 AI reviews summary

Australia Wide First Aid receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, primarily driven by the quality of its instructors and the efficiency of its blended learning model. Participants frequently highlight the value of combining comprehensive online theory with focused, practical face-to-face sessions. While the vast majority of experiences are excellent, a small number of reviews identify inconsistencies in trainer conduct and venue quality at specific locations.

Pros
  • Expert Instructors: Trainers are frequently praised for being engaging, professional, and knowledgeable. Many users specifically value instructors with real-world backgrounds, such as ex-paramedics or military personnel, who provide authentic context and memorable life-saving tips.
  • Effective Blended Learning: The ability to complete theory and assessments online prior to the practical session is highly valued for saving time and allowing the in-person component to remain hands-on and concise.
  • Skill Confidence: Participants consistently report leaving the course feeling significantly more confident in their ability to perform CPR and first aid due to clear, "no-fluff" instructions and realistic practical scenarios.
  • Efficient Delivery: Courses are described as being "straight to the point," well-organised, and fast-paced without feeling rushed, making them ideal for those needing annual refreshers.
Cons
  • Trainer Inconsistency: While rare, some reports mention instructors being abrasive, demeaning, or "snappy" with students. These specific instances led to a stressful learning environment and a lack of confidence for affected participants.
  • Venue and Facility Issues: Isolated complaints identify issues with specific locations, including poor signage, uncomfortable temperatures (too cold or too warm), inadequate audio-visual equipment, and cramped or unpleasant-smelling rooms.
  • Administrative and Refund Delays: A few users reported significant frustrations with short-notice course cancellations and a slow, difficult process for obtaining refunds through the online system.
  • Session Logistics: Some participants noted that large class sizes occasionally led to excessive noise or limited access to equipment (such as dummies), which hindered the ability to hear instructions or practice effectively.
Verdict

Australia Wide First Aid is a highly recommended provider for those seeking efficient and practical life-saving training, particularly for experienced learners wanting a streamlined refresher. The quality of education is generally exceptional, though prospective students should be aware that the experience can vary slightly depending on the specific trainer and venue assigned.

I really enjoyed our class with our teacher and she was wonderful, I was nervous. There's a lot of things to remember that she made it easy for us to understand and get through the class and I was very impressed with her

I am a pretty sensitive person. But I’m sorry for this it drilled in more practical ways of approaching real life 110%. I was worried how I would keep my eyes open from being so jet lagged. But I’m sorry he was truly one of the best and I’ve been here before. I loved it and found I even did a lot better under pressure too, which is odd haha. He… Read more ·  1

was very to the point but kept it alive. He even supported me better when doing the cpr to how I could use more of my body weight. He has real knowledge and honestly so lucky. I got this man. So much I had to do recording cause I had never ever done such a good first aid session like this in a hot while. I love he took it serious and gave us more freedom but still helped us. It was just really really really good. Thankyou for making time to teach and share how in real life we don’t get so many mistakes. We got to start thinking alot more. Way to go!!!!! You’re amazing at what you do. Just stunned, by how much reasonated with me that I took home and that is so rare. Amazing work really. Thanks again and I hope we cross paths again in the future. Didn’t even catch his name.. ./

Parker was an amazing trainer. He speaks clearly, he is extremely knowledgable and even has a joke or two!!! This is my second time attending Australia Wide First Aid, both times with Parker as my instructor and I would rate him as the best teacher I've ever had. I also appreciate the same day certificate. Show reply

Unfortunately I DO NOT have raving reviews to share about this company at all. I have sectioned the comments for easier reading. 1. THE INSTRUCTOR My class instructor today was Memory, who right from the get-go stated that she was replacing another trainer at short notice. This undoubtably would be stressful, additional to seeing such a… Read more

large class, something she was not prepared for as there were not enough dummies per participant. It was obvious she was agitated and stressed with the frequent periods of being quite snappy, demanding and abrasive when asked questions or when students were not performing up to "her level of expectation".

As a result the CPR practical was divided into two groups, with one as size of 2/3rds, and the remaining 1/3rd the size. While the larger of the two were in practical, Memory walked around scanning the group at times while focusing on her phone. Then the second group came up with more space for her to observe and target for errors which left a couple of students embarrassed as her instructions were confusing. The issue is she assumed too much of the students. Not checking in with each as she walked around on how they were going and personal experience level. Prior to commencing the CPR practical, she asked if anyone had NEVER done CPR before, with one student sharing this to the class. Memory clearly made an assumption in her comments to the class that "The rest of the students are experienced and returning each year, so they know how to do it right the first time!" In fact her assumptions were further from the truth when a small number of students had been absebt for many years - one having trained 20 years ago, and another over ten.

