Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 – Our purchase of a new 2021 Landcruiser 70 Series complete with set of MT MTZ P3 looked great from the start. As ex farmers this was the 7th set of MT’s over many years. This set, ( total 8 tyres purchased) bought in 2021 have been a waste of our money and disappointment all round, expecting the same quality from previous sets. Touring on… Read more
bitumen, gravel (Gibb, Buntine Hwy,) typical off road travel while touring Australia (nearly 40yrs of off road experience) Tyres were poor wearing, after our first 10,000 K’s! Tyre shops said hard to balance, the compound cracking with noticeable fractures. We questioned perhaps a change in compound with them, tyres were run with the pressures MT recommended. Absolutely no joy dealing with them and not going to purchase them again. Pricing too is unjustifiable for the quality.
Tyres are worn out ! – Bought a set of 35x12.5 15 in 2011, well they’ve done 2 trips to Cape York, high country in Victoria (more times than I choose to remember) west coast of Tassie a couple of times, daily driven too, on my Jeep Wrangler now they are due to be replaced, what the hell only 105000 out of 5 tyres... the spare has about forty thousand on it as it has a… Read more
repair after some nice person tried to pinch it off the car @ the GP
Would highly recommended to anyone, if the new ones last as long, they’ll probably outlast me....
One hundred & five thousand & still legal just...
worst 4x4 tires ever – Horrid they slip, everywhere, Dirt Roads, SNow Ice Wet or muddy roads. super dangerous. luckily i was going mid speed on empty roads. okay if ur mud boggin but im not doing that. they are somewhat okay on rocks, but one of my broke and should have been a warrenty and they said no. even discoutn tires said they shoud replace. also waiting still for rebate 8 months after ai baught them Show details
285/75/17 MtZ P3 Mickey Thompson Tyres – Best Off Road tyre I have ever used. Love the thick Side walls. Third set of Mickey Thompson , The New P3 are much quieter on the Highway vs the old type. Would not settle for anything else. These tyres stick to Mud and wet roads like a dream. Would buy another set. Show details
No good in the wet – Just purchased a second hand Navara with new LT Mickey thompson's on it, absolutely frightened the life out of me first time in the wet, have NO grip whatsoever in the wet, would be the worst tyre I have ever had on a 4 x4 in almost 50 years of driving, these tyres should be tested by the authorities and the company closed down before some poor looses a life. Solid rant... Show details
Tyres for those that know four wheel driving – I bought my first MTZs about 6 years ago. Admittedly they weren't pushed hard and abused but everything I through at them they performed exceptionally. In three years I covered 110, 000ks and they still had about 10k of meat left on them. The road noise was negligible and stuck like poo on a bears fur. I had the 31 inch and they were exceptional.… Read more
They were on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. With the MTZs fitted it was driving sitting in a lounge chair.
I have now brought a Nissan Navara and the MTZs will be going on it.
If you want trouble free motoring go these tyres. They certainly are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
Dangerous in wet – Good solid tyre, done the gibb. I am a contractor great off road, however ive done 32000km and their is only 8mm left. These are the most dangerous tyre ive ever had, Now they are worn. Four wheel drifts across road at 90kph. I am taking them off, disappointing when they are not worn out. I have driven over 1.5 million km, you can take this review to the bank. Show details
Great tyre – I have had a full set of 5 Mickey Thompson MTZ's for 5 months and they are great, the size is 285/75/16 and whether it is in mud, sand or bitumen they perform, I have also had these tyres on another vehicle and I put a tree root into the side wall of two tyres, neither tyre popped all it did was split the top layer of the side rubber but the side wall had not been punctured so the strength of them is second to none. MTZ Mickey Thompson Muddies – Just purchased a set of these, 265 70 17 on a 07 hilux they are excellent tyres with very little road noise when new. Had a set of Maxxis bighorn 764 muddies and have only done 7500km and their noisy as hell, they are an excellent tyre for the price but can't put up with the road noise (bighorn 762 seem to be a lot less noisy). Have had bfg's… Read more
muddies and MT mtz's in the past.
Ps - after 50,000km still 40% tread but getting noisy especially at 90km/h.
Have now done 65000 km still 20% tread on them but noisy as hell.
I'll be buying the Kelly TSR tyres soon, USA made on a Goodyear duratrak carcass.
