Stopped working after 6 weeks
Power button stopped working suddenly after 6 weeks. Tried 'reset' as advised via several google articles but no luck. Its under warranty but this shouldn't happen to a new machine.

Great Front Loader
Just bought this LG front loader from Harvey Norman. Great washing machine. Clothes come out nice and clean. Very quiet. I have to check to see if it's working. Great

Best Machine I’ve ever owned.
After owning ever owning top loader washing machines and hearing negative stories about front loaders, I decided to see for myself and took a chance on the LG 8kg front loader. WOW, I really wish I had only done it sooner. I love everything about it from its stylish modern look to when a cycle has finished. It has multiple programmed cycles ranging from your tub clean, quick wash through to a steam setting. I opted for a slightly larger machine to fit things like bedding and I comfortably fit my king size quilt set plus euro covers and 4 addit...ion pillow slips and accessory covers in 1 load and still have room for more. When in operation it’s quiet even when spinning! The feature I like best is the face it is compatible with my smart phone using the LG think app. This allows me to download extra cycles, remote start and stop a cycle, time my washing to finish for when I return for work and also let’s me know when it has finished, I always have my phone so if I don’t hear it has finished my phone sends a notification therefore I don’t forget to unload the washer. Never once have I had to spend time untangling anything after it has completed a cycle and even using a delicate/ wool cycle it washes to perfection. For the past 12 months I have had family staying with me and it is not uncommon for us to wash 4 loads of laundry a day. It has never once skipped a beat. I am truly amazed and will never own anything other than an LG front loader again. Another bonus.. it has a whopping 10 year warranty on the motor. How can you go wrong really! Best decision and investment I have ever made!

Everything about this machine is perfect!
I have owned this machine for roughly 18 months now and am over the moon with how amazing it is!!
It’s easy to use and has options for every type of fabric you wish to wash.
We wash every day, and having the 9kg is perfect for our family. We wash everything from clothing, to delicates, to towels, doonas and bed sheets. Even my son’s soft toys.
This machine is very quiet compared to other machines we’ve used and has a variety of different options.
Our washing always comes out in perfect condition, unlike our last machine that chewed quite a few...

Big capacity in a small machine
Just bought a new LG 10kg washing machine. It has the same size body as my old 8kg machine but with a 10kg drum. This is brilliant as it fits in the same space in the laundry. It has an excellent water and energy rating and has a steam clean function. Highly recommended!

Absolutely terrific machine
I replaced my old front load washing machine with the 9kg WV5. This is a washing machine only, not the dual washer/dryer unit. It is BRILLIANT. Oh so quiet and it is so easy to use. Looks good and has all of the functionality one would ever need. Great volume too which is perfect for the kids quilts etc. The opening instructions were rubbish (LG - please take note) as you need to not only unscrew the bolts at the back (known) but also then pull the black plastic inserts out (absolutely and totally not obvious). The machine cleans very well and...is perfect. The little chime at the end is an especially nice touch. I'm so happy, I have just purchased their 9kg dryer which is sadly twice the price but that speaks volumes about my happiness with the LG9kg washer.

Shakes on spin but good washer
First time user of a front loader and could not believe how much this thing shakes the house.
30 min quick wash is good, and the end cycle timer makes like so much easier. Quiet wash setting lives up to its name (outside of the spin cycle)

Would be negative stars.
Had this machine 2 1/2 weeks and it's died already. We had an LG before and it only lasted 2 years I should have known better. I will be requesting a refund as I know this will just happen again at a later date. Poor quality items and no customer service that wants to know about it.

Will be requesting a refund on this machine
Just bought this LG machine recently. My prior machine was LG and after owning it for 10 years with no issues until it died, I was adamant that I was only going to buy another LG machine as my next washer. But after having done so, I'm very disappointed. It's extremely noisy - especially towards the end of the cycle. It does wash well, but the clothes come out in a big tangled mess at the end! And I use fabric softner on all of my towel loads and they all come out terribly hard when they dry. We like our towels to be soft, not rough like ...sandpaper when drying ourselves. I thought the new model LG after 10 years would be an improvement. On a superficial side not - was hoping after 10 years the machines would play a different tune when it finishes it's cycle. I've been listening to the same tune for the past 10 years & was looking forward to something different. Do not recommend this product.

the cycle TIME should be clearly shown in the handbook so one can make an informed decision as to whether this machine is the right one for you. There is not a program for only RINSE.

Was a great little machine until now
Purchased in April 2020 for about $700.
We've owned LG washing machines since the 90s, so I felt confident in my buy.
It was a great little machine. Although a little bit noisy, it washed well and looks very stylish. I also liked that it works with my google home.
However, today, it has decided to suddenly stop working in the middle of a cycle, and won't turn back on at all. So now I have a washing machine full of water, and can't do anything until tomorrow morning. Not even a year old, and already having a major issue.

