LG WTG6520 / WTG7520 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi, I’ve had the LG WTG6520 6.5 kg top loader washing machine for just a couple of years, if that. It was fine up until now! All of a sudden my clothes are covered in what looks like lint / fluff all over them! They look dirtier than before they went in! I’ve even tried to protect my clothes by using the laundry bags, but they get too crumpled up in those, and the lint / fluff ends up making wiggly line marks in the crease lines!
Where is it coming from and why is it doing this?
I clean out the internal lint filters after every wash! The water level is up a level. I’ve reduced the amount of powder detergent. I switched to a liquid detergent, still does the same thing! My black clothes look the worst! I wash lights & darks separately. I wash towels separately. I do the tub clean with the Pine O Clean 7 in 1!
Is there another lint filter somewhere else that I need to be checking perhaps?
Surely I don’t have to get rid of this machine and buy a new one already! The last washing machine I had for 18 years never did this!
Can someone please help me with this?
Thanks in advance!
I wouldn't bother asking LG for help because they won't help you. My issues started about the year mark and they claimed it was "user error". I tried everything they advised me to do, but my clothes still had bits and stains on them. I too cleaned the filters and used special machine cleaning products but it continued to ruin my clothes. I gave up in the end and gave it away. The stains and tangling of clothes must frustrated me each time I used it and I went back to a front loader, and obviously NOT an LG brand.
I have a 7.5 inverter first problem was water inlet valve when water is filling it runs out the bottom I got a new inlet valve and was all good but now same problem is still leaking could this be same problem and would or could happen if I purchase another inlet valve this was about 2 years on new inlet valve
My newly installed LG WTG7520 Top Loader washing machine appears to be perched on white foam protruding from a grey plastic surround. Doesn't seem right to me. Looks more like protective padding/packaging that's been left behind on installation.
Hi Bee, After reading your question I went and had a closer look at the base of my LG Washing Machine. It is the same as yours - gray plastic surround and underneath a darker grey foam like material. Mine was installed by the supplier Bing Lee in Armidale. The unpacking instructions are to remove the washer from the packing base & be sure that the foam tub support remains with the packing base - it would seem they both should have been removed. I will phone Bing Lee here in Armidale & mention this to them. You may like to phone the store that supplied yours and ask them about this as well. CPW
Thank you so much for your response CPW. I've been obsessed with this issue for the last week, reading the manual, scouring the LG website, ringing LG, discussing the matter with the store I purchased from, and everybody tells me it's supposed to be there. It just doesn't make sense to me. I too read the instructions but the tiny black and white diagram isn't detailed enough to give a definitive view. I may still stand corrected, but I really appreciate someone at least considering the possibility that there is something amiss. And who puts white foam under an appliance that is likely to be exposed to wet and dirt? Rant over. Thanks again for commenting. Appreciate it. Bee
my lg washing mashing displays PE can i fix this myself or do i need a repairman to do it
If it’s still under warranty I’d call to fix it.
do clothes get tangled?
If I do a load of clothes with long sleeves or legs, they tend to get completely tangled. That's the least of my concerns with this machine though. I'm sorry, but I've got nothing good to say about it.
Many thanks. I will avoid it.
Any body know how to remove the wash plate from this machine . I have a LE error saying same thing jamming this plate
l have bought a WTG7520, is it supposed to beep when it reaches the rinse cycle? Can l turn off the beeping? Thanks
My LG WTG 7529 Has always collected fluff in the Filter I do check after several washes and clean filters but in the past 3 or 4c washes the filters are completely clean ,is that a problem with machine or is it something simple like a lime scale blockage , Sylvie Dwyer , E :charles.dwyer2@bigpond.com
What does the LE error mean on this machine. I got it first time it tried to spin and never does the spinning. I can't seem to find the receipt so I couldn't get warranty
I have never had this, but according to my manual, it means that there is something (coins, pins, clips etc) caught between the wash plate and the inner basket. Its not clear how you remove the object.
This was a brand new unit that was left in garage after purchase for a while. It it started working again. one thing I did was unplug and keep pause button for few seconds. then plug back and push and hold pause and spin buttons same time. but not sure which or if these actually fixed it
LG WTG6520 Spinning issue, I have washing machine that is not spinning. It is draining out completely and clutch is working okay, but there is no power output to the drive motor and it is not spinning. I really want to know what else are holding from giving output to the motor from the the control card.
