Bought in March 2023 and failed in Dec 2025. Just outside 2yr warranty. Error code E0, a well known & documented fault - check all the other reviews, where the machine says there is water leakage in the machine. We had extended warranty and repairman said a new part was to ordered. However, the insurance company rejected their quote and we got… Read more

credit for a new one. Noticed that this machine is still for same despite the many, many people who have complained about this same problem. Noticed also that there is a large sticker on the front of the machine touting "10 year warranty" - and in smaller letters "on motor". That is marketing-speak because that machine will never get to 10 years. Needless to say, we did not buy a LG dishwasher again. These are white goods and they are supposed to last at least 10 years, not just the warranty period.

Unit failed at 2.5 years using one wash a day. AE error, which is a known error for this machine. Water leak internally, but we cannot see water anywhere except in the base of machine? So machine will not run, just drain pumps and hums continuously.… Read more

We are on our 3rd cutlery basket, the bottom falls out as knives put a hole in the base after 12 months. These are not warranty items and is a known failure here also see other reviews. This machine is still sold today yet the basket is a known issue. The repair which technician is confident to fix the leak is $450 to install and replace the solenoid valve, which is a $45 part, but it was diagnose then 2nd visit needed now part is ordered. Removing machine covers not easy in our tight kitchen. Technician thinks solenoid will fix the machine. Machine must be pulled out of cabinet, which is very difficult. Next time it fails we will buy a cheap Westinghouse for $600, we have one in our 2nd house and it has been rock solid for 8 years running daily. We have tried various dishwashers over the years, Bosch, Smeg and all get faults at about 3 years in our experience. With this LG the glasses are not always clean, powder mild streaks, and yes we use rinse aid and branded tablets. We have soft water. Look up reviews elsewhere for this machine, poor. Warranty is 2 years. I did look at Hisense with a 3 year warranty but it also has poor reviews. Westinghouse from now on. Expensive is not better, and technician said he does not have many calls on Westinghouse. We paid about $1000 for this machine 2.5 years ago. The App is not really any good as it does nothing to be honest. You cannot control the machine from the app. LG has been a very frustrating experience. Expensive definately not better in our experience with dishwashers, most seem to fail at 3 years, so from now on a brand for us, that is cheap, then we can throw it away if it fails out of warranty, as the service call and parts cost is huge.

Follow-up  · Bought a Westinghouse. $900 with a 5 year warranty. The repair final quote was $610 for the LG. It is not worth it. The 10 year LG motor warranty tries to give you false confidence. Now I insist on the 5 year warranty parts and Labour and only Westinghouse dishwashers give me that. LG dishwasher never again.

New 2nd LG dishwasher. The first lasted 21 years – Yesterday we purchased from Harvey Norman our 2nd LG dishwasher. The first one was purchased 21 years ago when we built without issues what so ever. that the plug on the first one was not well connected to the socket. I thought it was dead. I discovered the mistake as I was about to install the new one. Nevertheless we are pleased to have updated for a new, latest model. One little issue…. It is hard to find the dishwashing salt from the supermarkets but I will get it online. I can still use the dishwasher in the meantime. Harvey Norman has been fantastic to us. Online Customer service and delivery within 20 hours. We are very happy of our purchase. Another company we dealt with for years could not deliver the dishwasher within two weeks without any promises. Thank you Harvey Norman. Jose from Hampton Park

Not fully happy with my choice – LG Quad wash in white. I like the LG brand but I'm a lightly disappointed in this dishwasher, for a number of reasons. Its not as quiet as they say it is, far from it, I have to have it running and finished before I go to bed otherwise it wakes you up with all the stops and starts and loud gurgling of water draining out, not to mention if the… Read more

rotating arms need to stop for any reason and they start up again its loud knocking sounds like the arms are hitting dishes, yet they are not.

I have been monitoring the different cycles and making notes about them so please find below a few of the annoyances I am finding with the different cycles.

Auto Wash is my least favourite, this cycle has a whopping 3 hours and 5 minutes, it constantly stopping and starting and being loud, it's supposed to SENSE how dirty the dishes are and is supposed to vary the time depending on how dirty your dishes are, the dishes I put in where hardly dirty, I mean I scraped my dishes and wiped them with a paper towel beforehand and the dishwasher still did the whole 3 hours and 5 minutes and here's me thinking the time would be cut back given they were not heavily soiled, this is a cycle I will never use again.

ECO Wash this cycle is confusing in the way it runs, its got a hefty 2 hours and 50 minutes, where the cycle runs for the 2 hours and then stops for 50 minutes not doing anything, then at the 5 minute mark it makes a loud gurgling sounds for like 1 second and then sits quiet for the remainder of the time until it shuts off, this cycle is also supposed to DRY your dishes but it does not, I rang LG to find out why the machine just sits idle for 50 minutes with nothing going on and I was told its the machines sensor working and that it's normal, I say the sensor is sensing what ?? because nothing happening, if it's sensing the dishes are clean then why sit for 50 minutes power on and do nothing because it's not drying the dishes, this also is my least favourite cycle.

