Bad at cleaning and doesn’t like to spin properly – I inherited this when I moved house, and when this thing kicks the bucket, I shan’t be going near anything LG that’s for sure! Practically never washes anything properly. If there’s anything more than half full, you’ll get a wash, but anything other than light soiling will not shift. Loves loves loves to go to UE code (unbalanced load) and… Read more
then just stops. What’s worse, there is no straight spin cycle, so you’ve got to re wash the whole thing again.
I utterly hate this machine. Don’t buy LG!
Excellent washer no issues at all – Extremely happy with the washer. No issues at all and worked so well for the last 7 years for us and now we have upgraded to another LG 12kg washer series 10 this time and a 9kg LG dryer all in black. Can’t go wrong with all of our LG Electronics!! Love them so much and only draw back is that LG products we’ve been using never breaks down or have any issues with them. Thanks LG Show details
I've had this machine for about 13 years without issue. I paid about $1100 from one of the big places (can't remember). After 11 1/2 years the big rubber seal around the opening developed a small tear causing a leak. I had it replaced for a couple of hundred dollars. The paint under the soap drawer is compromised by soap and/or softener… Read more · 1
dribbles.
I always leave the door open when not in use to ensure the machine dries out inside and to prevent mould. I do not use any tub cleaners other than vinegar and a hot rinse occasionally. Had I wiped up the dribbles and soap powder spills immediately I think the paint would still be good.
The machine has always worked well so money well spent.

Poor Quality - Rusting - The only thing worse than the product is the LG comments to avoid warranty - Buy Something Else – I bought in 2016. Less than 5 years later it started peeling and rusting on the front. I called LG and they said, it isn’t covered by their warranty and must have been from “inappropriate use” then the door handle broke. The only way we have used it, is as a washing machine. The customer service denial about their faults to avoid helping is another reason to buy something else. Show details

Still doing well after 5 years – I bought this machine mid-2015 and wash 2-3 times/week. I also do some fabric dyeing in this machine. I have also washed woollen doonas (single size) and regularly wash wool and silk knits. I haven't had any problems with anything I've washed so far. It washes well even on the shorter cycles. The 30-minute quick wash is very handy (although only… Read more · 1
takes 3kg). My go-to cycle is the Mixed load which can take up to 5kg and is done in 55 minutes (including higher than usual spin speed of 1400 RPM).
I find the Cotton Cycle and the Eco Cotton cycle both very long. It would be good to have more information on the water and electricity use of each cycle so as to work out what's worth doing. If either of those was much better than the Mixed cycle, I'd wash overnight using the timer, and have a load ready to hang in the morning.
I like that the machine senses the load size and uses less water for smaller loads.
There are both hot and cold water connections, but I've found that the hot water isn't used on lower temperature washes (<=40C) which is as high as I ever use. I wanted to use my solar hot water for warm washes, but that hasn't worked out. Also, I just discovered in the manual that the incoming hot water must be less than 65C, so it's possible that my HW is too hot for the machine to use.
Absolute Rubbish of a Machine didn’t last 3 years – Purchased this machine in August 2015 after reading many glowing reviews. Seems I should have rung my local Appliance Repair Man and got his honest opinion rather than user/consumers ideas on this machine. 2 years and 7 months into owning this machine it simply did not power up. Never had a fault code and cleaned and checked all filters regularly.… Read more
Can’t use the smart diagnosis to find out what’s wrong as it doesn’t work without power. After being told by LG it’s out of warranty I call a local repair man. He attends and is not surprised that this machine has lasted less than 3 years. Apparently he is called many times a day to this similar machine. This machine has 3 different and separate electrical boards that can cause trouble. The mechanic could not specify which board was causing the issue and it was either replace one or all the boards at a cost of $400-$900. The machine cost $1000 and even if I replaced these boards you have no guaranteed this fixes the problem. So basically it’s a throw away landfill job. There is not a broken wire or spec of dust inside this machine and I don’t even use hot cycles. To say I am cranky is an understatement. This machine is cheap crap and testament to our throwaway society. I replaced a 25 year old Hoover with this piece of junk. Never again. I hope that I can help any person reading reviews on this machine to be wary as 3 electrical boards mean 3 times the chance of break down. I am going to fork out a lot more money now for a manual non digital Speedqueen by Kleenmaid washer which has no computer. Used in most commercial laundries due to its longevity. Will never buy another LG washing machine in my life. Hope this helps anyone not to buy a LG WD14130D6 front Loader 8.5kg it’s garbabe and can’t eben be given away for scraps!!
Great machine – Purchased this on Choice magazine's recommendations and have been very happy. My second front loader (first was an Electrolux, also the model recommended by Choice, but when it broke down after 2 1/2 years and the technician who diagnosed the fault advised it was too expensive to repair, I bought an LG) after a lifetime of top loaders (Simpson).… Read more · 1
Although washing cycles are longer, the front loader is so gentle on the clothes, using minimal energy and water ( Intelligent Wash System detects the size of load and water temp and then determines the optimum water level and washing time). Quiet and no vibration, LG has very good dirt removal and when choosing a fast spin, drying time is shorter. I wash for 2 adults and use only a few of the many options. Owner's manual has been very useful and has a trouble shooting guide. Owners who have a problem with vibration may need to ensure their machine has been correctly installed and ensure they have removed the transit bolts.

