Excellent reliability – Purchased 9 years ago, Jan 2015 for $617. Still going strong in 2024. Completely fine, washes well, family of four constant washing every day. I'm surprised it's lasted this long. Only issues was the front seal can get mouldy if left with water and it's hard to tell unless pulling back the rubber, but clean it once a year and it's fine. Would buy again. Completely different experience the LG dishwasher which broke after a couple of years. Show details

Done the job but a couple of little quirks – I have had the LG front loader for 3-4 years. Washes as it should and there have been no mechanical issues. One issue someone else has commented is the water hammer it creates within the plumbing system. Previous front loader (different brand) never had this problem. Steps to stop the water hammer have been unsuccessful. The other issue (which… Read more

has just happened again today which is why I am commenting) is every few weeks when I take a load out there will be dirt streaks on some of the linen. I regularly clean inside the door and around the rubber door seal but dirt builds up somewhere. Again, never had the problem with my previous front loader. Other performs as it should.

Decent machine, good value with some quirks – Was looking for a decent machine for couple that was economical as our old Omega washing machine suddenly died. We went to Bing Lee and go this machine for $600. That was 2 years ago Initial impressions: We thought it was very quiet during the wash cycle. Very impressive and had to check on occasion if it was still running. Gets noisier… Read more

during spinning cycles. Decent selection of wash programs, and we were happy with our purchase.

Observations since:

The machine can often tangle clothes. E.g when I washed business shirts, all the sleeves would knot up and I was worried this was damaging the fabric. No other machine I have owned does this.

The machine creates hammering within plumbing, even modern plumbing. When taking in water, the on/off of the inlet is so sudden it causes massive noise with our plumbing which I have noticed others have commented on also. There is no way to modify the machine wash or settings to prevent this. I worry this may create damage to our plumbing over time.

The beeps and music. Initially it was sort of humorous. Buttons beep when selected and turning the knob also creates a beep. Then there are music tunes when the machine starts and ends a cycle. Although it can be turned off, I found the sounds to be very annoying when running the machine late at night and kept having to dig out the manual to figure out how to mute again. I actually think it cheapens the machine and makes it feel like a toy.

Overall - I think the machine is good value. It has many selections, does a decent job at washing and has proven reliable over 2 years of use. I don't love it though, and would only recommend it if you were on a budget. If I had my chance again I would have considered a more premium machine.

Wonderful Front Loader, great wash every time! – The LG is the best front loader I've owned so far - quiet, efficient and easy to use. We don't have the cleanest water either, so I usually put 1/4 cup of vinegar in where the fabric softener goes and every load is sweet smelling and clean. There are so many choices of cycles, usually I use the Intensive 60 (mins) for everyday washing, Quick… Read more

30 (mins) for towels/tablecloths etc and the Cotton Eco (usually about 2 hours) for hubby's (very dirty) work clothes and it performs really well. Delicate cycle is also great. I generally chose cold water washing when I can, and 1200RPM spin if the clothes aren't delicate, and this is so easily selected!

This machine has cycles as quick as any top loader I've ever owned but is much more economical and clothes come out much drier and not tangled.

Being a muso - I love the tunes it plays before and after, this makes me smile lol, I just love music and it's a "sweet, positive wash day thing" to have a tune announcing that the washing is ready! :) You do have to wait 30 secs until the door unlocks, but after you get used to it, no big deal. I'm completely satisfied with the purchase of the LG and will definitely buy another one in the future - much distant future as I've had no trouble with it more than a year ago!

Leak caused by a single dog hair – I purchased this machine because Choice rated it well. What a piece of rubbish it is, and LG's call centre "customer care" is as bad as the product. The service person was, however, excellent. The machine LEAKS through the door. It is six weeks old and was installed exactly as per LG's fragmented instructions -- one page of the instructions… Read more

tells you to purchase a specific type of grip for the feet that cannot be purchased in Australia; on another segment of the paperwork (not the quick setup guide attached to the top of the machine) are 3M grips, so they were installed when we found them. The machine is perfectly level, on a flat tile surface, there's almost no vibration on spin, the hoses do not leak, but water comes out the door, somehow. It seems like a decent seal is an important thing for a front loading washing machine.

