Maxi-Cosi Euro

Great quality – I had the seat initially installed by a licensed installer but have since removed and installed it in myself several times. I find it very easy to use as there are directions on the sides to show you where you thread the seat belt etc. I have taken it apart to wash the covers several times too and they have never faded, freyed or shown any wear… Read more

The seat itself is very comfortable. I have found it very sturdy and safe.
The seat protector that came with it has been get too, protecting the car seat from any spills and stains.
Baby gets way to hot – My 1st daughter was in the brutal capsule until she was 3months and we bought the Maxi cosi euro the same week she would cry every time she was in the car seat and when we took her out she would be drentched in sweat even in winter we would always make sure she had minimal close on and she would still get too overheated. My 2nd daughter now… Read more
3months and I have just transferred her to the maxi cosi euro and she experiences the exact same thing. We have no choice but to buy a new car seat and have gone with Britax and no issues.
How can this be sold in Australia – Bought this seat a few days ago. When I installed it (Rearward facing) using isofix I couldn’t get it tight. It moved side to side atleast 30cm. When I tried the bubba in it I couldn’t get the straps to tighten up. The tighting strap is at such a bad angle it wont tighten. I don’t recommend this seat to anyone, just isn’t worth it.

Temperamental seat – Try to be fair here. Things I like is 1) my toddler was able to rear face until 23 months, at which point he started getting really upset travelling rear facing and looked squished in the seat, he is small for his age. 2) The fabric is easy to clean, easy to wash, and cool wicking, but after 2 years use and quite a few washes the filling has… Read more
bunched up and become uneven inside the cover. 3) Head rest has good side impact cushions, but the levers to adjust the headrest pop out of place so the only way to adjust the headrest properly is to take the car seat out of the car and manually move the bar up. The levers on our seat are just loose in the back and fall down if you try to use them to adjust the headrest. 4) The seat belt clips in and feels safe, but our seat has always had the belt clip on one strap threaded the wrong way, so whenever you do the straps up there is a half twist on one belt in order to clip it in. This concerns me a bit that it might injure my son if we had an accident because it is twisted, but as we moved countries not long after my son was born and before we realised it was faulty, we haven't returned it. 5) The seat installs well into the car using the seatbelt method, the isofix has never been an option as it will never tighten and stay green, it always slips back to half red half green as soon as you let pressure off the straps. 6) I like that you can clip each one of the straps in separately, rather than fitting them both together to do up like my other seat requires, but I do sometimes catch the fabric for the belt clip (that goes between the legs) in the latch and then it doesn't clip in properly, you have to be careful to keep your fingers between the clip and fabric so it doesn't get caught and listen for the clicks as you push the belt clips in.
Just one issue! – Bought two Euros as soon as the isogo version was released. Have so far done ISOFIX installs in 4 different cars. The easiest by far was the UK designed & built Nissan Qashqai. All other cars I've fit it in are not European and have been much harder. Getting the isogo nice and firm is easy if you peel back the seat cover on the bottom corners,… Read more
revealing gaps where you can pull the straps at the correct angle. I find pulling them at the side is the wrong angle and can't get the indicators green.
Bub is comfy, never sweats, and the seat looks good (not an essential with car seats, but a nice perk). I went with this seat over other isofix compatible ones because of the G-cell side impact protection.
The only issue I have is getting the harness tight enough for bub. By the end of the journey, the straps fail the "pinch test" most of the time. I had heard you can use the tightening lever like a ratchet, but still struggle to get the harness tight enough.
I do like everything else about the seat though.
Really unhappy about Isofix – Nice car seat, really well designed. I read other reviews and the rear facing car seat harness works just fine, its on a kind of crank system and you can't crush baby like the older style car seats. The harness system and the material really make this a lovely well finished car seat. Our only issue was the isofix mounting system seem to have a… Read more · 2
flaw. No matter what we do we can't seem to get a really nice fit in either of our cars, there seems to be way to much movement and both are recent model cars 2014!! , it has us puzzled, why such a poor system? It kind of looks like they have just attached isofix clips to a bit of seat belt material and stapled it to the old model (not isofix) car seat, and stapled it to the wrong spot because it moves about and it is not safe, kinda defeats the purpose of isofix (a car seat people can't get wrong mounting). Would I buy another? Unsure because the isofix being unsafe really upset us, yet the design minus the isofix is second to none.
Positive reviews
Safe and comfortable – I don't like to skimp on safety and this seat keeps my little one comfortable and secure. We have had all kinds of food spilled and they have all come out. The only downfall I have is that it is pretty heavy which makes it hard to be transferred between cars. We have had to buy another one so it doesn't get removed.
Good seat but doesn't sit well on car – Not as easy to install as they show on their video. The green indicator to say strap is tight enough goes from green to red even after pulling it as tight as you can. Seat moves when on car when you pull or tighten the straps. We had to put towels everywhere to help with the positioning. ..not sure if all car seats require this as well but it… Read more
makes re-installation very fiddly and difficult.. on the bright side, our 18month finds it comfortable i guess as she falls asleep when we put her in it.
Very Cosi ! – Love this seat it's comfortable baby sits in it well and safe we haven't had any issues with cleaning a nappy leak the fabric went through the wash fine still looks like new my boy doesn't sweat in it and he is a sweaty baby we did lots of research before we got this car seat and not long after buying it there was a recall on it the company were quick at responding and sent us a new cover.