5 years of heavy use – 5 years for a family of 5. Not too bad. Seems like a part has gone so will be up for 200 labour. There is a cheap rotator cuff that gets stripped and hence it doesnt work. Maybe if they used a proper alloy etc it would be better? 10year warranty is not bad BUT you have to pay much more in someone to do it! It has been good up until now so hope it… Read more
lasts for another 5. THe repair from ACT just changed the whole motor so pretty good and should last another 5 years. OH clean the filter i had no idea there was one, found lottttts of stuff in it like coins pegs etc etc etc.
Awesome washing machines – The LG washing machine has been a great addition to our home. We love the timer functionality which means we can load the dirty clothes at night and have them all done by the time we get up in the morning. It also runs very quietly even at the highest spin speed. Also being 8 kg means we don’t have to do too many loads. We did have a problem after… Read more
a few months with the digital board but the issue was resolved very quickly under warranty with a technician coming out and replacing the board.
BEST Washing machine I ever bought! – This washing machine has proven to be the best unit that I have ever bought. Handles heavily soiled clothes beautifully and I use environmentally friendly laundry powder; with terrific results every time. Operation is super quiet and the filter is quick and easy to remove and clean. NO negative comments from our family. Even my youngest (Mr 10… Read more
year old) can put a load of washing on simply by selecting our favourite wash cycle. He calls it our Super Cool Robot lol ;) The unit comes with a 10 year warranty and we bought extended warranty to ensure many more years of efficient clothes washing. The absolute best feature about this machine is that there are never any 'pulls' on the clothes ~ I've experienced that effect with many of my old washing machines, as the internal drum becomes a little worn. Three years this year and not a single problem. We love it!

Do not buy – This is absolutely the worst washing machine I have ever owned/used. It just refuses to do a full cycle. It won't spin half the time. You can have a full load, half, doesn't matter. It has been rebalanced many many times, and it still jumps around like it's not balanced. Regardless of being firm on a tiled space. Forget about washing towels,… Read more
machine cannot handle even 1. Throws the whole thing off, and just sits on the spin part of the cycle, but won't spin. Is under warranty, bought the extended warranty but they won't fix it because I need to somehow get the machine to them. Although, when I purchased the warranty they said they would send a technician out if there was ever any issues. So, the worst service as well. I am a housekeeper, and have seen this machine at a few houses. It does the same thing at their house too, so it's not just my unit.
Spin Cycle Failed after 4 Years – Bought just over 4 years ago and it has worked fine until the last 12 months where the the spin cycle has been gradually getting louder to the point now where the DB level is deafening (over 90 DB) and is an OH&S safety issue where you cannot be around the machine without Ear Safety Protection. From reading other reviews for the LG WD14024D6, it… Read more
appears to be a 'known' LG design / product fault that may involve Faulty Bearings / Direct Drive Motor. Called LG and their 'overseas' call centre offered no remedy.
Escalated to their case manager who stated in writing that the LG Washing Machine is not expect to last more than 4 years therefore LG could offer no remedy under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Great machine for 4 Years – Bought 5 years ago and had no issues until 9 months ago - the spin cycle has been gradually getting louder to the point now where it’s almost deafening. Repairer told me it’s not worth fixing. Show details