Don't buy LG - Terrible Customer Service
I bought this washer together with a Heat pump Dryer, which sits on top of it, provided you buy the extra parts needed. I paid extra for the install as well. This machine besides being properly levelled and having the heavy bulky LG dryer is really bumpy and noisy during the spinning cycle (it makes the whole thing vibrate) no matter how big or small the load is, I have tried everything and nothing works. I have dealt with multiple people at LG in the last month or so to try and get them to cover for the warranty with no luck. They messed up th...e phone numbers, they made me repeat myself every time and to top it all up, they expect me to pay $99 to their service centre for an extra "technician" who can help remove their heavy/bulky Dryer off the top of my washer for them to be able to check on the faulty washer. What a JOKE! I paid for them to be installed, I bought the extra pieces that this bulky dryer needs to sit on top of the washer and now that I need them to check on the washer, their poorly designed dryer (feel free to check reviews on TD-H802SJW) has become an extra problem/cost for me. To be fair, the sales person did tell me the Dryer was much heavier than a regular one, but I was so silly to think I would not need to move it very often and it wouldn't be much of a problem as it is all NEW! You would not expect to have issues just a few months on. LG customer service is a horrible one, I can see the same experience in other reviews, they don't care at all. When I said I would not need to incur this $99 cost for moving the appliances around if the washer was not faulty, they couldn't care less, they said it was my choice to have purchased this sort of appliance that sits on top of the other and that I needed to commit to pay the $99 if I wanted them to book the service or remove the bulky/heavy LG dryer myself first. When I explained I am a single mum, they went onto ask if someone else could do it for me, really???? To some extent they are right, it was my very poor choice to make such a stupid purchase! Do yourselves a favour. DON'T BUY LG

Disappointed & confused
We were replacing an LG top load machine which had served us very well for many years so didn’t consider any other brand. The machine works well mechanically however I’m confused as to which cycle to use because even though I purchased a 7.5kg machine the only cycle I can see that will take that load capacity is in the Steam Cycle for Cottons or Eco Cottons & both take from 2 to 3.5hrs to complete. I usually use the Mixed Fabric on cold wash which takes just over an hour however it’s maximum capacity according to the handbook is 4kg and all ot...her cycles go down in weight. When using the Steam Mixed cycle I find it doesn’t wash the items as well as the Delicate cycle but once again the maximum weight is only 4kg. So even though I bought a 7.5kg machine to do a normal weekly load I feel I’m restricted to doing smaller loads. I feel the cycle times should be clearly shown in the handbook so one can make an informed decision as to whether this machine is the right one for you. Even the store salesperson would not know the timings unless they had this machine.

For the price I’m a bit disappointed. We get a bit of dog hair on our clothes and the washing machine seems to just move it around over all the clothes in the wash instead of washing it away.. Everything comes out covered in hair.
It’s also very loud, when the water is spraying in it sounds like a rocket taking off!! Maybe mine is faulty?
Also even on the lowest spin cycle my clothes come out in one big twisted bundle.. It does a good job of washing the clothes but overall I’m a bit disappointed given the price I paid.

Excellent washer - with one fatal flaw
Replaced dying 7kg LG washer which we had always been happy with. This machine is similar, am happy with the wash quality 1 month in. 8kg is good for our family of 5 + one on the way (I wouldn't go this big if you had less people, it will be hard to fill correctly to get a good wash). It still plays the happy jingle at the end.
The one flaw that would make me reconsider my purchase is that the child lock does not prevent the washer being turned off mid-cycle!! It prevents setting changes, and it even keeps the control panel locked after it ...turns off - you need to unlock it to start a new cycle. But it doesn't lock the power button - so it is useless against a toddler. I've had to restart several loads that were cancelled mid-cycle, and will have to lock the laundry - so what is the point of a child lock?? My only other qualm is the door lock seems flimsy, and can be hard to shut - you need to be quite deliberate.

Questions & Answers
Thinking of buying this machine. Disappointed that the manual doesn’t show the time it takes for each programme. Can anyone help with providing time for each programme?
It varies depending on weight of load. I use cotton programme for everything except delicates and woolens and time varies between about 90 minutes to over three hours
I have only had this machine for a couple of weeks and struggling to figure out best cycle for towels. They are coming out scratchy rather than soft. I have used the cotton setting with an extra rinse - the cycle is long, 1:38 for current load today. Any suggestions on best wash cycle to use or how I can modify? I was used to a top loader with 30-40min cycle and would love to use the Quick 30 but according to the manual this is only for 2kg of washing, so not sure adequate for the towels.
We have just purchased the LG WV5-1408W at Harvey Norman. Our first wash was on the Cotton program - wash time 3h 40m! our previous machine was LG was 7.5kg which we had for 10 years. It also weighed the wash before starting and we never had a wash cycle which took that long. When i placed this question in the LG support chat window they replied with. . . Our unit has no specific timeframe of washing. Washing has a load sensing functionality. It detects on how long the washing cycle would take. It depends on the type of material, amount of loads, set temperature, washing mode use, volume of water, amount of detergent soap, and the temperature of outside environment. The user guide with the machine give little information as to load limits for each of the wash cycles. How can i choose was wash program, average load, average clothes which will not take half a day!
I find that by using the download function which connects to your mobile device (LG ThinQ) you can pretty much create your own cycle. I did similar with a spin cycle. Sometimes I found I just wanted to spin something I had hand washed but there was no preset cycle just for spinning. The download function is great if you can do it.
I have only used the quick cycle which takes 30 mins and Easy Care cycle which took 1 1/2 hours. Quite happy with both. Maybe try the Download function if your comfortable as ChrisW has suggested.
Thanks for both replies - i have the LG ThinQ connected and using the rinse and spin on the Download function. Also the quick cycle and delicates are working well for us.