Turbo Wash a few of things with this is ok, for instance when you select Turbo wash it will come up with lights on at EXTRA DRY on the far right of your control panel you need to DESELECT EXTRA DRY and it will reduce your wash down to 59 minutes then hold TURBO button for 3 seconds and it will give you the quick express wash of 39 minute wash, this is my go to I usually just have the 59 minute wash and rinse however I'm concerned that turbo may be using up more energy however I'm pretty sure it's using less energy than the 2 and 3 hour plus cycles, I'll keep my eye on my power bill.

Express Wash is also the Turbo cycle button pressed for 3 seconds to activate it 39 minutes however they say don't use this cycle if your using dishwasher tablets due to the low water temp and rinse cycle may not remove all the powder from the dishes, I used it anyway and didn't find any residue left behind and even if their was you could do a 12 minute rinse only cycle if needed and it's still quicker than some of the other cycles that do a wash and rinse together, even though the Express wash and turbo wash sound the same their is a difference and the only difference is the water and rinse temps, for the turbo wash the water/rinse temp is slightly higher than for the express wash because the express wash doesn't give the machine enough time to heat the water.

Half Load is 2 hours and 40 minutes and then it sits idle for the remaining 50 minutes doing nothing and it's another noisy cycle and to get this option you need to have ECO button pressed just once and then press the half load button for washing either the top rack or bottom rack only, I used the bottom rack only as it was mainly heavy stuff but lightly soiled, I'm frustrated with the few cycles that show you a time of like 2 or 3 hours and they only wash for the some of it and then sit quiet and do nothing for 50 minutes, I'm not getting any error codes and I'm thinking what a poorly designed product.

Energy Saver I can't even get this one working, not even pressing buttons are working but I'm thinking it may be one of those programs that need to be downloaded via the app ? however I'm not going to bother because I have my one fave cycle that is either the 59 or 39 minute wash and that's all I need.

One last thing, the dishwasher salt that I need to buy is an extra expense that I am unwilling to pay for but have to if I want to keep my dishwasher at its optimum, my last dishwasher didn't have the salt feature, I will be getting a water PH test kit because if my water Ph isn't as bad as I think it is then I won't need to buy the salt.

Notes to take away from this, I'm moderately happy because I'm not needing to wash up myself the dishes are always clean at unpacking time, once the cycle has finished give it a good few minutes before opening the door ajar which will help with the overnight drying and if you open the door too soon after it stops the alarm will go off until you shut it again and that's due to the rinse temp at it's hottest and the machine needs a moment to cool down and also a few people have mentioned about how flimsy the top rack is, yes I agree with that completely and I also found sometimes that when pushing the top rack in it gets stuck and won't fully go back in place, I have found a little trick to make it go back in place with 1 gentle push and that is as your pushing the top rack back in just ever so lightly push down on the top rack at the front while you pushing it and it will glide in fully without needing to reset the whole thing by dragging it out, what that does is it lifts the back wheels slightly so they can get over whatever it is that's making it stop to early.

My last LG dishwasher lasted 12yrs of heavy use with almost no issue so when it died seemed an easy option to get a new LG XD5B14WH. LG spare part that has done exact same as first in less than 1yr so now need to buy another as knives fall though and stop the lower rotator from spinning. For reference the basket in my first LG dishwasher last the entire life of the machine. The touch panel on the front bugs out all the time and starts flashing and beeping and have to turn off power at wall to reset. And the machine makes horrid thumping noises during a certain part of the cycle. Apart from that it seemed on par with my first one for how it cleans dishes and how loud it runs, except when thumping noise is happens and when a knife pokes through the bottom of basket and jams the spray bar. Would have thought newer model would have been improved but has gone way backwards. I'd take the old model with proper buttons and and basket thats not made of recycled plastic bags any day. No more LG In My Home. Bring back the old model this is junk.

Good dishwasher even on short cycle – Our new LG Quadwash replaced an 18 yo LG which had been completely reliable but the hinge springs broke recently. emptying into the drain under the sink.

The Quadwash with two drawers and a cutlery basket is excellent for lightly soiled full loads. The capacity is better than the old 14 place unit once you get used to how to optimise loading. We mainly use the 38 min cycle, obtained by holding the turbo selector for about 3 seconds and turning off the extra dry. This cycle is economical with electricity and water. Everything comes out sparkling clean and mostly dry. The machine remembers your selection for next time. If using the 38 minute cycle it is best to use powder not tablets as the tablets can leave a residue on the crockery. This is expained in the manual. We are using Shine powder and rinse aid with excellent results. For more intense washing we use the turbo 59 min cycle with no extra dry for which tablets are desirable for extra cleaning. This cycle uses significantly more water and a bit more power.

Both cycles wash dishes very well and dry reasonably well. We put a tea towel above the machine and empty like items onto it before placing them into cupboards or drawers. As recommended in the manual the bottom basket should be emptied first. Mugs need to be placed bottom down to absorb water which is still welled on some of the mugs. The cutlery basket can be emptied by tipping out the contents but it is advisable to hold the flaps down against the basket to stop the cutlery tangling should the flaps fall open. We have removed the folding glass stem shelves and added a shortened folding shelf from the old washer which can support and separate sharp knives as there was no really good spot for them. This would be a good accessory for LG to supply with the machine.