Plastic part cuts baby’s heels when in reverse! – We bought 2 seats and used them for my daughter in 2015. Now we have a son and have decided to use them for him but unfortunately the plastic backing has cut up the back of his heels, this did not happen with our daughter but she must have not kicked as much or wasn’t as strong or her legs weren’t as Long. Very upset that we have put our baby… Read more
through this and had no idea why he hated the car so much until we realised where the cuts had come from
Comfy enough, but unusual design choices – Installation was not too difficult, but didn't seem all that intuitive and requires some fiddly work to put in and take out correctly. An annoying feature is that the flap that goes between the child's legs often gets sat on and you have to fish it out from under them! Could have been easily fixed with a piece of velcro. Cleaning was fine and the fabric is quite durable. Overall, not ideal considering the expensive price tag.
I wish I read reviews and never bought this seat! – The seat doesn't secure into the car, I could shake it whilst installed (correctly by ambulance officer). The seat belt unclips (my newborn was definitely not able to do this himself). The "bamboo" material is worse than my last car seat, It feels soft, but it makes him sweat a lot! I had to stop using it because it was just completely unsafe, as… Read more
the paramedic who was installing it told us, if we had an accident, his car seat would not protect him as it should. Really upset at the money we waisted (not a cheap seat), the good ol cheapy is 100% safer than this junk. So disgusted in the company, and their customer service, I will not be purchasing their brand for our next babies, that's for sure!

Great car seat – The maxi cosi euro is great. My baby is so happy and comfortable in the car. We have hired a few car seats when travelling of other brands and she was so unhappy and hard to travel with. We got the seat professionally fitted and don’t tend to take it in/out for safety reasons. The only downfall is the bit between the legs that gets caught user my baby. But the magnetic strap holders are amazing!

Unsafe – Unsafe. The buckle comes undone all the time. Apparently my 11 month old is smart and car seats are not designed to keep children restrained. Rude staff. Refuse to assess, repair, replace or refund. Terrible service. Do not buy. The cheap one my mum got from Kmart does not have this problem.
Looks good but my seat is unsafe and company won't replace – I am aware that there were issues surrounding the release of this seat that were supposed to have been fixed with a replacement seat cover - however my issues do not relate to the seat cover issue but Maxi Cosi refuse to entertain the idea that there is an issue. The straps get stuck and are unable to be fully tightened, they also come loose… Read more
while my toddler is strapped in - i took the seat out to clean the car and noticed that ALL straps (shoulder and tightening belt) were becoming seriously frayed after one year. I called to discuss (I'm concerned about what is causing these issues and don't simply want to have to keep having the straps replaced) and was given the worst customer service I have ever received, including being told that I live in SA when I live in QLD - she actually argued with me! I think I would know where I live....
I took the seat to their repairer and he wouldn't touch it - he said that it is defective and was sending it back to the parent company, however they will only replace the straps as they can't replace the seat as it is no longer being made.
I have reported both this product and the company as I believe their practices are putting childrens lives in danger - DO NOT BUY!!
Horrible, uncomfortable! – Car seat doesn't recline enough to make my year old comfortable when she sleeps. Her head moves forward everytime I break. I wish I never bought it. I have it set on the most reclinable setting so I can't imagine how uncomfortable would be the other position. I was expecting more for what we paid.
Horrible - Do Not Purchase – Dangerous car seat, straps do not tighten and buckle comes un done whilst Bub is in the seat. Have contacted durell to be to told my daughter must be clever and un buckle the seat buckle herself. Do not purchase this seat at all as it is not safe have seen the buckle issue mentioned in previous reviews.
Faulty manufacturing on Euro Model seats - Don't risk it – Tried installing our Euro rear-facing but the buckle on the strap at back of the seat was manufactured back to front, preventing it from being adjusted. Watching Maxi-Cosi youtube installation videos we realised we weren't crazy, in the video the buckle is the right way around, facing outwards so you can adjust it! The store manager agreed with… Read more
our concern and gave us a refund. Apparently Maxi-Cosi had said the buckles were meant to be like that (which makes no sense). Don't risk it with these guys.
Baby's head not stable while asleep on the drive forward facing – The issue isnt about installation or use, its about forward facing seats not reclining back enough for babys head to be stable while asleep, when breaking car babys head freely falls down forward. Is there any fix to this? It was safe and confortable while rear facing upto 11 months then the baby grows out of it rear faced.

