It worked ok after that though clothes would often come out very tangled I was very careful not to over load, occasionally it would stop with the same error but it would clear. Originally the machine assessed load and set a time for wash but it seemed to stop doing this and automatically went to the same time and a high water level

Then at the end of June it began having this error more regularly and eventually at the beginning of July I couldn't do anything to make the error go away. I reported the fault on the 5th July, waited a week for a repair man (a different repair company) the machine worked fine while he was there, so I was told to carry on using it, but new parts would be ordered as it could be the circuit board or a valve. When I told teh repair man what I had been told previously about the distribution of the washing he said that would have nothing to do with the error message I was getting.

Machine worked a couple more times then again error message appeared. Delay in receiving parts and many trips to the launderette and by the 31st July, with no hope of getting the washing machine fixed before mid August, the warranty company finally agreed to a refund, the warranty company had no replacement washing machines, I was advised to dispose of the machine and not return it to the store.

I will never again buy an electrical item or white goods from Aldi and would advise other customers to be aware that if there is a fault, repairs are subcontracted and can take some time and there are no replacements.

I was probably unlucky and maybe I just got a faulty machine but I was left without a washing machine, with a family of 4 to do laundry for, for a month and had extra costs that won't be refunded.

I am not a happy customer. I have since bought a new machine which performs a lot better than the Aldi one.

It has started to go off balance a bit when spinning but that's our fault for tossing in heavy items.We throw in blankets ,big towels ,bathmats ,shoes, anything that needs washing. Alter for big loads or adjust for small.

Tangles the clothes a bit. But without the agitator it fits more in the same space. Its a compromise..We've had many different machines and would trust this over other brands. Looking for another soon and will retire this one.

We will buy another Stirling. Our son and his girlfriend bought a Stirling 9kg.Not wanting to spend $700 on a replacement.They to ,have had no issues.

If you have a big family ,on a budget, grab this machine. It wont hurt the pocket like the other brands that seem to break down more than this model..

moves during the cycle so I can't understand those people with 'runaways' (please check the built-in leveller before writing a bad report). I haven't figured out all the program settings yet but just hitting 'Normal' does the job fine as it shakes and weighs the load (pretty cool to listen to) automatically and fills the tub accordingly. The 9 kilo washer was bigger than I wanted but you don't need to fill it during every wash and with the built in timer I can set it to come on during off-peak times to save power ( I haven't used this feature yet as haven't worked out how!)

One minor criticism is the lid which is really light and flimsy and not recommended for putting heavy things on. The other is the smallness of the writing on the display panel which makes it a little hard to read from to far away.

Pricing was $399 and a 3 yr warranty makes this unit very attractive which is why I bought it, knowing Aldi's great return policy. Basically, I saved about $250 on the Simpson I was going to buy but then again missed out on '6 months free detergent'. Shame!

Amazing product love it never missed a beat – All types, washes well, even stained work clothes, washes delicates great amazing product highly reccomended to anyone looking for a good top loader for a fraction of the price of big brands. Show details

Does an ok job but not as good as our one – We were in Aldi just looking and this was on discount clearance so we decided to buy it as the price was very good and as the one at home was getting old we wanted a new one that's more moden. Washing machine – Our last stirling wasing machine has lasted 10 years and still going strong as they don't come on special very often we decided to purchase a new one and store it but my wife decided she would use the new machine as we have a big family the machine goes 2 or 3 times a day. Control panel/board died after 5 years – Always tangled each washing load no matter what it is. Doesn't clean really dirty stuff no matter how long you set the wash cycle or if you use the heavy duty cycle. The rubber inside the lint filter disintegrated after only 3 years. dark clothes. The range of setting is OK but you can't change the preset spin time of some of them. Spin cycle in the last 12month was so noisy you could hear it loudly from 50m away. Would expect even a cheap machine would last longer, but was on a budget at the time.

