heated food and it even looks pretty good too.
If there's one complaint that I have about it, when the power goes out you have to reset the clock on the microwave - how hard is it to put a backup battery in a damn microwave?
Overall - exceptional
works fine for the first year then goes downhill – it worked really well for the first 12-14 months then started playing up, taking long time to cool down, not heating well, took it to local good guys (purchasing store), got it fixed, it lasted for 1 week then stopped heating with loud bang noise and burning smell. poor quality. Very happy with purchase – I am very happy with this microwave so far. We bought this to replace our 10 year old LG microwave and I am very happy with all the functions that this microwave has. I have found that the defrost function seems to be quite accurate so far and I haven't had problems with the meat starting to cook. I have cooked frozen pies for my son with the… Read more
sensor cook function and they have cooked in 5 minutes and been cooked perfectly (I don't think I will ever cook them in the oven again!). In general, the microwave heats everything much quicker than my old microwave. I am also very, very happy with the matte black colour. I was worried it wouldn't match our kitchen but it looks very sleek and it always looks so clean, it doesn't show fingerprints like my old stainless steel one used to.
Appears good – This was purchased on reading reviews in this site. Bought last week. Initial view is that it is quite good. Minor issue with timer. Only seem to be able to set at 10 sec increments. Would like to be able to use 1 or at least 5 sec intervals. Also the door glass is quite dark. If you are using dark items in the cooking area, a little… Read more
difficult to see the items. Overall pretty happy at present. Will definitely update if any issues identified.
Great little machine! – Great little microwave, so much better then the one i replaced it with! works well, easy to use and so quiet! Con is it shows fingerprints easily so i have to wipe it regularly Show details
Easy to use, program times seem wayward – I agree closely with Truebleu2 comments. The programming for defrosting and heating using programs seem to miss the point and prove variable. I weighed up some frozen chicken, defrosted it and was suspicious so I only allowed it to do 2/3 of the time shown. Just as well as this was virtually defrosted and slightly cooked on edges. I returned to… Read more
practices used with my old Sharp (10 years old). This means I manually defrosted food on reduced times and gave timed breaks before resetting the time expected to complete the defrosting. I also calculated that P70-80 was close to the power input of my old Sharp which was 950watts.
I tried something simple, heating baked beans. The programming based on weight was again over zealous. I returned to manual heating. I will next check the machine for hot spots and overall heat distribution before providing another review. My machine is only 1 month old so I will include reliability in my next review too.
The machine is tidy and very easy to operate. I just hope the programming buttons don’t fail with time given I don’t trust the auto cook timings so manual touch buttons may get overused.
