Bought this machine for its impressive size and “10yr warranty on direct drive motor”. Little did I know that the motor was the LEAST of my problems. Machine constantly leaks and has caused rust to grow on several parts of the exterior (which looks terrible). We’ve put up with the leaking because we were out of the warranty period and were unable… Read more
to get help. Now the machine will only take detergent from the pre-wash section of the drawer (yes we have cleaned it out) and it keeps giving up the OE code when it’s time to rinse and spin. The only thing that seems to fix it is restarting the machine, however sometimes it takes 2-3 attempts just to finish a single load. It’s definitely not an “unbalanced load” issue, because it happens when im even trying to wash 3 towels! For $1500 (PLUS $300 for the drawer underneath) I’m absolutely appalled at the trouble this machine has caused and will never buy another LG again.
Beware – I purchased this machine 2 years ago and I have found a rust hole as big as a five cent piece. I called LG and sent them photos of the rust. Without anyone coming to look at the machine I was informed a week later that they have Reviewed my case and they have come to the conclusion that it’s rust cause was from an over use of detergent.. how do… Read more
they know that? This makes me so angry that I will be taking this further.. buyer beware LG after sales care doesn’t care.
Good machine – Bought this machine after our last one let go. Very pleased with all the different functions, specially the fast 14 and the timer option. It is very quiet compared to our last one. Only downfall is that even with the crease care option shirts come out very wrinkled. Apart from that very well priced machine. Show details
Can live without this machine – Hi, had this machine for 4 years now and still going strong. Washes beautifully with no wear and tear on clothes like top loaders. Uses less water and less detergent. The only negative is that the steam (hygiene wash) option makes the whole house stink. It took me weeks to get rid of the smell in the machine when I washed my dogs bedding in there.… Read more
Now I just use cold water which is fine and regularly do a drum clean cycle. My 2nd large lg front loader. First one lasted 9 years with use every day for family of 5. All I can say is that I always purchase product care with everything I buy as it’s not only peace of mind but so much better to deal with then any of the manufacturers...lg Electrolux, F&P etc. usually no questions asked and replace if not happy. My door had a crack in it and they replaced the door even though it was cosmetic and I probably slammed it too hard. Another thing to note, I was told the capacity is actually 15kg not 10kg. at the time they were marketed this way as they couldn’t sell a 15kg domestic machine only commercial. I think that has changed now though. I have seen smaller 10kg machines so look at the drum size too not just the capacity.
impressed with washing results – I have only owned this machine for a little over a month however it has had a good work out and the washing results I am VERY impressed, our clothing and towels are noticeably brighter and can actually smell the fabric detergent. I owned an LG 9.5kg top loader before this which we had for several years before needing to upgrade and this machine… Read more
puts that one to shame, a similar model of my old one is still on the market but Ive never owned a front loader and decided based upon kilo capacity and water conservation being the big reasons for purchasing this. it is quiet, its little musical notes at the end of cycle can be turned off which is great as I have a light sleeper of a one year old so it doesn't wake him. So far I am very happy with this, we did take out product care as we do all appliances just in case. HOWEVER the only downside I have found is there is an add wash option so the machine will stop and you can open the door as the drum leans backwards in this machine, the door has leaked on me after I have added items, never during a wash cycle doing its own thing, only when I add things but in saying that its not ideal but its not astronomical amounts. I avoid add wash because of this. we also purchased the stand/draw for it to raise the machine.
Why did I wait so long! – This machine does a fantastic job. It really gets my washing super clean. It's super gentle on delicates and can knock over the the really dirty stuff, no troubles. Super quiet, water efficient and a great range of wash cycles to suit every scenario. Very pleased with the product and highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade to a large load (10 kilo) capacity. Show details
Terrible performance, terrible customer service – We bought this washing machine to make life easier due to its large capacity. It has doubled my workload. My husbands work clothes, which are filthy have to be washed twice to get nothing but an average result. My white towels have shadows of stains still left on them. I had a pair of white pants which had cigarette ash fall on them, washed them… Read more
twice, mark still there. I eventually ran them under the tap and removed the stain with nothing more than cold water and my thumbnail. I've emailed pictures to LG at their request and still have no response. Every time I call customer service (hahaha) they promise faithfully they will call me back. This has not happened once. When I compare the wash results with my Electrolux front loader, it's night and day. My wash used to come out perfectly, with no need to use pre-wash treatments or run everything on a heavy duty cycle. I have not changed my washing powder, my husband has not changed jobs. The only thing that has changed is my washing results. What galls me the most is that customer service question me whether I know how to wash. I will never, but ever purchase another LG product again and will continue to keep contacting LG until they resolve my issue. This machine is as woeful as their customer service.
This beast is the best machine we've ever had – When our 10kg Samsung died within the warranty period we got a refund and looked for something different. At $1499 plus $300 cashback plus $300 Harvey Norman gift card, it was an absolute bargain. The stainless steel model is 1.5 times bigger than any other 10kg washer I have seen. We joke that it's the washer that thinks it's a fridge. Check out… Read more
the dimensions on the LG website and make sure it's going to fit. The salesperson told me that 10kg washers are all pretty similar to smaller models and even he was surprised when he looked up the website and realised how big this baby is. I can wash all linens from three bedrooms in one go and it's a rare day that I ever have to do two loads, even when two dirty washing baskets are full to overflowing. We are doing half the loads each week which has made a tremendous difference to a high volume washing family. After setting our favourite cycle the kids are easily able to put on a load and clothes come out clean, perfectly rinsed and well spun. I have tried the duvet cycle but haven't yet used any delicate cycles. To be honest it doesn't seem necessary as everything is coming out really well. I was positively excited the first time I used the "add item" function a few minutes after a cycle had started. There's always that one sock that gets away and now you can put it in without restarting the load. I also use the start delay so wake up with the clothes washed and ready to go out in the morning. I wish we had got one of these years ago as it has really saved us time during busy school/work weeks. There was some tapping for a few seconds the first couple of times the machine started but I opened up the cold water tap as far as it would go and it seems to have fixed it. Overall I would highly recommend this machine to any big family who are high volume washers and want a machine that can keep up.
Good machine – I found this machine to be very good, easy to use and fits a large amount of clothes in the one wash saving time as less loads are required. Clothes come out clean. Good number of wash cycles. Would be nice if you were able to adjust the ring volume and repeat time like my old machine, but this is only a small thing. It dose have some water… Read more
hammer when filling. Has to be caused by machine as the machine next to it and old machine have never done this.
Waste of a lot of good money – Noisy hammering at the start of every load. Washing comes out wet for each and every load whether you put in a small, medium or large load to the point where it feels like if the clothes were any wetter the water would drip from them even though it was on the highest spin cycle. I went to the store of purchase and was told to ring the lg service… Read more
as this was not right. I called and after some trouble shooting hints the lady said she would book In a service and if he could not fing a fault I would have to pay the fee of $160 . I have had this washer all of 11 days and regret this purchase for all the 11 days this $1,599+$70delivery & install +$300extra warranty machine has been in my house. I don't know whether to go ahead with the service and risk paying more than what I have already paid or just put up with the machine for the next 10 years or so! I am so disappointed and would say do not buy one of these machines.
Right on! – I totally agree with you on this issue. I thought it was just us that had this problem. Actually, the hammering was so severe that it burst our pipes. After a $4000 plumbing bill and $1500 x 2 quarters water bill due to the pipes under the house leaking, we are deciding to get another machine. We also put the arresters on and the problem is not as bad but it is still hammering......beware!!!!
