Excellent basic machine – I know this machine is discontinued but for anyone looking to buy one second hand this machine has been very good to us. Purchased brand new around 5 years ago, it is quiet, powerful and light in weight. The wand and components are all high quality and have not work out after being used almost daily on hard wood floors (with hard floor brush… Read more ·  1

attachment purchased separately). The many different adjustable power levels are excellent, I can use my mini vacuum tool set which require minimal suction right up to heavy duty work on max. Not the most powerful vac but powerful enough in my experience. Also, the bags are large and not that expensive. We probably average a bag each 2-3 months which in the scheme of things is an insignificant running cost.

Kudos! – For a long long time, to me vacuuming means getting a hose and suck trash up, and only do it as the last resort, or when being forced to. For a person who has no idea of what to choose, intuitively, looking for new dust bags is bad, 'bagless' means worry-free. So wrong. Had a shop vac before, had an LG bagless before, had a Piranha bagless… Read more

before. And started seriously looking at vacuum cleaner, and decided on a bagged vacuum. At first, we settled with a Kmart bagged vacuum and happy for a while, and later found out paper bag in the machine torn up by the sharp ribs in the bag chamber and we started to look for another machine, and found one on gumtree, a seven year old s6.

It is so small so compact that I have no expectation for its quality compared to the Kmart vacuum that's bigger in size and much newer.

It turns out the suction is distinctively higher, to a layman like me. If a simple test can differentiate it, you really don't need sophisticated equipment to quantify the difference, it's basically hUGE..I

And they both having similar power rating on the label.

This kept me thinking, what's wrong with regulations that control how a manufacturer specifies on their product. Or maybe, it may be true that the Kmart machine did perform up to spec, but there's no requirement for performance consistency due to degradation even after a couple of months of usage?

Due to my destructive nature, I begin striping the s6 down, and it's a while new world to me: everything is so well compartmentalized into a very tricky design of base box, moulded with sophisticated tooling design (lots of sliders and cams in the tool required to make all the undercuts), and majority of hardwares are drop in with snaps and catches, without screws. Screws are used only for top cover. Then again, this is so different from those Kmart and Electrolux, where most of the hardwares are mounted with screws. Of course nothing's wrong with using screws, it's a no brainer, and reduce engineering effort, lots of engineers love screws, I mean they love using screws.

But not these German engineers at Miele.

Awesome vacuum – This vaccum is the best I've owned. It is cheaper than some other models but works perfectly. Filters do need to be replaced every now and then. I'd highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a vacuum and I'd stick to the proper bags not the cheap ones because they don't work well.  Show details

Good for two weeks, now pretty much unusable – Was excellent for the first two weeks but is now essentially unusable. The floorhead seems to stick/suck to the floor even on very low suction - timber veneered concrete floor in an apartment. It is progressively getting worse and I expect that in a couple of months it will be on the lowest possible suction level. Asked Miele about it and their… Read more

suggestion was to adjust the suction level and queried whether I was using it correctly for a hard floor - how about that for help.

Excellent! got the suction power! – For a compact vacuum cleaner for household, this is good for value of money for just over $250 and it has the high suction power! Features I like; 1. Silence 2. High suction power 3. no motor burning smell 4. telescoping boom 5. suitable for carpet and tiles 6. value for money

Very impressed – I've had this vacuum cleaner for a year now and it consistently performs very well, especially considering it is within Miele's more budget-minded range. Compares very well with my previous, far more expensive, vacuum cleaner. Well worth the money.
