LG QuadWash XD3A15 Series

We bought the LG XD3A15NS dishwasher in early 2025 with a 5-year Gold Service Extras warranty. From the first week, the bottom tray would jam and refuse to slide in unless lifted by hand. We reported it immediately. After months of chasing, two different technicians came out. Both confirmed the fault and even replaced the tray — still jammed and… Read more
unusable. We provided multiple videos (even the technician sent one). LG dismissed the issue with ridiculous excuses like “we used two fingers to push the tray.”
Nearly a year later, and according to LG and The Good Guys (Mile End), there is suddenly “no fault found.” LG now wants another video, while this model has conveniently been discontinued. The Good Guys offer nothing except delays, finger-pointing, and yet another pointless service call. We paid for a 5-year extended warranty, and it has delivered zero protection, zero service, and zero responsibility.
Under Australian Consumer Law, a product must be fit for purpose. A dishwasher that can’t slide a tray without jamming is not fit for purpose — full stop.
We have lodged a complaint with Consumer and Business Services and are escalating to the ACCC, including concerns about misleading warranties.
This experience has destroyed our trust. We will never purchase from LG or The Good Guys again — and recommend others don’t either.
It's a quiet and good quality machine until it's not. We had it for 6 years and then it kept getting errors. I would have expected it to last at least 10 years for the price. Would not purchase LG again. Show details

I bought the LG QuadWash XD3A15NS thinking it would make life easier, but it’s been nothing but a headache. It never washes properly—dishes come out dirty, and the dishwasher tablets almost never dissolve, leaving a chalky mess inside. The racks have already broken, and even when they were intact, they felt flimsy and awkward to load. For the… Read more
money I spent, I expected something far better.
When I contacted LG’s customer service, the experience was just as bad as the dishwasher itself—slow responses, no real solutions, and once the warranty expired, they were done helping. Between the poor cleaning, broken racks, and constant tablet issues, I wish I’d never bought this model.

Love this freestanding dishwasher! Very quiet, efficient and actually cleans dishes. We replaced an old Bosch that would leave dirty dishes and have had many brands in accommodation businesses and our home. This has literally changed our lives…no more having to rewash dishes 3 times! Usually our budget is around mid range $600-$800 so it’s the… Read more
first time spending in this higher bracket. Ive had it for about 8 months now and It’s been well worth it. Only negative is it’s not really black more of a very deep charcoal grey. Not the end of the world but irks me a little!
Best Dishwasher I've owned – So in my life I would say that I have been in houses and owned maybe 10 different dishwashers. This is by far it is the best. It's new you may say, but you expect that, but a Westinghouse about 10years ago held this title protectively for years!!! The things I love about this LG machine: - well, it looks kinda sexy with its black finish (matches… Read more
the fridge) - the best thing is that it opens at the end and allows condensation to clear, so no more little drying marks on anything - the equal best thing is the flexibility of the heights of the shelves, so handy - I was a little reluctant in the beginning to have a cutlery tray draw opposed to a basket - but it is really good. Only downside is that some of the larger utensils have to go on the shelves rather than the cutlery shelf as they are too high for it - and if I lower it my high glasses dont fit. But small price to play.
Oh and it is quiet, but not super quiet. Sings when it finishes like the other LG appliances, which is handy. Lots of programs if you choose to use, but I mainly stick to the economy setting and it has cleaned everything.

Incredibly poor build quality – Bought this brand new today, and the door is completely warped. There is a difference of 3-4mm from one side to the other, despite having the feet correctly levelled. The chassis is also incredibly flimsy - this is the poorest build quality I've ever seen in a dishwasher. When trying to run it, it immediately gave an error message. I can't believe such poor quality products can be put to market, especially at this price point. Show details