Hi just wondering if anyone has had very large black coating all through there clothes and washing machine. I'm talking about as large as a 10 cent piece. Lg are saying it's skrud but it looks like some sort of coating. Tub cleaned 3 times with tub cleaning tablets and it comes back within 2 washes .
Yep. But mine are very small clumps of slime that probably comes from machine moisture that doesn't dry but probably builds up inside the bowl lining and holes. Small dust, cleaning products that should dry or be rinsed in every wash or be trapped in lint filter.
I don't clean the tub with special products though to get rid of it.
It's a common problem but brushes off very easily. Do it when damp is better.
They recommend a hot wash or tub clean monthly. You could try it now and then, it might fix it but a machine shouldn't need hot wash or clean so often. LG don't like hearing this but most brands do NOT have this issue.
Yes my WTG7520 is also getting black stuff over my clothes. When I do a wash without clothes the black stuff is floating around in the water. I don't think the water is emptying properly and maybe is getting a build up inside the bowl lining and holes like Brenda has said. I will ring LG on Monday and see what they say.
Same here. And it can leave marks on lighter clothes if yr not careful pealing it off. I thought perhaps it was a build up on the inside of the side vents/filters that are on the inside of the tub. I clean out the lint filters every wash but I can't seem to remove the other flat vents. Dies anybody know if they can be taken off & cleaned also?
Purchased WTG6520 end of July but on a quick wash the spin cycle comes up as "low". I can manually over-ride the spin cycle to achieve "mid" spin but not "high" spin. This results in longer drying time. My previous washing machine was an LG 7.5kg and I was able to override the low spin on the quick cycle to achieve a high spin. please advise.
Hi, What you can do is put the spin on manually after it has finished and just do a high spin on it's own. That's what i have found.
Thanks for the reply and yes I have done the high spin manual step after the quick wash has completed but that cycle is an extra 15 minutes. When added to the quick wash time of 33 minutes that makes the total time of 48 minutes which is not exactly a "quick wash". As I said initially, my previous machine was an LG 7.5 KG the bigger brother of my new machine. I had that machine for 5 years before it gave up the ghost and I was always able to manually adjust the spin to "high" even when the quick wash cycle was selected. I don't know why LG changed the washer computer software in the latest model which effectively prevents the owner selecting a high spin on a quick wash.
Is the ACCC aware of consumer complaints aired on this platform called 'Product Review' and if so why isn't the ACCC holding companies accountable, such as LG, for being devoid of customer service, customer care or refunding?
Why is this washing machine so bad?????
My review was on the 6.5kg washer but maybe the 7.5 is the same The major problem is your washing comes out every time covered what looks like lint You either have to hand wash items again to remove residual or let dry and brush off I clean lint filters on a weekly basis but has not improved the outcome After 2 yesrs with this washing machine its time to try a different brand Cheers
I purchased this machine in June 2020. I absolutely love this machine. If you do not clean the filters lint could be a problem. For clothes that are fluffy change the water level to the next setting. I very rarely have lint left on clothes. Synthetic track pants seem to be a magnet for lint.
This particular washing machine is an impeller type, the clothes are aggressively rubbed by these rotating nodules found at the base of the drum, and my family believes that clothing must get caught in grooves and therefore stretching, lint deposits and smearing occurs on the washed clothes. Cleaning and therefore handling the filters constantly has also led to another problem, ie if you don't pop them back in completely, the filters will dislodge into the washing machine and become damaged, as has happened to me and as a 9 month old machine, I have had to call LG to send me a new filter, thankfully for now it is still under warranty, just. This machine is deficient by design.......
Update on a 1 year old LG WTG7520 washing machine. Second filter damaged in recent wash and the one year warranty just expired. I won't sell this machine because I am about to purchase a new one during this weekend and promised myself to give it away to a soccer team. No help from Good Guys at NORTHLAND nor LG. My bad luck!
Update on a 1 year old LG WTG7520 washing machine. I have finally rid myself of this deficient machine and bought another brand (never LG again nor Good Guys) and will donate the 1 year old machine to local soccer club. The end.....
IS this machine big enough for king size sheets
Firstly, don't buy LG because they are based in the Phillipines and if you have a problem with your machine they will avoid you like the plague. Secondly, 8.0 kg washing machine is perfect for king bedding sheets.
