We immediately provided them with videos and photos, a phone call explaining the issue and an email.

They tried to shift the blame onto us and how we are installing it (even though our electrician is really smart and installs lights all day everyday for a living!). Anything to avoid taking responsibility for terrible, cheap and nasty products being sold as 'premium lighting'.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, a product that is unsafe and cannot perform its intended function constitutes a major failure. We are entitled to a full refund from the seller (not a replacement, not a repair) and not an indefinite wait while they liaise with their supplier. Their supplier relationship is the concern of Lighting Collective and not ours.

We don't think they sell quality lighting and are warning people about that. Also, the refunds process for major faulty items works more like a warranty claim than a faulty refund claim.

Overall is took two weeks since we notified them about the faulty lighting and receiving our money back. It was a very stressful experience. Avoid if you want a company to care about the products they sell!

requested in the initial communication. Due to my growing concerns about the approaching delivery deadline, I paid $70 for express delivery. Delivery took over 5 working days for a less than 200km journey between major cities, effectively doubling the purchase cost of $700 due to the need to bring the electricians back on site to install the product that arrived after the date highlighted as a requirement for proceeding with the purchase. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company.

Five Star Service(!) for a small project – I contacted The Lighting Collective via phone (from Sydney) to enquire about a similar light fitting I had for over a decade which had broken and was looking to have them replaced, and found Jade to be particularly helpful in not only trying to source the lights, but keeping the communication lines open throughout the process. was resolved thanks to the ongoing communication for my small lighting project, and after a long time without a fully lit living room, the lights are back on again and I couldn't be happier. Thanks again!

“Fallen” out of stock – Prior to making an online purchase I emailed to ensure they did in fact have the pendant lights in stock. I was advised they did and could be delivered the following week. within 5-7 days. This seemed like a long time considering they were in stock. Over a week after placing the online order I received an email advising they had ‘fallen out of stock’. I then asked for a full refund and expressed my disappointment in the service. I received no response or apology. I then had to follow up again 1 week later when the money still had not been refunded, and found that this had not even been processed. Very poor communication and slow impersonal customer service.

Terrible – I have waited for six months for two outdoor lights (paid for). Now being told it will be the end of October because of supplier lead times. Extremely disappointing, it's not good enough. If the Collective cannot supply what it advertises, it shouldn't advertise at all.

noticeable black asymmetric mounting plate required to connect driver on one side of linear pendant, whilst schematics incorrectly showed symmetric mounting boxes would be supplied.

In addition to this, the driver failed within hours of installation leaving us without light in a critical area of our kitchen, costing us over $280 in after hours electrician labour and replacement parts. Customer service was unsympathetic and provided no compensation (not even a replacement driver) , instead patronizingly referring to the asymmetric mounting plate as "minimalist" and hiding behind their terms and conditions for driver replacement, and then offering us the chance to purchase more from them. Thanks but no thanks.

I won't be recommending Lighting Collective to any of my friends or family and hope they learn how to treat their customers better in the future.

Brilliant Service – We would just like to thank you for the extremely prompt delivery of the outdoor light I had ordered online. It isn't often that such prompt service is received and we believe it should be thanked. Everything to do with the order has been well addressed and we have even accepted the addition of your catalogue as a plus because we are in need of further lighting fixtures/shades.

Most likely the best service I have ever received! – Quality products. Great selection. Very personal and helpful service. The contact person ( Kristen) could not have been more helpful when I required more lights and quickly. Now my one stop site for all my lighting needs.

False Advertising by Lighting Collective Byron Bay – I had the Mercator Rhino 78" ceiling fan advertised on the internet for $417 in white or $424 in black and called to query price by myself and another fan store staff member. offer to sell it to me for $599 when Ithe staff member called me back the second time. Poor customer service and mistakes were made on Lighting Collective Byron Bay. Passing information onto ACCC. You have lost the sale and probably should double check pricing before posting on net as it had been there for many weeks.

Unique design – I bought a chandelier a few months back for my living room and I am still impressed with the design and quality of the product. The customer service people were very friendly too