I was looking forward to upgrading my skills, yet instead faced some heavy reactions and demands, and witnessed others being singled out facing demands in a demeaning tone while pulling intense facial expressions to repeat and repeat again while the whole class was watching. It was humiliating to watch and experience, having left me thinking "who's turn next?" Even when I asked a student quietly beside me something in relation to the task, Memory would snap out and glare saying "Are you listening?" "You don't know what you're doing?" They weren't questions to provide support and encouragement but to humiliate to "shut the person up". Yet when previously asking her a question one would never know if she would give a scrunched up face with sharp comments like "What are you saying?" "Don't confuse me!" or give a lovely smile and funny joke.

Another issue was that she spoke very fast which made hearing and understanding instructions difficult to decipher leading to mistake being made by the participants.

Something usually helpful but left some feeling quite confused was her she emphasis on mental health and the importance of being mindful of our words and actions towards others and yet she was doing exactly the opposite.

I truely could not understand why this was happening as I have NEVER experienced any such behaviour before under any other training organisation. For this reason I just CANNOT risk returning to this organisation in case she is present again. Instead I will be returning to the professional organisations including St John Ambulance.

2. PREVIOUS CLIENT SHARED SIMILAR EXPERIENCE NINE MONTHS EARLIER w NO CHANGE I read a VERY similar experience that was shared NINE MONTHS AGO on this page by Salsbeel Nawaz followed by a response from the company saying they would investigate the matter. However the issue is still occurring. This can certainly make or break a person's confidence.

3. STUDY RESOURCES AND LOCATION The manual had many unedited errors. The Girl Guides hall in FTG was very chilly and dull to work in. It did not set the scene for a formal and comfortable training program like many other centres and organisations provide.

Also there was NO screen in the Girl Guides Hall for the material to be projected for view.

I won’t be booking with this company ever again and I am pretty sure this will be the same for a few others in this session too.

It was an unnecessary stressful few hours.

and an incredible depth of knowledge. What truly set him apart was the way he reinforced each learning point with real-world examples drawn from his extensive experience as a professional paramedic. These insights not only helped solidify the practical skills we were learning but also provided valuable context about how first aid is applied in real situations.

His enthusiastic, confident teaching style created a supportive environment where everyone felt comfortable asking questions and practising the techniques. I left the course feeling much more prepared and capable, and that is entirely due to Tony’s delivery and expertise.

I highly recommend this course—and especially Tony—to anyone looking to build their first aid skills with an instructor who brings genuine experience and passion to the classroom.

I’m not new to refreshing my CPR & First Aid training, and once again I learnt more. Our trainer today was practical, knowledgeable, and taught me a number of new things including: 106, 112. New methods for 2 different types of slings, and easy instruction to recall which was used for what. Square bandages were great to get to use for snake bites,… Read more ·  1

and method for knee bandaging was helpful too. It was great to refresh my knowledge, and I found the sum up, recaps, and runs through of trainer helpful for drawing these main life saving steps together, putting them into practise and keeping them at the forefront of our minds. Here is where we are. This is what we’re doing. Let’s run through from the beginning. Such a great tool, this repetitiveness to help trainees recall and become more comfortable and confident with the steps in amongst the plethora of information this courses involving giving in a few short hours. To the trainer: Thanks for all you taught me today at North Lakes! I got so much out of this CPR and First Aid refresher.

I enjoyed today's class however I felt there were far too many people. The noise was very loud, so loud infact I couldn't hear the AED. I much prefer the smaller classes that I have attended in the past. The course was a good refresher.

I did not mind the course itself but the trainer was terrible. She was incredibly vague in all of her content and on multiple occasions continued to ask the same question multiple times when no one had an answer, like she expected a different response. On the CPR test one of the students was continually getting something wrong and the trainer… Read more

walked up and bluntly told him he was doing it wrong and started snapping her fingers at him when he was trying the exercise again. She also singled out students multiple times for previous comments to questions that where wrong and made it out to be that they are st^pid for having that knowledge. The course itself was great and the e book was a wealth of knowledge.

The CPR course I attended today was very good. I enjoyed the way it was presented, our presenter Alan, managed to keep the audience entertained whilst delivering all the information clearly and concisely. a CPR/First Aid booklet for future reference but with the internet these days I guess we are saving the trees! The only real criticism was the venue - great for parking but the flooring in the hall was dusty cement, so having to lie down on it and then kneel in the practical I would definitely tell attendees to take a kneeling board!
