1 LauraC  · At first it worked well, but only five months in and my clothes are stained by the washing machine and the clothes come out smelling frowsy.

What a disaster purchase. Right from the first wash it ripped my bedsheets, the next load it proceeded to fray the clothes being washed and if you were game enough to wash them a second time they would come out stretched and paper thin, a lot of the time with multiple rips, holes or even shredded from being stretched to the maximum. For the next… Read more

few months I tried every cycle, using the lowest spin (400) and the lowest temperature - I tried small loads, big loads, medium sized loads but every wash (even the delicate cycle) had the same result. LG garment care factor = NIL. Even though it was still under warranty (6 months old) neither LG customer service or Harvey Norman wanted to know or assist, insinuating user fault. I never received a single call back from LG or Harvey Norman at any time during my dealings with these disgraceful organisations. NEVER again will I have an LG product in my house or step foot in a Harvey Norman store again after being treated so appallingly and spoken down to by the HN department manager when I dare question the delivery/installation procedure as a possibility for damage in transit. I thought it was reasonable to at least look into it because when I requested the installers leave me the travel bolts they said this machine doesn't come with any. The HN dept mgr rejected any such possibility with the reason being that travel bolts can only be used once, they are not reuseable and if I should ever need to move the machine I should just fill up the drum with clothes. Well, that excuse was an insult to my intelligence and should be a huge red flag to the Harvey Norman franchise, and it was the final straw for me. My last contact he promised to phone me back in 20 minutes with an update - that was 5 days ago...... some things just don't change.

I loved LG washers but this model has been appalling. Cannot complete a load 75% of the time. Had to buy a new machine after only 8 months. First time I ever gave up on a major appliance in its first year. LG service no good - turns out it is a design fault and endemic to this model. The new machine will NOT be LG. Show details

The LG WV5-14110W has been the biggest let down of a washing machine, once the washing is clean,as you retrieve the washing from loading area ,your washing drags over the door seal which collects dirt from every load.We constantly clean the seal but it continues to leave filthy marks on the clean washing. Don’t waste your money on this washing machine.

A good product for your laundry – I recently purchased the LG washing machine and I must, it does the job well and I like it for some reasons. First of all, its design is absolutely beautiful and compact, making it a great addition to any laundry room. One of the standout features of this machine is the wide variety of programs it offers. With so many options to choose from, I… Read more

can easily find the perfect cycle for any type of fabric or level of dirtiness. And the best part is that it always cleans my clothes thoroughly without any issues.

Another great feature is the ability to connect the washing machine to my phone. The user-friendly application allows me to control and monitor the machine remotely, making laundry even more convenient. I particularly love the downloaded cycle feature, which allows me to add any extra program I want to my washing machine. It's like having a custom-made cycle for my specific needs.

The steam programs on this machine are truly impressive. They deliver outstanding results, leaving my clothes fresh and wrinkle-free. However, one minor drawback is that the timing for these programs can be a bit unclear. It takes a while for the machine to calculate and display the exact duration, which may require some patience.

The only major downside I have encountered with this washing machine is the vibration during the final stages of washing. For about 2-3 minutes, it vibrates quite intensely, which can be quite noticeable, especially if you live in an apartment. Despite following the installation instructions and removing the large screws, the vibration issue remains. Additionally, it's important to note that during the last 6-8 minutes of the washing cycle, it's advisable to avoid using large amounts of water elsewhere in the house, as the machine requires sufficient water to pass through these stages. Otherwise, it gets stuck in those minutes :/.

Overall, the LG washing machine is a fantastic investment. Its beautiful design, wide range of programs, and user-friendly features make laundry a breeze. Despite a few minor drawbacks, its excellent cleaning performance and convenient functionalities make it a great addition to any home.

Awesome washing and – Only had for 6 months but has been fantastic so far. Even has a nice music tune to let you know its finished. Easy to use electronic settings, then the washer works out the load weight etc for the best wash..... pick the settings, press start and it will do the rest (and let you know when it's finished) Digital display of time on different settings. Show details

So happy I switched to front loader! – Switched from a top loader to front loader. So glad. My clothes no longer wrap around the middle pole. The LG 10kg is huge. Tested the capacity by putting 2 sets of fitted sheets and flat sheets. It can fit very thick blankets. It’s gentler on the clothes. Means less wrinkles. I put any types of clothes in the washer. I am a top load machine person all the way, but I moved into a house that required a front load machine (devastating). This was the first ever washing machine I've purchased brand new (from the Good Guys) and I'm very pleased with the purchase. I've now had this washing machine for around 3 years, completed 300+ washes and my only real complaints… Read more

are as follows:

* Sometimes the timer is a liar, but I've experienced this with all washing machines that had this function regardless of brand (Electrolux, Samsung).

