Ten years old, 8000+ loads, never missed a beat and still going strong – [update June 2025: finally, after more than 15 years, it looks like it's the end of the road: the heating element has failed, and is replaceable, but it's also started to sound like a jet plane taking off: suspect the bearings/etc are finally shot. I wish I could buy another exact same unit.] We bought this washer around 2009, maybe early 2010;… Read more · 1
with a family of six including four boys it's had a real workout with multiple loads nearly every single day. Probably north of 8,000 loads, maybe even over 10,000, over all that time.
It's still going strong today and hasn't missed a beat (hopefully I'm not jinxing our good run here :-). All I've had to do is clean out the filter every so often (probably not as often as I'm supposed to...).
It does have a tendency to "go walkies" during the spin cycle, I put a rubber mat under it to minimise this problem and make it easier to push back in its place.
Terrible quality, breaks down and doesn't wash well – I bought this machine 7 years ago.Paid $1199 for it after being convinced by Choice reviews. I have had nothing but problems. In first 12 months the internal orange spray nozzle got blocked with lint...there is no error message to tell you it has happened, you have to sit and watch the machine to see if water it spraying out of the top near the… Read more
front...if it's blocked then the water doesn't get circulated,so no proper washing or rinsing. I made a warranty claim, but it was denied and had to pay $200. The nozzle can only be cleaned by pulling out the front door seal and disconnecting it from internal hose and pulling out the nozzle...took me 2 hours today, and it's probably a bit difficult to do for most people. Then also within 12 months the door latch handle broke. After 7 years the machine is now rusting on the front panels..even though it's kept clean and dry. Overall I think the design is rubbish. The wash quality has never been good,no mater which program. Also, the machine has a hot and cold inlet, and I'm connected to both. However the machine won't draw water from the hot inlet,it always takes it from the cold and heats the water itself, which is highly inefficient, and not what it's supposed to do....again there are no error messages. Pile of junk overall, and I would never buy an LG washer again ,I think the newer ones all follow the same design.
Great Machine Handle Sucks – I've had the machine for over 5+ years still going strong. Used everyday, the only issue i've had is the handle has broken ( Seen two other reviews of the same issue ) It's a faulty part design should be made of aluminium encased in plastic outer shell, I'm hoping LG will give me a free replacement handle as i have some ammo due to the fact two other people experienced the same issue. Cheap handles – I purchased this machine 4 years ago, was happy with it and suggested to my daughters to buy the same machine, as they recently moved out of home. When you put your fingers, in to open the door, there is a cheap plastic part that has snapped off on all 3 machines. I just rang LG to see if it was a fault with these machine, they told me to call a… Read more
repairer. Its a bad design fault, its obviously gonna have a lot of use, seeing as we use it everyday to open the door. LG, not good enough!!
Great machine – We have had this machine since 2010 and as a family of 4 gets an average work out. It has been great, washes very well and minimal water. The wash cycle we always use takes 65 mins so not sure what the issue is with long was times. There is also a 30 minute wash which is excellent. We get an excellent load into thus machine and you load a front… Read more · 2
loader different to a top loader there should not be much free space when loaded. We also have a bosch (same age) for an appartment and it has longer wash times, is noisier and doesnt wash anywhere near as well. I doubt the European brands live up to they're reputations these days as they are made in the same factories with the same components as the Asian brands. I think you now pay for the name.
Think and think again! – Good, saved water than previous one, silent but not until recently when it started to spin too slow on all settings. Spin setting became useless, stays in the "7min" mark forever and wouldn't stop unless done manually. Door handle also got broken. Age is 5 years, too young to suffer faults like this. Warranty is only on the motor(10 years) but not on parts. Not happy with the product and will consider other brands. Show details
Washes great but parts are rubbish! – This machine is 3 years old and is used regularly. It washes well and I am happy with the different wash options; however, the parts used are cheap and breaking! The plastic handle on the door has recently snapped off and the rubber seal tore, so water leaks out of my machine when I use it. I contacted LG who told me that they would not help me,… Read more
and I would have to pay a technician to fix the parts. Considering that a machine this expensive should be able to withstand normal use, I would expect the basic components to last longer than 3 years. I will never buy an LG appliance again.
Worked beautifully until the plastic drum cracked Not even 3 yrs old !!! – Was working just fine until last week - increasingly more water on laundry floor after each use. Only 2 of us (retired) use it We had a Miele for 27 years + 2 kids - no problems until the dampers wore out. Even believed Choice as they rated the LG as the best ever !! Well come and test ours now. Still has a 10 yr warrenty on motor though Big deal
Love it – I purchased this washer dryer combo four months ago. Very easy to use. I find the 30 minute fast wash program washes very well. I have added a second rinse and knocked back the spin speed as the towels were rather stiff and crisp. fixed the problem. I haven't had the need to use the dryer as yet. It fits quite a lot of clothes in and is very… Read more
quiet. It even sings me a song when it's finished. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase. I had an LG top loader prior to this which is still going stong 15 years on passed onto a friend.
Fantastic no issues just keeps on going and going!!! – I had to write a great review as this machine has been used every day for years and not once has it played up or these been any issues. I bought an extended warranty which I guess I'll never use. We have been so happy that have told my wife when we next look for a TV we are going with LG and will certainly consider Korean brands when it comes to… Read more
other purchases. We bought it from Betta Electrical who were also very good to deal with. Update 2020 still going great. Aus can learn a lot form some Asian manufacturers.
My best washing machine so far – I bought this washing machine about 2 years ago from The Good Guys. Very reliable. I can throw a lot of washing at once 8kg!. It helps A LOT because I have 5 children, limited time for myself! and i really need a reliable & tough washing. If I have a heavily soiled clothes, i can just choose the steam cycle with extra rinse. If I need things… Read more
quickly or I feel like saving some money, I can just choose a short 30 minutes cycle.
