They are only in it to meet their shareholders requirements – They are only in it to meet their shareholders, requirements. Ive been with these, i guess maybe things. For 25 yrs, i pay $1,500 Dollars per year, never made a claim until last year for a Hernia operation.. It cost me $4,000 dollars,, these guys rebated me with a massive $250 Stinking Bucks, what a total joke. They also refused a $13.50 prescription claim.
In your dreams. I could certainly live without Manchester unity, so lift your game – I made a phone call today in relation to an important matter and was told by a voice message that you were experiencing a larger than usual amount of calls and to ring back. If this is the way MUCHC treat their customers I may very well chose to go somewhere else. This is not good enough. My call is important to. I realize one can go on line to get information but there are times when you need to speak to a "person". Technology is not that good. nothing at the moment No service
4 years loyal - then made to feel like an idiot – Nearly 4 years ago, my wife and i signed up with Manchester Unity. The reason being, we wanted private health insurance as we were recently married. We also wanted a plan that would allow my wife to have a baby in a private hospital. The plan allowed that at the time... So, after 4 years we thought about starting a family. Our plan had gone up in price many times during the 4 years - BUT we kept paying for it and NEVER claimed anything at all.
After my wife found out she was pregnant, we decided to get a private doctor and make sure the hospital was on the list of approved ones. All was well until my wife looked into the plan we were on. With tears in her eyes, it seemed that the plan was for older people. We were covered for heart, major surgery, prosthesis etc but NOT for new families.
What had gone wrong? The plan was still the same! We were paying more now than ever! Something went terribly wrong. After speaking to someone that had average english, we were promised an answer by emai, within 3-5 woaking days. It never came. I called again and spoke to a different person. Eventually 3+ weeks had passed and we paid for another month of health cover we didnt need - (was probably their plan all along).
Their excuse was that they had sent a letter to all customers explaining there would be changes. We neveer got it. Funnily enough when you are on hold (for an average of 15mins) the recorded voice tells you that your plan is checked to see if it suits you or needs to be updated. Why were we paying for old persons cover and not emailed, phoned, sent a letter...anything???
Do the maths. 4 years. Starting at $141 per month until a couple of months ago where we ended up paying $191pm. Wasted money - we were ripped off! They changed the cover to "top hospital" @ $261pm! We had to back-pay 3 months to "catch up". What a joke! No apologies, no loyalty waver or anything. They can't even get the payment right. The credit card fails every single time when it has been confirmed on the phone and online - idiots! Once the baby is born, we will be leaving and going with a decent company that rewards it's members.
Thanks for nothing manchester!
Expensive, rude, long waiting time on the phone, igonrant management, poor contact options & web facilities
Good – I've been with Manchester Unity for many years and never had an issue. Had no troubles at all with upgrading to family policy and getting my newborn covered as well. They have a phone support program where a midwive calls throughout your pregnancy and when the baby is little to answer any concerns you have. You can call or email and ask them questions anytime as well. Great support. Phone queries have always been very well resolved as well. Hold time on the phone not too bad either. Good rebates for alternate therapies such as massage, naturopathy in their extras. Family Cover was the most economical I could find that had the hospital and extras I needed. Easy to submit claims by fax or email. None really.
Good – we have been with MU for 9 years. We found there products to be the least confusing when we shopped around for private health cover. I recently shopped around again, however I could not find much better than MU. good $ value. Prompt payment of claims recent changes to some levels of cover, however still good value. No branches, but this does keep costs (premiums) down.
