My husband and I travelled to Mercure Hotel, Carrara QLD on Sunday 11 November 2024 and we were advised after a lot of deliberation at the front desk that the camper van would not be able to be parked in the underground car park due to height restrictions (reception staff did not know whether the height was 2 metres or 2.2 metres). We were… Read more
instructed by Mercure Hotel, Carrara staff to park on the street (which is a public thoroughfare) and walk on the nature strip. Two steps on the nature strip and I fell into a very large, deep hole (major OH&S issue with no barrier around the hole although the nature strip was mowed weekly) and I broke my left foot (my podiatrist stated that if I was not fit that I would have broken both hips due to the impact to the hard ground). At breakfast on 12 November 2024, the Mercure Hotel Carrara manager sat with my husband and myself and told us in an open, honest and frank discussion that he had informed Gold Coast City Council of the large deep hole but maintenance workers had attended the property and could not locate the hole so left and there was ZERO follow up. Immediately after I fell, approximately three quarters of a cubic metre of soil was laid beside a fire hydrant which had not been maintained either as it was badly sinking. When you inspect the work schedules for Gold Coast City Council maintenance workers, they are constantly in Palm Meadows Drive, Carrara but totally ignore the nature strip which is a public thoroughfare outside Mercure Hotel Carrara. When I stated my case with Gold Coast City Council, they immediately shut me down and Mercure Hotel Carrara manager told us that he undertook a full OH&S audit of the property AFTER I broke my foot. Even though my husband and I both heard that the hole had been reported to Gold Coast City Council, QLD Ombudsman stated that he would not investigate the matter which is indicative of the lack of accountability and responsibility by Gold Coast City Council.. We no longer travel to the Gold Coast as I am an ADF female veteran of 20 years service with complex PTSD so this incident has left me deeply traumatised and I have permanent damage to my left foot as a result of inaction by Gold Coast City Council in maintenance of Palm Meadows Drive, Carrara QLD. On 11 November 2025, we returned to Mercure Hotel Carrara for a five night stay and the fol;lowing day, there was a burst water main near where I had fallen on the nature strip. The fire hydrant was still badly sunken and as this is reclaimed land, Gold Coast City Council maintenance workers are still ignoring the nature strip outside Mercure Hotel, Carrara which is a public thoroughfare for Mercure Hotel Carrara guests. SHAME SHAME SHAME TO GOLD COAST CITY COUNCIL AND MERCURE HOTEL, CARRARA.

Couldn't be more disappointed with our night's stay at this hotel. The Mercure brand is not top-of-the-tree within the Accor group's accommodation listings, but our room was really bad. We paid over AUD$320, including parking ($20 charge per night -… Read more
PLUS credit card fee!) for two people in a room with two single beds, and expected far far more. Pros: location. Cons: Entry reception area seating had table tops that looked like they badly needed a clean, or, dare I suggest it, replacement. Our room - single beds very small and narrow, really uncomfortable to sleep in. Bar fridge came complete without a single shelf, and marked door. Coffee, tea, and a jug to boil water in supplied - but not a cup or mug to drink it out of. The TV didn't work. The rating for our experience - 1.5 stars, tops.
Follow-up · In answer to 'readers' 'questions' to Product Review: I had no time to see if a manager was available as I was thankfully only there for one night and had to leave early in the morning. The check-out process was easy - hand over the room keys and leave. I didn't attempt to use the TV until check-out morning, to catch up with overnight news. I… Read more
Mercure Hotel Braddon ACT Very comfortable and well run. Excellent rooms and heritage style kept. Well done very impressive Show details
Mercure Hotel Canberra – To put it simply, I felt that it is better than many 5-star hotels that I stayed. I travelled to more than 70 countries in the world and stayed in many 5-star hotels in many parts of the world. If you are looking for swimming pool, gym, tennis court, etc., it doesn’t have those, but if you want comfortable, clean and quiet stay in a spacious… Read more
space, you can hardly find anything better than this. Beds are comfortable, study table is big, plenty of water flow in shower (which is big) at your desired temperature almost instantly, friendly service, and importantly for me, the get up is like where kings and queens would stay in the last century.
Mean Mercure/Accor – Although T's & C's state a fee will be charged for cancellation. The hotel kept the entire cost of the stay. ACCC says cases could be judged on individual circumstances and a small fee charged or even a credit voucher issued. There was no discussion in this case.Simply Too Bad So Sad. Be smart and book with a company that has more scruples and compassion they understand that sudden ill health is not planned.
Very overpriced poor standard – This property is very low standard. The photos on the web are nothing like the real life. Bathroom was putrid. White grout was dirt brown. Mild broken fittings etc. the restaurant was basic and the dinner menus was very limited. We were charged $265 an absolute ripoff
Mercure Doncaster Disgraceful – I was turned away with my 7yr old at the time of check-in by the manager named [Name Removed] ( the asian "guy" with fingernails that look like claws) at Mercure Doncaster because I could not pay the full bond amount which was NOT SPECIFIED anywhere in my reservation confirmation. I have been an accor member since 2019 and the behaviour from this… Read more
"manager" was very upsetting, offensive and unprofessional of him. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