This car seat shouldn't be allowed! – I bought this car seat thinking it was one of the best because of its price tag but its the opposite. The fabric is so cheap and everything that catches pulls it. No matter how tight i tightened the belts, my son was able to get his arms out! Very unsafe and i wish i bought a cheaper brand which my husband did and we have had no issues with his. Im surprised this is still being sold!

This product is user unfriendly – What a complicated piece of rubbish this car seat is. We bought this thinking it was the best and also bought a secondary mothers choice for our other car and I tell you hands down, the mothers choice is way better than this ridiculous contraption. Try to adjust the height and the levers snap off! Yes SNAP off so now my son no longer fits into this seat and he is only 6 months old. Do not buy this junk!
Better car seats out there! – Very hard to tighten straps when in rear facing position. Material has pulls in it already. Although made of Bamboo didn't make much difference heat wise or better breathing. This car seat has also gone to repairer but couldn't find a high wrong. Now trying to contact the area manager for Dorrell as the strap to tighten has started fraying… Read more
because repairer showed us a different way of securing and tightening. Not happy with Dorrel customer service either.

Terrible – We too have had the issue of one strap being tight and the other loose. Had it inspected and it turns out there are screws that have been screwed in too far and have cracked the plastic which is stopping the harness adjusting properly. Our seat has been deemed unrepairable. I am currently chasing Maxi Cosi/Dorel who have been far from pleasant to… Read more
deal with. This defect is also on top of having to have the seat liner replaced due to it stopping the harness from being locked in.
Unsafe car seat putting babies lives at risk – This seat should be recalled country wide. Notifications should be provided via a public forum so that all parents who have purchased this seat are notified. We came across this recall by chance. The straps are faulty, one side is extremely tight and the other side is extremely loose. Extremely unsafe. maxi cosi do not appear to be taking… Read more
this problem seriously, clearly many others are experiencing these problems. It is appalling. I will be returning this seat tomorrow and will not purchase any maxi cosi products.
Faulty – Strap gets caught when trying to tighten which means child is not safely harnessed in. Fabric looks nice but mine started to get pulls in it a week after we started using it. Product has just been recalled. Just took mine back to shop for refund and bought safe n sound platinum.
Faulty seatbelt – So after owning the Euro for almost 2 years my son has somehow managed to pull the seatbelt out of the buckle without pressing on the release button. After seeing him do this I took a closer look and realised If you tug the left strap in a certain angle it just comes right off the buckle. Kind of disappointing that a child restraint can have this… Read more
fault let alone a car seatbelt. No idea howlong I've had this problem for but it only happens to the left strap.
So much for safety.
Maxi-Cosi Euro – I was happy with this product to begin with easy to fit & thought it was safe with the ISO FIX connectors. Ho wrong I was it is an absolute disgrace this product is still being sold the seat belt pretensioners are not working meaning your will baby will not be held in safely in place. this will stop you flying forward when suddenly break. This should be the same with your baby's car seat not the case with Maxi Cosi Euro this product needs to be recalled immediately before a child is seriously injured. Very disappointed :-( Maxi Cosi
Very dangerous – Tighten the straps, then without pulling the release lever, pull on the straps firmly and they will slip through the clamp with relative ease. Rather baffling that no-one picked up on it during testing/production. Now we are in a country town, with no shops open on a Sunday, no close by baby shops and 3 hours from home with our little one.… Read more
Certainly never expected to be in this sort of predicament buying a car seat in the higher price point group.
How is it released to the market not meeting standards? – http://www.raa.com.au/motoring-and-road-safety/child-safety-advice-and-news/latest-news This seat is being returned on this basis alone. Breathable fabric tick. All this within a small footprint for a smaller car tick. Now just so disappointed and angry.
Non certified, seriousl safety fault – We bought our Euro in April 2015, but recently saw a video on Facebook showing the harness straps coming loose just by tugging on them. We tested our seat and found we had the same problem. We have been driving our gorgeous little girl in a seat that would have killed her, had we been in an accident. After that, we found that the seat is not… Read more
certified to the australian standard, and is illegal to sell or use in Australia. We returned the seat this week for a full refund (they have been pulled off of store shelves) and purchased another Australian brand. We will never, ever look at a Maxi Cosi seat again.
OMG maxi cosi Euro is unsafe – bought this carseat a few weeks ago and my beautifule girl showed me her face for the first time last weekend, sharing my experience and joy with firiends on fb, i were told about a issue relating to maxi coasi euro being unsafe, got DH on i6 to check it out. waited on my i6 for 5 minutes and he came back and said yes it had the fault went… Read more

