Miele G 4920 SC BRWS (Brilliant White, with Cutlery Tray) Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: G4920SCBRWSWhich is the better dishwasher,G4920UCLST or GS100SCU?
I dont know as have not had the other model!
Got the dishwasher installed yesterday. It has very strong plastic smell on the top cover. When it is working, the heat from the back makes it worse. Anyone knows if the smell dissipate shortly or just because of poor built quality due to using cheap plastic which cannot stand the heat.
Yes it does go away, gradually
You have had the same problem?
All dishwashers are wrapped in a sound blanket felt like material. Under this is a bitume coating this is the main sound deadening stage yes it will lesson as the heat of main wash final rinse push out what bitume is made of think of it as new car smell whithout petroleum products you would not have plastic to build a dishwaser
How come my miele G4920sc does not dry my dishes? Brand new first wash and wet dishes!!!!
I spent about 2 days reading the instructions before I used the dishwasher. The booklet stressed very strongly that rinse aid must be used. So I have been doing so even though I was skeptical. I don't usually empty the dishwasher immediately because the dishes are too hot, but by the time they cool down, by and large the dishes have been dry enough to put away without additional drying.
I have just had a Miele 4920 dishwasher delivered this morning. I'm a woman in her sixties that now has the afore mentioned item standing in the middle of her kitchen. I had paid for installation but have a problem with height, therefore my question is can the top be removed to allow the dishwasher to fit? At the moment I'm stuck with two dishwashers. Thank you.
Hi Sal B. I suggest you ring Miele, you'll find their number online. As I'm just a satisfied customer I really can't answer this question. I've found Miele customer service phone operators very helpful and I'm sure they'll try to solve your problem.
yes the lid comes off with the removal of 2 screws at the front, above where the door closes, to give a minimum height of 805-810mm. lower than any old model brand. you probably should have been advised to get a U model as they have no lid and are easier to install in that the back feet are adjustable from the front with a T20 torque driver. everything in modern German dishwashers is adjusted with a T20.
The Sensor wash is the best cycle, it has a facility that works out how grotty the dishes are and modifies the cycle accordingly, Scottish or Texas. Most modern dishwashers have greater difficulty drying because of the "save the whales" use less energy requirement. The short quick cycles will never dry well and you must use rinse aid no matter what. I always shout myself famous brand detergent, Finish is best, consumer magazine confirms, tablets are the most expensive detergent known to man and the incorporated rinse aid comes out at an inappropriate time depending on the cycle selected so you must, must ! use rinse aid in the machine, home brand/no name is fine at $2.50 per bottle whereas Finish is like $12 / bottle. It is really just a surface tension modifier so paying big bucks for rinse aid is a waste. If you use tablets, it is very difficult to cut one in half with a hack saw for a light wash, so have tablets and powder on hand depending on the cycle and the load but always, always use rinse aid in the machine and use the sensor wash. In the manual it tells you how to modify the sensor wash in the programmable functions to be more heavy duty if required, rarely necessary. After 30 years selling appliances it is rarely the dishwasher's fault when it is a Miele even if it is a Czeck made model. Same components with German engineers overseeing with Czeck labourers assembling, still so fabulous.
I have just purchased this dishwasher. Plus a 2kg box of salt balls. How many salt balls do I need to use??
As far as I know in Australia there is no need to add salt but double check with Miele, you'll find their number online. I've not used salt in any of my dishwashers
all you require is pool salt, sold at Bunning for $5 for 15 KGs. it has to be rock salt definitely not Saxa table salt. no salt is ok but in hard water areas so much better. The salt is used to regenerate the water softener which makes for the glass ware not going all milky looking after time. Sensor wash gentle with salt looks after my crystal glasses no problem and long term. You can buy Miele salt and waste money for the snob value or get pool salt. salt is hygroscopic so it absorbs water from the atmosphere so after using the approx 1 kg you need for the dishwasher, you will end up with a Lot's wife pillar of salt and water mess so see if you an find a friend with a saltwater pool and get 1 kg from them. no salt is also ok but you are missing the benefit of the water softener you have paid for in your Miele purchase price, a bit of a shame if you ask me.
How do I set the dishwasher to do a 30 minute cycle?
Set gentle 45 degree cycle and press fast button. My machine takes 37 min on this setting.
How well does 45° clean or sterilize your dishes? I would be suspicious. A repair man told me that people who use under 60° usually have drain problems due to oil/fat/gunk build up in the dishwasher outlet hose and their pipes. Just a thought.
You can't expect sterilisation in a 30 minute type cycle, it is a glorified rinse and it will not dry well. Put vinegar in the rinse aid dispenser this will go a long way the purify dishes, make sure it's acidity is not above Miele recommended requirements as it will damage the unit. Even if you plumb the dishwasher to hot water the maximum inlet temp allowed is 60 Degree C. all the manufacturers have realised incoming water temps above 60 Deg C give a worse wash result due to proteins being cooked on with the initial hot hot water intake. Miele is so quiet, let it take it's time to do a proper wash. The sensor wash takes longer but the cost is minimal as it is the recirculating pump at 300 watts approx not excess heating or water usage, just passes of water over the crockery, really so cheap over a 10 plus year old, old technology dishwasher. The Germas are super diligent with water and energy use but they won't accept unclean plates, it is so not German !
