Knobs! – Came with the house. As other people have said, it's a harder to clean but that's gas hobs for you - you can hardly blame Miele for that. However, what you certainly CAN blame them for is the unbelievably rubbish knobs. Also as other people have said, they break as soon as you look at them and cost an absolute bomb to replace. We're just about to replace ours with an induction hob.
So disappointed. Avoid at this price – We thought that by purchasing a Miele Gas cooktop we would get long lasting top quality. We were wrong!! So difficult to keep the glass top clean for starters but we persevered. After 12 months the first plastic knob broke. Now all broken. Rang customer service. No help at all. So disappointed in the appliance and customer service. Thought Miele were more professional and customer friendly. Do not recommend Miele.

Insist on stainless steel knobs as part of the price when purchasing this cooktop – Great looking and very practical in every way with 2 exceptions - the worst is you will end up melting a knob or two which is a nuisance and spoils the appearance of your $2800 appliance. Secondly, the gas wok burner is about 13.9MJ - which is fine for most people - whereas if you want a 22MJ that reduces to 1.5MJ on the inner ring (think melting chocolate) then good old Aussie St George has a $2200 model which puts out 22MJ. It's ignition system is a little less reliable though!
I agree that stains can get under the glass which isn't great but didn't give me kittens. Looks and general useability - never fails to ignite for example Plastic knobs melt!
High price, poor quality and service – What a huge let down. This cooktop looks great however it is a nightmare to clean. The black glass is time consuming to clean. But the most disappointing factor is that the hobs and trivets absorb oil. These stains cannot be removed. I am very particular about having a clean kitchen so to have purchased a cooktop that is at the higher end of the scale only to have it look cheap, and constantly dirty is very frustrating and embarrassing when guests come over . We contacted Miele customer service in South Melbourne and they told us that they don't know how the product will perform once it's used! They offered no help. The manual says clean in hot water with mild soap. This did nothing. I have tried detergent, spray and wipe, oven cleaner, sponges, scourers, put them in the dishwasher on the pots cycle, soaked them etc etc. Nothing works! For a company that promotes itself as a high quality superior brand it has not been backed up in either functionality or service. A friend bought an apartment with this cooktop, and the same thing has happened to theirs. What's the point in having a cooktop that never looks clean. The worst purchase I have ever made! Looks great Absorbs oil and permanently stains

I agree that this was a bad purchase and am extremely dissappointed in Miele. ALL my 5 knobs broke within a year and each cost a bomb to replace. The ignitor spoilt in the first year too and now I have to use a hand held lighter. Miele then charges exorbitant amounts to service. I agree with above comments about cleaning as well as the stains dont come out. I was under the impression that it would be easy to wipe clean as I'm a bit of a mess but find it very difficult to get it really clean.
