My son was enrolled in this service some time ago and I still check to see if practices have improved. When reviewing all feedback online, especially the google reviews, take a balanced approach. Look at both positive and negative reviews and consider the level of engagement to these responses. This will provide helpful insight and context. As always, making an informed decision upfront is the best way to avoid issues later.
Appalling. We engaged Meridian One to assist Year 10 and 11 Student. Marks went backwards. Listened in to a coaching session and i was like a teenage chat room. Do not waste your money.
Meridian’s business practices are highly questionable. They use pushy and misleading sales tactics to sign you up, making big promises about flexibility—including the ability to leave with one month’s notice—but when the time comes, they make it incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to do so. If they do they will offer a low settlement,… Read more
conditional upon signing a non-disclosure so that they don't receive bad reviews.
Despite their assurances, they refused to honor their commitment in our case and showed no genuine interest in resolving the matter fairly. The owner’s approach reflects a company that prioritizes profit over integrity, leaving customers trapped in an unfair situation.
If you’re considering using Meridian, proceed with extreme caution. Once they have your money, you’ll find they operate very differently from how they presented themselves initially. If you have any influence within your school, suggest they look at these reviews and reach out to those who've had experience. Meridian receives a lot of business via schools and it is a bad reflection on them when the endorse this type of organisation.
Blackmail into silence by Meridian One – Absolute Scam. They manipulate & intimidate customers with blackmail to withhold funds & pressure customers to sign silencing non disclosure agreements by refusing refunds. Coaches have no educational qualification in coaching or teaching, no Cert IV in training, no lifestyle or wellbeing training, are mostly international uni students on… Read more
minimum wage while the director reaps in the $$$ per 15min session. Mentors have no Working with children checks. The "coaching" is scripted & beyond basic eg, What were your goals last week? Did you achieve them? What are your goals this week? Mentors swap & change regularly & appear to not stay with the company for long. The refund policy is unethical & illegal. You pay $3500 & maximum you get back will be $1000 if you sign a NDA to never give feedback. Then they send a "mediator" after you (breaching your right to privacy by sharing your personal details) because you won't accept their blackmail attempts. Doesn't appear like a "independent non-bias" mediator to me..? They are in breech of of Consumer Law & The Right to freedom of opinion without interference. An ethical company that practices with integrity would not need to go to extreme measures of non disclosure documents & bias mediators to attempt to silence customers with blackmail & withholding deposits.
IT'S A SCAM – We got scammed $4495 Our son received only 4 x 15 minute calls weekly After that the Mentor never showed up or call Read this whirlpool forum; https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2783478
Be aware! – In our initial online meeting we advised Meridian One, that my son primarily needed help with Maths and Computer Science and they made no mention that there might be a problem with that. For the entire year, both subjects were in the list of available courses, but there was never a tutor available for Computer Science. Meridian One knew our… Read more
expectations when they took our money and then failed to meet them.
So this turned out to be very expensive for only a single subject and even for that subject, my son found that it did not help him much at all. It would have been much better value to pay a face to face tutor for an hour per week rather than the very short sessions that Meridian One provided.
I was very unhappy with the service so we started the cancellation procedure and despite the cancellation procedure never being finalised, and so never actually cancelled, they cut my sons access the service without alerting us and with almost half the year still paid for.
Meridian One failed my son and they failed us!
So in summary: • We got half the service we were expecting, having advised Meridian One of our expectations • The service was available for little more than half the time we paid for. • The service we did get, was of little benefit to our son. • Meridian One cut access to the service without alerting us. • Despite admitting that we were entitled to a refund, they refused to issue it and I suspect I will never see it.
EDIT: Meridian One is now offering to provide the refund but only if I remove my negative review. The thing is, although the service was for my son, I am not actually party to the contract so nothing I do or say has any bearing on the contract. So Meridian One are refusing to issue a refund that they are contractually obliged to pay because of something that the other party is not responsible for and has no control over! It is illegal for a company to pay for fake reviews and in my opinion, what they are doing is far worse. They are holding onto a customers deserved refund, in order to force the removal of negative reviews! Consumer Protection are already involved but now I shall be reporting them to the ACCC for review manipulation.
Also of concern, a number of individual tutors were tutoring many different subjects so I don’t know how much of an expert they could have been in all of them.
I've since looked at reviews of this company from their own employees on glasshouse.com.au and I am blown away by the poor reviews. How can they hope to get, and hold onto quality tutors if they treat their staff poorly.
Do you self a favour and read the reviews in the link below. You might have to create a free glasshouse account but I highly recommend doing so. www.glassdoor.com.au
