Can you believe it - the supposed premium segment washer having 2 faults within 18 months of ownership.

Not happy - Expensive mistake – I am very disappointed with both the performance of this washing machine and the Miele service. You always have to wait between one to two weeks for a technician to visit. wash. It had to be wiped out every time I used it. Serveral drain faults occurred but I manually drained the machine. My first major problem developed in June 2016 (outlet drain fault). The technician examined the drain connection and produced a small particle that he claimed was blocking the pipe. What rubbish - it was a very small particle. The next major issue (Oct 16) was that the door seal distorted and twisted causing water to leak over my floor. Miele provided a new sealing ring. Another major fault in March 2017 but still under warranty. Oct 2017 - Now out of warranty. A series of drain faults including a warning message -Technical Fault call service Technician resulted in another callout on 31 October 2017. The technician said I probably needed new hoses but a week later I was told I needed the pump replaced because the machine was too far away from the drain and the pump was too small. Why didn't they tell me that during warranty??? They charged almost $400 for a new pump. I believe the washing machine has had several problems since I purchased it and overall I am not happy with the way it washes clothes. I expected more from a machine that cost $2,499.. It used to be very quiet in use but the noise has increased after the installation of the new pump. Waiting over a week for repairs each time is also not reasonable when you have babies and young children to care for. The Miele call centre has been disorganised but I did notice an improvement during October this year.

Nice wash quality but constant mechanical troubles – Cleans and rinses clothes nicely, particularly good with delicate items. and now we have a problem with the spin cycle where our clothes come out wet (now its out of warranty, but I've lost faith in the machine and don't want to pay for a service call).

The marketing for the product says its tested to last 20 years, but we've only had 3 years out of it. A real shame given the amount of money we paid for it, and that the matching dryer has performed flawlessly.

Not even 12 months old and already a fault – ...update 20Feb16.... Miele service tech came 3 days earlier, due to a cancelled spot becoming available - a nice surprise. Disappointed with reliability as our new washer has a fault requiring service tech after 12 months. To boot they cannot have it looked at for a week!! ... busy with other problems??

Washer actually does a good job washing, however with the hyp of super reliability and extended testing like no other manufacturer you would have expected better than 12 months

Best washing machine we have ever owned – Now 3 years old, still works like new. Cleans clothes really well, spins them thoroughly even on short cycle. Quiet, very well made, easy to use and understand controls. Seems to be gentler on clothes. Should last a lifetime. This is the Mercedes of washers and well worth it's high cost.

Quiet and powerful – I've only had my new Miele for like 5 months. But so far I'm quite happy with it. My clothes get clean also in the quick wash mode and the most important thing is, that it is super quite. My previous one I had from my grand parents so it was about time to change.

Great product - great quality – I researched awhile before purchase and Miele is the only one with longevity rather than failure rate. Unlike samsung etc- with built in obselence of 5-7 years. Miele is faster, quieter and clothes look cleaner and spin cycle seems to make clothes drier. ( it could be our old machine was a toploader). Anyway, less energy, more efficiency & great service.

was the saleslady at HN who showed me that the Miele used less water and electricity, plus she had one herself and said it was kinder on clothes than an upright agitator was. We paid $1999 on special. I have had the machine for nearly four months now and it is the best washing machine I have ever had. It is quiet, the spin cycle works brilliantly meaning I don't have to run my dryer for very long, and my clothes are not usually tangled in a ball or stretched. My last washing machine (Whirlpool made in USA) made my clothes grey with lint. Those same clothes have come out of the Miele bright and clean. I expected to see water halfway up the window but in fact even though some cycles are long, it uses much less water than expected but more efficiently too. I bought the big box of OMO front loader detergent at HN for $36 on the day I bought the machine, and I still have enough left after 4 months to do another two weeks worth of washing before replacing. Now I'm saving up to get the dryer that fits on top of this machine. I am hoping to get at least ten years out of this machine but reading around a lot of people said they got twice that from their machines. That would be a bonus.

Great! Can't live without! – Miele never fail to impress. From buying to service, nothing seems to ever be a problem. Will never go back to another brand of washing machine, by far the best ever. It wash clothes very well. The clothes are very clean. It takes very long to wash one load. It is very easy to use. It rinse well and operate resonantly quiet.

Very happy with this machine for the most part – A huge improvement on my Bosch front loader (top of the range). It spins without stopping! And it seems to wash well. I have noticed some suds in the rinse water though so seems the rinse function is not 100%. I like the "Short" option - reduces washing time for Cottons from 1.5 hours to 42 minutes. of the time as the clothes I wash are generally not dirty, just need freshening up.

I got this machine in a run-out sale at about $600 off the RRP. Don't think they are making this model anymore. The later models all seem to require that you use special Miele laundry detergents and if you complain about anything related to the machine and are not using those detergents they tell you to use their detergents! Hmmmm ........