Noisy drum bearings after 4 years – Had a service rep come out to tell me what I already knew - noisy bearings - he suggested to much detergent can cause this but it's been a good machine till now - 4 person household - lots of runs - has always been pretty noisy though - we live in townhouse - machine in cupboard on 3rd floor and rattles the house a bit. Over $500 to fix probs won't bother - guy even suggested buying a new one! Show details
Just under 4 years and its about to go – This is not a bad washing machine we have used it 5 days a week but just under 4 years usage noticing the drum bearings are wearing out so getting a very loud jet engine sound on spin cycle . LG labels its motors with 10 year warranty but this is very misleading perhaps a joke to consumers once the bearings go its not covered under the… Read more
10 year motor warranty and its way too expensive to fix and the washing machine will be simply be tossed out.
Does not spin ! – I have an LG front loader 7.5kg (WD14023D6) and it often cannot complete a full final spin at the end of the wash. It will get stuck at the 8 min time stamp and loop on itself many times until I manually intervene to split the load. This happens very very often. One instance I had only half a load and it could not complete a full cycle. Just… Read more
today I wanted to spin 1 jeans (by itself) and the machine could not even complete the spin.
I have logged a case with the LG servicing department and I have been going back and forth with them for over 1 month.
Is this what I expect from LG? #disappointed
Broke down exactly 2 months out of warranty – Although the washing itself was fine, it was typical consumerism that the machine broke down when it just went out of warranty. And of course, a broken motherboard which was gelled so not easy to fix. We only got a bit less than 1800 washing cycles out of our machine, which is not enough for the price we paid for the machine. Very disappointing… Read more
and after having already written Samsung off for exactly the same reason, we will now, unfortunately, have to add LG to the "do not purchase" list.
Rubber seal came off – Lasted short of 4 years. Rubber seal on front door came off during washing using cotton eco cycle and flooded the floor. Paid for extended warranty but apparently does not cover rubber seal. Very disappointed. Don't be fooled by 10 year warranty! Requested for repair but cost too expensive. Service center arent helpful at all very poor communication. Show details
Lasted less than 5 years – I loved this washing machine. It cleaned the clothes well and used little water but just on 4 years it started to gush water. I called out service repairer but it cannot be fixed...there is a hole in the drum. A $2 coin that slipped through the pocket emptying ritual is apparently the culprit. Very disappointing as I would expect at least ten years from a machine. Show details
Ok – Rubber keeps ripping from inside door. Happened twice in 2 years. Hopefully extended warranty will cover repairs. First rubber tear was covered. Was told it was a about $250 for repair if i hadn't purchased warranty Now possibly bearing are faulty as the machine does't spin to its prior potential. Friend told me after 2 years he had to… Read more
replace bearings in his machine Don't buy this machine. The Good Guys are not at fault. They've been great. Clean around rubber buildup of detergent. and filter to keep warranty Rubber tear not covered by warranty
No wonder it’s a discontinued model – Just a couple of months before the end of its 2 year warranty small leaks start to appear. Call out a service rep couple of days before the warranty expires to replace the seal. Sure enough faulty seal is our fault as we didn’t clean it weekly, and we left an item of clothing across the seal when we closed the door - not sure how that’s even… Read more
possible. After doing some research appears this is a common fault with this product, ironic on the front of the machine it has a sticker stating durability and 10 year warranty on the direct drive.
Lasted less than 4 years – This machine stopped working last Friday, a week short of 4 years since our purchase from the Good Guys Ballina. Black oil streaks were evident on a hand towel, tea towel and small cotton floormat after an eco wash last Friday. When I looked closely and felt around inside the stainless steel drum, my fingers emerged with black grease on them and… Read more
the drum made a loud grating metal sound at the back when I rotated it. The repairer I contacted advised that it was extremely likely to be a main bearing and oil seal that had failed, and it was going to be a very labour intensive repair - very expensive even if LG honoured their warranty of free parts for major faults for 10 years from purchase.
Contacted LG who offered to send a repair person to assess the machine, but advised that if it was found to be fault free I would have to pay for the callout. I agreed, but when LG next contacted me the story had changed. Now I was to be charged for the callout and for the labour cost for replacing the main bearing if it was found to be worn out. LG also sent me a patronising email suggesting that the marks on the items had been caused by "SCRUDS" which can occur after a build up of detergent in the machine. I have never used fabric softener or washing powder in this machine (only eco friendly liquid) and often used very hot wash cycles as we have solar hot water. In their email LG failed to address the grating metal noise in the drum I had told them about which they said could only be confirmed by the repair person.
Contacted Good Guys Ballina who said the machine is out of 2 year manufacturer's warranty, you didn't buy extended warranty insurance so there's nothing we can do for you.
I decided to replace the machine, having had nearly 4 years of use at 3 or 4 washes per week for a 2 person household for $799! I didn't purchase extended warranty insurance because this machine was advertised as a having a Direct Drive motor which LG claimed would be more reliable and less noisy than other models. The poor quality of their products apparently means that customers are obliged to purchase extended warranty insurance to guarantee a reasonable life for the product. I would expect a reasonable life for an $800 washing machine to be 6-8 years.
Not good enough LG - I would not recommend anyone waste their money on an LG product.

Good support but product needs improvement – Update - LG has now agreed to help. This time technician discovered a socks slipped into tub gasket gap and got somewhere in the machine causing it not to do spin cycle. He had to dismantle machine to remove it. displayed for this fault.
LG has manged to demonstrate the intent to help a customer. May be it is a freak accident but hopefully it is a learning experience for LG to improved product or put correct washing instructions in the manual.

