We have had this washing machine for 2 years, started having issues with mold on the seal and brown paste appearing on clothes after wash, i complained to LG and the response i received that it was not a warranty fault but user error, even though we regularly ran the drum cycle (more than recommended), the photos are of the seal that i replaced,… Read more
the brown paste (scrud, LG called it) , is impossible to clean, as it is behind the seal, which you don't have access to, so cannot clean. Even replacing the seal wash a mission (i am quite handy), you have to nearly dismantle the whole machine, i have never had this issue with any other washing machine design, and would definitely not recommend to buy an LG machine, and the support was not helpful and basically said it was not covered under warranty even though we used it as recommended.
We bought an LG12kg ThinQ front loader and it is the worst piece of crap money could buy. Not according to the HN consultant. No trust in them at all. Your clothes come out half washed - meaning that some of the items are only partially wet no matter how much you restrict the load and it gets stuck in the cycle......taking 45 minutes to complete a 19min cycle.
Bought the LG Washer and dryer at the same time. The dryer is amazing but the washer was just a waste of money. It continually throws up errors, will not spin on the last drain cycle and it shakes so much it makes our windows rattle all through the house. There is only two of us so it isn't overloaded and we don't wash blankets or heavy loads… Read more
because we already know it can't even handle jocks and socks.. I end up having to manually drain the water out after most uses before I can put it in the dryer. Will never buy an LG Washer again. Absolute lemon.

LG never rang, texted or emailed to provide any support after purchase when their product failed to deliver its purpose – LG never rang, texted or emailed to provide any support after purchase when their product failed to deliver its purpose. Plumber installed washing machine. Saw a leak at the front. Notified plumber paid for another call out. He came out as advised that there is a leak and to contact LG for warranty. come out advised me to send photos and said they won't cover it as they don't cover the seal under warranty. I have had to get Harvey Norman involved who contacted an LG rep and got them to come out. Again, they said they won't cover. Harvey Norman are going to cover the service call and LG parts. Thank you Harvey Norman. LG you should be ashamed of your After-sales service.
Your customer satisfaction, brand loyalty, and word-of-mouth-marketing is completely non existent. I have lost all faith in your products and after care.
Very Disappointed – After having endless trouble with a large top loader I went back to front loaders and purchased this one. I made a mistake in choosing this particular machine, unfortunately, as we have had endless trouble with it. The first repairer who came to fix it (thankfully under warranty) commented that he had seen other machines with the same problem.… Read more
During manufacturing, the machining of parts sometimes is not as finely tuned as it should be, which results in the drum not always rotating evenly. This appears to be what happened with ours as it has often jumped and banged around inside with even a small load. It gets so bad at times that it has to sit for a moment, to rebalance itself I suppose, before continuing in the cycle. As a result of this, the time of the load can increase greatly to the extent that with a heavy load (and remember this machine is rated to be able to handle 12 kg of washing) the time can increase by over an hour on the cotton cycle. This is extremely annoying as my days are very busy and I cannot afford to be waiting on a load of washing that should have finished an hour or more ago. I wash a variety of items including our king-sized quilt, greasy work clothes, delicates, towels, and ordinary washing items. The problem occurs randomly in any of the cycles. I have tried liquid and powder detergent. I have drastically reduced the amount of detergent to prevent sudsing to the point that my washing does not smell clean. Nothing helps and when I finally got so frustrated that I sent 2 short videos of the machine misbehaving to our repair company, they replied that as they had come twice and already replaced many parts, they felt I should try getting it replaced under warranty. This I intend to do when businesses open again after the Christmas break. I understand that my particular machine may be an isolated problem, however, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone else buy one like this.
Rubbish - Do not buy LG PRODUCTS AGAIN - Started Leaking after 5 months and LG is blaming it on me – Front door is leaking, there is no damage to the seal. Wasted 2 hours on the support in Philippines and they are putting the blame on me that the door seal is not in the right shape due to mis-use and there must be clothes stuck with door closed. Asked to organise service technician at own expense. Please refrain from buying LG again Show details

Rusted Machine & Water Leaks in 2.5 years – The machine started leaking after 2.5 years. Upon inspection underneath the washer the body of the machine had significant rust. The repair company attended my home to find a common fault being a hole in the rubber hose at the top of the washer. It had obviously been leaking for quite some time until the body eventually rusted and started leaking… Read more
water onto the floor. The machine was out of warranty, however LG were reluctant to provide a refund as "the machine is working"! I demanded a replacement of which they offered a store credit for the full value of the machine which was purchased 2.5 years ago. This doesn't cover the cost of the same machine. I cant believe that LG continue to sell this washer with a known common fault!! Stay clear of this machine it will disappoint and Life will not be Good!!
