17253 hours washing machine – This is best washing machine I have 9 kids and 2 adults and washing every single day never stopped. Thank you Miele and vacuum clean is the best. I am now looking for second washing machine to buy and definitely will be Miele. Miele washing machine I have is w1712 is amazing quality and durable. Show reply
Another Example of the Banging Machine When Spinning – Our Miele W1712 washing machine begun banging itself during spinning cycle around its ninth birthday when washing towels. We read the instruction manual and searched online as well as checked the levelling of the machine, it seems that we perfectly followed the instructions and the machine stands on the ground as stable as a rock. Now the problem… Read more
extends to other fabrics washing. Today we read from this website to discover that another owner of the same model has reported the exact problem on 27 June 2019 as we have been experiencing. Paying nearly $2000 we expect that Miele deliveries the 20 year services that it promises. We have a small household of just two people and we have been maintaining our machine as what the manual instructs. Now it appears to us that this model has some quality issues itself. I always believe that higher price is an indication of good quality, but this washing machine proves that I am wrong on Miele products. We also own a few of other Miele products, reaching their services has never been easier.

Good but expensive reliable machine – I've had my Miele W1720 for 15 years now and it still looks like new. It washes well and has enough options to suit how quickly you want your loads done. I use the 30 minute option the most as I live by myself. I have used the 30 minute option without the detergent for an extra rinse if I'm doing a load of towels. I love the hot load option also… Read more
for towels which I do every 6 months to keep the drum clean. My only gripe is that I can't cancel a load once it has started. I had guests who must have started a long load without putting any washing in and switched it off. When I wanted to wash the sheets etc after they left, I had to wait an hour and forty minutes for the machine to finish its empty cycle. I followed the cancel instructions but they didn't work. But over all I'm happy with the machine, although my daughter has an LG which I think is just as good for a much lower price.
A good strong unit – Still runs well. In case of no power problem check the drain pump. Have had drain pump failed that blown a fuse on the board. Easy enough to replace both for a handy person. Cost me $60 and a little of brain to work it out. I cant complain about it after 7 of use. There are only few people complain and the rest are still happily using this model
Had a very good run with this machine. Keep up with regular services and you will have no issues – Had a very good run with this machine. Keep up with regular services and you will have no issues. Uses very little powder and handles all types of washing, all good Show details

Total crap on the name of "Made in Germany" – We had this expensive machine and will not recommend anyone. Having Drain warning appearing all the time and if you have to replace machine every 5 years, then better to stick with other known brands. We have been loyal to Miele Brand (most items at our place) but cannot support anymore. Show details
Troublesome machine – Expensive machine, have had it for approx 8 years and had it repaired 4 times. Not worth the money, cost a fortune in repairs. Thought it would last at least 10 years, very dissapointed. Show details
Having trouble sourcing solution for Fault – W1712 aprox 7 years old. I did load it up with too many towels according to my wife. Now it starts in any mode with correct procedure but switches off after a few seconds. display goes blank no error code.Waiting for service techs to return 04/01/22 . Hope they can diagnose over the phone and give me a ball park figure for repairs. 2nd Miele… Read more

Bought in 2008 and has had only 2 service calls!! It would still be going if Allied Removalists had told me that they hadn’t put the transit bolts in place, which they had agreed to do. We are now looking for another Miele. Fantastic washing machine!! Show details
Just celebrated its 13th birthday! Had the computer changed (almost for free, thank you Miele!) after 8 years and haven’t skipped a bit since then. And moved house at least 6 times since purchasing it. Show details
Miele! So So quality, expected more! – Have had my Miele coming up to 16 years in which it has had a fairly relaxed life cleaning for a single male. 2 years ago I had a technician come out to investigate a knocking sound and for $150 was told that the drum spider was broken/cracked and wasn't worth fixing due to the high cost of parts and labour. I was told that I should discontinue… Read more
using as I could risk having the unit catch fire, which I ignored and got a couple more years use before it blew up yesterday. I am now looking at replacement cost of at least 2K so that my matching dryer doesn't look out of place or spending the same amount for a new dryer and washer on a cheaper brand that has better reliability and reviews.

Not the longevity we were expecting – Purchased in 2009. Expected a long life due to reputation of Miele but sadly this is not the case. Fault 53 occurring, with repair and part cost expected to cost $500+ we will look to purchase a new machine. Disappointed. Show details

