Was great when purchased but not over time – Similar experience to other reviews on here. Was a great machine when we first purchased. It actually cleaned our clothes! We forked out the money believing it would last up to 20years. At 13years old we are having problems with it. Had a tech out only about twelve months ago and booking process was awful. Expensive call out compared to other… Read more
brands. Fixed problem but now having lots of issues. Drain fault (not all the time), water still filling machine once cycle has finished (need to turn tap off at wall) even when we turn the power off to the machine. Sometimes the short cycle is taking up to 45 minutes as it seems to get stuck. Now fault F184. As I know parts are expensive, call out process in not great I am thinking maybe it is better to cut our losses and go and buy a new machine. Potentially for the price of a repair I could purchase a new current washing machine that would wash as well if not better than 13 year old repaired technology. I am disappointed with Miele service and hesitant to purchase another one as I have just had a bad experience with a new Miele dishwasher. Should have gone with another brand.
Definitely not "Forever Better" – I would not recommend. We paid a lot of money for this washing machine expecting it to last "up to 20 years." It cleaned really well and the shirts and the silk wash cycles were handy. Spun clothes very dry which made drying much quicker. But it was quite noisy and lacked a delay start feature, which even our old F&P had (despite being 1/2 the… Read more
price and lasting for 15 years). I am really disappointed as it only lasted 7 and 1/2 years. We paid a lot expecting we would get a reliable well built long lasting machine, sadly Miele, hasn't lived up to these expectations. We had to replace a rubber rim after 3 years ($220 for repairs) and then after 6 years the the electronic sensor died, which cost $650 to repair. Last week it stopped working due to an F53 fault. Miele kindly sent a repair person out (without charging, normally costs $176 for call out) who assessed it and said the brushes are worn so the motor will need to be replaced, which will be at least $800. That would mean I would have spent as much as I had paid for the machine, in repairs, in less than 8 years of use. They offered a 20% discount to buy another machine, but I would never buy another Miele, they are so expensive to repair and not worth the inconvenience and cost. Definitely not Immer Besser (forever better) as their marketing tag claims!
Almost perfect – This machine has a dial and only a few buttons... which is probably the key to its longevity. In one of our previous machines it was always the buttons that failed: The previous machine had a dial and lasted for ages before it bit the dust. This machine probably does 5 loads a day and is about 10 years old. So far we haven't had any problems… Read more · 1
except those that are self inflicted... like dropping stuff into it or spilling water inside it while emptying it, failing to level it correctly, removing the vibration absorbing rubber pads, surrounding it with stuff, placing all kinds of stuff on it and spilling water all over the place. Most of that doesn't result in a problem... but it's not recommended.
The biggest problem is that people don't bother to read the manual before declaring the machine broken. Fortunately error codes don't happen very often. Sometimes the machine shows a fault when it fails to empty all the water (usually when someone adds too much powder)... but all you have to do is put it into spin mode and the excess water is removed. If it refuses to go into spin mode because there is too much water simply tilt it to remove a little water and it will start working again. Alternatively use the drain plug at the bottom of the machine (a bit messy). Not sure why Miele couldn't engineer many of these issues out?
The machine is a bit sensitive to foreign objects and stops working if too many things get into the lint trap e.g. Coins, pins, fluff, etc... . Mostly the machine simply ignores the obstruction and keeps working. This is an annoyance Miele should try to engineer out?
Our previous Miele washing machine topped the Choice reliability ratings... so we're not the only ones experiencing long lifespans and few problems. It was still running when we traded it in on the new one... but needed an expensive seal on the front door and the dial had eventually become very sloppy (moved around too much). This made us decide to upgrade rather than repair. The only major item that failed in it previously was a heating element which kept tripping the circuit breakers and so had to be changed. Most repairs weren't very expensive and the machine was repaired at home. Our local service guy usually comes the next day and mostly has the necessary parts to repair on the spot.
On this machine the band holding in the seal came undone and then broke because we couldn't figure out how to get it back in place (the door kept closing on it). We probably should have rung the service centre earlier... as it proved a little expensive to replace and took a week to order in. While we had the machine apart we also replaced the brushes. This probably wasn't necessary as the old brushes had a fair bit of meat in them? The new brushes made no difference to how it runs... but it was probably the prudent thing to do given the amount of washing we do.
The machine cleans beautifully as long as you treat any major stains before washing. There is no obvious wear on the clothes: Wear is caused more by your choice of washing powder than by anything else. If you use a filler free concentrate then the machine generates almost no lint (which comes from the fillers)
Very quiet except when it starts to spin (which never seems to bother anyone very much).. Seems to use a modest amount of water: we never notice it on the water bill... so it can't be too bad?
You have to spin the wash a second time... otherwise the clothes come out fairly damp. However the W3725 only spins to 1300 RPM... and later machines spin to 1600 RPM. That's probably why the second spin is required? Pity they didn't include a long spin option when designing the machine?
One annoying feature of the W3725 manual is that it doesn't list power consumption (supposedly it's on the plate at the back of the machine). Try reading that if the plate is hard up against a wall? Had a bit of trouble finding power consumption info for the newer models too... as most machines only had an energy rating... which only tells you how much power a machine uses in comparison to an unspecified baseline.
The price is a bit steep... but if it remains trouble free then it was worth it?

