Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa

Wonderful indulgence – Beautiful and creamy. Strong tasting so if you don't like rich dark chocolate then this may not be for you. Show details
Bad value for money – The other chocolate brands are better value for money. For example the Lindt is only 80 to 100g for $4, but the Cadbury is 160g to 180g for only $2.75c on special. The other brands are better value for money. Show details
Best dark chocolate – I just tried the new Mango & Almond dark chocolate. I usually eat the sea salt one. This new flavour is so delicious. It would be even nicer if it had sea salt added. Just love Lindt dark chocolate. I only buy it when on special as full price is to pricey for me. Show details
Top chocolate – If it is stronger than 85 per cent it is getting too strong and the range of 70 to 85 is a about right. I think this chocolate is nicely smooth and tasty. Half price at Coles and I'm happy. Show details
It's not perfect, but I can't live without it – For non dark chocolate lovers, stay away. It's bitter, and you're better off with the 70%. For the initiated, this is an excellent, widely available day to day go-to chocolate. It has all of those wonderdul, earthly flavors, and a delicious, creamy consistency. If you can find it on sale, or buy it in a Lindt shop with the "4 for 3" or "7… Read more
for 5" promotions, it's well worth the money. It's well worth the money at normal price, but as a poor college with an insatable cacao tooth I have to make do.
too sweet! – I love lindt excellence dark chocolate. This time I decided to try arabica intense and was disappointed: it was too sweet!
Great for cooking – I find the 85% cocoa a little strong as an eating chocolate. I prefer the 70% personally. But this is terrific for my chocolate brownies!
I adore this chocolate but not the price! – I adore this chocolate, I love the taste and the low sugar content, however it can be overpriced and I simply don't think its worth $4.50+ for 100 grams of chocolate. Its on special sometimes (2 for $5) and I think that is much more reasonable. I do however recommend this chocolate to dark chocolate lovers. great taste, and low sugar overpriced most of the time
Overrated – Lindt has a reputation that is probably based on some past path-breaking product development. These days, the competition has more than caught up with them. The 85% cocoa Lindt chocolate is a case in point. Its texture is very coarse, and the flavour dull. The same strength offering from Aldi's Moser-Roth runs rings around the Lindt stuff in taste and price.
Excellent – Fabulously intense. Hits the spot for the strongest chocolate craving- one piece satisfies really well. The bitter flavour can take a little to get used to, but becomes the attraction. Would be great if they made the 85% in bar/ mini block size as a craving buster. After this, you'll never go back to normal dark chocolate Taste- the darkest… Read more · 1
chocolate I've come across has a lot more complexity than general sweet dark chocolate
Smooth and delicate, as Lindt always is
Great for lactose intolerant individuals Not enjoyed by people without an appreciation of really dark chocolate because it isn't sweet
Darkest chocolate I've had – Even though I don't have a big sweet tooth and usually go for dark chocolate (rather than milk or white chocolate), I find this 85% variety a bit too strong. It has a very strong, bitter taste that hardcore dark chocolate lovers will love. It has a smooth texture, but it leaves a chalky aftertaste in my mouth that is a bit hard to wash off. I… Read more
bought a 100g block and it took me a couple of months to finish half the block. I ended up using the rest of the chocolate in cake batter. The cake turned out absolutely devine. I suppose this 85% variety may be too strong for some people, but cooking with it is great for anyone. very strong can be expensive if not on special at supermarkets
Very good dark chocolate! – Lindt produces the best chocolate that is readily available at all supermarkets and Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa is no exception. Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa has a rich, hearty, bitter taste which 'real' dark chocolate lovers will love, however I would not recommend it to someone who doesn't appreciate such flavours. If you want to get into… Read more
dark chocolate I would recommend Lindt 70% Cocoa as it has a sweeter, less offensive flavour for most.
It is occasionally on sale for $2-3 at major supermarkets (particularly pre-Easter and pre-Christmas), so keep an eye out and pounce on it then if you are interested.
OK – I am glad I bought this one. It was made well and I bought it on sale, otherwise it is expensive (I think the brand is a bit expensive and presents itself to be a finer chocolate company anyway). I suggest it is for someone who likes strong dark bittery flavoured chocolate. This is a very dark and bitter chocolate and I bought it because I wanted… Read more
to try it and taste it. I could not eat more than 1 square, and gave the rest to a friend. It's really bitter, and I can remember, it was so bitter that it tasted like I was eating concentrated powder. Saying so, I am glad I tried it (and it couldn't have been too unhealthy since it is 85% cocoa) This is a very bitter chocolate, and would only suit those who like strong chocolates.

OK – A supremely bitter and intense tasting chocolate from Lindt. Definitely worth the purchase for dark chocolate lovers, though fans of milk or white chocolate may need to be careful trying this, as it actually is very, very intense. I'd recommend it, though. Very, very strong taste. You probably won't have tried anything like it in the market… Read more
before. Decent price and decent package size. Good quality chocolate from Lindt. Can be overly bitter at times, though I suppose this comes with the territory. Definitely not for those who can't handle dark chocolate and/or only exclusively eat milk or white chocolate.
Excellent – An excellent quality, very strong flavoured dark chocolate with Lindt's characteristic silky smooth feel. It does, like a good wine have subtle after flavours and is useful to add in cooking. An exquisitely bitter yet rich tasting dark chocolate. If you are a cocoa fiend this is a very satisfying choclate. You don't need to eat much to enjoy it.… Read more
It is also good to add grated to chocolate cakes or chocolate mousse for a more adult taste. Sometimes it is on sale in Coles and Woolworths for around $2 and then it is very good value. Bitter- not for milk chocolate lovers.
