I'm pretty sure they still have issues with this product. Gave my 2 border collies seriously bad diarrhea especially during the night. Took me 5 days (and little sleep) to work out that it was the food. Changed to My Dog wet food and problem gone. Took back to pet shop I bought it from and the lady was very defensive and told me I couldn't be… Read more
refunded (I hadn't asked at that point). She told me to write my name and number in a little pocket notebook. I also wrote what problem was. Please be careful with the MFM food. There's obviously still issues in the production process.
DO NOT FEED YOUR PETS THIS! My dogs developed sores on their belly and allergies, I thought it was so many different things taking a long time on a staged elimination diet, and as soon as this CRAP food was cut out, they were both better. My friends dog has been to the vets so many times with swelling and serious digestive issues including blood in the stool. once this food was eliminated there was a serious improvement. Choose something else.
Extremely dissapointed long time customer – Terrible product! I have been feeding my dog meals for mutts for at least 6 years everyday but this past couple of years her toilet has gotten worse and worse where it is black, mucusy and tar like consistency. She stopped going on heat for 2 years now and doubled if not tripled her intake of water, just recently I took another trip to the vet and… Read more
they did a blood test which showed extremely high iodine levels which is apparently extremely rare, I contacted mfm via phone and email to enquire about the levels of iodine to which I got no answers. I have taken my dog off the biscuits for the past 4 weeks and her iodine levels are normal, she has stopped drinking so much water, her toilet is still not great but hopefully on the mend and finally, just this week has come on heat. I am really upset I have trusted this brand now knowing this food has been causing her to be unwell for so long!
Burnt and no longer good quality – So relived to see these other reviews with the exact same issues! I had been using meals for mutts for years, but the recent 20kg bag looked burnt and smelt burnt. It was different and wasn’t right. Some kibble was almost black. My small dogs really didn’t want to eat it and after a while I felt bad trying to persist, so I purchased a different… Read more
brand. I had emailed the company to enquire if the recipe or process had changed and they made me feel crazy, by insisting absolutely nothing had changed. I’m not stupid and the food was definitely not the same. They asked me to send photos, so I did, and they didn’t even have the courtesy to reply.
MfM are going to go under. Supply issues aside, dismissing mould in their food is atrocious business practice – This bag was not part of the recall, however found mould throughout the entire bag. I emptied this bag into an air tight container one evening prior to bin day, and threw out the bag as I always do. Both my dogs started getting gastro like symptoms and I could not for the life of me understand how, as they had not gone out that week. 6 days of… Read more
Chicken and Rice + a trip to the vet and medication for $250 sorted it out. As they got better, I decided to transition them back onto the kibble only to find mould in it.
Reached out to MfM, they washed their hands clean and said its not their problem as I had purchased 8 months ago and I no longer have the bag.
I have been a staunch supporter of MfM for the past 7 years, feeding all three of my dogs with their products. I have to buy 4-5 months worth of product at any given time due to the number of dogs I have, and their supply issues.
Poor form, and you wonder why people struggle to support Australian made.
Dodging nutritional questions – Some real shady behaviour going on over there. I've been trying to get the copper content of their brands but noone answers their phone and if they do respond to an email after multiple follow ups, there's no actual answer. (The four other brands I contacted gave it readily or came back to me once I found out. I've also found that they refused… Read more
to tell someone else their salt content and have dodged other nutritional questions. Really makes you wonder what they have to hide
Mould they ignore messages – I was once a lover of this product but my large bag has a 3 rd left I had been wondering why my dogs had gone off it and then vomiting later on . I had contacted them early on about the recall but they said my bag was fine not to worry this is NOT the case . I have tried messaging via Facebook and email a few times but there’s no care they just ignore Show details
Never again – I am all for supporting Australian companies but there has now been too many issues with Meals for Mutts. There was been way too many supply chain issues over the past 12 months and on top of that, we had bought one of the bags of food that was rampant with mould. There are far better products/companies out there.
Works well for my allergic dog – My allergic Labrador does exceptionally well on this food. Her stools are well formed and have very little odour, she doesn't fart, her coat is shiny and she's not itchy. Other foods make her itch and have soft smelly stools. MFM is highly digestible and you feed less than other brands which is excellent for cost effective. I couldn't give 5… Read more
stars because there was a recent manufacturing issue where the same food was packaged in lots of differently labelled bags and a whole batch had to be returned by my local independent pet shop. The communication, or lack thereof, by MFM was very disappointing. It seemed to me that I was an insignificant consumer in their eyes when I found the issue and raised it directly with MFM.
Great product – Our bully has a sensitive guts and when he started to lose weight and just look overall not good we talked to a vet, then switched to this brand, with the grain free hypo-allergenic option. Also had to go salmon due to protein sensitivity. We noticed very quickly how his coat and weight improved. And his overall mood. We also noticed he stopped… Read more
having runny poo. He has been eating this food for 4 years now and hasn't had a single issue since. 20kg bag is also a bonus as it lasts our 2 dogs just over a month.
**Bit sad now as petstock have just advised they no longer stock it and we were forced to buy a different brand (smaller bag, bigger price tag). I'm hoping my dog handles it okay until I can get an online order delivered as we live in a rural town.
Love this for my Mature Dog – My dogs anal gland were constantly full & blocked & vet told me to look at the food she was eating (needed to solidify her poo, to naturally clear her anal glands. We have used a few of the MFM- always consumed & the vet is appreciative to not have to manually clear the glands. I have noticed that its harder to buy lately which is concerning me Show details
Mouldy – Opened a brand new bag with a expiry date of February 2023 and it was covered in mould. Tried calling MFM no answer, left a message and email but have not heard back. Very disappointing Show details