Desperate purchase unfortunately – When my previous machine that I loved, failed and had to be replaced, I had to look for a different brand (see my review of the Ariston 10Kg). I was in a hurry and working within a budget, so went for the LG. It's ok. I believe the Ariston did a far better job of washing and this LG tangles badly which means lots of heavy creasing which is… Read more
annoying. I am ok with the cycles although I wont use a lot of them. The one thing that does annoy me is how long it takes to decide how long the wash time is going to be (I am fussy and believe that nothing needs to wash longer than 1hr 45 minutes). I stand in the laundry, and wait and wait for it to make a decision. Then when it finally does, if it's longer than I like, I will adjust the options or change the cycle and annoyingly, it starts thinking about it all over again. Wish it could work it out quicker like the Ariston did. I am concerned about another users review about the pathetic wool wash cycle as I wear a lot of wool in winter. I will be back with an update on that once winter had set in.
Our LG washing machine was a lemon – Whatever you do dont buy one of these -they break down shortly after the warranty period and cost $$$$ to fix - the aftersales sevice is abysmal -in our case it broke down at a busy period when we had 9 guests staying for Christmas. We logged a job on 23rd and got told a repair person was coming so stayed at home 8-5pm but they didnt show - then… Read more
they said waiting on a part -how could they tell this without a repair person seeing the machine? Apparently the error code def2 happens a lot! Not a good sign. Still no fix and it wont be until middle of Jan. Im reporting them to Fair trading because its just not right.
Terrible washing machine! Terrible service by LG! – We have only used this 10 times and put a wash on when suddenly I heard water gushing out. A piece of my clothes had become tangled in the seal and stretched the seal, causing water to rush out. I put a warranty claim in and was rejected because it wasn’t a manufacturing fault. How is it not when it’s not doing the job it’s made to do? This is a… Read more
common problem and I would steer clear of Lg washing machines at all costs! LG customer service are incredibly rude.
Horrible with warranties – We bought our washing machine in March and had noticed it leak intermitently but couldn't find an issue with it using the online help form LG. Then at around 6-7 months of owning it we smelt a burning electrical smell and submitted a repair/warranty request online. We had not heard back from LG and had to continue to contact them myself as… Read more
they required other documentation but then would never follow it up with myself and just leave it.
A week after first reported, I was able to get them to organize a repair person to attend. The repair person attended a week later and couldn't find the issue but fixed another problem and told us it was good to use.
We went to use it a week later and during a wash smelt the burning smell again and the machine stopped working with a DE1 issue.
We contacted LG again and the repair person who came out again 2 weeks later to look at the machine. This time they found a burn mark from the motherbaord to the wires but was unable to find a leak that would have caused this issue.
The repair person went away and organized for the machine to be collected 2 weeks later to be tested to see where the water leak is coming from.
We then complained to LG about this as we have now been without a Washing Machine for more than 7 weeks and there is still no timeframe on when we will have it back or whether the issue will occur again. The person said that they would put it through to resolutions and would contact me within 3 business days. I received no call and contacted them on the 4th business day to find out that apparently nothing had been put through to resolutions.
LG have continually put it back onto the repair people and have take no ownership of chasing up or following up with ourselves. We have young children and are constantly having to take our washing to a laundromat, for issues with a Machine that isn't even a year old.
Would not recommend LG to anyone due to the problems with dealing with warranty issues.
Water leakage issue 3 times still on going – We bought it a year ago, the water leakage issue comes up randomly (left underneath). This was the third times they visit us. The LG technician could not find the issue as usual.. because it is intermittent issue. Just ran the machine empty cycle for 5 min and reported that "everything is in normal" so I showed him the water stain on the timber… Read more
floor and he said nothing can find. The solution from him was to use less detergent and don't use 39 min cycle. However, we always use less detergent and we tried all different types of it but still the same.