* I don't believe it's 8kg because I can't fit my winter doona in it and I could in my old top loader machine - I can fit the summer doona in it though.

* If you use the app to download additional cycle options, you can only download one cycle at a time. Which means you're like me, sometimes youre frequently re-downloading cycles (I.E. Sleeves and collars/Hygiene).

* If you do download a cycle option, you MUST use the app and can't manually select "downloaded cycle" on the machine itself.

And that's all my complaints. It has been a trusty machine and I definitely recommend it. It even has a quiet wash option which is so appreciative.

Good machine but takes too long – Pros: Looks sleek, easy to use with plenty of settings. Works well. App works well for download settings & alerting me when cycle finishes. Cons: Time & load size. Only cotton & cotton eco take full 8kg loads. Most are 4kg. Instruction book gives no guide on time taken for cycle as it changes with weight so it’s trial & error. I liked the… Read more

idea of steam for hygiene & allergy care but never use it because it takes 3 hours & only 4kg. I generally use cotton eco or mixed fabric which take around 90 to 120 minutes depending on load weight & washes well.

Fairly quiet machine except the water fill which keeps stopping & starting, so the Quiet wash is far too noisy to run at night.

I do not recommend LG washing machines. I have had mine for a couple of years had engineers out three times to look at it because it constantly gets stuck on the spin cycle. Purchased this front loader 3 years ago & also paid extra Warranty. It started to leak after 18 months so rubber seal had to be replaced. Then the door catch mechanism went faulty so had to get that replaced. It was also extremely loud on spin cycle even though it was on a steady tiled floor. Water is now leaking from under the machine so it now needs a pump replacement. I would highly NOT recommend not buying this front loader. Show details

Overall the machine is a disappointment with its functions . that you cant use the cold water preference . I thought I could save on the hot water bill but it seems the hot water tap has to be turned on otherwise the IE message pops up (insufficent water supply) It also rinses with warm water. Why there is a "cold" wash on the temp panel… Read more

beats me . If you are looking for a machine that washes cold forget this Model! A plus with this model is the depth of the model which is less than other machines with the same wash capacity and a Quick cycle of 30-33mins depending on the size of load The spin cycle is not on the dial. On the special program and when used has a rinse cycle with it so can’t be used on its own. As water charges have increased this presents as another negative

Ah, the LG front loader. Sleek, modern, and oh-so-shiny—like a luxury car parked permanently in your laundry room. For the first two years, I proudly showed it off to guests like it was a new pet. "Look at it! Isn't it beautiful? It even plays a little song when it's done!" But then... the honeymoon ended. Year two hit like a poorly balanced spin… Read more

cycle. First came the hose replacements—multiple. Like an annual tradition, except with more water damage and less joy. Today, I replaced another hose. That’s right, the same one that was replaced last year. The repairman—who I now consider a close family friend—cheerfully informed me that he keeps three of these hoses in his van at all times. Why? Because apparently, LG engineered a machine where the hose consistently rubs against the drum like it’s trying to start a fire. Only instead of fire, we get holes. And leaks. And despair. But wait, there’s more! After two years, the door seal developed a new party trick: hiding rust better than Houdini hides assistants. Behind that innocent-looking rubber ring? A corrosion horror film playing out in secret every time I washed towels. Mechanically, this machine is about as dependable as a weather forecast from a fortune cookie. But it does look good. So if your goal is to have the most fashionable broken appliance on the block, LG has you covered. Final verdict: It’s the most attractive disappointment I’ve ever owned. 2/5 stars—one for the design, one for the bonding time with my repair guy.

Review for LG Washing Machine WV5-1409W – Worst Purchase Ever! I regret buying the LG WV5-1409W washing machine. Within a year, it has turned out to be the worst appliance I’ve ever owned. The biggest issue? It overheats dangerously, to the point where the control panel on the top right melted (See photo) due to excessive heat! The exterior gets… Read more

hot, and the internal temperature rises uncontrollably, making it a major safety hazard.

