Electric Blanket faulty. Causing a short circuit – Where and how could you get contacts from Linda (Mistral)? My electric blanket was burned fuse first time and was replaced. Then it was short circuit recently causing one of my house main switch came off. And the plastic temp adjustable moving knot on top of control panel was broken. This blanket is double size but temp controller is separate for each person.
they replaced a faulty blanket without any delay when I contacted them and found that there had been – As above they replaced a faulty blanket without any delay when I contacted them after finding that there had been a recall that I had not seen. A replacement arrived express delivery a few days after I emailed them Show details

A bit sad , a 90% new convection heater is broken, it was just used for less than half year and then – A bit sad , i bought a new convection heater 2 years ago but just used it for less than half year and during the rest of 1.5 years, i haven't used it as my house has central heater, but recently, i used it again only for one week, but the heater suddenly broke down, like this brand as i thought that it should be good this time as well because my… Read more
last heater was same as this second one and it had been used for 3 years. but this time, the heater looks like still brand new, clean, and used to in a good condition, now so sad, what happened for the heater, is it because of this brand or most of the convection heater would only have 2 to 3 year lifetime ?
Hmmmmm.....not overly impressed – My husband really feels the cold...his menopausal wife doesn't, so we opted for a single blanket to put on his side of the bed. Although it has a temp controller with 3 setting, I think it's just a fancy on and off switch. He leaves it on 1, but the blanket just continuously heats...no different on 3. I think this might be going to the doghouse on an external timer. On the hunt for something more controllable :-) Show details
Very disappointing! Only lasted one winter! Very unhappy – I bought a Linda queen size electric blanket last winter, it lasted almost that winter. But towards the end of that winter One side stopped heating! This winter, I turned on and the side which worked stopped working and only the lowest setting lights up on the heat setting controller! Barely warming up! I am very disappointed. I trusted Linda brand and paid the price thinking it last for years. I need to buy a new one now. Very unhappy!
recalled and replacement failed after about a few months use – the replacement electric blanket failed, search very hard on internet to find a contact number , apparently supplied by Mistral ( according to warranty ) but this is useless as on website there is no contact details at all. Will have to go and waste money to buy another one. NOT AT ALL HAPPY . avoid any mistral, linda , and all the "house type" brands at KMART, BIGW, Aldi, Harris scarf etc as they are all made by this dodgy company
Avoid at all costs – Yes we have/ had a Linda, changed the control once under warranty and now another faulty control. Not that old maybe 4 years.
Linda electrial blanket – after just a couple of years work only 4 years, during the winter 3 months (Coffs Harbour district)one of the switches has short circuited and melted the contacts inside had we not noticed it, it would have caused a possible scorching or fire. Would not recommend this blanket unless this fault was rectified energy efficient
returned blanket but still no good – we Returned our blanket and received a replacement but not up to standards the we originally paid for, ever sibce we had this new one it hasn't worked properly so contacted the return company and they sent out another when we tried to fit it to our bed they had sent the wrong size and a different blanket again so now I am buying a different one alltogether never buy a linda again, never never.
Excellent – Very good for 4 1/2 years I have used it. Now one of the 10 heat Detachable Digital Controllers is not working. Where can I get a new Controller from. Has worked well, no problems since purchasing in May 2006 No problems till now
Terrible – Would definitely not buy this particular blanket again, as it is potentially dangerous, and of course unreliable and costly to maintain The blanlet, itself if ok, comfortable, easy to attach to bed -Bought queen size blanket in August 2005 for $174. Controller, DEBC-221, has failed TWICE. It almost set fire to the bed in April last year. … Read more
Bought a new controller then for $48, which failed last night.
-Controller cannot be put on a timer to switch on at predermined time nightly
-somewhat awkward to program
Terrible – You can never tell when a product will fail - but usually it shouldn't do so quickly like this. It is one thing for an appliance to fail, it is quite another when that same appliance almost kills a person through normal usage. Then there's the fact that many retailers exhibit a 'we don't give a rat's - you bought it - too bad if it breaks - not… Read more
our problem' attitude towards consumers who buy a product such as this is a disgrace; it doesn't do the manufacturers any justice, and it makes you look foolish when you raise a legitimate complaint about its failure. Ensure any electrical appliance you buy passes our electrical safety standard (most do; this elec. blanket clearly doesn't and should have been recalled). Quality control is not enough on its own. Safety is important. You want it to work the way it was intended. That is not too much to expect from any normal person, but not with this one. Thumbs down! Not a lot. I wouldn't want an electrical appliance that is likely to fry me or electrocute me as soon as it gets close to the end of the warranty. Back in the 'good old days' when Linda was a quality product, there was no shortage of customer satisfaction, and most of the warranties on each were honoured where appropriate. But sadly, since Mistral stepped in, the quality of these products is almost nil. Unreliable as well as being potentially dangerous. Cheap, nasty [censored word removed] despite retail price(s). Untrustworthy.