They're Korean, do you mean the support centre is there? The machine idea is good but they have badly designed extras. Eg. Crap lint filters, hard to open and need emptying cleaning way too much.
We have had the WTG6520 for about a month now and have spent a lot of time trying to level the machine to try and stop it vibrating during the spin cycle. Mainly when it is coming up to speed or decreasing in speed. (Maybe this is part of the design and is normal as once it has come up to high speed the vibration is minimal and somewhat acceptable). The instructions indicate to look inside the drum to centre it and adjust the front feet accordingly. The rear feet having no adjustments make it necessary for us to place some non-slip rubber under both rear feet to comply with the installation instructions indicating the allowable slope under the entire appliance is to be less than 1 degree and also to get the drum in the centre. Doing all this the best we can it still vibrates. This is also with no clothes in the machine. With clothes in the machine it does get worse. There are no error codes though. Anyone else having this problem? We have looked at the Troubleshooting and ensured that the floor is rigid, all levelling feet are touching the floor, wash load is evenly distributed, and all packing materials have been removed.
Hi. We are having same problem. Have you found a solution?
Hi, The solution for us was to change to a Fisher and Paykel front loader.
Sounds like mine suspension rods are letting go all 4 of mine are getting replaced. I think when they made these machine they used cheap nasty parts and slapped a lg logo on it.
LG lid issue - My machine is only a few months old and rarely used. The lid has broken and can’t be closed. For a short time I noticed a clicking noise as the lid closed but it would still close properly and it would work. Then one day I opened the lid to find the lid itself had cracked in both corners near the hinge and pieces of plastic had broken off. This prevented the lid from sitting back into place properly therefore it can’t work anymore.
There must be some problem that caused the lid to make that clicking noise, something underneath caught, grabbing, grinding.
Has anyone else had this problem?
The response I had from LG, Betta Electrical and the service people that Betta fobbed me off to was that I broke it myself - Disgraceful attitude. I’m dealing with them appropriately through the Dept of Fair Trading.
But I really want to learn about this problem. Please let me know if anyone has had anything similar.
I am sad to read you have a lid problem My machine is washing and I am very satisfied.
Anyone else have this problem where the mechanism that closes the lid should move freely and not be stuck?
Had our machine for a month now and our lid works perfectly, no clicking noise or any grinding. It's very smooth when closing/opening.
Yes just had the same issue and LG tech has come out as ours snapped clean off without us forcing it. Only to be told our problem and that it'll cost approx $300 to fix. This is only 10 months old.
I have had the same problem, twice, our machine is around 12 months old and we have gone through 2 lids. Both craking in the same spot on the hinges. We never do full loads and never been rough on it. Terrible machine, don't buy!
We are having the exact same issue with the same machine. Told it was covered under warranty on the phone and then tried to charge us $201 for a door replacement deeming it’s not covered. The door is too heavy with the thick glass for the hinges, we have not done any damage to the machine it made the same noises over time and one day a crack slowly appeared. Taken to the office of fair trade too. What was your outcome?
I demanded a new machine because they didn't fix it within a reasonable time. I went through lots of crap with the arrogant manager of Betta Electrical in a Central West NSW town where he and his staff treated me like crap. He ended up ordering the hinge and getting his mate to put it in. The labourer told me the hinge had seized up for no apparent reason but that he sees it alot. LG are horrid to deal with. Don't buy LG and don't deal with Betta
Don't deal with LG you'll be sorry and out of pocket
I'll never buy an LG product ever again and tell family and friends not to either. I constantly buy appliances when I renovate my investment properties and will never buy an LG product. I can't believe the thousands of dollars they charge for one product and then give no service - absolutely disgusting!
Had the exact same problem. We were able to get a replacement lid only to have it start cracking again 3 months later.
I purchased my WTG7520 at the end of June 2022 and last Friday the lid completely cracked off When I rang LG about the problem as I knew it would be under warranty, after some pretty crappy customer service initially including no explanation of the warranty process and no email confirmation that my documents had been received, I was told it wasn't a manufacturing fault for the photos and I was to get a technician out to determine if it was a manufacturing fault. However if the technician didn't find it to be a manufacturing fault i.e. I did it which is absolute rubbish I would have to pay the cost of the technician and repairs Please explain to me what the purpose of having a warranty is then! Will never be buying LG again