On top of that, the machine has severe imbalance issues during spinning, causing excessive vibrations and noise. For the price I paid, I expected a reliable product, but even a cheaper Aldi brand performs better in comparison.

To make matters worse, LG’s customer service is an absolute nightmare—rude, unprofessional, and completely useless. They bounce you around for hours with no solution, making the entire experience beyond frustrating.

Avoid this washing machine at all costs. It's not worth the money, is unsafe, and is backed by the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I urgently need a refund, but at the very least, LG should provide a solution or replacement. The excessive heat and melting pose serious hazards and safety concerns. If it were to explode, the consequences could be catastrophic.

The New Vibrator from LG – We bought our LG WV5-1409W front loader on 1-5-2024 and all it does is shake, we bought anti-vibration feet for it and it did not help at all, we ended up making brackets to hold it in place so it does not walk, we found out today 7/9/2024 that there are only 2 cycles on the machine that can do 9 kg of washing and the quick wash can only do 2… Read more

Waste of money and time – This is easily the sh@#est machine we have ever had. We previously had another lg which i reviewed, got my refund and was talked into yet another stupid LG smart washer.... its so frustrating. hoing back and fourth it hardly uses sufficent water and when you force more water into it so it washes corectly its stupid ai drains the water. I opened the top of this one and wound the water sensor right up so it uses as much as possible per load, but even then its only just enough, oh and the 10kg thing, well that must be the weight of the bowl because it cannot take anywhere near as much as our old 7kg samsung that you could turn on, select options and hit start and it would wash. Sure this has useless wifi and other riddiculous gimmick features, but they are literally slapping eyeliner and makeup on a turd, Very disapointed. I think next time il try and get a basic machine like an old commerical speed queen that you can be in control of.

past 400/800 rpm. Trying to dry a sopping wet doona in my climate is rarely possible so it really was a waste of money.

The worst thing of all; no matter how many times I level the machine (every 2 months since purchasing in December 2022), it still walks. It is completely incapable of handling almost any spin cycle above 1000rpm and I have absolutely had enough. Leveling it is a nightmare too with all 4 legs needing individual adjusting.

I have a concrete tiled floor with no movement, the downside being it was probably tiled with too much drainage towards the floor drain, but after perfectly leveling machine and trying rubber mats and anti-vibration pads... It just shouldn't be walking every wash. The machine is just garbage.

I will be seeking warranty help as a last resort before getting rid of it and swapping to a different brand. Buyer beware.

The worst washing machine and customer service ever – I regret buying this machine so much. Like everyone else, I’d had previously good experiences with LG products, so when my old washing machine died, I didn’t hesitate to purchase LG. It’s been nothing but trouble. this, and also, I do question the ‘too full’ for an 8kg machine, I can’t do towels in it) and it will just keep running til you come and rescue it, wasting energy and water. LG have been useless in terms of support. Passing the buck, wanting to charge you to come and and take a look. I basically have to babysit this machine to get a complete cycle, taking out sopping wet items or adding items until it’s satisfied with the weight in the machine to complete cycle. And most of the time, I just give up and have to dry items from sopping wet. Cannot state this enough, do not do this to yourself. Do not buy this machine.

One of the most frustrating machines, I do not recommend this LG washer – So initial impressions were good, and there are positives: -30 minute wash cycle and mixed fabric cycle that works well -Wi-Fi that is reliable for notifications to your devices -Downloadable cycles Now the not so good: -The cycle gets stuck on rinse/spin when the load is too light or too heavy (notifications do not advise specifically that this… Read more

is the error) -The cycle gets stuck on rinse/spin when a puffer jackets or light and fluffy items are in the wash -The duvet cycle gets stuck on rinse/spin, always The AI logic is questionable, especially when the load gets stuck on rinse/spin, the machine will continue for 40+ minutes, then send a notification advising there is an issue, but not clear about what the issue is just advising the is an error.

When washing one pair of pants or a couple of t-shirts, the load gets stuck on rinse/spin and no matter what one does the machine cannot be prompted to continue to finish. I did not have these problems when washing the exact same way with my last machine from another manufacturer. The machine does not show any errors from its self-diagnostic program, ever. LG support have not been helpful, especially now the machine is out of warranty, a software issue is commonly blamed. The download to device cycles are not easy to find in the app, and don’t always download to the machine prompting hard restarts/app restarts. I do not think this is specific to this model from what I have seen online, given LG washing machines all run software the same or similar, apparently. It is unlikely I will purchase an LG machine again.
