Miele G 4930 SC CLST (CleanSteel, Freestanding)

A pretty good dishwasher during its time, but my god - the sales pitch telling us it will last for 20 years and why we were paying a premium. Have always bought mid branded white goods, many still running after 20 years, but this little Miele Dishwasher - caput after only 6 years! An update on my review - sometimes you pay a premium for good old… Read more
fashion customer service - and that is what I recieved. Miele was empathetic to my issues, came up with a plan to resolve it and now my Miele dishwasher is cleaning my plates again.
Four year old dishwasher has developed rust on the stainless steel door. Have used Miele products: oven, steam ovens, washing machines, coffee machine, for over 20 years and have not had a problem. However, I believe the company now uses cheap stainless steel. We were told that any visits and/or replacements would be at our costs. I will not be purchasing Miele products again.
Expensive Miele “Dudwasher” – I purchased this dishwasher from a Good Guys store in Perth in April 2019. We used the machine a few times a week and always scraped the dishes before loading. The machine is not even 3 years old and is now displaying an F78 error code - apparently some issue related to the pump. I attempted to get Miele to come out and look at the machine, but… Read more
their phone line was useless and their ‘self service’ website could only get me an appointment in two weeks time with a vague ‘8am to 5pm’ time slot.
I managed to get a local dishwasher repair company to look at the machine. They couldn’t find anything obviously wrong so their conclusion was that the logic board is likely fried - and will cost upwards of $800 to fix.
I thought Miele were meant to be a premium brand and their machines expected to last for decades. Literally the sales pitch in the shop - “you pay more, but they last much longer”
You get what you pay for, but not in this case it seems. I will be giving Miele products a miss in future.

Most unreliable dishwasher ever owned – Purchased 2.5 years ago for the "quality" supposedly associated with Miele. It runs very quiet and cleans very well. When it is working. Initially we were very happy with the choice. We've have had many F78 errors that stop it in its tracks. I go through the procedure on Miele web site - remove valve, clear impeller, 70C water+ rinse aid, wait,… Read more
reassemble etc. Tedious to do, but can usually rectify the fault. One year ago I logged a service call as I could not get it going after an F78 error. Service appointments are weeks away from the problem date. I managed to get it working again before the service call, so cancelled the service. It was within the 2 year warranty period then. Have had more F78 errors since that I have been able to rectify. Just after Xmas with a house full of family visiting, another F78 error. Did the routine multiple times over a number of hours, then gave up and logged a service call. The Miele has served as very expensive draining rack for all of the hand washing the family have had to do over several days now. A couple of days ago when the machine had been sitting idle for a week or so (with the service call still several days away) I tried to run the dishwasher again. It worked first time. Worked for about 24 hours, then F78 again. Have tried multiple times since last night and it won't run. F78 error every time. Our ‘low quality’ $600 Euromaid before this Miele was noisy but ran without a hitch for about 12 years. I have had to push the service call back from 19 Jan as we now have a close contact in the house. Next available appointment is 1 February. Almost three more weeks of hand washing up using the Miele as a dish drainer. Have really had enough. We are considering sending it to the dump and purchasing something reliable despite the low age and cost of this machine. It is not worth persisting with.

Extremely poor afterservice – With only two people we use the dishwasher 2 or 3 times a week. Always scrap dishes before loading. This $1700 dishwasher is only 4.5 years old. Phoned Miele customer service - finally answered after 34 minutes and was told 'sorry, it didn't last as long as you though it should' and put me on hold for 52minutes. finally someone came back and… Read more
told me it requires a technician who can come at significant cost in two weeks time. There must be a lot of broken Miele dishwashers in Brisbane if a repair person cannot attend for two weeks. My last $600 dishlex lasted 18 years. Thought I'd upgrade this time to a 'better' machine. How wrong was I to spend so much money on Miele. Strongly recommend buying another other brand!

