Map Perfecto Capsule S02HS

Okay until it fails - and you aren't locked in to Map capsules – We bought two of these machines at a good price from Good Guys, to put in holiday units that we were renovating. Unfortunately the renovations took longer than expected; the machines only came out of their boxes 14 months later. The first has failed after just 7 weekend's use (didn't even last for the 30 coffee pods that came with it). Took it… Read more
back to Good Guys who rang Map, they didn't want to know us and offered nothing. Good Guys offered us a discount on something else, however we won't be buying another Map and probably won't get it from Good Guys either. What was that about aiming for 100% customer satisfaction? Cheap, Bad.
Great Machine at a great price – I bought this machine for $49 at Good Guys and it is money well spent. What a bargain! It is easy to use and easy to clean. It takes various brands of pods so you are sure to find one to your taste. The best thing about it is the steaming wand. The milk is much better than that frothed in an electric brother. This machine is used about three times a day and works really well each and every time. The steam wand and the ease of use. Show reply
Map Perfecto great for home use – I recently bought this machine & I'm still experimenting with different strength & branded capsules for my perfecto cup. I've found that to much water passing through the pods create a bitter tasting coffee so I've gone back to the factory settings & my results are much better. I love the steamer for frothing the milk, it's also the reason I… Read more · 1
chose this machine over similar devices. Ease of cleaning it is another reason. For quick cups on work day mornings, I warm some milk in the microwave for 20/30 seconds, while my Perfecto is warming up, then top my cup up from the brewer. So far I've had not problems. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase especially for the price I paid. quick, convenient & east to use
Totally unreliable machine – This is a long story ... please be patient. Having read the various mixed feedback on Product Review it was with some trepidation that I decided to buy the MAP Perfecto coffee machine last Sunday. The main thing I liked about this machine is that it came with a steamer for frothing (unlike the many other capsule machines on the market which do… Read more
not have one built in). It was a clearance item at The Good Guys, selling at about half price for $49. I also purchased an additional 2 year warranty for an extra $15. I thought what a great deal this was, even if this machine didn’t last the distance … how wrong I was!
Having taken into account the various difficulties described by users on this site I thought I would be patient with any problems I might have encountered. And so it was that I made my first cappuccino on Tuesday, 2 days later. Yea, the coffee wasn’t great but I thought I would gradually try out the various Caffitaly capsules and I was sure I would find the right strength and taste for me eventually. The steamer was a bit of a challenge, with a lot of hot water spilling all over the place, but with patience and perseverance I knew I would master it with time.
I made my second cappuccino on the Thursday (using a different strength coffee) and the experience was similar to the one before … same again on Friday. Then the real problems started.
I attempted to make coffee yesterday but an error message occurred and the machine would not work at all. I had to start all over again after turning the machine off and on, but I was somewhat frustrated after wasting the capsule and gave it a miss (I am normally a patient person).
Today, Sunday, I had everything ready for my wife and two guests for a nice morning cappuccino. Put the capsule in and pressed down the handle to perforate it, and after all the lights were on (to indicate that the machine was ready), I pressed the coffee button but it would not work. I pressed the other coffee selections but no response. I tried to take out the capsule but it was stuck. I eventually took it out after much fiddling around and pushed it back in … but same result. Turned the machine off to cool it down and then on again some time afterwards but the problem remained. No coffee on this occasion for 4 desperate caffeine craving adults … what a disaster!
I could put up with coffee perhaps not being that great, and with the steamer somewhat difficult to manage, but I wasn’t going to accept a situation when on any day I wasn’t quite sure whether or not the machine would actually be able to produce a coffee!
I took it back today to The Good Guys and they gave me a full refund … I am glad that they live by their “good” name! Compact, inbuilt steamer for frothing Unreliable ... can't assume that it will make you a coffee at any time

