My Life Long Dream was Shattered!! – Well ever since I was a child, I dreamed of owning a Mercedes Benz. I never thought that this would be possible, but after retiring, I was able to make it work and in 2021 I purchased a Brand New Mercedes-Benz C300 Sedan. It included the Command Package, Edition C and Ceramic Paint Protection. For the last 15 years I have driven a variety of SUV's… Read more

(VW Tiguan - Kia Sportage - Hyundai ix35) but thought that the transition from an SUV to a Sedan would be an easy transition - This couldn't have been further from the truth!! I wasn't able to have a test drive due to Covid - I live in Rural Victoria about 400kms from the Dealership. The Dealership involved offered a buying experience that I had not experienced with any other Dealership - One that I guess I expected from Mercedes, but it was simply superb!! As I was driving my new car home (Approx. 400kms) the first thing that I noticed was just how low you actually sit in the drivers seat. It reminded me of the flintstones!! Not what I expected, but I thought that I would get used to it - but I didn't. I found that my right knee rested on part of the door that caused some pain, resulting in having to move my knee off the door on and off over the journey (I am 6 foot). I also noticed that the area for the drivers legs seemed more narrow than any other vehicle I had driven previously. Over the course of the next month I found myself trying to like this car, but it just didn't work for me. I was so disappointed.

The negatives for me were - Restricted leg room for the driver. Very low seating position making it a task for someone older to get in and out of the car. With the drivers seating position fully back, there was very little room in the back seat, behind the driver. The car seems to take up a lot of room for the motor (front end) which impacts in a negative way with what room is left for driver/passengers. The auto close boot sounds like something that you would expect from an EH Holden - very clunky and certainly not smooth at all. Run Flat tyres are terrible and contribute to the ride quality of this vehicle being below par.

The positives for me - The car is very well made inside and out. A number of advanced safety features. The paintwork is like silk (Due to the ceramic treatment)(Be Warned - With a Ceramic Finish, you are told not to use any touchless car wash).

I ended up selling my car back to the Dealership, and Yes, I lost money. I'm currently waiting for my new Hyundai Tuscon Highlander SUV, which I hope will solve most of the issues I had personally with the Mercedes.

I guess you could say - Dreams don't always come true ......

The MAIN Lesson that I learnt - TEST DRIVE BEFORE PURCHASE!!

  C300

Best motor vehicle ever – I’m not really a car person or enthusiast but after having this Mercedes Benz C300 for 10 months I so into this car. Everything about it is just class, performance and safety. I’ve done almost 30,000 km in this time and the car hasn’t missed a beat with anything. First service was at 20,000 km rather than 25,000 km- my choice. Cost was fair and… Read more

what I’d expect from a premium European brand. $380. Next one is about $600.

Surprisingly I have had really good mileage from the OEM run flats on the car- definitely at least another 10,000 km to go before considering replacing. 40,0000 km from original Tyres is pretty good in my books.

I have installed an aftermarket air filter from USA which gives it a nice sound and adds about another 10kw of power. Also have an aftermarket chip in it which is unbelievable to the performance. Of course MB dealers don’t like these things so I just take it off for servicing and they are none the wiser!

In summary, this car is awesome in every way possible. Swore I’d never own a black car but how could you resist? AMG package is fantastic.

Do yourself a favor and drive one ☝️ and negotiate a great deal... I did and haven’t regretted it for one second.