Fault after fault and you can't complain about the serive, there isn't any! – I had to wait weeks to get this dishwasher after purchacing it at the Perth Miele Store in Dec 19. It's not yet out of warrantee and I had three error messages, F17, F19 and now F70. All have had to do with the pump. Worse still, I have to take a day off work everytime I want someone to come and repair it ON WARRANTEE!!!!! Yes, you can be given a… Read more

Rest asured, my next kitchen appliance will NOT BE MIELE. In fact, my washer and dryer are Asko for that very reason. So far, nil issues. Not good customer service Miele. Get with the times and you might retain your customers.

Made in Czech Republic. Could be quieter – I’m putting my review here because Miele emailed me to advise they ‘moderated’ this verbatim review from going on their website. It lost a star for this. It’s made in the Czech Republic (not Germany). I found this dishwasher to be louder than expected and it lacked 60C programs. The freestanding lid also didn’t sit flat which was a bother to me.… Read more
The interior layout is good and cutlery draw is very useful for large amounts of cutlery. It cleans fairly well, with average drying performance. I returned this model and settled with a G7104.

Excellent cleaning - Poor drying – The dishwasher does an excellent job at cleaning the dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans whilst quiet too. However, it is extremely poor at drying the dishes, even after giving to a few hours with the door open/ closed a few hours after to help with the condensation. There are definitely better options out there and am disappointed expecting better given the brand and price @ $1700. Show details
Loved the dishwasher, non-existent support – Very happy with the dishwasher - it's quiet and cleans really well. Unfortunately after just over a year of use it stopped working. That didn't worry me as it's under warranty - these things happen. What is very disappointing is that when I called on Christmas Eve to book a technician to come out, the lady told me that the soonest anybody can… Read more
come out is in 4 weeks. Either they don't employ enough trades people or they have a huge amount of problems to fix. It was very insulting to be told that we are high priority. I'd hate to see how long it takes them to come out if you aren't a high priority. As we had 16 people coming for Christmas we went out and bought another dishwasher to get us through the long wait. 3 weeks down and we're still waiting for someone to come and fix it. Our Miele dryer has just broken - I sure won't be buying another Miele, and will never buy another Miele product again after this shocking service.

Total disappointment – This machine simply does not dry the dishes . It has a good energy rating which I can only assume is achieved by not having a drying element. crack the door open when the wash cycle is finished to stop the condensation - no difference. I would have purchased another model or brand of machine had the salesman advised the machine doesn't dry . I purchased this Miele based on my previous Miele dishwasher which was excellent - this latest machine cost $1399.00 and doesn't work as well as the base model LG I replaced. Miele Lasts ! – My last Miele dishwasher lasted 20 years and I never had a problem or had to call a repair man during those 20 years. The only thing my new dishwasher doesn’t have is a rinse only cycle. Show details · 1

Regret purchasing, will never buy another Miele product – Purchased January 2020. The machine stunk so bad when we first used it my wife wanted it out of the house. Then telephoned Miele customer care, they were aware of the problem in some machines and sent out some Miele Intense Clean for… Read more
us to use in the machine. The smell was reduced but remained and took about a month to be acceptable. Not at all good for a brand-new machine. We would have thrown it out of the house except for it washing very good - excellent. In April, less than 3 months old it started making loud banging sounds just before water drained out, when there was about I hour remaining in the wash program. At first, I thought it may have been baking dishes hitting each other due to the machine not being stacked correctly but this was not the case. We hoped it was a one-off occurrence, but it wasn't. It didn't happen every wash cycle and we thought if a service call is made it may not make the sound when the service man came. Also, the machine would need to run for about an hour to get to the time when the banging occurs. I decided to video record the sound when it occurred and made several recordings to gather evidence. I even ran the machine empty with nothing in it to prove that it was not stacked incorrectly. I recorded that also to show the serviceman. I made the booking for a service call online - very easy. The serviceman arrived the next week on time (between 8:30am - 12:00pm). The serviceman was very polite and professional. I played a few of the recordings including the recording of the empty machine. He admitted that he had never heard the sound before but said it may be a faulty drain pump. He had one in his vehicle and replaced the part while he was there. I said to the serviceman, I hope that this fixes it because I didn't want him coming back again trying to guess what was wrong with the machine. I also said that if Miele needs to come back it should be with a truck and a replacement machine. The serviceman agreed the machine would need to be replaced under warranty if the new drain pump didn't fix the problem. That night when the machine was used for the first time after the attempted repair the banging sound was worse! I have a recording of the sound again. I telephoned Miele the next morning telling them that the problem was still there and that I wanted the machine replaced. Their answer was no, we need to send a serviceman out to inspect the machine before we can replace it. I am now required to take another half day off work to meet with the serviceman. It is now Saturday night the repair was done Wednesday morning, four days ago. I have four new recordings of this faulty machine and will probably have more before the serviceman comes back next Wednesday. This has totally turned me off ever buying another Miele product. Built to last 20 YEARS is a Con! I would be happy to get just 10years. I was reluctant to write this review and probably would not have if Miele had just said they would replace the machine when I telephoned them on Thursday morning. When I finally get a replacement dishwasher it had better not stink or else, I will not accept it in my house. The ball is in you court Miele. How many more half days will I need to take off work?

