Designed to be faulty – I originally got the first Surface when it came out, and upgraded to a Surface Pro 4 after a few years. Unfortunately, these devices are not designed to last. When I first bought my Surface Pro 4, various issues began to “surface” within only a few months. Hardware issues, overheating, touchscreen failure, battery problems, the list goes on. I… Read more
eventually got it replaced by the retailer I purchased it from. It’s only been a year with the new device, and now the Surface is unusable. The screen flickers incessantly, and after a few minutes begins to ghost/freeze. Looking it up, this appears to be a common issue with the Surface Pro 4. Microsoft and the retailer want nothing to do with me as the device is just out of warranty. Would never buy a Surface device again.
Have to replace for a second time – My first device within a year began to have a hardware issue which they call "ghost touch". Now this replacement has another irreparable hardware issue - screen flickering. Waste of money. Show details
Worst Laptop – I purchased my surface pro a year ago and has been plagued with problems. The charging port didn't work on certain chargers for no reason, it constantly deletes my word documents for no reason. The facial recognition has never worked and the entire laptop is slow and rubbish. Better off buying a macbook or something reliable Show details

Brilliant for work or home, super fast and easy to use – I have a Surface Pro 4 for work so decided to upgrade my HP Laptop at home to a Surface Pro 4 so I could seamlessly go between work and home on similar devices. I was hesitant to get the Surface Pro 4 but the screen resolution and battery life were second to none. I use Corel Premium Pro video editing for a 360° video camera plus a couple of… Read more
FHD adventure cameras and a Mirrorless Canon EOS so I loved the Pro 4 screen resolution. I did read a review about light reflections but I've experienced none of these when editing. The Surface Pro is just superb for the high quality but still amateur video editing I do.
The battery life is simply excellent and I can go for a full day on a single charge, however, if I'm editing I'll always use 240v power.
I don't use the case keyboard but purchased the Microsoft Wireless Fingerprint aluminium keyboard.
I also use Microsoft's Wireless Display adaptor and it is excellent to cast the Pro 4 to a flat screen TV
All in all, I'm more than happy with my Surface Pro 4.
The only con I have is related to the Microsoft Store for App, as there are not many, NOT many at all.
Love my surface – Absolutely could not live without my Surface. After the initial RT surface experience, was a little reluctant to try another one. Ended up getting one because there was simply nothing else out there that offered the handwriting experience the Surface did. Turns out best machine i ever had. The keyboard, though small, is a surprising delight to… Read more
type on. Unit is small and easy to travel with and the handwriting experience on it is superior to everything. Pen is comfortable and not at all clacky,
It does get a little unresponsive if the screen is dirty, which is a constant problem when doing a lot of handwriting. a damp cloth fixes it just fine though, you don't even need to spend money on cleaners.
Has a Usb input, and although i would love a second one, one is much better than none and also has a micro SD slot, which allows you to double (or more) your hard drive space.
Even for an i5 with small ram, it is super fast. even heavy programs like Photoshop open amazingly quick - in fact more quickly than on my i7 notebook which has 16gb of ram
The only single gripe i have about it is the stupid recharger port. It is a big improvement on the original ones, but still very annoying and expensive to replace.
No faults - great device that bridges the gap between tablet and laptop perfectly – We have had three (3) surface tablets, and before the Surface Pro 4, they were always more 'tablet' than laptop - that was mostly down to the OS, but also the keyboard/screen in a way. This tablet is light-weight and powerful enough to do everything I want it to do, so it can go almost anywhere, including places when a laptop and its… Read more
weight/bulk would be a turn-off.
Being full Windows 10 means I've got access to all the software that I could want - and with office installed it is pretty much everything I'd want from my laptop or desktop, except for gaming or heavy lifting, like video-editing.
Not much bad to be said from my point of view - the MS support has been fine in the occasions that I've dealt with them, and often if you work out what you want with the online chat people, a tweet can help resolve the issue just the same.
I'll be using this tablet for a few years yet, and yes I have recommended it to family and friends - some of which have followed the recommendation and are also happy users.

this very light, and l like it very much – Use it very well, i like it and the picture quality of this laptop is what you would expect from an $1800 dollar laptop. Clearity is good. Using it as a second laptop in my bed room. We are moving from a really old lcd laptop to this beauty so its a very big upgrade for us. Show details
Best decision of my life – All I can say I have made best decision of my life. I was struggling to get a balance with laptop and tablet. This device have solved my both problems and I can do my work and surf internet with ease. I would like to recommend to anyone who is looking for a hybrid device. Show details
Perfect tablet – It has the convenience of a tablet but run really fast, with the keyboard, it transform into a laptop. It is perfect for students to use when going to uni. You can utilize the pen and write lecture notes or type. Take best advantage of the loghtweight and convenience design without sacrificing the speed. Show details

