Quietly Surprised – I called Liverpool Exhaust and left a message for Shev (my neighbour recommended him). A day later I received a call. He was returning from school holidays and I guess he had a lot of messages to chase up. I told him I had a SS Commodore VF2 (with the bimodal exhaust) and low kilometres. Most videos I see on YouTube have open exhaust cutouts and I didn't see many specifically on the upgrade of the VF2 with it's bimodal switch. After surfing the internet I already decided on a 3 inch stainless steel exhaust.
Shev gave me four options 1. Full Exhaust with headers (best for performance and sound); 2/3. Cat back options (one was a tiny bit cheaper) or 4. Mufflers only (axle back). I explained that I'm on a tight budget so went for option 2. Shev explained that they also adjust the ECU so errors won't appear such as the engine light on the dashboard. After many years, I finally have zero demerit points (so the car is plenty fast as it is). He added that the system is modular and I can get the headers and cats later (I didn't ask how much more that would have cost overall).
I didn't get any other quotes as I'd prefer to go with someone recommended. I have been ripped off by others that I'd prefer not to talk about. So I couldn't rate them lower as I'm not sure how cheap or expensive they are?
I thought I would have to book in for a few weeks time, but Shev said "bring it in tomorrow and we'll do it for you". He did explain that it was mainly bolted into place (no custom pipe bending?) and next thing I knew, I was driving in to get the work done. There are many hoists and I could see it was a decent sized work space.
Previously the stock exhaust sounded good idling, but the only time I heard the exhaust (with the bimodal set to loud) was when I put the 'pedal to the metal' (you get that roar inside the cabin). Shev moves the stock bimodal motors to the new mufflers, so when closed, it sounds like the old exhaust on loud. Now with the muffler open, it rumbles at the lights and sounds great moving off and changing gears. Put your foot down, and I think everyone will be taking down your number plate.
The service was excellent and efficient from Liverpool Exhaust and Shev. I love the transformed car and will now use it more. p.s. I should have got 'before and after' videos but I'm too lazy. You would probably know what a stock exhaust sounds like? :) also, after watching my rough video, I washed the car, so there are water droplets on the tailpipes in the photos.
Very Satisfied Customer – Excellent service from the onset and seen the job through . Being a subbie in a heavy vehicle on Sydney roads , downtime coupled with price and quality are paramount . I booked in for an initial measure up and estimate and was than told they’d be in touch within a week . My new muffler and chrome shroud had arrived and I was called for my appointment within 4 days. The fitting took around 6 hours including removal of the old system . I was going from 4” to 6” so the stainless steel stack was made custom on site . The job was completed and I was more than satisfied with the look and quality ; and definitely the price was the best in Sydney. I would seriously recommend these guys .
Exhausts for every car – Fantastic business..have been coming to this place for years, with family and friends.. They give you estimate quotes, that stay close to what you would pay.. Never had a ($$$) shock, once returning to pick my car up.. Service with a smile. Very honest guys, for what I need.. For the price I need to pay.
Rip Off – Dont waste your money charged so much for 5 mins welding job on exhaust. They couldnt give a quote upfront, even though all they do is exhaust. Dont bother find another place.
Scammers – Scammers! Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy dealing with consumer affairs Booked in a job, was informed it would only take a couple of days, 2 weeks later they finally get me to come by to pickup. They asked me to pay in full before handing me the keys, i stupidly agreed. Starting the car and the exhaust sound was ridiculous, exhaust manifold was clearly not sealed properly, management tried to pass the sound as "engine damage", pleaded ignorance and refused to acknowledge the issue.
Just an outrageous experience, these guys are as dodgy as the come, just amazed they are still operating.
Took the car to midas exhaust down the road, finished the job instantly.