Disappointed With Drying Performance – For the premium price paid and the brand reputation, I am disappointed. Crockery in top tray still damp, bowls in middle tray some are wet and bottom tray likewise. Plastics are really wet. We had a F&P for a few years and it dried all incl plastics perfectly. Good first dishwasher – This is my first dishwasher so I don't really have anything to compare it with. I've been using it for over 2 months now. Overall, I am very happy with it. It's easy to use. Might cost a little more but worth every cent – Purchased Miele dishwasher in November, after struggling for years with a much lesser known dishwasher (Linea) that was included when we built our house. Absolutely thrilled with our purchase. Yes, Miele may be more expensive than some other brands, but well worth it. (We had to rewash dishes from our old dishwasher previously.) The quietness is an added bonus. We are very happy and would definitely recommend Miele for anyone looking to purchase new dishwasher.
Once a Miele, always a Miele – We have been using our new Miele dishwasher for four months and have been very happy with its performance. the start, these machines deliver consistently amazing results, wash after wash.
The baskets are versatile and modular, so that big chopping board or oversized pot fits easily. When adjusting the baskets or shelves, you are reassured things have locked into place with positive feedback. While on the topic of baskets, even when fully loaded, they roll on and out with very little effort.
While there are not endless wash cycles to choose from, all your bases are covered. From glass care to intensive and even an auto cycle where the machine figures out the best wash options, based on how dirty the water is. Most cycles can also be sped up by using the turbo button, perfect for when you need clean dishes quickly. We mostly use the auto program for the “usual” load that is run every day or two. It’s never failed giving clean dishes while being economical on resources. The auto cycle is even smart enough to use the prewash water for the main wash, so long as it’s not too dirty.
One of my favourite aspects of this dishwasher (and Miele in general) is that there is a lot of intelligence happening, it’s just behind the scenes where you don’t need to be bothered by dozens upon dozens of buttons and options. Ease of use is defiantly a good trait of this machine.
Now, not all things are perfect and there is some room for improvement. The adjustment sliders for the “3D” cutlery tray have come unclipped a couple of times, luckily they are easy to put back in place. The active drying cycle does a relatively good job and things come out nice and dry, however there is just no escaping that puddle of water that sits atop coffee cups.
Maintenance is easy, we check and rinse the filter once a week, wipe the ”Clean Steal” door with damp microfibre cloth and you are done! The rinse aid dispenser is also generous, we have only had to top it up once in four months and are yet to have to add more softener salt.
Overall I rate the Miele G 4930 SC highly, it was easy to install (only a little more difficult than a washing machine) came with a comprehensive manual and gets the job done with little fuss or noise.
Very good – This was a replacement for our 12year old Bosch dishwasher. It is much quieter and well laid out. The top tray with sliding/height adjustable shelf is very handy and allows for larger items like ladles. Lower tray rolls very freely and can take you by surprise if not all the way in when you close the door, with tray hitting back wall at high… Read more · 1
speed. Door feels very light though and a bit flimsy when compared to older Bosch unit.
Overall good machine for the price. Having a problem now less than 2 years old, no service available for over 3 weeks and not usable. Service have said they will call and after over a week no contact, this seems poor for a premium brand and has put me off buying further Miele products, anything can fail but 3 weeks over holidays with no other options and promises not met is disappointing.