Expensive Paperweight – At 23 months of age my Surface Pro 4 started to have problems. The cursor would lock up and the only way to get it to move was to turn the Surface Pro off and restart. My son contacted Microsoft and they tested the Surface Pro remotely and said there wasn't anything wrong with it, however I am still having problems. We tried different keyboards… Read more
etc nothing worked. Now I have difficulty turning it on, sometimes it takes a while before it will come on. I asked Microsoft it I could get it repaired and they offered me a refurbished unit for $650, no thanks. As it turns out it cost me $700 a year for nearly 2 years of use of my Surface Pro. I won't be purchasing another one that's for sure. My Surface Pro was just for my own personal use.
Great machine...suffered the same failure as so many others...do not buy – The surface was great...served me well in my business and very professional and wieldy. The last week I went to turn it on...no go...googled...looks like im not the only one. Contacted MS...tough buddy its a 3...despite the fact I looked after it...spotless in a heavy duty case. DO NOT PURCHASE A SURFACE PRO...they are a time bomb waiting to happen. Now I have to lodge a case with fair trading because its a common fault. Show details
Flcikering Screen - Acknowledged Hardware Fault but won't replace – At its face value, it appeared to be a high end product and I bought it, expecting that it would have a similar shelf life to comparable products, but a little over my warrant period, the screen started flickering and later I discovered they have extended the warranty but I'm 20 days over, so I have a very expensive brick. I wouldn't recommend the product to anyone who is after a reliable product that you want to last more than a year. Show details

not to my expectations – well, let's say the surface pro looks good and says its all good but I have one and I say it's not worth it gets very laggy and its had so many errors before that I actually had to replace a new one when watching videos it cant load HD quality without waiting for 5 minutes. it certainly didn't reach my expectations I have to say that my hp computer was better than this. it's just not worth $1800. Sent back 3 times for same issue – Worst computer I have ever owned. This is my secondary computer for when I travel for work. It has been replaced 3 times for the same issue in a 3 month period (wont turn on). Now having the same issue again, yes that's 4 times now. Warranty has expired and I am expected to pay $600 for a replacement. This price may sound ok for a replacement but… Read more
I have been through 4 of these, each only lasting 4-6hrs of usage.
Support pretty poor, sent through to the US call centre after waiting 30 min on hold.
I have honestly spend more time setting up each computer and then talking to Microsoft Support then I have had usage.
Would score 0 -5 if I could.
Absolute Garbage – Omg, to put it simply its a waste of money. For $1600 AU I was expecting a great laptop but instead i was met with this pice of crap that offers a 4k screen but cant run a 1080p video without crashing. Gaming lol waste of time, Cant run Warframe lowest settings 800x900 resolution above 30 FPS. Glitches, A whole universe of glitches - Black… Read more

overall my gaming pc that cost the same as my surface pro absolutly destroys it in terms of everything.