Machine Seems Okay - but is lousy with MAP Coffee Pods – I'm at a slight loss as to how to rate this machine. It works fine, the water and coffee comes out very hot, and there doesn't seem to be any problem. But when I use the MAP coffee capsules (Milano and Portofino) well, my wife thinks the coffee is just barely okay at best, while I think it rough as guts. I ran several cups of hot water through the… Read more
machine (manual says to run one through before first use, and after infrequent use), and the coffee improved marginally, but I still didn't like it.
We also own a Delonghi Citiz Nespresso machine and an Aldi's Expressi machine. The Nespresso is the best (and dearest), while the Aldi's one is very good, but a rung below the Nespresso one. However, I'd rate the MAP pods as three or four rungs below the Aldi's machine.
Scratching my head, I went and bought Woolworths Select Colombian Espresso coffee capsules, which also use the Caffitaly system, and tried them in this machine. The results were better. My wife thought they were nearly on par with the output from the Aldi's machine, while I thought the result was somewhat below par. Beats me, I might get better results with other Woolworths Select capsules.
The only other issue I have is that quite often, the MAP pods get caught against the upper spike as I try to push the pod unit in, and I have to jiggle it quite a bit to get the pod in. This hasn't happened yet with the Woolworths' ones.
So, how do I rate the machine?
Is my machine defective is some way - since others here seem to like the MAP pods' coffee?
Or am I just rating the MAP pods as opposed to the machine itself? ( I suspect most people buying the machine would initially get the MAP pods from Good Guys or Officeworks).
Or is it that the machine and pods are working fine, and I just don't like the Italian style of the output? Contrary to popular opinion that all Italian barristas are exceptional, I've lived over there for nearly six months, and I have had plenty of what I would perceive as pretty rough espressos and cappucinos - akin to what I get out of this machine using the MAP pods.
I was initially going to give this machine two stars (i.e. bad), but decided to give it three stars (i.e. okay) on the off chance that, assuming my machine isn't defective, someone might actually like the style of coffee that comes out of my machine using the MAP pods.
A final note, some people have written here and at the Aldi's machine reviews that the MAP pods and Aldi's pods are interchangeable. This is definitely not the case. I twice put MAP pods into the Aldi's machine, and the machine struggled badly, and I got coffee grounds coming out in the coffee. This wouldn't happen if they were compatible.
Regards. Inexpensive, reliable. Don't like the coffee that comes out of the MAP pods

Great little machine – Bought this at the weekend and is great for the price. Had a bit of trouble to start, but after reading the reviews here and responses from the MAP representatives I primed my machine again and now it is working just fine. I love having the steaming wand although I need a little practice on getting my milk the right temperature every time. Highly recommend. Cost, range of capsules
Just used it for the first time – May seem hard to use but in all honesty, there are youtube instructional vids which really make it very simple. Just made a coffee for the first time a (the mild capsule) which seems to be strong enough...Only thing i didn't do was heat up the steamer nozzle by pressing the button (my mistake lol). I know now so will do this next time. It's loud… Read more · 5
but then so are my kids.. And me. Got a question though, it came with a rectangular box which is not mentioned in the instruction booklet. What's it for? To store used capsules??? Looks nice, seems simple enough The instructional manual is confusing, you're better off watching the youtube vid :)
Awesome bang for your buck – This machine is great! - yes it's a bit loud but you know when your coffee is ready! I use ALDI capsules and they work great. The coffee I get is lovely and I use an automatic frother which is seperate from the machine. I love this machine and feel guilty when I use it 'cause it was so cheap! Great coffee, easy to use, no mess, cheap Noisy, slow if your making multiple coffees, doesn't look as funky as others Show reply
Don't waste your money – Basically.....hard to use, instructions are very basic, the water container is in the worst position to get in and out of the machine and nearly gets stuck each time, noisy. When I took back to Harvey Norman (as mine was faulty) they also said that a number of people had to bring back due to faults. Map customer service is non-existent, you… Read more
can't even wait on hold for them....if their phones are busy you just have to hang up and keep trying, luckily Harvey Norman were helpful. Cheap (and nasty) Everything