Washes well and extraordinarily quiet – Over a 40 year period I have had a Simpson (pretty good), Dishlex (awful), a Westinghouse (fantastic) - all from new. The Westinghouse was the best of that lot, still going well when the house was sold. On a change of house I had the misfortune to inherit a Bosch, which was as awful as the Dishlex. When that irretrievably failed I decided against… Read more
the Westinghouse as they were no longer Australian made. Left with only imported options I chose the LG XD3A15NS. I noted that it got some poor reviews re the racks, but to be honest the racks are fine. Only time will tell whether they will last 10-15 years. However, in terms of performance I cannot fault the LG. It washes extremely well, even on Eco setting, which is where it pretty much stays. What surprised me the most was how extraordinarily quiet it was. Doing the self-install was slightly irritating as the instructions for fitting the sound baffles were somewhat ambiguous (the manual needs improvement here) but nonetheless it could be figured out. Well done LG.
fantastic features but lousy reliability – I loved the the loading ergonomics - an object lesson to the Miele I owned previously and vastly better than the Bosch series 6 I have replaced the failed LG Quadwash with. The Bosch fold down tines are simply too few and pre-historic by comparison. The LG dishwashing performance was simply great. Glassware cleaning was far and away the best of… Read more
the 5 brands I've owned. Also loved the door opening itself towards the end of the drying cycle because it worked brilliantly. The dishes came out dry! However when the unit failed after 13 months of light use I was gobsmacked. I live in a regional town with no LG service agent within 200k's so LG offered me store credit and advised me I wasn't under any obligation to replace my machine with an LG. I took this to mean that LG weren't all that confident that a new LG would last out the warranty period. Judging by the other reviews here I suspect they're right. I have both an LG fridge and microwave and they're great. The dishwasher that came with the house was an LG and that lasted 11 years from installation. Come on LG lift your game.
Disappointed - Until issue addressed and fixed – We bought the LG Quad wash in January 2020. By May/June 2021 bE (excess bubble) code was starting to interfere with the normal operation of the machine. The machine was spotless, residue water was crystal clear A service representative was arranged (during COVID!). He claimed not to have seen this issue and didn’t know how to fix it. He… Read more · 2
suggested pouring milk into the unit to dissolve the (non-existent) excess suds. He suggested if problem persisted he might have to replace the motherboard. The bE issue went on for quite a while and then one day the unit operated as it should (??). The issue returned sporadically, but I could always get it working again. I don’t think it was the milk, I believe unplugging it an leaving it for a few days maybe reset it (?). The amount of water and power I’m wasting is mind boggling. So naturally I’m out of warranty now (expired Jan 2022). The unit is still coming up with bE error code and now it’s doing IE (water inlet) error code. We have checked all the hoses and disconnected and reconnected the machine. It tripped the main circuit board but after resetting a few times it worked, but only ONCE!! Am I happy with paying $1200 for this dishwasher and wasting so much water and power trying to get it work? No I am not!! Did I have 100% confidence it would work every time I turned it on. NO I did not. At 2.5 years old did I get what should be reasonably expected out of this appliance. Definitely NOT!!. In the USA I believe there is a Class Action against LG for selling the Quad Wash Dishwashers knowing the appliance would fail due to the design of the control panel being on the top, not front, of the door, meaning water can get into the electronics. Now I am out of warranty for a dishwasher that even if the motherboard had been replaced during the warranty period it is widely acknowledged by other owners the problem would only have occurred again. I’m out of pocket for an overpriced underperforming unit. I’ve messaged LG asking what they’re prepared to do about this. No response yet. Would you be happy with spending $1200 and only getting a little over 12 months worry-free operation out of the LG QuadWash?? This unit did not perform to what is reasonable and what any customer should expect.