Most concerning is the fact that the machine gives you no indication there's a problem. The machine was not overloaded; the door lock symbol comes on, so you cannot open the door; the machine apparently went through its motions (I admit I didn't stand and watch it) and then it sang its little "cycle concluded" tune. That's when I came to find a nice large amount of water in front of and partially under the machine. Water was collected in the horizontal groove along the front of the machine, so it had come from the orifice above it -- the door.

When you call customer care, expect to wait a considerable time. The person I spoke to was outside Australia and did not have a good command of English, so communication was quite difficult, with many words having to be spelled letter by letter, and the representative's transcription of model and serial numbers having to be corrected.

They gave the name of the technician who would call me, but could not give me the business name or a contact telephone number or an email address for the guy. When I suggested that wasn't good enough, I was then given the name of another service centre, this time with a phone contact, but the customer care representative said it would be considerably longer for them to contact me. So, I had a choice of someone with no verifiable details but a short wait, or verifiable details and a long wait. Sound like good service?

I cannot recommend this machine. Perhaps I got a dud out of a cohort of otherwise good machines; I don't know. I can tell you that having a six week old machine which leaks through the door is not a pleasant experience. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty because I can tell now what kind of ride this is going to be.

Edit: After reading a number of recent, very poor reviews about the service centre to which my machine had been allocated, I called LG and asked them to cancel the request. They reissued the job to someone who directly works for LG, Shane. He called on Wednesday (I was told it would be Friday) and asked to drop in. He was here thirty minutes later. The diagnosis on the leak is that a single dog (or human) hair sitting across the door seal will funnel water, in small amounts, out the door throughout the wash cycle. That's how you can end up with a 500ml of water on your floor. He laid a single hair across the seal to demonstrate. The advice was not to wash dog-related items (bath towels, bed covers) in the LG. As I live with an assistance dog, this machine really is not suitable for me, or probably any other dog owner. I never had any issue with dog hair in six years with my Electrolux, but the LG service guy mentioned their door mechanisms/seals are more sturdy. So there you have it: a helpful service person, but still, unfortunately, a product that is no good for a dog owner.

4.5 years of flawless operations – Bought in December 2016 from Harvey Norman. Moved house once (don't forget to secure the transport bolts for moving) and it continues to work without a hiccup. Washes well with stains coming out at 30 degrees using Omo.  Show details ·  1

My first front loader washing machine. I'm impressed! – After years of top loader washing machines, I chose a front loader after an unhappy experience with a new top loader. And happy I did! Although I need to sit on a stool to access the machine as it sits on the floor, the wash results make up for this inconvenience. I thought front loaders had long wash cycles, but this machine has a 30 minute… Read more

option for lightly soiled clothes and the results are very satisfactory. In fact, I am impressed with the results of all the wash options, and there are many! I really like that I can choose a rinse and spin, and spin only option for hand wash garments. Although I now rarely hand wash as the LG does a beautiful "Delicates" wash. The only thing annoying is the melody played at the end of the cycle, particularly as the machine can not be opened for another few minutes.

Such a waste of money, very poor quality – We bought this model 2.5 years ago with a new baby on the way, and it's now about to be replaced already. The rubber gasket tore within 2 years and now the cycle doesn't complete properly, the cost is too much to repair so we'll upgrade to a better quality Bosch this time. LG customer service was absolutely awful when we queried the rubber gasket quality, so we're done buying LG appliances. Avoid. Show details

too loud after 5 years – It used to be quite good. But a few problems after 5~6 years. One day it stopped running. My husband got it fixed. And recently it makes very loud noise which gets on my nerve. Quite fretting if it will be out of order one day. I like that it can heat water up to 95 degree and sterilize laundry.  Show details

Lg washing machine – Cleans all right, bit louder than earlier. Normally we use only 30 min cycle all the time but it comes with lots of different cycles to run for all kind of cloths like wool, cotton. I like most feature is timing, child lock and tub clean it self. Recommend this product.  Show details

Silent and reliable washing machine – Efficient and reliable washing machine. Very quiet and different programs.Had a top loader before, but a front loader high spin cycle is great. Lots of short washing cycle options too witch is great for busy life, and even it doesn’t compromise the quality of wash. Had it more than 3 years, and have no problem wit it  Show details

So far so good – 3.75 star energy rating, 4.5 star water rating. Very happy with this LG front loader, bought 2.5 years ago, $670, Betta Home Living (after serious negotiation). Works really well, washes well, no strange noises, more than enough wash settings, and as far as I know is cheap to run the water, electricity and wash powder.  Show details

