I don’t recommend it – Firstly, we booked the cat for a specific day and just realize they got it wrong and gave it a different day. We got an old car because the battery stopped suddenly out of nowhere and in our way back to the city to repost the gasoline, the battery stopped working in a traffic light in the middle of nowhere. Lucky enough, we got help from two nice men that help us.
Worried about the car stopping again, we couldn’t fill the gas.
We told Mitch about it. Got charged for the fuel not filled that is not an enjoyable experience when you are on holidays and the rental should take the responsibility of these fee. It’s not fair, we would’ve refill the fuel if the battery wouldn’t have given us any problem.
Friendly and ethical car hire company – I rented a kia picanto for 5 days. The car was immaculate on pickup. It was also great value and the staff were friendly, helpful and ethical. The only thing I’d do differently next time is hire a car that is higher off the ground. The picantos are quite low and easily scrape steep driveways or parking kerbs around Cairns.

Excellent experience with very good value for money ! – In particular we were impressive a staff named Phoebe who provided an amazing customer-focused service: she was a good listener, friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable of the local sightseeing. For instance, when she learnt we were driving to the Daintree forest, she could take her own initiatives to elaborate her own experience/itinerary and gave us comprehensive information which we definitely much needed.
We thought Pheobe made our experience with Mini car rentals a comfortable and enjoyable one!

Great car, great price, friendly – I got a great little car from these people, plus a free pick-up/drop-off to/from the cruise terminal, and lots of smiles and friendly advice. I used the car to access northern suburbs of Cairns, and also up to the crocodile farm near Port Douglas. The car seemed very new and very clean. I'd definitely use Mini Car Rentals again in Cairns, and recommend to anyone. They were also easy to find - on the main road out of Cairns - and the roads are on a grid pattern. Also, parking at the cruise terminal was handy - it was "pay and display" with no entry gate, which meant I could pay for the two days upfront ($10 per day), but come and go as I pleased. I tried other car rental agencies who quoted reasonable rates, but then wanted to charge me anything up to $1000 bond. (I don't mind paying a bond, but that's just too much for me to afford, as you might not get it back for 10 days.) Mini Car Rentals didn't actually charge me a bond, just took my credit card details if needed. After trying some online bookings with other places that fell through, I actually phoned Mini Car Rentals (I never want to use the phone! :-D) and it was easy and immediate to find out if they had cars available. So I recommend phoning as the best way.

Best car rental service! – Great car hire service in Cairns! Most affordable rates and able to plan my day trip with free maps of the local Cairns area and discount vouchers to local attractions. Will definitely use this company whenever I'm in Cairns and need a hire car to get around. Hiring a car in Cairns is definitely worth while - saying from experience.