Excellent product. Not perfect, but really good – After a few months of ownership, and having the chance to use the Bosch and Miele premium products, I've gone back and upgraded to 5 stars. This dishwasher is a lot better than the other two brands offerings in terms of dryness and wash quality. Does a great job washing dishes, is quiet and looks good. Can't comment on the reliability yet. Some… Read more · 1
positives: • Buttons are on top of door, which is a great location • Automatic opening of the door at the end of cycle is fantastic for dry dishes • Dishes and plastics come out very clean and very dry • Quiet operation • Efficient with water and power • Notifications (on app) when cycle is finished is useful • Dishwasher looks great • Is easy to clean and doesn't fingerprint easily • Racks are adjustable in height, tines can be lowered • Cutlery drawer is such a great addition over a basket. It creates so mcuh space for larger items in the racks,
Improvements: • Colour is gun metal grey, not matte black as advertised • Inlet water hose has a large object near the end, requiring a larger hole in the cabinetry. • Instructions for installing the sound deadening material are poorly written • The app lacks functionality (can't control the dishwasher, only get information or push messages from it)
Best dishwasher I've ever used – This diswasher is awesome. It has got so much room, I can fit everything in from large plates to big pots and pans. It cleans really well and I love that the door opens a bit after every cycle so the dishes are dry as well. Cannot recommend this dishwasher enough! Show details · 1
Way better than an equivalent BOSCH unit hands down - but not perfect – ok I will compare this with a similarly priced Bosch Serie 6 SMP66MX03A which I bought on a similar time (as I have two properties). The LG is just as quiet as the Bosch - both are considered premium models and as such you pay for quality and quietness. The LG cleans better than the Bosch generally however the top cutlery rack does not clean… Read more · 1
cutlery as well as the BOSCH as such I recommend you buy a cutlery basket as I have done. TheBosch comes with a basket but the LG Units that have a rack do not provide the basket (a cheap basket from ebay is $10-$20). If you are not willing to compromise on a basket do not purchase the model with the cutlery rack and go for the less expensive LG model that only has the two main racks and provides a cutlery basket for you.
Where the LG shines however is the drying. This was a huge complain with my Bosch and even on the extra dry option the dishes came out soaking wet. Bosch blames it on the type of detergent/rinse aid I use but I can tell you now I use the same on the LG and the dishes come out bone dry (and I don't have to use the extra dry option at all!). The advantage here for the LG is that the door automatically opens which aids in the drying process, but having said that even when I manually opened the door for the BOSCH dishes were never completely dry. This was the main reason I got rid of the Bosch as drying is very important to me.
The LG can also go up to 75 degrees temp on the intensive cycle where the bosch only does 70. This is a plus and it helps with the cleaning of heavy loads as well as providing better drying results.
The LG has way more programs than the bosch providing you with half load options that can be changed to include upper rack half load and lower rack half load just to name a few, and you have the option of downloading more programs via the app.
The NEGATIVES
The app as others say only monitors the machine and it does not give you any options to remote control the unit. I hope LG can upgrade the app to provide additional functionality in the future.
The delay is only 12 hours max where the bosch had 24 hours but that does not bother me much as I do not use the delay start much.
Both the Bosch and the LG have a touch panel on the top of the door which is an upgrade from earlier LG models where they had it on the face/front of the door and anyone could accidentally touch it. The LG touch controls are very sensitive!
The bosch is a little more versatile in terms of the upper rack coming completely off and you can stack long plates or trays etc to wash on the LG this cannot be done. also it seems the LG is a little smaller inside I was able to fit more cups on the top rack on the bosch.
I do not know the reliability of either yet as I Only had them for a few months but I will update the review should any problems arise.

No good for standard dinner set or standard drinking glasses – Unfortunately I cannot fit large drinking glasses or small side plates in the top basket as it catches on the cutlery drawer. If I try to drop the top basket I am unable to fit full sized dinner plates in the bottom basket. In essence the only usable basket is the bottom one. Or the cutlery drawer. Or doing two wash cycles if bottom basket is… Read more
full of items that ordinarily would fit in the top basket. Not an economical option when you only have one useable basket. Alternative is to remove the cutlery drawer . - doesn’t make sense having drawers that do not fit standard dinner plates / drinking glasses.

Worst LG dishwasher yet – This dishwasher works well and cleans well but the layout of the inside is absolutely ridiculous for a average normal family. The cutlery draw up top is annoying as it takes up to much room and stops any high glasses from being able to be put in. The drop down function for the top draw can’t be used if you have large plates underneath as they get… Read more
stuck on the spinning washer under top shelf. The layout for glasses and mugs is NOT practical AT ALL unless you use small tea cups. The very bottom gets food caught in it and is hard to clean. Over all I wish I never purchased this product and I am very disappointed as all of my appliances are LG and until now Ive loved every single one. This does not even slightly compare to my last LG dishwasher which was great and lasted 12 years with only one call out in all that time and was fabulously functional in all ways! Disappointed is an understatement to how I feel about this dishwasher.
Not even had it a month and faulty – Brought the quad wash spent nearly $1500. Purchased gold cover through good guys. times now we have the same error again. So tomorrow will be ringing again. We have to take time off work for the electrician to check and repair for a dishwasher that was brought in the middle of February. Normally with a faulty product you could take it back get a replacement or refund which I think I will be pushing for as I think this will be an ongoing issue. Not happy