Good for a front loader – It seems to do all the right things, washes well & reliable. I’ve had a similar LG before & they seem to go the distance. The clothes spin dry nicely & fits a generous load of washing. I prefer a top loader because I think the agitator washes the clothes much better however due to the laundry configuration & benchtops I’m restricted to front loaders. Would still purchase another LG front loader if I had to next time.  Show details

Great Machine – I find the selection of programs comprehensive, but tend to stick to stick to only the same 2-3. Very silent and economical, I love the tune it plays when cycle is finished. Ok for a reasonable price – Bought from Harvey Norman with Amex offer and free delivery and removal of old machine. A bit small but does a decent job. Great washing machine – Having had a bad experience with a previous LG washing machine I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing from them again. However, LG have really upped their game and this machine is very good quality. It is big enough to cope with our family of five's demands. it is quiet enough that it doesn't bother you.. The features are plentiful (I love the 30 minute economy mode best). Overall a very good washing machine for a fairly decent price.  Show details

Good value for money – Did a lot of research and finally bought this because of Choice recommendation. It's our first front load washing machine and we are happy with it. Quiet, efficient, easy to operate. There is just one thing I am not satisfied, the clothes are not thoroughly rinsed on the quick 30 cycle. Need to run another rinse+spin cycle.  Show details

good machine – The machine works fine. It's a little bit loud, but it's quieter than my old lg washing machine. And it got all the function I need. It's great value for the price. Does the Job perfectly for what I need – It does what we need cleans the clothes well, and haven't had any of our clothes fade so far. It is a little loud but we don't mind it too much as our old machine was much louder. Also love the electronic buttons and the quick wash feature. It has a very welcoming ring when you turn the machine on.  Show details

Good solid washing machine with frustrating lock feature – Bought after our previous washing machine broke down. The machine has good load capacity and an alright energy and water rating. Most useful feature is being able to adjust the temperature and speed of spin regardless of setting, allowing us to tailor our washing to the materials. spin cycle is a bit noisy and it vibrates the house a little (but if I am in a different part of the house I know its nearly finished) and I wish it had a add - a - wash window, would be nice to throw extra things in as I am use to a top loader, any missed items just have to wait for the next load.

Great Washer – This washing machine washes your clothes. By using laundry detergent and the appropriate setting, it can wash your clothes. After it washes your clothes, it drains the water through the drain. And after that, it notifies you by a sequence of beeps or some musical tone. After which you can load the washing machine again with your soiled clothes and start the cycle again.  Show details

noisy 10 year old American top loader that didn’t have a filtering option,

I recommend that you read all the installer instructions, tags, travel bolts, levelling etc, very carefully as I’ve read a few that haven’t and have had problems

Most new machines we have purchased are ho hum but we love this machine unlike other front loaders the cycles are quick , mainly use intensive 60, much better clean than a top loaders and unlike our old ones is fairly gentle on clothing and fast.

If this machine lasts 5 years or longer I’ll be very happy.

Great washing machine – Whilst being happy with out purchase, we've found that the warm setting does shrink our clothes, which is pretty normal as far as I'm concerned. It's quiet in operation, and has a fair few decent features which we haven't tried yet. One thing that I'm disappointed about is half the time the door isn't shut properly, and the machine will beep in alert which usually involves another push to lock it into place.  Show details

Very happy with this product! – First washing machine and no dramas. Part of the rubber around the door did come off but it was in warranty and easily repaired. Before buying read reviews about the noise, but personally haven't noticed. There is a slight lag with the washing finishing and then being able to open the door, but minor issue. Definitely would recommend!  Show details

Works well, no complaints – Have had this washer for over 3 months now it averages 1 load per day. Positives: I use the 30 min wash for most clothes that have been worn but are not "dirty". grease / diesel I use the 1 hour wash and it cleans everything well.

For sheets & towels I use the Mix wash cycle again, everything comes out clean and fresh.

Negatives:

No spin only cycle - only a rinse and spin, a pain when you've done hand washing that simply requires a short spin cycle.

Must admit when in a hurry I have found the delay time of a few minutes between the musical notification that the wash is complete and being able to open the door an annoyance but really that is only minor.

Overall I'd buy it again.