Bad rearward seating arrangement – After a lot of research and reviews, we decided to buy Maxi-Cosi EURO. Some reasons were: i) Good marketing strategy ii) Product highlights iii) Good aesthetics iv) Seat fabric and layout However, after owning and having the seat installed, we are really unimpressed and infact utterly disappointed at the negative sides of this car seat.… Read more
These are:
i) Bad rearward-facing arrangement: Sides are blocked by harness straps and gets in the way each and every time you want to put the bub down in the seat. You can loosen it on one side but it is not good enough.
ii) Infant seat padding: The padding makes it so narrow that the bub feels like squashed rather than properly supported from the sides. Also, the infant padding is installed in such a manner that the bub's chin touches his chest in each instance. We are in constant fear that his neck is not adequately supported and the matter of fact is that we are somewhat afraid driving around with our child which kind of negates the benefit of having a car seat.
iii) ISOFIX: I shouldn't say anymore! The thread tells enough about it. I have taken the verdict of 2 different professional installer and they strongly discourage using the ISOFIX or ISOGO as it fails to provide adequate support in installation. A complete marketing hoax.
I have taken the car seat (whilst being installed) to have inspected, to the store I purchased it from but they will not allow any exchange or refunds now. It is like $600 being flushed into the toilet. A very unhappy consumer who was able to use the car seat twice in the last 4 weeks!!!
Worst carseat !!! – Poor poor poor, the clip jams and its hard to lock and to unlock, getting my son in and out of it quickly is a punish- usability is a fail. As it is in the rear facing position there is this uncovered plastic base against the seat which also happens to be what your childs feet touch???? It looks unfinished and cheap, it was prifessionally… Read more
installed by baby bunting so they say thats how it is... All care taken no responsibility accepted, of course the sales person assures you it is the best money can buy. An almost $600 car seat - very ordinary.
Iso faux is a disaster – Like many others on this forum we purchased this seat because of the Isofix capability which we were told at time of sale was superior to traditional seat belt based fastening. I don't know who designed the Isofix on this seat, but it definitely feels like an afterthought or amendment to the original design. The rear facing configuration is also a… Read more
lesson in design mediocrity, setting the installer up to fail.
To tension the Isofix straps so the buckles appear 'green' takes some serious effort as access to the buckles is severely obstructed by the lower seat design. If you manage to fasten both Isofix buckles to 'green' without abrasions from the jagged solid plastic base, you should consider a career in finger tutting.
Not happy! – We purchased 2 of the maxi cosi euros but less than 3 days after purchase we had to return one of them to the retailer who provided us with a new one. I am now going back tomorrow to return both car seats & change to another brand. After extensive research we chose the maxi cosi for safety, fabric & the isofix installation. The left shoulder… Read more
strap (when in rearward facing) does not tighten to the same resistance as the right side, leaving it loose and unsafe.
The isofix is not compatible with all vehicles which is the case for our vehicle. Even a licenced installer has advised not to use the isofix.
The only good thing I can say is I have had no trouble with the fabric. Being from North Queenslabd it's important to us to have a breathable fabric but not at the price of safety.
I would NOT recommend this car seat to anyone!