Good product – It wash clothes very well. The clothes are very clean. It takes very long to wash one load. It is very easy to use. It rinse well and operate resonantly quiet. In team of features, I think it is like other wash machine, nothing special about it. Compare to other product, It is not cheap.

its been 24hrs and I should have got one way before this!!! – I got it yesterday after the other washing machine which made so much noise poorly designed and failed 6 times in 3 years.I've vowed no more cheapies. you get what you pay for!!!! I dont even know the miele is working its so quiet.does a fantastic job !!!. I'not going to get industrial deafness and my house isn't shaking

to the idea of the small amount of water that a frontloader uses, coming from a Hitachi top loader. I cheat by running everything on the gentle cycle (I like to see some water in the machine !). This machine is expensive but it looks like it is built to last and the Choice reliability results helped me in making the decision to buy this machine.

Best Buy! – I love my Miele W 5873 WPS. It cleans and rinses my clothes perfectly. My clothes do not get worn out from it and it is as silent as a mouse. I'm a married mother of one and having a good clothes washer is very important. My favorite feature is the cottons option. It does help a great deal. Thank you Miele for a wonderful buy!

Best product ever purchased – This is the only washing machine that has lasted for over 5 years. Love this product could not live with out it. Perfect wash every single time, never have to worry about clothes coming out with stains or if I have to wash by hand afterwards. Best investment ever strongly recommend!

Great – great machine, works perfect, i love miele. I have used it numerous times with no worries. I clean colours, whites, I wash about 6 times a week, average load is approx 5 kgs, customer service has been great. What a relief to have a machine that works perfectly and doesn't break!

Fabtastic washing machine – What a relief after putting up with an awful LG machine for years. Great program options, leaves clothes clean (I know this is what it's meant to do but it is great on all manner of stains) and I love the short cycle option. Is also efficient with detergent - we are using half the usual dose.

Disappointed – Having bought this machine in November 2013 I have ceased being starry eyed about it. Even connected to hot water takes 1 Hr 33 mins for a 60 degree wash. have now only found out from Miele servicesman who came earlier in the week that the door which is extremely hard to close has no adjustment to alter it. Cannot get woollen underlay in the door so had to go to a Laundremat. Have to use conditioner as towels come out so hard just so we can use them.

Very low and hard to see in drum if small articles like socks and hankerchiefs have been left behind. Tilted drum and larger opening would have been a better design. Only good thing is that is a lot quieter than my beautiful Maytag which is no longer made. Even with just two of us I have to wash more loads now to a get a clean wash. I run the maintenance program with vinegar which the speedy installation guys said was good.

Our Grandaughter bought a Beko just before I got the Miele and it has a lot of features which make it better than the Miele at a fraction of the price.

Impressed! – This machine is brilliant for its stability and quietness. I had to sit and watch it spin first time and was shocked at how super quiet it was compared to what I was used to. it brought out stains from my enjo tea towels that my Electrolux front loader could not remove. Clothes come out soft even after a 1600 spin speed. Easy to operate, looks great and performs brilliant, but this is what I would expect when paying this much for a machine!

Very solid, stable machine. Spins up to 1600rpm. I spin towels at 1000rpm and that does not wake my daughter sleeping in the next room (note our house is concrete slab construction).

I regularly use two cycles; cottons and mixed fibres. Always gets washes very clean.

Now four months old and running as well as when it was first delivered.

Very happy with Miele as a brand. Bought a coffee machine subsequent to the washer and it is manufactured to the same high quality.

the phone to talk through solutions with Miele, I think the long and the short of it is that this machine is not for me. I've had ruined necks on brand new expensive t-shirts, shrunk pants that were only worn twice, white tops that are no longer white and no matter what I turn the spin cycle down to on any setting I HAVE TO IRON EVERYTHING, including my sheets, which trust me I didn't used to do.

Time to stop arguing with the hubby and I'll be listing on eBay and gumtree by the end of this week.

so no shaking occurs. The door requires more than just a soft tap to close. Has a wash dial that can be rotated clockwise or anticlockwise. Has 1600rpm on some cycles which is terrific. Is it overpriced? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes

Better & Better – After having my original Miele front loader for 17 years, hassle free. One service, as I needed door seal replaced; due to child & scissors. Decided that time to find a younger model, water use, power use, noise, options of cycles etc. Now proud owner of a W 5873 WPS and can not find any critism of purchase. Happy, excited & know why I convinced my husband it is worth every cent. May the next 17 years of Miele washing bless me with its wonder.

Just buy it – I'll keep it short. If you can afford its price this machine is the best of the best and you'll be hard pressed to find something wrong with it or anything better out there for that matter. programs if you not happy with the standard ones, programs aren't too long, uses little detergent, cloths are nearly spined dry, does not rattle whatsoever when spinning (make sure you install it as flat as possible, use a spirit level), quality of wash is impeccable every time. so once again, just dig dip and buy it already. one drawback is that, for my taste is rather buuuutttttt-ugly. so typical made in Germany, will never win any design contest, ever, but will do what promised, reliable and diligently with overall quality never in question.

Excellent – Our clothes come out cleaner and drier. It is quiet and I like all the washing functions for the type of clothes.