Motor & sensor board not working after 3 washes – Unfortunately gave away my perfectly working 16 YO+ dishwasher to replace with a black LG dishwasher in my new kitchen. . The dishwasher stopped working after 3 washes and came up with LE motor issues. Only took less than10 minutes for tech to declare I need a new dishwasher! Cheapskate designers – Today I have installed my new LG dishwashers and there are three things that I have found wrong with this machine before I have run the first cycle. 1/ the metal used in the water connection is so soft and cheap that it strip's its thread before gripping. The delay timer only runs to 12 hours. If I want a delay start to coincide with solar generation I will have to visit the machine a second time sometimes. NB my machine is at my BBQ 50 m from my house. One line of code by a software engineer would have solved this. Where is the understanding of strange customers like me? 3/ The wifi App function could be so much better but it only monitors the machine - there is no function to change program, start or stop, or change the delay start timer. Hate that cutlery doesnt wash properly – Purchased this machine about 7 months ago. Loved the cutlery rack idea although I was advised it also came with cutlery basket and specifications state it has 3 racks and a basket. It did not come with a basket. rack doesn’t fit long stemmed glasses and as we use quite a bit of plastic ware for lunches etc it’s really hard to pack the second shelf leaving clearance for the top rack to get enough power to wash cutlery properly. There is a little sprayer at the top but spits out very little water and is useless. Would be much happier with the cutlery basket and removing top tray so I can use second basket properly. If I lower it my dinner plates don’t fit. I had to buy new dinnersets as my square plates were to thick for half the dishwasher tines and wouldn’t fit. Very disappointed.

Very quiet, no more bending with top cutlery drawer & it dries plastics and opens the door at the end – After much umming and aahing I couldn't decide which dishwasher to buy. reviews complaining of problems only and hardly anyone seems to bother writing about an appliance if it's good and keeping them happy. So I decided I should make the effort to report on our findings re the LG Matte Black XD3A15MB Dishwasher.
I have to say I am very happy with it. Don't regret buying it at all. Due to covid stock depletion, cheaper models were out of stock, so too were the white door versions. But the Matte Black door is actually looking pretty good in place next to my Tassie Oak cupboards and is not too finger mark prone; and it looks much better than I thought it would. It is exceptionally quiet. It cleans the dishes really well. It has programs to open the door at the end slightly, or you can turn it off, depending on your preference. I am very happy with the dishwasher and really like the cutlery drawer at the very top. No more bending down to pull out the lower tray and trying to load the cutlery into separate squares of the old basket. The top cutlery rack and middle Glass/small plate rack are also both adjustable in height, and although I wondered before purchase if I could get all types of cutlery and utensils in, I need not have been worried as this dishwasher has ample variations in rack position and has ample room for potato mashers on the middle rack too. It almost dried fully (bar 2 drops of water left on just 1 container edge) of 6 plastic containers and 6 lids that were of reasonable size and filled up the middle rack. That is a first, as my old dishwasher never dried things like this. Plastic used to always come out covered in heaps of drops of water and always needed manual drying or a long while resting in the sunny dishrack above to fully dry. This will save lots of time allowing me to put the plastic items away immediately.
Turbo 65' Express cycle used so far. I think I will stick with it. I rinsed the dishes first as the manual suggested. They weren't pristine looking, but rinsed of excessive food scraps/crumbs. You can connect your phone to this dw, and be reminded when it wants me to run the cleaning cycle, but I have no desire to do that. I will watch for it on the display instead.
It has a good printed english manual, and is relatively intuitive to use after you've read the manual. I will write further and update this if anything changes, but for now I'm giving it 5 stars. Bought from Harvey Norman at $1399. No discount price but it was in stock and delivered less than 24 hrs after I bought it to my rural address for $49. Easy as.
Great Dishwasher, love the open door function at end of cycle – It’s very quiet, washes really well, even removes baked on residue on Pyrex. It also dries well. Only negatives are the cutlery tray is only wide enough on one side for knives & forks to fit in. The other side only fits smaller items like teaspoons etc. The other thing I have noticed is that there is an oily/grease smell when it is washing. I hope… Read more · 1