Did not last 20 yrs – Our machine lasted 11 years only, and originally cost AU$1800. It was repaired three times, and this week it was condemned by a Miele technician who said the motor had burned out [about $800-$900 to repair, with months of waiting, so not worth it]. It Like others on here, we were expecting 15-20 years out of it. It seems many people have had the… Read more
same experience - 10-12 years and the machine dies. We are not heavy washing machine users - 3 people, no overloading or misuse of the functions. We liked the machine - the buzzer, fast spins very occasionally, cold cycle, solid build, etc. So a motor failure, rather than replacing the brushes which were in good condition, was a great surprise. We looked as ASKO and Miele, and ended up with a European stock Miele WCD 320 for AU$1600. We will see.
Disappointing Miele life span – Our previous washing machine and dishwasher lasted over 20 years, while I even washed nappies and toddler clothing daily. So we did not hesitate to buy new Mieles when they both packed up after long service. Well, this "new" machine, W 3725, has packed up after only 12 ( trouble free) years. We don't wash as much and one child has left home. The… Read more
bearings. The technician says it could be up to $1000 to repair and we may not have it back before Christmas. This bearing problem is in spite of my regular very hot water wash as recommended. This is enough for me to start looking around ( today) at other brands. Also our "new" dishwasher was disappointing as it leaked unnoticed for days onto our parquetry floor ( under the cupboards). I have reviewed it separately. So this experience is definitely opening my eyes to other brands.
I love mine its now 12 years old! – I use mine every day, sometimes two to three loads and it runs perfectly. Never had a problem with it and love it. Use Norwex washing powder in it and it cleans the clothes perfectly with that. Have used other powders with it. Only thing I wish it had was a timer delay but when I replace it eventually with another Miele that is one option I will go for. Just bought a new Miele tumble dryer being delivered next week. Love Miele. Show details · 1

Miele: Infuriating lack of service – We purchased this W 3725 about 11 years ago. It has ceased working. The buzzer goes off and the screen flashes an error message. The manual says to call the service centre. After numerous attempts I get through only to be put on hold and then cut off after 12 minutes. 2 emails generate auto responses and a promise that Miele will be in touch soon.… Read more
Meanwhile we have an expensive white cube sitting idle and a family's laundry piling up. The Miele website boasts: Longevity is the ultimate sustainablilty. Perhaps Miele has a different measure of longevity to us.

