Paid half as a deposit $450 in late 2023... My partner passed away in Feb 2024.Waiting for 2 shutters and never heard from them again Couldn't get them on the phone.Found out later they had closed.Rip off
Disgusting behaviour – Absolutely disgusting behaviour from [Name Removed] when we said that we’d like to look at our options and get back to them in a couple of days. Ironically saying that we’re throwing a tantrum while he’s acting like a five year old that didn’t get his way because I asked for a couple of days. I would strongly advise against using this company and be very careful when engaging their services. Looks like we dodged a bullet here.
Very pushy salesman – I enquired with Mates Rates seeking some outdoor blinds. I provided the measurements and received a quote. I said that I wanted to discuss with my partner that night. He then became very aggressive (shouty aggressive). Continued to speak over me. QOuld not allow me to speak.
Told me they were very busy (blah, blah, blah) and then proceeded to tell me "we don't need your business anyway." On hearing that, I hung up the phone.
Unsurprisingly they didn't get our business.
This company does not need this salesman on their team.
Here's the kicker though, I found a local company who can do them nearly a third cheaper.

hasn't been paid for his last 15 jobs from Mates Rates. Don't give them a cent! I now know they have had to change business names a few times, so be wary.

Rude. Arrogant. Bullying behaviour – DO NOT USE****** I told Sam I wanted to check out more quotes and we could likely beat his price, he lost his sh*t. What a horribly arrogant man! And this is before we even committed to anything! Dodged a bullet there! DO NOT USE!!!!

Love my shutters – I love my roller shutters, since having them on I’ve had a better sleep for my night shifts. The installer was very professional, installation was quick and an easy transaction. Service by the salesmen were great and professional.. very happy with my mates rates. Will be getting the rest of my house done by these guys. Show details

Shockingly rude – Doesn't stick to promised timeframes and becomes extremely abusive when questioned about it...calls ppl absolutely disgusting names and makes comments about their weight! If you leave a bad review on facebook the owner will delete and block you! Show details

Steer clear of this company!! – After inital quote and measure I put a deposit down for 1 shutter. 15 days after inital meeting I asked when I would be getting a final measure, I was told they would be in touch. I was abused told us NURSES and bottom of the barrel, he earn more than me apparently. He tried to belittle me but it was a pathetic attempt at best. After several attempts to get him to stop talking, he certainly is one who enjoys to hear his own argumentative voice I was able to end the conversation. The demeanour to women is appaling and certainly makes me hope he is an un married man. I now have had to seek legal advice to ensure I get a full refund of my deposit. Don't be fooled by free measure and quote he will try take money off you and your deposit later when you see his true colours. Rude Arrogant Company – Don't waste your time. They are expensive and do not finish the job to customer satisfaction. When you complain [Name Removed] decides it is appropriate to abuse you and belittle you. Why they are still in business amazes me.

rang me and tried to pressure sell again, so I told him I hadn't decided (about to say due to ill health), until that moment when I said due him being so pushy I've decided not to use him. Which we would need to discuss the materials and make sure we are happy to go ahead when WE ARE READY. only for them to become rude and completely unprofessional with there messages. Saying we should have had the cash ready if we asked for a cash price. That it wouldn't be worth it for them to come out 3 times. If they had have come out in the first place when we were home they could have measured and shown us the materials at the same time. Then there would be no third visit. They are extremely rude and pushy and when they don't get there way they'll become rude and inconsiderate. asked for the price of that one shutter he installed previously. Then he replied that he doesn’t have measurements for it and quote a price based on his assumptions off the photo. That immediately sent alarm bells as to why he doesn’t have measurements for a job he claimed he has done previously. So I backed off and did not reply.
He started hounding me with msges every day. I ignored them assuming it would go away with most sales people getting the point having had no replies and moving on to other customers. Then the msges started to get rude. I replied saying I was getting other quotes and to stop hounding me. He then became very rude and offensive calling me names such as communist pig etc etc
AVOID this company like a plague. My experience is he loves to pick a fight. Very rude and offensive.