Lifes Not Good in This case most leaking washing machine I’ve ever used- updated review – ***update** i wrote the original review too early. Since installing the washing machine has leaked continually. I spent a good month trying to figure out what was occurring. I went to the lg website for help to ensure I was doing everything right, checking videos and the different points of the machine that might be leaking. Then I finally… Read more
realised it wasnt anything usual. First service call put in to Lg and the technician found a pipe disconnected reconnected it and I thought that was job done. Then even more water spilled everywhere. And the door was also forced open to cause more leaking from the door. I have been following the instructions of this washing machine to a tea and I also consider myself quite tech savvy as well as looking after my products really well so they will last. Second call put into LG warranty and the technician comes back to find a huge crack in the bowl and its not on the inside its at the top of the bowl which is why it was so hard to find in test mode. Its a production fault. Im told there is no time frame on when the bowl can be ordered and when it does finally arrive they will need to take the washing machine away to be fixed as its a big fix that cannot be done on site. The question also becomes while i wait for the repair what further damage is happening inside that will create problems now or even later when its our of warranty. Rusting components because of water leaking everywhere? What if the water touches an electrical part? Do i risk standing in electricity water every time it leaks and i step in the water all over my laundry floor. I feel like im going back to the 1940s where ill go down to the river and use rocks to wash my clothes and then spin them on my head. This is an essential household item! You would think that LG would treat this as a matter of urgency due to the nature of the production fault but instead I am just another number that has to repeat myself every-time I call them because they either cant read the notes or are not leaving sufficient notes on the system about the errors occurring with the washing machine. So I put another call to the lg warranty team to ask for a replacement as i don’t think i should have to wait without a washing machine. They escalated to higher service points 3 times during the call. I waited for over an hour. At one point they told me coins in the wash would have possible caused the crack. This is not possible because the crack is at the top of the bowl not the inside. Great work lg team i make a habit of checking all my clothes before placing them in the washing machine anyway but if a coin can damage a bowl i question the quality of your product further. I explain my complete frustration at this accusation that I have caused this problem and that they have forgotten this has been leaking from first use and from the top of the bowl. This has to be a production issue. Then the second escalation point on the same call they ask me for a photo. Am i expected to take apart the machine for this? The tub is inside and the crack is at the top of the tub. I explain maybe they should do some of the work here and speak to the service team they suggested. Its not up to me to open the washer for a photo !!!!!! Do you think ive made this up? I dont have time to create stories about products i just want to wash my clothes without water leaking everywhere. So back on hold again and 3rd escalation on the call they say they would book another service. Cmon LG this is next level text book customer service annoyance. I ask to speak to a supervisor and they leave me on hold again for 1/2 hour to come back and say I will get a call back from an escalation team. Some suggestions of actual help and good practice customer service LG dont accuse me of breaking the machine! Maybe put an escalation on ordering the part and getting my machine fixed faster? Or just give me a freaking replacement is it that hard? 3 times asking for help and not solved thats replacement worthy for sure! So now i wait again and then i will have to explain it all over again for the 4th time. A new sweet hell of frustration.
Update further when more info available. Im a bit disappointed as i have a house full of lg products and don’t look forward to having to contact them about my other products should the need arise. **update number 2 finally got them to agree to a refund however Im still waiting for it 4 weeks later with no assurance of when it will be coming through. Im a bit tired of the we are busy excuse and nothing more can be done you’ll just have to wait.
A great flat door that not catch the dust, so quiet and stands very sturdy on the laundry floor, the steam clean was so good it got rid of mould on my old cushion covers, its gentle on clothes and cleans evenly. I absolutely love this washer I’ve had samsung and westinghouse before and this is the best so far. Easy to turn on and select the spin or temp that you want and a good choice of different pre set functions.

Know better, choose better.
Most cycles dont wash well – Awful washing machine. Most cycles dont wash well. Wool cycle gets a bare sprinkle of water even with intense wash (no problem with water flow as Cotton cycle does get wet). Lots of wool thermals in Canberra and I cant wash them. Only cycle cleans is Cottons and now that wash cycle makes a high pitch motor noise during wash phase. after 20 mths. LG flogging me off. Show details
Don’t upgrade to this model – Hi I have bought the Wv10-1412b. Thinking it would be an upgrade, but no the very bad thing is no steam function just to get wrinkles out . This was a great function to throw your shirt in for 15 minutes and the wrinkles were gone. The extra rinse cycles have gone as well. I’m really disappointed I didn’t check the features out first ,… Read more
just thought LG would add more features not less. I wouldn’t buy this if I had my time over. It’s two weeks old . Shame on you LG.