Great dishwasher - washes dishes well – Very happy with dishwasher. I particularly like the top cutlery tray that keeps my cutlery clean and shiny and allows more room in the drawers below for all of the crockery. This is our second Miele, it runs quietly, has a energy mode, washes everything well. I used to have a cheaper dishwasher and found that I had to re-run the load again sometimes if it did not wash well, with Miele - this is not the case. Washes well everytime. Show details · 1
Excellent-very happy with it – This dishwasher replaces a 16/17 year old Miele dishwasher. I did as much research as I could before purchasing as technology has very much changed over the years. quiet. This is quieter. The old dishwasher did a great job, but I’m using the same tablets and rinse aid and I’m pretty sure the dishes are coming out much shinier.
My old stainless steel dishwasher didn’t have clean steel. This one does and it’s made a huge difference. The old one always seemed to need wiping down. This one stays so much cleaner.
Overall I’m very happy I decided to stick with Miele. That being said, I did get the service agent out because even after the first wash I wasn’t really happy with the drying. Especially plastics (a challenge for any dishwasher), and got them to extend the drying time. I’m much happier with it since they did that.
I’m also pleased that Miele use Woolleys Electrical as well as their own service technicians now. I’ve had Miele out to my oven once to repair a broken glass and to my microwave to fix the control panel (it’s about 10 years old). Their service wasn’t crash hot. It took a while to get techs out. But I had woolleys out here in a couple of days and the technician was really good. He knew exactly what to do. Did it really quickly and arrived when he said he would.
I would certainly recommend this dishwasher.
Awfull persistent smell since day one and only 4 months old – Awful smell always on everything - just like prior reviewer has said. My last Miele was 5/5, this is awful. I’ve tried 4 different brands of tablets. I have rinse aid in .i have scrubbed it inside incl basket drain and all arm jets. Ive put vinegar and bicarbonate soda i as well as straight water rinses. I’ve done finish dishwasher cleaner every week. It’s 4 months installed and it’s awful. Show details

Cleans brilliantly – I bought this dishwasher in February 2018, so at the time of writing I've been using it for 11 months. I bought it because I moved into a new house that had a Smeg dishwasher already installed. However, the Smeg really didn't give me the kind of results I was looking for. Cutlery, plates and bowls would regularly come out of it with bits of food… Read more · 1
still stuck on, and due to the heat generated in the machine they deposits would be baked on and hard to remove. It was the worst-performing dishwasher that I'd ever used, so I sold it on Gumtree and bought the Miele instead.
The difference in performance is remarkable. It's very rare for anything to come out of the Miele with food still stuck on it. Maybe one item every 6 or 7 washes, compared with multiple items every wash with the Smeg.
The machine is whisper-quiet. You can barely hear it when running. In fact, a few times I've had to go back to the machine to check that it was running, as I couldn't hear it and thought that I had forgotten to push the start button.
In terms of usage, I just put it onto the Auto program each time. What that does is employ sensors in the machine to determine how much water to use, what temperature to heat the water to, and how long to run the program based upon the load inside.
You can get an impressive amount of stuff into the machine. The top tray is for cutlery - it doesn't have a cutlery basket like most dishwashers, but a dedicated tray. The middle tray can shift up and down to make more room below - very useful if you want to put very tall items into the bottom tray.
My only niggle is that the drying program is not as good as it could be. All of your crockery and cutlery will come out dry, but if you put plastic items in such as Tupperware containers, they will still have water in on them at the end of the program. So I end up putting them into my drainer next to the kitchen sink to dry out for a couple of hours.
One last thing - the machine might require dishwasher salt depending on your tapwater. I live in Brisbane and therefore don't need to add salt, but do some research on your local area.
Excellent dishwasher. Best we have had – Our F&P one day died so my wife researched and selected the Miele Jubilee SC for our new dishwasher. Wow... we noticed the difference straight away. This dishwasher cleans everything and very very rarely misses any food scraps. We've had this for around 18 months now and still performs excellent since the day we got it. Oh and it is very quiet! … Read more · 1
Not a complaint, though once it would not start as we had a bowl in the machine that apparently aimed water toward the door, so the water was able to flow to the bottom and activated the flood switch. Once it dried out, it worked like normal again. To find this out, we had had a technician come and investigate. He made some adjustments so as to perform better (it does) though now doesn't dry as well as it used to. We can live with that, though something to be mindful of when loading the machine (my wife learnt the hard way :p )
Would absolutely recommend Miele to anyone.
Perfect – I so love this dish washer. It’s the best one i have ever had... bar none. It gets the dishes really clean. It is also very quiet. I find that it also does not require a lot of service or maintenance or upkeep of any kind. Saves time and money. Show details · 1
Affordable, perfect and one of the BEST dishwashers available!! – Have had a Miele dish washer for the last 11 years. It’s affordable user friendly, simple and one of the BEST dishwashers out there. Love the separate cutlery tray, cleans good although the cups do not dry well enough on the top ( probably design feature of cups) no complaints and really pleased with my purchase. It’s very quite during the cycle as well. Show details
Broke after 2 weeks with circulation pump issue, F78 and support poor – I bought this because I frequently hear Miele is the best. extra week. On the technician's return he got it working again for a day but broke again. Then I booked another service call which will take another week. Still not fixed.
Other observations when it worked.
1. Door doesn't stay fully opened forcing the bottom tray to roll back
2. There is no quick wash. Fastest cycle is 1 hour 50 min

