Worst company, and do not recommend. Communication terrible and service provision difficult, ending up being expensive. Show details

Very good idea and a great way for people to participate in both the wholesale and P2P electricity market. Only thing they need to fix is more accuracy in metering charges on the "My Energy" view. Once that is done, they provide quite a good view of your runnings costs or profit. Show details
Fantastic operator that does what it says on the tin. It is a true reflection of the wholesale 5-minute spot price. Looking at other reviews on this portal though actually reflect this. The service offered requires the right investment on the VPP side otherwise it won't work well. I have 3-phase power, two 15kW inverters and two 25KWh battery… Read more
stacks that can meet the demand to take advantage of 5 minute price swings, the solar panels are almost for decoration at this point. This service is perfect for set and forget with a suitable VPP.
Here's my recommendations though given what I have read in other reviews: 1. Get your VPP setup first before the switch to wholesale with LocalVolts. This means so many things but the goal is to be able to draw or dump the full (30kW in my case) power any time of day, especially when it is 40 degrees out and inverters can get hot enough to cook an egg. 2. The settlement back end takes longer for the actual invoicing that you're used to with a normal energy retailer, so compensate with a good monitoring solution so you know what your system is doing, and using a solution like offered by POWSTON is a must. 3. Get MORE than what you need if you intend to consistently have negative bills, no good using up your battery all the time and then getting stuck with price spikes while you cook dinner after the sun has gone down and the battery is flat.
Communication hard to obtain – Signed up with LocalVolts in September 2024 because we have 2 accounts - one a positive solar supplier and one a grid power buyer. As yet have not received a bill; we produce more solar than we purchase grid power so might be in front, but don't know. Have just asked them how we are going; didn't get a response last time I asked. Show details
Terrible support – We signed up to Localvolts because our previous supplier, Sonnen, described them as the best fit for us when they decided to pull out of the market. But when I received my November bill, I as shocked to see the invoiced amount payable doubled that of October's when I expected it to be lower given that our solar panels should be more more… Read more
productive with the warmer weather in November.
I called their support number printed on their invoice, and was told that they're busy at that time and to leave my name and contact number and that they will return my call. A day passed and I heard nothing. The following day I call them again, and was told to leave a message which I did. 4 days later and I've still not heard from them. It just goes to show that suport is not there when you need it.
Promise so much and deliver so little – We were recommended to sign up with Local Volts by Sonnen (our previous electricity provider) after they exited the market. Unless you fully understand the purchase and sale of energy and how you can maximise your preferences then this provider is useless to you. There is zero support offered, zero guidance when you reach out, and to be honest… Read more
the most expensive electricity bill I have paid in years. I was willing to try something different but when I got stuck and asked for help it did not come.