Extremely disappointing – Despite spending over a thousand dollars on a premium washing machine, this one has stopped working completely. When it did work, it was extremely noisy and would make loud banging sounds. The detergent cover has been displaced and we can't even put it back in. Absolute waste of money and extremely disappointing. Show details
Miele washer has been good till now – 10 years of use and the 1712 has started banging during the spin cycle. I can see from other reviews that this timeframe seems common for this fault to appear... so much for the 20 years. We’ve already had the power board fixed once on the washer and between our dryer, fridge and freezer it seems like we know the Miele service team on a first name… Read more
basis. Recent dishwasher visit in April set me back $500 in parts and labour. Does anyone know if the banging is an expensive fix as whilst I’ve loved Miele to date my patience is wearing thin.
It's good for the money until it breaks – This washing machine has had 13 years of non stop no hassle washing. The first thing to go was the front door seal, which was fixed temporarily with silicon sealant. Next was the drum bearing, it went with a snap and now the drum is of centre. Due to the cost of a meile technician to come out and fix it, I have decided to fix it myself. It is… Read more
not a job for the faint hearted and you need to know what you are doing. The belt is still in surpisingly good condition. however this will be changed as well while the machine is being repaired.
This being and older model warrants having the time and money spent on it (doing it myself) If you are strapped for cash and dont have the ability to fix things yourself I would not reccommend a more modern meile. If this can last a few more years great. The next time a washing machine is purchased it will be a a mechanical top loader if they still exist.
5 year old scrap metal – I have always had Miele washing machines. The machine I had before this one was the Miele W828 and that was the best machine ever. I gave that to a friend because I wanted to update it and what a mistake that was. For the last 2 months, the machine had been banging sideways during spin cycle to the point where the detergent holder was opening… Read more
right up. Yesterday the machine just shut shop and it is dead. I called a weekend washing repair service as I have 3 young children and NEED to get my washing done and he said once the electronic board goes, it’s over $800 to repair. I paid $1600 for it and thought I’d have it at least another 5 years. The service guy said Mieles aren’t the mieles of the old days and I should have kept my old machine. So upset and disappointment and what a HUGE inconvenience. Will NEVER buy Miele again.

Disappointing in the long term – I was very happy with my W1712 for 8 years. It had a pretty easy life - one load a week for about 4 years until I decided to make use of the "delicates' program instead of handwashing. Rarely used it more than two washes per week. Last Xmas I started to get a 'water inlet fault' message and the machine would stop. Followed the instructions to… Read more
clean - couldn't see any blockages but the machine would run for a few months until it happened again. About 3 weeks ago it started again and even though the machine would fill with water, as soon as it ticked over to start washing, the message 'water inlet fault' would appear and the machine would stop. After 3 attempts to clean blockages that weren't there, and the machine emptying litres of water every time I checked the water inlets and restarted the machine, it suddenly went dead. Arranged for a service and was advised it was the circuit board at a replacement cost of over $800 and that replacing it may not even fix whatever problem had caused the original fault message. My options were to pay for anything up to $1000 to repair or $1600 for a new machine. It has no rust, and only superficial cosmetic cracks in the plastic around the outside of the glass in the door. I couldn't make a decision at the time but after thinking it over decided I wasn't prepared to discard a machine that seems to be in otherwise good condition just because a small electronic board had failed. Miele claims a reputation for having a long-serving reliable machine but what's the point of building durability into the body if the electronics can't last the distance. My previous machine was a top loader that I bought on sale as display stock. It rusted, the selection knob got stuck on one program and I swore I'd never get a cheap machine again. And yet in years of service it easily outlasted the 8 and a half of the Miele. Also, Miele's Service Department needs a lot of work. I couldn't reach them by phone to advise that I had decided to get the machine fixed and ended up on a chat line with someone (assuming it was a real person) who referred me to a site where I could order the part. I've ended up asking another company to fix the machine.

Great machine but when it comes to a repair or service it is another story – We have owned our Miele washing machine (Front Loader Mod W1712) for 12 years and it has been used regularly in that time. We are a two person family and occasionally the grand children visited to add to the load but all within the ability of the machine. Recently the machine showed a fault on the digital display ( "F53") with the instruction to… Read more · 1
call a technician. We have only one approved Miele technician in our area and when we called we were advised that they were out of business and not accepting any service calls. We then rang Miele local office in Sydney and were advised the next nearest technician was an hour distant and so we called them only to be informed that the technician was on leave and would not be back for two weeks. I have dismantled the machine and believe I have found the fault in the speed sensor device and have consequently removed it from the machine an am now seeking to purchase a replacement part. Miele do not list a part in their inventory so I asked a Sydney agent if he could arrange to supply the part. Miele were then asked for a price by the agent but they would not supply without me providing the serial number of the machine (understandable). I can not find a serial number where it should be (on the inside of the door) so now I am taking the "removed" part to the agent so he can talk to Miele and arrange a replacement. Miele quote is over $240 for the part.... My word of warning is to any person proposing to buy any electronic appliance of some worth to first ensure there is an approved agent in the area to service the machine. We have since purchased a new Bosch washing machine with local service agent and we are so far pleased with the performance of that machine. Once I have repaired the Miele we will pass it on to a family member as it has been a good machine and still rust free and looks as new as the day we originally purchased it!

