Rock solid – The W202 c200 is easily the best small car of the 90's for reliability. Once considered the grandma car, this has been rebuked with the M111 2l 4cyl vvt engine at 130hp that gets better with age. Revvy, not nippy. After 25+ years, these are starting to be a classic Mercedes-Benz at last. I use mine everyday as my daily and it's both fun and… Read more

economical. Tilt and Slide Sunroof, electric EVERYTHING duelzone aircon (Denso unit) same as Toyota has NEVER not worked. I paid $1300 for mine 8yrs ago and never had an issue other than a MAF sensor go bad. (Still ran though). Good for 200kph, proven.

Perfect drive – My C200 is a great car, drives reliably and is very comfortable. Can have different modes depending on your preference (eco/comfort/sports). Great for families, fits my baby seat comfortably with room to spare! Show details

Surprisingly reliable and inexpensive to own, also with surprisingly good performance – My expectations of buying a 15 year old Mercedes were that it was going to be slow and expensive to own, but I have been surprised. Performance for a heavy 2.0-litre 4 cylinder is actually pretty good. It's usually quiet but when you need a bit of extra power it gets a bit noisy. The car has great brakes - they seem to defy the laws of… Read more

physics - it can brake very quickly but without causing discomfort to the driver and passengers.

It is comfortable but the steering is a little vague compared to our other similar-age BMW.

I think our car has a problem with the automatic transmission. It is a little reluctant to change up a gear under certain circumstances. This is a little annoying but isn't a major problem. The previous owner had receipts which showed they had recently serviced the transmission so I guess they were aware of the problem and a service didn't fix it and most likely the transmission needs repair or replacement which is not worth doing at this stage.

It was surprising to find some rust around the sunroof and on one of the doors. I'm not sure if this is common or whether this may be due to poor accident damage repairs as this car does show some evidence of having had some repair in the past.

Visibility is good although the A-pillars are quite wide and can get in the way.

The car has been very reliable for a 15+ year old car. The only issues we have had are the battery (normal with any car, but the Mercedes uses a large and expensive battery, and there is a complex process after replacing the battery to calibrate several systems) and the drag link (part of the steering system with ball joints that caused the steering to have a lot of play). There are some other minor issues like the rear wiper doesn't work which I tried to fix myself unsuccessfully.

The car came with a space saver spare but I was able to fit a full size wheel in its place.

Our model - a wagon - came with built-in child booster seats which are a handy feature. Luggage space is also good for a compact car and we have carried large objects including a single mattress.

Overall I would recommend considering the 202 series models, but I understand that the later models like ours are better as early models have issues with disintegrating wiring.

Just check the smile on my face – I bought this car with fear and trepidation because of cost if parts and the new technology that this car has. Well I am very happy and impressed with this so called old man car. In fact, I cannot wait to get home 700kms away to drive it. I can work on some parts. I love the solid little body. I love the cruise control. The only critism is… Read more

the seats which are rather hard on the derriere. But just try and wipe the smile off my face. Just you try.

Review: I have had it for a year and did an oil change. Easy to do. Just changed sparkplugs, also nice easy job. Still smiling

Safe and reliable – A good comfy roomy small family car that housed my wife & kids in a safe manner mechanically sound, easy to service plenty of parts available. Like most things that go round, regular servicing a must, 346000 KLM later was still going well and sold it on to a very happy party.  Show details

Great Car – Mercedes Benz C 2000 Elegance automatic transmission year1996. I bought this one for my neighbor for a bargain price. It turned out that he can't afford to pay me back, so I ended having the car instead. Car was not running for 5 months after I bought the car, the owner is not interested since she bought a new car. Gave it away in a small amount.… Read more

Purchased new battery and installed, car started and running. Ball joints failed the safety check, replaced and it is been running ever since. For a nearly 20 year old car, the ride comfort is hard to find. You can buy a 30,000 brand new car and the ride comfort is not even close. This car has service history and was owned by the same person since new. Paint job is not the best but the mechanicals, transmission, and engine condition are impressive for a car this age. Replaced transmission oil and filter, shifting is so smooth. Performance is hard to find for a stock standard car with no modifications. It is a heavy car but can do corners as well. Overall. Very happy.