Miele W3725: Not Impressed – When making a decision to buy a washing machine, my wife was unfortunately bowled over by the supposed prestige of the Miele brand name and more particularly the claim of the salesman that it would last '25 years'. Clearly this was a case of over-selling and under- delivering as the machine barely lasted 12 years during which time we also did not… Read more
exactly have trouble free service since we had occasion to call in a serviceman during that time too. The machine was also very loud, louder than Fisher Paykel, Whirlpool and Defy we had before it. I will not be buying Miele again, if I can help it.
Meile W3725 – After 10 years we had some issues with our machine which were very efficiently rectified after speaking to Meile and having a service call. Extremely satisfied with the response from Meile. Show details

W3725 Miele washer – Not sure if its worth the extra money in the purchase price to buy these products - we had same issues with our Miele Microwave too and threw it in the bin at a young age after expensive repairs. I am happy however with Miele's response in offering us a discount on the price os a replacement unit. We did not take up the offer and bought another brand, but it was still something at least from Miele. Show details
Fantastic machine, living up to the Miele name – I bought this washing machine in 2008 and still cannot fault it after 15 years. I have never had a service call on my machine. It is used most days, and on weekends it often does 3 or 4 loads a day. I had an issue with it not draining properly about 6-12 months ago, my husband cleaned out the water filter and it's working perfectly again. I hope… Read more · 1
it continues to last a long time. I love the range of wash options, 2hrs for cottons, 1hr 15mins for automatic and 30 mins express along with silks, delicates, wool, denim, outerwear etc. There is an option for every load. It can fit a lot in it, especially for a 6.5kg machine.
died an early death – I bought this machine with Kevin 07 money, and it has served us well but at 15 years old a clanging noise made me get a service person in. The drum has misshapen, and it cost me $250 to find out it couldn't be repaired. I kept on using it with the bang for a while but now it is shorting out. Sadly, we didn't get the 25 years promised by Miele and at the premium price we paid, I was expecting better longevity. Show details
Not what we we hoping from a Miele – When we bought this machine 12 years ago for $2199, we were told it would last years, however I would have expected more than 12 years from a well cared for upmarket Miele machine Miele Serviceman said we used it too often on the express cycle and the back of the drum had corroded (not worth fixing). Early failure of Miele W 3725 – Paid a significant premium to get a washing machine with stainless steel tub and suds bowl, only to have it fail after 10 years due to corrosion of other internal parts. Repairs would have cost the same as a new machine, so not an option. It ended up as a "well engineered" throw away, with the same life as a much cheaper construction. No empathy… Read more
from Miele, who blamed us for using too many cold washes. Some re-engineering is needed to make sure all of the construction is in appropriate materials, not just the bits they can use in their advertising spiel.
I liked my Miele W3725, but it lasts me only 13 years and cost me $2000 with one repair of $300 after just 2 years – Easy to handle and good washing result! I am only disappointed, that this machine is now broken after 13years. I had a Miele before and she worked 25years. Result: Miele is not the quality, as it was. Show details

Excellent washing machine - but dissapointed with life machine life – Our previous washing machine was a Kleenmaid and lasted us over 18 trouble free years. some minor parts over the years and now just over 10 years old has gone up in smoke. We are now questioning if it was worth the extra price this machine was above the other brand machines. Would have been happy with 10 years from a cheaper machine, but was expecting well over 10 years from this machine due to the price paid. Questioning if we will buy Miele again.

Not a Miele fan any more – We purchased a Miele W3725 washing machine and a matching dryer 10 years ago and have had no end of trouble. technician believes it is a motor failure. His quote was over $600 to fix, to pay that after spending 3 times as much originally for a product that is supposed to last longer than others on the market seems ridiculous. Even the technician didn't recommend spending the money to fix it because who knows what else will go wrong! So after only 10 years we are looking to replace both machines... any suggestions on a reliable make?