The dishwasher was easy to instal after the hole in the back of the cupboard was made larger to acco modate the water inlet hose. The filter is easy to check and when necessary, clean.

We load the top tray starting from the front as too much of the weight at the back makes it harder to smoothly push the drawer back all the way over the water inlet, unless a small downward pressure is used on the front of the basket while closing.

Hopefully it is reliable for a long time.

Had low expectations to begin with but was blown away that pre rinsing isn’t even required for a perfect clean. Had the dishwasher for 5 years. It worked great up until the direct drive motor bearing started making noise. even more quickly, even though we were especially careful when we risked loading it with steel cutlery. LG blamed us and have refused any further discussion - no doubt because they have so many complaints about this obviously flawed design. The base of the cutlery basket is just made too lightly and implements start going through the mesh base after a few months as the tiny plastic welds fail in hot water. We’ve had half a dozen dishwashers in half a century of domestic life - we’ve had models from Bosch, Simpson, Aske, and Fischer and Paykel - and this is the only time we’ve had a cutlery basket fail. The rest of the machine is fine, but I’m tired of washing the knives and forks by hand.

Written off after only 4 years – Had high expectations for this dishwasher as I had owned a LG dishwasher prior to this one that lasted 16 years and if it was a car it would have done a million miles. cooked motherboard replaced. Serviceman at the time said it was due to a design fault that let steam from the machine into the motherboard compartment and there had been a few of them suffer this fate. On and off over the next 3 years it would turn itself off regularly during the wash cycle and I would often find it full of dirty water and plates. The control panel would flicker regularly and the alarm would sound for no apparent reason while it was running. It reached the point where I could only wash in the quick wash setting as the economy setting would shut down regularly. But eventually the quick wash setting started to succumb as well. The final straw came when the machine shut down (yet again) and this time flashed an actual alarm. Long story short it was an internal water leak that the service men could not get at without taking the machine and pulling it completely apart to get at. There was no physical way of removing the bottom of the machine to gain access to this area - something that shocked the servicemen as they hadn't seen it before. In the end the machine was consigned to the scrap heap as the total cost of replacing yet another motherboard and trying to fix the leak made it unviable. A very disappointing purchase and one I won't be risking with a modern LG again.

I'm reluctant to get a service guy out again in case it gets taken away again, not to mention that will mean either me or my husband taking time off work (which neither of us can really afford to do) to sit around and wait for the technician to come over, as though we've got nothing better to do. And all for a problem that should have been fixed last time! Then I suppose we'll need to take time off work *again* to be there when they decide to bring it back. And finally, there's also the issue that the cycles on this machine are considerably longer than equivalent cycles on other dishwasher models which is hardly energy efficient.

I used to think LG were a reliable brand but after this experience, I will never buy another LG dishwasher, and maybe not even another LG product, ever again. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this dishwasher.

Service for regional buyers a joke – This dishwasher stopped working just before the warranty ran out. LG have been absolutely hopeless at organising a service or warranty replacement, saying we live too far from an official service centre and it has to go to their 'resolution process', which I believe means no-one ever gets back to you. Our local retailer can look at it and… Read more

potentially repair however LG won't approve that so I have a broken dishwasher and no returned calls from LG. I would never again buy an LG appliance unless I lived in the city.

Worst Dishwasher ever – Admittedly, we have had the dishwasher for over 2 years when it started to display the 'bE' error. After a search on the LG site, this alluded to either incorrect detergent used (we only use Finish tablets) or an off balanced washer (I pulled it out and got it perfectly level and tested it where it stood) or we needed to reset the Control Panel… Read more

(which was an easy process). None of these resolved the issue, in fact on the rare occassion that a wash completed cycle during a test, the dishes would come out wet (not dry), which wasn't surprising because I don't believe the heating element was working. There was not the usual steam that escaped when you opened the door. It was disappointing that the LG site required you download their app support which didn't quite work, we couldn't select the exact dishwasher model. Personally, no longer a fan for LG dishwashers, it's a shame to see they still sell this unit.

Almost 3 hours on Turbo is definitely not energy saving – I’m very disappointed that this new dishwasher takes almost 3 hours to wash on turbo. This definitely not energy saving. This dishwasher is 3 times longer for a cycle compared to my previous LG dishwasher Show details

Not as good as the last LG – Last Lg was only 5.5 years old. Didn’t mind. Ordered a new one. 2 months wait. Got a cheap one for ($350) while I waited for the LG. To my surprise LG do not give any tablets or rinse aid in the machine. Every other company no matter how cheap or expensive the systems are you get some tablets with them. Contacted LG they totally brushed me off. … Read more

The new on is smaller. Doesn’t has fan assistance drying. Louder and longer wash times. Only had it 24h and not really liking my purchase.
