We have had MILLBOARD since 2012, they looked great for the first 12 months, then the wear started to show, dirt was difficult to wash off with soap and water and you can’t use a pressure washer on fibreglass composit. By year 10 the pattern had totally worn off. The price being 4 x times if not more than quality hardwood is an absolute CON. My… Read more

husband whose a landscape architect tried to claim 10 boards on the 20 year “warranty” at the 12 year mark. Their “20 year warranty” is a lie. All claims were rejected as stated below. As they state themselves, they expect the pattern to totally wear off. Buy REAL HARDWOOD and use lanotec or ORGANOIL both sides to protect the wood. Just don’t treat yr wood with and garbage from bunnings, these sit on top sealants dry wood out causing the surface to peel and crack.

“I spoke with our team regarding your claim.

Based on the date the boards were purchased, the level of wear and tear shown is within the typical range expected over time. As such, the issue does not fall within the scope of the product warranty.

Therefore, we will not be taking any further action on this case.

If you have any questions regarding this assessment, please let me know.

Many thanks.

With gratitude, [Name Removed] CONCEPT MATERIALS”

My rating is based on the company having a warranty that apparently guarantees the product won’t split or show fibres for 25 years - but when shown photographs of the product surface that is worn so badly it is showing fibres after 13 years, says that is normal wear and tear. Sure, 13 years isn’t a bad life for a deck, but it’s not what is advertised and not what you pay for.

Looks good but hot to touch! – Great option when you want the timber look but without the maintenance. We have used the composite timber for stairs and bench seating. Was told it was ok for direct sunlight but it can heat extremely hot in the direct sun all day in Australian summers and cause burning so not recommended for somewhere with pets or kids.

Has pros and cons – I purchased and installed our spa deck myself, so now I know a lot about this product. I want to give it 2.5 stars purely because the cost at almost 4x natural timber is it’s biggest con. The deck board top surface is nice visually and is great to walk on barefoot. It is reasonably soft and can be damaged easily on the long edge. It does get hot… Read more

in the sun and will burn your feet. We opted not to use the edging products as the price for deck snd facia boards were already high. Millboard is designed to use edging boards everywhere to get the best look and wearing. This meant we had exposed cut edges. We used the touch up paint but the colour isn’t quite right and cutting the material doesn’t create a smooth surface. The boards do vary in dimensions also which for the cost is not value for a manufactured product. It is easy to cut and fix, but keep force on the board and screw while fixing as the boards can lift. The top colour and surface is good quality but the long and short edges do vary in painting quality. This is why your almost forced to use edging boards. It is easy to clean and doesn’t seem to stain. This is why we chose it for a deck surrounding a spa. I would not use this product again at the price. If it were 1/2 the price I would give it 4 stars. Not vaue for money.

Is this a joke ?? – This stuff is rubbish. Within months of being installed the allegedly hard wearing surface, which looks like rubber paint when you see cross section, started coming off and exposing the ugly yellow fibreglass base. After a couple of years, pretty much had it where fully exposed to elements. Attempts to claim under warranty have led nowhere, with… Read more

arrogant dismissive response from the distributor who told me the yellow showing through 'was part of the look'. Although he took photos and advised he would send photos 'back to Britain' to the manufacturers after coming to my home to pretend to be helpful. So why send pictures if there is nothing wrong? Told me 'to keep it clean' Ahhhh, pardon ! Its meant to be miracle product with no maintenance !! Again and again I have asked for the 'paint' that is used to paint the ugly exposed yellow end cuts to try and cover the exposed fibreglass. I am just ignored by these arrogant rip off merchants. Utterly disgusted with this cheap garbage that cost an absolute fortune. Should have gone with the other product I was looking at. So to those who have provided 5 star reviews, see what you think in a couple of years. Purchased from Carrolls Timber Raymond Terrace, who also recommended the installer who did a pretty ordinary job. Both Carrolls and installer have washed their hands to help. Carrolls 'highly recommended' this rubbish, so beware of the dodgy sales pitch !! Ohh, it is so 'soft' the spacing between the joists has to be 400mm, not the standard 500mm. And if cut into shorter pieces, bows under weight. And cant be attached to metal joists, so for fire prone areas, you have to have metal joist, then attach timber joists to the metal to screw in the planks. If you need to take the planks off for any reason, good luck, as the screws are deep with a very small head that are meant to be covered by the 'soft' structure of these boards and arent able to be screwed into metal. Just garbage.

By far the best composite decking – By far the best composite decking on the market. Couldn’t be happier of the final product and how scratch resistant it is compared to others on the market. Fantastic service by the team as well!!

Absolutely amazing product - Cannot fault it – I’ve had Millboard installed for about 1 year now and I still absolutely love my deck as much as I did when it was first laid. The boards are everything I hoped for still to this day, it’s easy to walk on in the heat, the deck hasn’t moved since it’s been down and it doesn’t look like the other plastic composites around where you can tell it’s not… Read more

real timber. Any questions I had before and after buying Millboard, the distributors was more than happy to help me and even checked in to see how my project was coming along and if I was happy with the deck after installation.

Cannot fault the product or the company in any way, it is more expensive than other composites but you get what you pay for and Millboard is definitely worth the extra money.

If I ever move and have to do another deck I will definitely be using Millboard again.

Looks great, should last well, but installation was a nightmare – The company were great to deal with, it looks great down, but the product has a lot of fibreglass in the boards and you end up itching like crazy when you cut them and lay them. Also the screws to secure the boards down actually lifts the boards in the last 10mm as you drive them home. You need to back the screws off and re-drive them home to… Read more

pull the board snug to the joist. We were tossing up between Millboard and Timbertech Azek (both good quality, fully synthetic boards). We should have gone with the Azek.