Very good dishwasher – We got this installed in our house as our old dishwasher didn't work anymore and have to say we are very happy with this dishwasher. No issues so far, does a very good job of cleaning the dishes and seems to be super reliable. No issues with drying dishes (which we have had in previous dishwashers). Very happy Show details
Made the right choice buying a Miele dishwasher – Ive bought a Smeg for my parents for around $900 less than 5 years ago and 3 years later it flooded and short circuited. I didnt do my research then. couldnt disagree to it either and knowing that it is a popular brand for great dishwashers I thought Id do more research first and narrow it down to what I really need and want. I realised I wouldnt opt for the mainstream ones. Instead I looked for something thats sort of been there for awhile or years! with good reviews and reputation. So Ive decided a Miele Dishwasher. Being an indecisive person, my hubby was surprised Im set to this particular brand. It was hard to choose which model but I ended up with this G 4930 SC CLST mainly for the functions I prefer to have, the discounted price and my budget. Close enough to buy a Bosch top range one too. The dimensions work out well for our niche since its shorter in depth at 57mm. Bosch goes over 60mm. Built under would have been perfect but it didnt tick my must haves.
The 3D cutlery was so conveniently different which this model boasts plus it is the cheapest one among all others with that functionality. We went to stores to have a look and feel of Miele dishwashers, the lower and higher end. Loved it so much that I said no to salesperson offering Asko. At the end of the day, I was excited I was sure of this model that I hadnt seen at all but chose it and bought it!
Czech built G 4930 since its an entry range. Would have been good if it was Germany but one day maybe. Or years later, we'll see. Dont quite have the money.
Had a service partner plumber installed it for us, did well. Now we use it almost every second day and couldnt hate it all.
There's only one annoying bit about the lower basket that rolls back inside even when its heavy but its manageable. Program washes are long but doesnt matter. I put in on before going to bed, put away the shiny and squeaky clean ones the next day. Dry and perfectly clean.
I love the auto program, the simplistic design in and out, very great build quality, ability to clean plastics incomparable to other dishwashers, and just the fact that its Miele.
Hoping the customer service gets better in time, I heard its been so slow and poor after already buying this. I dont need it that soon yet though.
Would have also chosen the G 6620 too but it wasnt on promo at the time. Ive never loved shopping for dishwashers since knowing Miele! If only we need more than one in a household, lol.
Lastly, the best dishwashing tablet/capsule is deserving for a high end machine too. I had time to do my homework about what ifs, what not and which ones after all the practising, I must say once again that I aced it upon completion. Hope this helps to all you readers out there!