Best tire I've ever owned! – My first set of the original MTZ lasted me almost 3 years. Used them till they showed cords! Smooth, quite, great on and off road. Liked them so much I just dropped almost 1400 on another set. They arrived today!! Yet, when I open the wrappers they were the MTZ P3. The second gen. Close in appearance and supposedly an improved product! Fingers crossed! Show details
Good looking & Capable Mud Terrain Tyres! – One of the best looking and capable Mud Terrain tyres, I've previously owned BFG Mud Terrain's which I liked, then went to MT MTZ's I must admit they are a bit on the pricey side but still would recommend them if money was not too much of a concern and looks and capability were important features. Really grips road & rocks well. Not much to not… Read more
like about the MTZ, they are a mud terrain so like all mud terrain tyres they are somewhat soft but that is the nature of the beast, you'll get that with other mud terrains ie; BFG's, Goodyear, etc.
Disappointing – MTZ s where on a new off road van i purchased. After the Tanami , Gibb and Darwin I have blown one , and another has developed a 35 mm split in the wall. We ran on 28 psi in the desert and 41 psi on the hard.. No evidence of side wall contact and split looks like stress failure. Have done 17000 km and wear would be about 40 percent so all in all a disappointing product that is anything but cheap! Show details
Great All Round Tyres – I have done 50K on my MTZ's so far on my 07 Hilux (80% hw 20% off road) and they capable on road and excellent off road, especially if aired down. I got them to not have to winch myself out of a couple of really boggy sections of my bottom farm paddocks during winter, not once in two winters, in fact I haven't had to use the winch for recovery… Read more
since I put them on.
They do need to be rotated correctly, not just front to rear, every 10k, otherwise the outer tread lugs will wear unevenly and chop out with an increase in road noise, (my fault but lesson learnt) but I reckon that there is another 50k left in them.
I will be putting them on again. Great value tyres !

Rubbish – Expensive ,noisy and due to hard compound super slippery in wet. I won't let the wife drive in rain. Chip like crazy only have about 20 % left on the MTZ's baja's and they are still chipping. I always run correct tyre pressures. Also tyres are scalping bad I was told by Micky Thomson dealer yeah they that.! That's where every 2nd block where's… Read more
twice as bad. Balance and alignment every 5k. Mine are... 315x70x17r. (35in). Got them to try something different.as I always do. Worst I've had yet. Look aggressive. 45,000 so far about 15-20% left. I est 60k
Best Muddies – I am now on my second set of MTZ's and love the way they drive and handle. I've had BFG's and Bridgestones both were ok but the Mickies are just in another league above them. They are the first set of muddies I have worn out as the ones I have used before usually get so noisy from heal and toe even with rotations that I take them off long before… Read more
they wear out but these Mickey's were great. Handling, grip and wear 58,000ks with first set and still some tread on them. Bit of noise but quiter than the others I have tried. Keep rotating them and they will be fine.
MTZ Mickey Thompson – These tyre I brought about 7 weeks ago I traded my new bf goodrich mud klaw ,the new tread pattern. These have been a night mare to ride on wear was unbelivable 15000klms and they were chopping road slapping. I have always had bf goodies but now Mickey Thompson has won me over. Road nosie is not there , handles in wet dry dirt n mud, just cannot belive how quiet for a mtz tyre they are Show reply
Excellent – I have used BFG and Goodyear M/T prior to these and think these are the best. I will buy these again and recommend them to anyone looking for a very good mud tyre. Excellent offroad tyre and suprisingly good on road, especially in the wet (when compared to other mud tyres) Good milage, have 45000+kms out of set already (on 06 HiLux SR5) and still… Read more
got plenty of life left. They are a bit noisy on road, but no worse than other M/T and better than BFG or Goodyear tyres i had previously.
Good – I run these on my Toyota 4runner in the 35x12.5R15's. Great tyres. They don't work well in sand, but all other surfaces including wet tarmac they handle great. Personally I'd go with 10" wide rims as my 8" wide rims with minimal weight from my 4runner make it so I can't inflate the tyres more then 28psi without them ballooning and causing middle… Read more
tread ware. With wider rims the ballooning would not be a problem. Great tyres, and probably well worth the cash. Good mud and rock tread. Decent mileage. Side tread. Tough sidewalls. Good on wet roads. Great on gravel roads. Huge range of sizes to select from Expensive. Not so good in sand.
Excellent – buy em you cant go wrong i will never run another tyre as long as my bum points to the ground living in tassie you need a tyre that grips and grip these tyres do on road off road wet or dry best tyre i have run loves the mud even in the soft sand which i was suprised about as most other mudders hate sand i have got 80,000 km so far and they still… Read more
going strong no wounder they come with a 90,000km gaurantee little bit noisey but not the worst by far