Well Australian consumers have legal rights for quality and product life is quality indicator. So what kind of life you expected from a washing m/c that company claims 10 Year Direct Drive Motor Warranty.
The machine lasted UNDER 4 yrs. It won't do spin cycle and leave laundry wet. LG support was bit helpful reluctantly agreed this is unacceptable, tried to fix. It lasted another week. Fixed again it lasted another few months. Now won't help any more.
Don't be fooled with good reviews most of these are before machine has been used for long enough. The product is discontinued. This will give you enough hint what quality it is.
Great – This is a great washing machine. Clothes come out looking good. I like that you can open the door if you've missed something (it always happens). It can get a bit noisy when spin drying at 1400rpm but it's only for a short period of time so it's no biggy. It has many cycles and speeds etc to choose from too. washing done in 30 min is pretty good when you have two young children. I don't feel like I spend all weekend doing housework.
Amazing wool cycle – I have always handwashed/ drycleaned sweaters and wool garments at the end of winter and dread the hassle. This time I decided to test the wool cycle on the machine with some trepidation. It was incredibly good on even alpaca/wool blends and synthetic and wool blends. They were also perfectly spun so that they were half dry. There was no shrinkage… Read more
at all, they were not mishapen in any way. I love this machine in every way but wanted to let others know that they can trust the wool cycle.
Fabulous washer - smooth and quiet – Delighted with our purchase. Had it now for about 10 months and it does all it claims perfectly. Adjustable spin speed is a boon and the 1400RPM mode speed drying times considerably. Great to be able to set for Spin Only or Rinse and Spin Only - love it. Much quieter than our previous LG front loader that liked to take a walk around the laundry. This one is smooth and quiet and a selection of program cycles to suit the fussiest among us. Show details
great machineb – cleans and rinses real well and also good on short cycle ,, does not damage the clothes and easy to set and forget, plus will let you know when finished .also have had no problems at all with machine and still washes as good as the day purchased. great machine Show details
Good washing machine – It cleans and rinse well, removes tough stains if I put Vanish in it. Have multiple functions and you can choose your favorite. Quite loud, but it doesn't matter if it sits in laundry, you can't hear it from other rooms. Have stylish design and possibility to choose different spinning options. Show details
This is the Noisest WM and Drums around on spin mode making a helicopter noise – This machine from day dot started out quiet but for only a couple of months, now and has been very noisey, wobbles and sounds like a helicopter in the house. I have done everything to secure it, really sounds like something loose or faulty and this model should be Recalled. I have not made contact with LG regarding this issue, just could not be bothered to here this is due to misuse. Show details
Ok Machine (to a point) - Terrible After Sales Service – Rubber seal tore after a year which caused the machine to leak from the door. leaking during a load one day and on further investigation found that the rubber seal had split.
Despite my machine still have 12 months warranty left, including parts, LG Rep then told us the rubber splitting is usually the customers fault and we would more than likely have to cover the callout fee as well as the replacement seal. This is before ANYONE HAD SEEN THE MACHINE.
In addition, the lettering around the program dial telling you the wash cycles is wearing off already. So there will soon come a time when I wont even be able to tell what wash cycle I'm using. Of course, this was also my fault.
"What chemicals are you using to clean it ?"
"NONE - I use a damp cloth. That's it."
"Are you sure ?...."
I have no choice but to have it repaired, however, I am really angry at the likelihood that I will have to pay for the repairs myself only 1 year after purchasing this machine.
LG - you are kidding.
Your 24 month warranty is a complete farce, because as soon as a customer contacts your company with a problem, your Repair Service rep will undoubtedly accuse the consumer of misuse from the get go.
Absolutely disgusted.
Great and easy use product – This washing machine did pretty compared with our old Electrolux front loader. This is weigh more quiet than our previous one, even our cats sit on the machine sun bathing when the machine is running. Great to have multiple functions and can tailor to your favourite so you do not have to set it again and again every time. Show details
Best washing machine I've ever owned – I love this machine. The wash is the cleanest form any machine i've ever used, and the spin cycle works a dream. a problem.
I very quickly learnt smaller more frequent loads were the best way to go. I have also washed blankets, curtains and a floor rug all without any problems and good stain removal/cleaning.
It is in the laundry so noise is not a problem, I found it made about as much noise as a dishwasher.
Overall I am very pleased with the performance.
This machine is good for washing cleanliness but lets itself down in the dryi g dept and also lint r – Cleans well does not dry well. Quiet machine but let down by the dryer and by its bad lint removal capabilities. If you are looking for dry clothes on completion then think again. The clothes come out wet not damp.
