Poor customer service and incompetent contractors – The large gas burner was not working and Miele said they didn't have their own technician who could fix it so arranged with an outside contractor to do it. The price for the parts and job was fixed by Miele. When the contractor arrived he didn't know what had to be done and quoted me a higher price than Miele. He proceeded to disassemble the oven and cooktop but didn't have all the parts to finish the job but still demanded full payment. I did not agree to pay the higher amount or that the repair was not finished so the contractor then became rude and aggressive. I got a part sent from Miele later but it was the wrong one. So a year down the track the burner is still not working and the oven is broken too.

Broken cook top knob – Cook top knob broken down still on warranty.Send an email to Miele customer service waited for a week and later on they sent the quotation for the cooktop knob. They did not even talk about warranty . What a terrible customer service from big company .I was not expecting that .

A welcome upgrade – Bought this item as an upgrade to a very old Smeg as we just renovated out kitchen. I was particularly interested in the feature that does not allow gas to be emitted unless the sensors detect a flame/ get to a certain temperature (I'm not sure how it works). This is highly desirable given we will have kids soon. Only two complaints - if a breeze comes through the window and blows out a flame - the gas continues. The knobs looks like steel but they are abs plastic. I haven't had any issues with the knobs, but I think it's a bit tight for a product of this price point not to come with nicer knobs. They look like standard fittings, though, so I guess they could be replaced. One other note - the cooktop doesn't seems friendly to very large pots. Not that I would ever have the need - but the knobs are higher than the cast iron. Miele provide a kind of booster set of cast iron if that need arises, but I just thought I'd mention it.

OK – Solid, does what is says on the tin. Wok burner does well, performance is about the same as other burners, but you are paying for the reliability and quality that the brand name holds. Customer service reps are polite but inflexible and unaccommodating. Well built, works well so far. Don't quite get what you pay for, but it is a quality product. Cost of conversion to LPG. Newer models are sold with the conversion kit. To convert this model Miele quoted nearly 150 bucks plus more for postage for essentially 5 small copper screws. Almost laughable until they tell you they are special Miele jets and you cant get them anywhere else. Check out the prices for converting other hobs and you will notice they are a fifth of the price.

For the quality of the brand, the cost of the units and the price of manufacturing these jets; they should be sent out complimentary... period. Bad decision Miele, don't rest on your laurels! You cant take your customers money then charge them another 10% for 5 small copper screws, shame.