Big and simple family washer – I bought this because its 1/ large sie 2/ Cheap! I know Sterling isnt the worlds greatest brand and it probably wont last forever, but its does and admirably job churning through family sized washes week in, week out and works fine. Its not too noisy and clothes are cleaned fine. It is rather platsicky and you can tell its cheaper model but I am happy enough with it and if it runs for another two years , I would consider it good value too  Show details

Worst machine I've ever owned. I wish there was a no star option – This is the worst machine I've ever owned! Noisy, ineffective, breaks easily and often, and wrecks your clothes. Did a great job – I purchased it in September 2013. We are farmers so our clothes get pretty dirty. would do a wash in 33 minutes depending on how I set the program. I will buy another one when they become available at our local store.

sterling washing machine 9.l – was a little difficult at first as it has no agitator in it like to older type but once you get to use it and you find out how to use it it is a very good machine and cleans your clothe very good and the best part it is very quiet one of the best features is that it is digital and therefore has so many automatic settings on it  Show details

Better off washing by hand! – Got this washer as it was within budget at the time and it was the worst decision ever! got it. The lint catcher to this day i have no idea where it is located... from day 1 i realised it didnt clean the clothes properly and left them with a musky smell? Even though i use a high aroma detergent!! Definitely save yourself the headache and by another brand.

Not bad but not greta – Very loud Tangles clothes very badly, clothes are very crinkled and need a very good iron once they're done. I find I have to do about 2-3 rinses to get things clean properly even on different settings the machine still doesn't give them a good clean even when only a light soil or a freshen up. inconvenienced 2 times. Overall features are great and ALDI had good intentions, but warranty support is a hit and miss and very tedious.

Good working through out warranty – I bought this which was fantastic for big loads of washing. Clothes wrecker – This Washing Machine is Disgusting to say the least. I have had the repair man out for a warranty call because it has Destroyed so many of My Clothes & Sheets on the NORMAL Cycle... believe it or not. Excellent for the price – I am very happy with my Aldi 9kg washing machine. It is quiet and fast. I can control how much water is used. It does knot up the clothes but if you pull them out as soon as the cycle stops and give each garment a good shake (and I do tend to hang my clothes on hanger to dry) its probably not too bad. quite successfully. I have pets and all their bedding goes in. The filter grabs most of the hair and I empty it after every wash. I use Aldi soap powder and am happy with that too. I don't like their soaker much but the soap powder is as good as any other on the market and a whole lot cheaper. I could have spent 2 to 3 times the amount of money on a new washing machine and I don't think there would have been much difference. It just remains to be seen how long it lasts. I do an average of about 3-4 loads per week.

Almost OK for the price – The machine has a lot of good points, especially price. It is quiet, has a good spin cycle and does a reasonable job of cleaning. However, it leaves fluff over everything and rolls the laundry up into a tight ball which can be a real drag to unravel. about it. It grieves me to throw away a reasonably new washing machine that is in good working order, but we have resolved to replace it with a machine that uses a flexible agitator.

Very happy with the service and the machine – First purchased this machine 2 years ago, and overfilled it (as not recommended to do so) the machine then stopped draining and eventually filled beyond half way of the drum. was a new machine on the shop floor! The cashier refunded my machine and put through the new one so I was covered for an additional 3 years warranty. Overall, very satisfied for the price, service and the machine itself.

Good value for money! – I love my 9kg Aldi washing machine. It cleans very well and doesn`t make half the noise my previous Kleenmaid would. Can tangle clothes but that means you probably should have put it on a gentler cycle. Living on a farm and using bore water, it has a great feature to filter your water so it doesn`t get to your pump. For $400, I have already got my money`s worth! Very impressed.  Show details

Not Even Worth 1 Star – Absolute rubbish this machine worked for only 2 washes then the pump stopped working. We got that fixed and it stopped again with in another wash. This garbage should not be sold and ALDI needs to be ashamed of stealing money from customers for this junk. Absolutely appalling!!! – Horrible, always knotting up clothes, always seems to break or comes up with errors. Would not recommend it at all! When we called a service man to come fix it, it has taken them over a week to get back to us on when they would come and fix it. Absolutely appalling!