Technical Fault on W1712 – My Miele W1712 machine will not turn on but now says Technical. I also have a dryer T7944C which now only blows cold air. Very frustrating for both to be not working. Went online to enquire about a service and was informed as 2 appliances but book 2 services. Given the cost of the service I think this is totally unfair. Show details · 1
Paying for the name not the quality – Purchased Miele W1712 approximately 8 years ago --- beginning last year, it started to refuse to spin without smashing itself apart every time I try to wash towels.... (expensive) maintenance issues in the near future.
Went out and bought a $600 2nd machine - when the Miele completely dies I'll buy another one --- and it will still be cheaper than what they are charging for a new machine. If they last 8ish years I'm ahead.
We also have a Miele: stove top, oven and extractor fan - these are also around 8 years old and my wife complains daily about the stove & oven .... so, 1 out of 4?
Miele is dead to me.
--- NB Meile: don't worry about attaching your standard platitude telling me your sorry & asking me to contact you. Your products are quite clearly poor quality - not much else to say is there?
If I do get a reply, the only conclusion I can make is that your responses are simply automated "spin", attempting to make your customer service look good. Consider this as an experiment - let's see how Miele fairs :-)

We wont buy a Miele washing machine again – When we purchased this washing machine we were advised it would last 20 years. It didn't last 8. Further, it cost over a third of its already expensive purchase price to fix. Hard not to do when you need a working washing machine for your family that day. In future we will buy a different brand, cheaper if need be, and simply replace it if it… Read more

Wow meant to last around 20years. Only got 9 – Very disappointed with our Miele Washing Machine we have had it just over 9 years. Was told we would get 20 years so spent the extra because it worked out better value. But after the front electrical panel has failed and over $800 just for the part, seems we have been ripped off. Wouldn’t go near Miele again our cheap washing machine lasted 10 years. Show details
Miele a prestigious brand ? – I purchased the product from Harvey Normans because it was sold as a premium brand and had been engineered tested to last 20 years as verified by Miele's website .. a wet environment. I contacted Miele helpdesk on the 20/11/18 and have been mucked around for weeks by various agents.
On the 21 /12/18 I have been advised Miele will supply the parts for free in 4 to 6 weeks which will leave me without a washing machine for 10 weeks before the parts are even fitted. The service agent wants $810 to fit the parts .
We did suggest because of the length of time of repair and customer satisfaction, the company consider offering a discount towards a new machine with the deprecation for our use factored in.
The company would have a satisfied customer that remained loyal to the brand and would tell all my friends how good they are. I'm currently less than impressed from supposedly a prestigious brand.

Sold a lie – One thing I hate more is planned obsolesce or "forced redundancy" in appliances. Corporate giants destroying the environment with failure points so they can sell you a hunk of metal again and again every 5 years until you die. So I thought Miele was a refreshing change with their piles and piles of marketing detailing the engineering expertise to… Read more
design their appliances to last 20 years. Not only that, I was promised on sale a very long life close to 20 years with the W1712 Honeycomb and I was happy to invest in a machine on the basis of a long lifespan.
WHAT A MISLEADING, DECEPTIVE AND PHONY COMPANY.
This machine was $1599 and completely failed after 6 years with the power board. Power boards inside sealed appliances should last 50+ years. Miele will love sending out a service person after 1-2 weeks of no washing machine to give you a $600-$900 repair bill and show you how expensive it is to buy a new one, but they'll offer you 20% off.
I will avoid Miele brand for life now and tell every soul I know that they don't live up to their marketing claims.
My opinion is that the company is in breach of Australian Consumer Law for misleading me about my consumer rights and the durability of their appliances. They consistently tell me that the 2 year warranty is expired so I need to pay for repairs which is not the case for a statutory warranty claim - and Harvey Norman salespeople can't tell me the reason it's expensive is because it will last for 20 years unless Miele are willing to come good on that claim should something go wrong or a faulty part be sold to me.
The customer service experience left an enormous amount to be desired for such an expensive "premium" brand. I've had better service from cheaper brands, their staff don't seem to talk to each other and have zero commitment or concern for resolving your issues. Miele just expect their rich clients to just pay whatever they ask for repairs so they can profit from selling faulty appliances. Forget that.

detergent drawer is just as flimsy and all the writing has worn off, both very costly to replace. Only good thing about machine is the gentle washing cycle but it does not rinse properly unless you always use extra wayer and minimal detergent.

Best front loader washing machine I have ever used – The best front loader I have ever used. It operates so quietly and doesnt move when spinning. Washes clothes really well and it spins the clothes so well they dry in no time. No lint on clothes. I have owned many front loaders but the Miele one is the best. Awesome machine. Does a fantastic job with all clothes. Gets blood stains out, grass, wine, you name – Love this machine. Have had it for 7 years now, and it's the best washer I've ever owned. The only downside is the length of the cycles, but you can work around that. If you know you need to wash quickly you can use the express setting. It is also extremely efficient on water and power. Buy Quality they say – Well, lemons are not always yellow. Lets start with the door, replaced three times under warranty, drain? pump failed out of warranty, stabiliser shock absorbers failed with the the machine constantly running out of balance and has developed a very healthy for appetite for catching clothes between the door seal and bowl, leaving a friction hole in them. Well what a pile of crap. Service well thats as good as the machine itself.