Energy and water efficient, very good cleaning result. Steam result is very good. Very quiet – After a 3 week wait for delivery and a huge job ripping out cabinets and plumbing work to extend pipes to the cabinet area I created. This unit is a good price point as far as energy and water efficiency is concerned at 4 stars and 5.5 WELS rating.
I was able to pick it up for $1350 lower than RRP. If you are not concerned about delivery time Billy Guyatts is OK. But I had to micro manage them and call them 10 times about delivery. It was still worth that effort for that price. The unit had to come directly from LG and the delivery people took an extra week to get to me.
It is extremely quiet, the water inlet tap is much louder than the unit in operation.
We are using an eco setting with stream, although with the steam enabled, another optional setting on the console for energy reduction is greyed out. Meaning the steam uses more power. It's not necessary until you actually need it, for cat bowls and caked on utensils etc. The steam is optional so not on all the time.
The cleaning result is very good. Drying is good but some water sticks around on top of cups and anything large that may capture water. There is a function to automatically open the door after cleaning for further air drying, this is different to others.
The rack space is large enough and adequate, but there is the usual issue of long glasses hitting the cutlery tray.
I am happy there is no faults with the unit as other brands with the same ratings have faults. If you don't need black stainless steel, you can get the platinum stainless steel with the same 5.5 WELS rating at a much cheaper price.
My concern with the unit is I was unable to figure out how to attach the rubber parts to fit around the cabinet to supposably reduce noise. I am still trying to work out how to get rubber strips 85cm high to fill the gaps on the side and use the supplied strips to attach to the bottom to block the space around the legs to stop foodstuff and dust getting underneath.
I tried to get support from LG. But they were terrible and truely shocking. I had rude people on the phone refuting what I was seeing in the manual. It is currently unresolved. They were hard to get information in regards to keeping the useless wireless "smart" systems off also.
2 failures in 4 months - struggling to get a refund – At first, i would have given this a 5 star review. This machine did an absolutely fantastic wash, but now it has failed twice with the same issue. days after that to get it back. It worked fine for 3.5 weeks and now has failed again with the same HE error. LG are abismal to deal with on the phone, there is no care or consideration for you as a customer, you need to do all the running around to contact the repair agent, etc. I was then blamed for not following instructions that were never given to me. I have now gone back to the retailer and seeing what they can do to assist me. I have lost all confidence in this product, and as such, i have also lost faith in LG's after sales support. I will now be looking at other brands for a new dishwasher.
I'm flabbergasted, and dumbfounded – It's been 133 years since the first dishwasher patent was issued. It's been 40 years since I purchased my first dishwasher, (Phillips) lasted 18yrs, so I'm amazed that a company, any company can successfully dump (not just LG) equipment on the unsuspecting masses, it doesn't wash, it barely dries, unless you pay extra electricity, the logic of… Read more

Dishwasher has a great big Plastic device that cannot be detached during installation. This means that you have to cut out massive holes in your kitchen cabinets, just to get the hose connected. Why on earth they could not have installed whatever this monstrosity is, on the inside of the machine I do not know, but it is a really bad bit of design work.
Eventually I made the necessary alterations to my kitchen cabinets and got the Dishwasher powered up. The first wash was good, however the dishes were not dry at all. I installed the LG App on my iPhone in the hope that it would give me some hints on how to dry the dishes, but all I get is an alert telling me to use Rinse Aid. The 'Use Rinse Aid' alert suggests to me that LG are aware that the machine has very poor drying capabilities.
Previously I have owned much cheaper Dishwasher brands and they have all dried reasonably well, but the LG is way below their performance when it comes to drying.
I have tried warmer wash settings and the 75oC wash is an improvement, but not perfect.
Over time the drying does seem to have improved slightly (not sure why) and a couple of months in to owning the Dishwasher I have learned to live with this.
On a positive note though, the Dishwasher does clean exceptionally well and I only use Finish Dishwasher balls.
Sadly though, I would have to say that this product does not live up to LG's usually level of greatness and as it is not a cheap Dishwasher, I would have advise trying a different brand, or even a cheaper machine instead. It's poor drying in my opinion devalues the product, making it overpriced in comparison to competitors.
Quick update 2 years later on this product. It really is not very good at all and I would strongly urge anyone after a Reasonable Dishwasher, to avoid this one. Even the cheap nasty Dishwashers do a better job than this one.
I still love LG overall, but this Dishwasher is a big disappointment.

carefully place each piece, tip the spoons face down and top and tail forks, none of these will be clean. Who has time for that? The controls are non-intuitive and confusing. We have only ever used one factory setting because we can't figure out how to change it. I think it says the wash cycle is 2 hours 56 minutes, with no dry cycle.
Our recommendation? Speak to people who already own one of these before making a decision to buy.
Good performance but poor design – Looks great with good, whisper-quiet washing performance that leaves dishes clean and mostly dry, but a completely flawed interior design makes stacking frustratingly difficult. e.g.Taller glasses hit the cutlery drawer, but if you drop the top shelf down to anything other than the top position plates & pots obstruct the arms.