Great machine – Works well, easy to use however the strong coffee and hot chocolate are very weak tasting? We would need 2pods to get taste. Is this normal or is there a trick to getting stronger coffee? frothier is great. Would just like it to be a bit stronger in taste. Great for price though. The frothier! Not strong enough coffee. I would assume a double shot of a strong pod would be lethal. When added with milk it's just drinkable. Show reply
Fair for the price – Bought it for fathers day so far so good! Must read instructions or you will have problems! We didn't purge the water at first but then read instructions and it works great.. Creama is good with good tasting coffee only bought the intense flavour as we like strong coffee and we are happy Inexpensive Noisy
Buy a Nesspresso – It works quite well, but yes it is a little noisy. Not real hard to use once you get used to it. I dont like the coffee though, some will, but there too little choice. if you paid a lot for it you will be spewing, but at $90 it has great potential, just failed me on the taste cheap You need a licence to pilot it, its not turn it on and press a button.
ok coffee – i bought one a coupleof weeks ago and still trying to work out how to work it. i purchased this model because of the price. and . is mainly used for visitors. not that impressed with the flavour. im finding milk or water spilling everywhere drip tray is limited. not that pleased with it good price and can buy pods locally i find it difficult to… Read more
fit a container under the steamer and find it waters down the milk and not that taken with the flavour

one cup at a time What the!!!!!! – Why is it that i can only make one cup at a time, then i have to wait for the three lights to turn on so i can make the next cup. There should be someone at Good Guys to demonstrate how to use it. The coffee does smell and taste wonderful when you finally learn how to use the coffee machine. makes great coffee, just like in the coffee shops.
Better than instant coffee – I purchased this from the good guys and had it for 3 days. The coffee is tasty enough, but there are only 4 varieties and 1 is decaf. You can have a lungo, cafe cream or expresso which is mainly to do with how much coffee is dispensed. You can program the amount of water for each type if you want to. If you like italian coffee, you will like this.… Read more
It is a very well built machine. Good quality, but quite heavy. Easy to use and clean, Build quality. Good value for the price. Quite noisy. Not enough variety in the coffee.
need some sweet coffee all too strong for me
Map italian coffee maker – Bought one today . I dont think its worth the $79 i paid for it. Its hit and miss. can only make 1 cup and then i have to wait for the machine to cool down. Does anyone else have that problem. It looked easy enough to use in the shop. But i could not make it work.I should of read the reviews before purchasing one. Please Map..tell me where i'm going… Read more
wrong. I have read and re read the manual inexpensive. wanted to use a cheaper one before i got serious with a more expensive one. I Should have just bite the bullet and got the nespresso i could only make 1 coffee and had to wait for the machine to cool down before i could use it again. The three front button would not light up to continue after the first coffee.

Very unhappy customer – I bought the product from Good Guys a week ago on a Saterday. Got home the machine was that noisy and you wait forever for your coffee. It then stopped working took it back to good guys the same day ,They would not exchange it and insisted on phoning the producers of the machine . After waiting about a hour they determined we were not working it… Read more
right. Needless to say it still not working properly . It basically sits as a ornament in the kitchen. Its a total waste of money and time.
Apparently it is not time for a coffee – Purchased a machine from the Good Guys to be used in a very small office. Followed instructions, pressed button to dispense coffee and nothing happened. After repeating process several times, we did manage to get a cup of coffee. But the next day we had the same problem. I took it back to the Good Guys and they swapped it right over, no trouble.… Read more
Took this one back to the office and it is exactly the same. So i am waiting for the Map helpline people to call back. What a waste of time.
Also, i did use the milk frother (which does seem to work) however, when you froth a cup of milk you can't get it out from underneath the nozzle without spilling it everywhere. The one coffee i had was good. Although, it wasn't at the time i wanted it. It basically doesn't work.
we had exact same problem. we are taking it back and we have printed off your review. waste of time, pods and money.