Gaming pc same price - Max settings 1920x1080 200 fps
Slim and light, very portable – Great screen displays and good for working with microsoft office. Slim and light with stylish design. Used with surface keyboard it's perfect for it's price, but unstable and frequently dropped screenside down without resistance. Face authentication feature very helpful and distinctive. Thankful for the SD card reader that is a great inclusion. Show details
Very light and slim – I like the slimness of this. Good clear screen. Good picture quality..Easy to use. I love the very slim keypad as well that easily clips on when I want to use it. Worked really well in the beginning. I had it for over 2 years and then had problems updating. The whole screen doubled in size and even Microsoft could not figure out how to fix it. Sometimes it would freeze for no reason. So had to get a new one. Show details
Can't Live Without It - 5 Stars – Currently typing the review on my surface pro 4, has been extremely reliable and useful for me whilst conducting business and leisure activities. Would highly recommend getting the keyboard attachment with it. Don't hesitate getting the older model because it is a bargain at the marked down prices. Enjoy! Cheers Show details
Perfect uni companion – Used mainly for uni. Good tablet/laptop (when used with type keyboard). Whilst Microsoft Edge was good for note taking on lecture notes, third party paid app Drawboard seems to be a better choice. Processor was good enough to handle multiple lecture notes opened on the Drawboard app, i.e. lecture notes from week 1 to 12 with an average of 80… Read more
slides per week. Battery life however, could be a lot better with an average life of 5 hours (battery saver mode). This means that you'd have to the charger handy for a full day of uni.
Too expensive for what you get out – The sound would not work and the key board would disconnect frequently. Within 4 months of owning my surface the usb and sd card reader died and the headphone jack works when it wants to. In my opinion, this this is the worst personal computer I have ever owned, I wish I just kept my MacBook. Show details
Not perfect but gets the work done – Bought the surface pro for school since we have upgraded from iPads, personally I don’t think it was a smart upgrade especially at that price. The surface is hard to use at first and can be a bit dodgy at times. The battery will just last me the school day. But overall it can do many important things that an iPad couldn’t. Show details
Perfect laptop – I purchased my Surface from the Microsoft website. It was one of the best purchases I have probably done so far. Surface is easy to carry, fast to react, and the voice quality for watching movies is awesome, too. I would have bought one with a higher RAM if I could afford it. But this is perfect anyway. Great Look! – the surface pro 4 has a great look, and is easy to fit in your bag. It is great for school. The price is a bit expensive for the product. The kickstand doesn't feel that strong, and could break in the next couple of years. I would recommend this product. Show details
Very mobile and smooth to use – Love the keyboard, easy to use. Normally i don't like to use laptop keyboards. The startup is very quick which is a bonus when with students out and about. touch screen is very responsive. Battery life is very good also. Nothing to complain about so far, this is my first one, i have always used a laptop for travel. Show details
Disappointed again – Took a chance on the Pro 4, after my Pro 3 only lasted a few months and totally died. Well, hardly used, 6 month old, $2K Pro 4 just died. Of course, guaranteed for 12 months, but will be replaced by a refurbished one from Solvup, through JB HiFi. Fair?? No way!! Sunstandard product, top price, now to be replaced by a second hand product!… Read more
disgusted in the product, but more disgusted in them replacing my hardly used Pro for a refurbished on. Even paid for two extra years guarantee and lucky me! Their faulty product will be replaced by by someone else’s broken tablet which has been repaired just for me! Glad I paid $2000 for this piece of technology.
The ultimate balance of tablet/laptop – I was in the market for a super portable computer that had a full version of windows but had the portability of a laptop and this was definitely the best balance I've found. It's a bit annoying that the keyboard does not come included and is an additional purchase (of like $100+) but it's definitely worth it. 1yr on the battery still lasts an… Read more
entire 9hr plane trip (on battery saver mode) watching movies/series non stop.
Also a lot of people don't realise but it also has a micro-SD card slot tucked in the back that takes up to 200gb cards so for those worried about buying a smaller SSD version...all good ;)
IT'S A BUY!!
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 school package - hasn't lived up to the hype – The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is recommended by the school for its BYOD program. The base purchase price isn't too bad, but inflated rapidly when adding things like keyboard, protective case, screen protector and technical support. Performance was adequate for school and normal home use. But the whole thing came to a screeching halt at the… Read more
eight-month mark when the Surface refused to start up one day and remained inert. The extra-cost technical help service proved to be ineffective as they were using information from the Microsoft technical site, which is accessible to anyone with Google skills. So back to the store the device went and they repeated every step that I had already tried twice to revive the Surface. So now it goes back to Microsoft. I may or may not see it again.
The perfect laptop! – The Surface Pro4 is fast, reliable and easy to use for the baby boomer generation. My son also loves it. The pen is my favourite accessory, and with Microsoft Staff Pad, nothing is better for a musician. I have used many music writing programs but nothing comes even close to staff pad and Surface Pro4 pen. Any problems and the Microsoft store gives great personal support or training. A wonderful product. Thanks Microsoft. Show details
Love it – Better than anything out there. Great as a book, great as a PC. Can't fault it. Microsoft is back!! I needed something light but can be used for work and this is such a great solution. I take it on holiday with me. I don't know how I lived without it. Show details
2 in 1 product – I was looking for a tablet laptop and it serves the purpose very well. A bit costly compared to other laptops but I scored a good deal on ebay. Only downside is the battery backup compared to a macbook air which has been fixed in the newer model. The screen resolution and clarity is just amazing and beats any macbooks out there. Show details
It's ok, lucky it comes with a warranty – I like the Surface, it's a great idea and I get a lot of good use out of it. I use it daily at uni to take notes directly into PDF's with the surface pen. The problem is, this is the third one. I bought it, had to replace it because the touch screen wouldn't work, then had to replace the new one because the pen wouldn't work (obviously after… Read more
trying other pens). Now on the third one, it seems fine. Just inconvenient having to get it replaced all the time. 'Aint nobody got time fo that'.
Lucky Microsoft do a new for old replacement, otherwise this would be a much angrier review.
Best at home in the garbage! – Problems from the start and useless support from Microsoft. Buyers beware they are big on selling but if you require assistance who do you Call? Simply the worst purchase of tech I have ever made and I was there for the release of the first PC. It's now 2017 and unbelievable how arrogant this organisation are. Get your tech elsewhere people! Still has bugs that haven't been ironed out – The good: Nice form factor, good processing power. Quality look and feel. The bad: One of the bugs that hasn't been fixed is the power and sleep setting, which keeps resetting to default. This results in the screen locking after 10 minutes. None of the fixes can address it. Secondly, the drivers currently available for multi screen support don't allow me to utilise the screen fully. Get a Dell XPS13 and enjoy double the battery life. Do not buy! Constantly breaks, will not last – This product has been terrible since day one, even though it never leaves the desk in my house. completely bricked. All within 1 1/2 years.
In addition, the microsoft claims i cannot even retrieve my own harddrive data, i must pay them 200 dollars to retrieve the data off my broken Surface.
I will never buy such a terrible product again, and will make sure others know my terrible experience with Surface's. I wanted to like this tablet, but it is horribly built and I wasted a lot of money on it.
perfect product – This is a good product. I bought this for studying purpose. it's small, light weight. I can either use with touch screen or portable keyboard. It's really powerfull and quiet while running. I haven't had any trouble with the heat problem. This laptop is an ideal product for student or office worker. Show details