And in winter, I can wash & dry with just a push of a button. Oh this machine is built for me. I just cannot imagine living without it anymore. Thanks LG Gives me options. Reliable. Quiet. Sturdy. No lint collector. All junks, pins, tissues collected at the door of the machine.
Brilliant – Absolutely best washer for money. I do ALOT of washing, this machine keeps up perfectly. Quiet operation and love the little song at the end. Wish the dryer that matched was sold in this country or the drawer lifts but ah well. Love LG. door sometimes doesn't realise it's closed, not a big deal. Lots of washing cycle options, really easy to use. Everything, strong motor Gunk collects in the drain at the front, holes too small
Poor rinse, long cycles – Some of the reviews on this page are confusing as my WD14030D6 is neither a washer/dryer combo nor a steam washer, and the WD14039D6 is simply the same machine in red. How do we all have different appliances with the same number? I bought this machine after much research - and while I'm happy with the quality of the wash (which is great),… Read more
I'm not at all happy with the machine's ability to rinse (thanks to it's high water efficiency) or its load capacity. Yes, it's an 8.5kg machine - which is technically the biggest I've owned - but the tub is much much smaller than my old 7.5kg top loader and out of 14 different wash cycles, only two can take a maximum load of 8.5kg (and they are the longer cycles). The other 12 cycles vary in maximum loads from "less than 3.0kg" to "less than 5.0kg". I certainly wish I'd known that before purchasing. I cannot wash my king bed fitted & flat sheets and pillowcases in one go - not even on the 8.5kg cycle - the load is too bulky and rather than tumbling they merely go round and round. Which means washing the sheets from just my bed takes the best part of an afternoon.
We have mild allergies in our family and although I use minimal powder (Omo sensitive - less than 1/4 of the recommended dose) and the skincare cycle, I find I still need to manually add extra rinses or we get itchy. To test the theory, I've manually added extra water during a final rinse cycle, and suddenly bubbles (washing foam) appears. That being said, one upside is you only need to use a tiny amount of powder - so it lasts forever! Very economical from that point of view, so the quality of the wash is certainly no issue.
On the whole, since purchasing this machine I feel like I spend my life washing. My hubby has wanted me to replace it since it was about two months old but I can't get my head around replacing a new appliance (that should last us years) after such a short time and even if I did, I don't know what I'd replace it with since this machine apparently rates so highly. If I want an excellent wash *and* thoroughly rinsed clothes, I am looking at an hour and a half minimum for a small load and with two small children and the washing towels and bedding makes in a week... the machine is running a lot. I regret my purchase and wish I had known a bit more about the machine (ie the actual maximum load ratings and the vastly reduced water used in the rinse cycle) before purchasing. Excellent wash, not noisy, able to do a 'spin only' cycle, able to add clothes after cycle start Poor rinse, long cycles, load capacity for most cycles much less than 8.5kg

Great Machine – The scariest bit is reading the manual. The machine basically is straight forward it's hard to do anything wrong with it. Favourite button is a little useless as you can only store one favourite, not a favourite for each different cycle. Washing times are long but I tend to use mostly the 30 minute cycle and once a month run a long hot wash to… Read more · 4
clear the cobwebs out of the machine. Steam wash is fabulous, you don't think it will work but each time I use it I'm very impressed with the results. All cycles come out fresh, clean and soft. My kids socks used to come out stiff in the old tub but with this machine, they come out almost/if not soft. You can use the time save button to reduce the time of a wash, especially good when choosing some of the longer settings eg. cotton and by using the rinse hold you get to leave the clothes suspended in water until you are ready to spin and hang out, good for when you decide to go out. I used to come home to spun, stinky clothes in my last machine, having forgotten them. I looooove the refresh cycle too - good for towels and shirts that are a little creased. I love the musical tune it plays at the end of a cycle, and everything about it. Some cycles lengthy.
I have had the machine approximately 3 years now and it is showing a lot of rust spots around the dispensor. I think this is a fault of this machine, maybe the paintwork is not thick enough. It is still going well apart from this cosmetic challenge.
Amazing!! – Ive owned the LG WD14030D6 for 3 months now and I think its time to review it. After owning 2 whirlpool front loaders with in the space of 12 years, using the LG is like living in clothes washing paradise ( yes i know it sounds insane). The first whirlpool washing machine i owned, was soo noisy, slow and annoying, it did last me 10 years but it… Read more · 4
sounded like a jet plane taking off. The Second whirlpool washing machine was worse! It lasted less than 2 yrs, it was noisy, took well over 2 and 1/2 hours to do a full load of washing and it broke within a year n a half ( fortunately I didnt get warranty with it, as it caused me too much grief that i just wanted to move on and find another brand).
Using the LG WD14030D6 is so easy! Love the choice of 14 wash programs, temp control, the 8.5 kg capacity ( biggest washing machine ive owned), spin control setting, crease care, time saver, tub clean and omgoodness the quiet inverter! I've never experienced a front loader machine that is soo quiet! I use the surf liquid capsules in the machine, Great Combo! If anyone can recommend a cleaning agent for tub clean, please let me know ;D would be greatly appreciated!
Btw thank you for all the reviews before my purchase, they really helped me come to the conclusion of buying this brand and type of washing machine ;D it truly helped!
I no longer fret about annoying the neighbors with the loud sounds of a washing machine taking off like a jet plane! Its so quiet, alot of choices in functions, easy to use. Doesnt take as long in wash cycles compared to old whirlpool machines. Oh you can have the choice for rinse and spin and just spin. Doesnt make dinner, clean the house, make me cups of tea or greet me with breakfast each morning...;D