Less useful features than older LG machines – Have only recently purchased this machine to replace a faulty 10kg 8yo LG front loader, but whilst it has more advanced gimmicks, it has less useful features than the old machine and seems to take longer washing the same loads on the same general cycles: 1. No steam refresh cycle 2. No direct custom cycle: have to keep selecting 60 degree and… Read more
1200 Spin for Cotton cycle each time 3. No Rinse++ or Rinse & Hold option 4. Unit is confusing when trying to modify Temp or Spin as it locks out changes unless you press "Add Item" button to pause machine (which is lit before adding item and unlit when adding item which is counter-intuitive) 5. Unit doesn't have load balancing balls of the older machine and gets out of balance more, leading to greater vibration 6. Display doesn't show load 7. Display doesn't show number of rinses and rinses remaining
Can't even find workarounds on the internet, a list of the download cycles available, or settings that can be modified with a smart phone.
I wish I could have the old machine functionality back again as I don't use a smart phone and was happy with the old display, features and on-machine programming ability but unable to get the same model now.
It would help if the "Download Cycle" could be programmed from the display without a smart phone to act as a custom cycle and maybe a "steam refresh" cycle added by activating spin only + steam.
Very disappointed in this "updated" model as it feels like a step backwards from the old model.
Wouldn't buy another one – We had a 10kg LG top loader for 13 years and now our son is using it so of course we bought another LG. Only washes 12kg on the cotton setting which takes over 2 hrs, if I wanted to use cold water it is about 3.5 hrs. Ridiculous. 39min turbo does 5kg and 14mins fast takes 2kg. So really pointless selling it as a 12kg washing machine, if you don't… Read more
stick to the weight ratio it struggles to spin and you can tell by the noise it's not happy and you can smell it's really getting hot in the motor. I certainly would not buy this machine again.
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE – My machine has stopped working (does not turn on) it is less then 6months old. I have attempted to get my machine repaired. The spare parts are not available and it will likely be 4 weeks since making my warranty claim that I will not have a machine or any idea of when it will be repaired. I have used all avenues of communication including the… Read more
live chat, online enquiry form and I am currently on my 3rd phone call with the company. The customer service is appalling. I have asked to make a complaint and have my case escalated and every time I am put on hold for extended period of time and refused the information. I do not wish this upon any other users so please steer clear from buying this machine.
Not again! – I bought this washer September 2021. To replace another brand I had that kept dying and being repaired over a 4 year period. Anyways! Hoping to have better luck with an LG… it was doing great; washing well, does get a little hot on top of the machine. So I’m 3 months in and it is now leaking from underneath. Seems to happen on the 39 minute turbo… Read more
wash. I’ve requested a repair.. so so so upset and disappointed after 4 yrs of hell with old frontloader now this with a brand new one.. Edit: 2 months after repair (a replacement hose) it leaks again from the same spot underneath. Booked in for second service.

LG12kg large drum easy to use – Have removed my review as it turns out Harvey Norman installed it incorrectly by putting the cold hose onto the hot tap and vice versa. This has led to the machine leaking from door, control panel and underneath due to intensive build up of pressure, flooding my laundry repeatedly, and now I have to take it up with them legally to supply a new machine as this one is no longer safe to use. Apologies to LG! Show details · 1
Great investment – A new look on washing. This is our first ever front loader. Simply put, the LG WV9 is simple to use. There are the required programs for washing, also the added feature of a 39 min wash. I have found, you are able to use this feature @ 39 min if using cold wash. Once you start to adjust heat level, add non wrinkling etc, time increases. Still, the… Read more · 1
length of wash time isn’t as long as my old top loader. Takes a little getting used to amount of wash load added, to date, I haven’t had an issue with overloading. Has feature of ‘ add an item’ and no fear of water gushing out, as you actually open the door to add an item. Thee LG WV9 is quiet and efficient. Simply put, Love the LG. Have had no issue with clothes being marked, no lint left on clothes during wash cycle, easy peasy. Do find though with front loaders, that upon removing clothing items best to have washing basket directly below to catch any items whilst removing wash load. Has an enjoyable melody at end of cycle.
An extra note, have reviewed separately the LG 2kg Twin Wash mini washer. We were looking into purchasing a stand for the top loader and were informed by store staff, if purchasing a stand, your top loader warranty will be void for not having original base by LG. Therefore, we opted for the mini washer which also gives us an extra 2kg wash and also the additional height wanted so don’t need to bend continuously. This was security for us and cost wise, was a little more than expected but worth it.