Recalled item – I bought one at Big W (code EBC101-3)a couple of years back. The external insulation at one of the blanket plugs later broke and wires were exposed. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission named it as a recall item with possibility of "electic shock, electrocution or fire". I contacted the named recall company (GSM International) but… Read more
their Email is no longer in use so they may have either gone bust or underground. Linda being a "legendary national brand"? I can't trace them on the Internet and the blanket was made in China, so let's not too patriotic! I have chucked my potentially lethal, zero social conscience blanket and I strongly recommend it as a non-purchase, unless you need to light the barbie. It worked before becoming potentially lethal The opposite of Harry Potter's fire cloak
Poor quality – Bought a Linda queen size electric blanket (model LEBDDQTD) because I thought "Linda" was a trusted brand. One side failed after 12 months (approx 50 uses), tried alternating the switches but made no difference. Unable to locate receipt of purchase, don't like my chances of taking it back to Harris Scarf. Also cannot find contact details for Linda… Read more
on the internet. Next best thing is to tell people that I wasted my money buying this product and advise you to steer clear of similar products that are clearly poor quality. Not happy Linda.
Faulty
Same thing happened to us. Same model and we thought Linda was a trusted brand. Never ever buy this brand ever again.
Almost started a fire – Bought a 'Linda' (SPSLMB-DQ-F - NOT one of the ones covered by the recall) a few years ago in Canberra. A couple of weeks back one side shorted out, left a scorch mark through several layers of bedding, and caused a voltage surge that cooked the controller on the other half and reset several appliances in the house. Looking for the company… Read more

Excellent – Very good had it for 5 years and then one electronic control burnt out. The temperature control range was excellent and the automatic switch to low heat after a user preset time was great. Where can I get a new controller from? Good fit. Liked the wool like under blanket. worked very well with good range of temperature control. Had a tendency to slip under the sheet and needed to be readjusted regularly.
Terrible – I have had this blanket for 2 years and maybe a couple of months, Thanks to my dog waking me before it caught fire and caused a lot of damage only the cables and my wool underlay were damaged. I took the blanket back to place of purchase and they totally treated me like a fool, said the blanket was at least 10 years old ..I only brought the bed it… Read more
was on 2 1/2 years ago so no I did not buy the blanket 8 yrs before I knew I was getting a larger bed, then said it was caused by user mistreatment...yep I set fire to it to save on electricity. I called Mistral and they said they would only deal with a certain blanket and from Harris Scarfe brought between the times he stated.
I would never buy a product from Mistral again, even if they gave it to me free.
The cable is digital with Linda by Mistral on it and the cat # on the cable is DEBC-221.
Good luck to anyone with one of these blankets and even better luck with how they treat you if it has caught fire heat settings and timer catching fire
Terrible – There I was lying in bed when there was a loud 'crack' just next to my ear, followed by a flash of light next to my head, and then two further 'cracks' and flashes of light beside the bed. It looks like the connector at the bed-end of the controller shorted, which took out the controller. When I went to the local Harris Scarfe to get another one,… Read more
there was a notice on display about a product recall for a different model of Linda Mistral electric blanket, which apparently may also catch fire and/or electrocute you.
I won't be buying a Linda Mistral electric blanket again.

Terrible – electric blanket heat control switch burnt out. Burnt a hole just smaller than a five cent piece throug the electric blanket, then a matress protector and then an overlay. We were lucky to discover before any serious damage. relatively inexpensive limited heat control options / dangerous
Bad – i had problems with the power cable. Does anyone have contact details in Aust. for Linda electric blankets or mistral? Was pretty good for a few years. i had problems with the power cable. Does anyone have contact details in Aust. for Linda electric blankets or mistral?
Bad – for years and years Linda made dependable products. when mistral bought them out they ignored the quality and started importing rubbish that didn’t fit the name! i still have a original Linda electric blanket that is over 30 years old on a spear bed that works better than my $300 sunbeam one. my sister bought a Linda electric blanket she thought… Read more
it would be of the same quality my old one was.
when she used it she was shocked to find that it either hardly heated up on setting 1 and 2 and on setting 3 it was dangerously hot so she took it back and exchanged it for a sunbeam.
i would recommend a sunbeam over anything as even thought they the old Linda was better! cheep since mistral took over quality dimminished