Bad from the day I bought it – During warranty period the filter and motor had to be replaced. I had to check at least twice every wash to untangle clothes. Now that it is out of warranty it will not spin, pump out water and its electronics have failed. Aldi is good for many products but not cheep electrical goods.

top machine – I bought this stirling washing machine for $300 what a great price at aldi byron bay about 3 years ago No problems with it so far it works very well a bit noisy maybe but it does not schew up socks. It does not shake the house, it is so compact for such a big load Great item.

Stirling (Aldi) 9kg Top Loader – This thing they call a washing machine, is pure EVIL. When you open the lid while it's doing a wash and you see the tangled mess the clothes are in, one puts one's hand in to try and separate the very tightly packed ball... That's the first mistake... A few pairs of knickers break loose and wrap themselves around your hand, tightening and sink… Read more

into the abyss of the machine taking your hand with it.. Then, a leg of a pair of trousers wraps around your arm one way, whilst the other leg flings itself in the opposite direction, immediately putting a strangle hold on the whole arm, whilst agitating in ever increasing circles until your whole body is moving back and forward like you have St. Vitus Dance. It then literally throws a bra around your neck, fastening the clasps and pulling your head closer and closer to the depths of hell.

Whilst all of this is happening, the machine is jumping all around the laundry groaning like demented ghost while the poltergeists are throwing it around putting holes in the walls, and you are doing a River Dance stomping around trying not to get your feet cut off by the machine coming down full force on them while you are frantically trying to extricate your arm, and your head is so close to the tangled mess you would find it absolutely impossible to differentiate between the over 20 items you have in there as they have become an 'all in one' piece of entanglement, never to be individualised again.

That's when my luck changed (thank goodness)... just as I was about to be pulled into the depths of hell, the drum, banged relentlessly on the edges of the machine creating enough noise for the neighbours to think that you had WWIII happening. Arrhhhh, but bliss... suddenly the machine walks over to the other end of the laundry banging the wall down, and slowly comes to a stop, beeping and beeping and beeping, whilst the drum stops and I could try and rescue my arm.

As I tried to pull my arm out, there was an unexplainable weight of indecipherable clothing attached in a massive lump.

(Oh, and by the way, don't try and put it on a slower wash and spin thinking it will be better, because it doesn't spin the water out of the tangled mess and you end up with a tangled ball of dripping water).

Do I recommend the Aldi Stirling 9kg Washing Machine? I would certainly do that if I were making a horror movie.

each wash takes about 5 seconds to do. A fraction noisier than previous machine doing certain parts of the cycle which isn't an issue. The clothes do get tangled up on completion of the cycle which may be an issue for some but not for me. The price is simply insane it's so cheap and the after sale customer service can't be bettered by any other product or store with a 3 year warranty.

Verdict - easy 4 out of 5 stars

Pros - price, warranty, cycle choices, machine manoeuvrability, filter cleaning, reliability

Cons - tangled clothes

stopped spinning dry – Having to wrench all the water out after wash now..been only a year since we bought it..lost the docket so can't get warranty..not good,poor quality..when we first bought it we thought for that size machine it sure was a bargain..now we know why..thanks but no thanks...good luck to all the other buyers.

DISAPPOINTING – We have returned our machine for a full refund, so are happy with Aldi's service in that regard. The machine itself is not much good. It badly tangles and knots clothing, but the worst aspect is it's pathetic attempt to spin clothes dry. Not dry at all, soggy and heavy even after repeated spins. poor spinning, bad tangling

Worst product ever! – Don't wasre your money.They say you get what you pay for, but all I wanted was a washing machine that washes cloths, hello they have been making these things for ever all it needs to do is wash clothes not jump around the laundry destroying the walls and also tangling everything in the wash pulling the draw strings out of pants. Get it together Sterling or get rid of it .......:( It's cheap and very nasty
