LG WT-R10686 Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhat is the best setting for gentle washing of woollen garments?
hi I've got LG WT-R10686 displaying error code LE and the drum seems locked already replaced the hall sensor please help!
Hi Danny, we had same issue, appliance repairer replaced the motor but seals leaked, unfortunately we had to put the machine out for council collectors and we had to buy a new machine. We did not buy another LG, we bought an Electrolux front loader, it’s been good but lately developed a leak, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that either. Good luck Dave
Is their a lint filter I can buy to put in this model? Also it smells???
When I press the start button the de error comes up and I can't start my machine. Any help?
Purchased this machine back in May 2014 and from day 1 there has been an odour coming from inside the machine when washing is done. It is a musty, dirty smell that comes and goes and lasts for a few hours and permeates the laundry. On the advice of LG have had a repairman look at it twice and obviously can't find anything wrong as the odour is not there when he comes. Everything seems to be in working order. Have done the trouble shooting requests as well all to no avail. This has been happening for 1 year. Have tried to get LG to replace it or get refund but they refuse saying that it is not a manufacturing fault as no one can prove the odour. Don't know what to do. Very disappointed. Could you please help?
Hi How did you know I'm a good problem solver? You must have figured out I'm a male. Lol. Anyways, here are some thoughts and suggestions. You may have already tried these: There a two things that are worth understanding:
1. Bad smell is caused by bacteria. Kill the bacteria and the smell should go.
2. You machine is connected to s series of drainage. The bacteria could be within that network and is getting stimulated when you use the machine.
The plumbing network starts at the pipe at the back of the machine, leads to the drain (usually overflow) of the laundry tub and then through its S trap. This is all then connected to the waste trap in the floor of your laundry. All nice dark moist places for bacteria to thrive.
You described the smell as musty. That indicates a wet dry back to wet environment. Very similar to pipes and traps
So this is a process of elimination. Do all together or one step at a time
1. Use a draino type treatment on the laundry tub. Then pour one litre of pure bleach down the plug and let sit overnight. This will stay in the S trap and kill the bacteria. By the way, the s trap is designed to hold water in the pipe to prevent odour getting out. Do you have an S trap?!
2. Pour 1-2 litres of bleach down the floor waste
3. Put the machine through a long hot cycle with no clothes but half a litre of bleach in the water once it fills.
Also. Change your washing powder. bacteria can thrive in some unusual environments and they may be dining out on your type of detergent. Particularly if it's a cheapie
Finally if none of this works. Tape up your floor waste and see if the smell stops. The floor waste is a master at dispensing odour that you think is coming from elsewhere
Hi, I am looking to replace a LG 6.5kg top loader which we have had for the past 14 years with absolutely no complaints. We are looking at this machine as a viable replacement for our family of 5. Can you advise of any significant things we should be aware or ?
Hi Para The only problem I have had with the machine was the lock mucking up on me after one month. It took over 6 weeks to get fixed. I love the capacity of the machine. It can fit in a queen size doona. We have a king size bed and it fits in everything (haven't tried the doona yet). It can take an hour and a half to compete one load but you will only do half as many loads which is fantastic with a family of five. I have not used the machine to its full potential.
Don't like the fact it doesn't have a lint filter. It has a self cleaning wash but was suggested to me by the repairman to do a full load on very hot with white towels and that will do the same.
I wouldn't bother with the bells and whistles like the smart diagnosis if I was to buy this machine again. It didn't work when I was in contact with the customer service centre.
Happy enough with the machine but I wouldn't buy another LG machine after the debacle with getting the locking mechanism repaired.
Happy shopping.
I do mot recommend getting a LG Direct Drive 10kg WT-R10686 it was great for the first 10 months but now every load of washing comes out covered in lint and it doesn't matter what you do nothing works, and the machine doesn't have a lint filter to remove and clean. Will never buy LG washing machine again.
Hi Para. Please beware. We bought an LG WT-R110686 Direct Drive 10 KG Top Drive machine. Quite expensive at $1300 but we hoped it would provide a replacement for our long serving and highly reliable Kleenmaid machine. We found the comments about lack of filtering, often grubby output, very long cycle times and feeble for its size operation to be familiar and valid for us too. However, what we really drives us insane is the constant stopping of the machine and refusal to proceed unless assisted by a human. It requires virtual constant attendance to get through a wash and a lot more time, electricity and water than other peoples' comments indicate. When left alone the machine invariably stops and can waste hours of your time just nursing it through one wash. Because of the investment in the machine and the great care we take with it we never wanted to believe that it was as poor a performer as it is. We have had visits from repair men and vital part replacements and adjustments to no avail. Meanwhile the costs keep mounting. We keep spirit levels alongside the machine and endlessly test it for perfect balance and we stand near it constantly resorting the clothes content in the drum in the vain hope that the machine will somehow limp through a wash without multiple UE stoppages (supposedly unbalanced fault). L.G. ? It's derived from the amalgamation of two large Korean companies : Lucky and Golden. The machine has been neither lucky nor golden for us. The anglicized version of the name is "Life's Good" . Our life was quite good with the Kleenmaid but this machine can give you a whole new and very frustrating life style. No wonder the repair man arrived in 10 minutes and drove off at high speed with our old Kleenmaid in his van when we told him we no longer needed it. Brian

Is it normal for the liquid detergent to come out straight away not at start of wash cycle and has anyone had issues with water dripping into machine from under liquid dispenser intermittently after wash is finished?
Yes, the liquid detergent just runs through the holes at the back of the dispenser drawer - I don't think there is much you can do about that. I personally, haven't had any problems with water dripping either......well at least I haven't noticed anyway.
On the site repairclinic.com it says that this is a common problem if you don't have sufficient water pressure. Go to the site, they have loads of tutorials and problem videos for both top loaders and front loaders
Can anyone tell me if there is an issue with tangled clothes or lint?
Thanks!
Not at all in my experience with this machine.
Yes I have the same issue
Hi, does this machine allow me to select a water temperate ? As in the actual degrees. Thanks
That is does not. Sorry.
No. It has the setting of hot, cold (or both)
Hi,just purchased this washer today and have washed a medium load of towels and a medium load of clothes,on both occasions once the machine filled with water and started washing I paused the cycle and opened the lid and noticed that towels and the clothes were not covered by water,is this normal? is it the way it washes that the clothes don't need to be fully covered,as I wasn't sure so I manually changed the level and which wash programme do people find they use the most for general clothes washing.
thanks
Hi, That sounds right for these types of machines as they are designed for low water and power consumption. The water level usually sits just below the load height but the machine has some very interesting cycles that I have not seen on a conventional top loader, if you have a glass topped version you will know what I mean. They are designed to create a similar wash pattern to that of a front loading machine but with a much greater capacity. We just choose the appropriate cycle and let the machine do it's thing. We have been very happy with the results we get from this machine hope you find the same.