Not happy with lifetime of machine – The machine vibrates shockingly on spin cycle. It has shown a waterproof fault and will stop mid cycle. The tech visited (a contractor, not a Miele tech, even though booked through Miele directly) and was advised to buy a new machine as cost was too much to fix. So much for lasting 20 years! Overpriced and no better quality – Ours lasted 7 years before circuit board died. Only 2 Miele repairers in our area who can fix and both booked out for weeks. Parts and install at least $639. We didn't pay over $2000 for a machine to only last 7 years and for parts to be as much as a new machine. Don't waste your money because you certainly won't get any more value for the price you pay!!! Show details

Fantastic – Have had for 3 years now and find it excellent. We went from top loader to this and have loved it! It has options for short washes and does an excellent job washing clothes. does vary with the cycle you choose but we have a family of four so separating the colours means the load isn’t usually too big.
Awesome washing machine – I love my Miele, I have 5 kids and I'm always washing, I found that by using the Miele powder and fabric softer I get a better result, this machine is quiet and spins my clothes well, minimum iron is the cycle I mostly use, great machine I highly recommend Show details
Haven’t had a problem – Haven’t had a problem with this machine. It does take a while so I use the short setting. Have always used Miele due to their reputation. Did cost a lot but worth it. Fantastic machine – We've had our W3725 since early 2009, so over 8 years. It has never missed a beat. Does a great job with all the different sorts of loads we put in it. dryer (T8423C) sitting on top of it, and it has given similar service - excellent results and not a single problem. And the condenser aspect of the dryer is really good - no more wet walls, windows and ceiling while drying. Would highly recommend both these machines.
If it's well engineered, it's beautiful – We have had ours since 2011. It's been a beautiful, flawless piece of machinery. Totally intuitive to use. We both still enjoy using it after 6 years. Cleans the clothes perfectly and feels rock solid - it's never done a thing wrong. We would still like to get an accompanying dryer, but the reviews scare me. I am also scared of repairs if it doesn't make its claimed 20 year design life, but none needed so far. Show details

Don't Buy This Brand! – We have had our Meile w3725 for about 3 years. It worked Ok to start with but now won't spin clothes very dry. That is, clothes come out of the machine soaking wet. Then it wouldn't spin properly, had to take it to the service centre to get repaired which is 45 minutes away, so inconvenient. They had it for a few days only to tell us nothing was wrong with it. no way of getting it to a service centre, I got a local repairman to look at it, he tried to get help from Miele but they wouldn't help absolutely useless they were. It doesn't go at all this is not good enough we are out of pocket $2100 plus what we have spent on repairs. It is just one heavy piece of scrap metal, please everybody if you want value for money DON'T buy this brand. I would never buy a Miele product again and would never recommend it either. The old fashion twin tub washer would have been better than this piece of junk. I only rated it one star because it was impossible to give it zero stars. We were told by Harvey Norman staff it would last 20 years like my old kleenmaid, (wish I bought another Kleenmaid instead). Miele service is terrible.
LEGALLY ENFORCABLE REPAIRS OUTSIDE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY – For all of you that have any sort of equipment or product that has not lasted as long as you expected, I strongly suggest you do a Google search on the following phrase and read the ABC commentary - "BROKEN BUT OUT OF WARRANTY". make sure you stand your ground - I have recently had a 3 year old stove and a 3 year old iPhone repaired at no cost to me after I argued about my expectations about longevity - the vendors initially denied knowledge of the change in the Jan 2011 law but I persisted and eventually they acknowledged its existence and came to the party. Good luck.
Don't buy Miele – I agree with the other reviews panning the W3725. In fact our circumstances are identical.to some. We bought the W3725 in 2011 thinking it would last 10 years. Now it needs the pressure switch panel replaced and would have cost $670 with the service call. We can buy a new cheaper machine for the same price. But thats not all. We have a… Read more

The dreaded F53 error - had to buy a new washing machne - it wont be Miele – Had the washing machine for about 8 years, very noisy and yesterday we got the now infamous F53 error. 3 years and 3 months. Customer service was poor - the technician was an undermining arrogant pig, after dealing with 4 customer service operators, only 1 was professional. We were going to be charged $600 to pay for the repairs - I would have thought they could at least meet us half way, but no, they really did not care. So rather than spending $600 on poor service, and no warranty, we have decided to go with a BOSCH for the same price and 3 years warranty. Will definitely extend the warranty this time. Very unhappy and am hoping that we won't go through the same thing with our miele dishwasher and vaccumm. Very unhappy. When it worked it was a great machine. It suddenly stopped working after 3 years and 4 months due to a "faulty power board"
