Mission Beach Camping and Caravan Park

Great location but sadly not impressed with their policy ethics! Staff great. Very little in the way of amenities. Nice new toilet and shower block and free washing machine and drier. No games room or sporting options. Right on the beach. Now for the negatives! We booked in on a weekly rate of $280 which was honoured for 3 weeks then the last week it was suddenly jumped up to nearly $400 and there was only us and one other caravan in the park! Then a tropical low developed with gusty winds predicated so management said we would have to get out because it was becoming into a cyclone. We did the sensible thing and departed after 3 nights. We had checked with staff and was advised we would be refunded less a 5% charge and thought this was fair. However when we went to get the refund they refused and said they never refund any unused nights! Robbery. Was rudely told to read confirmation send via email after after payment. Apparently staff need to read this as well. We were only departing due to the cyclone. We were told we could use the nights later and we should consider ourselves lucky we were being offered this. As an owner operator myself I find this attitude towards a guest appalling and frankly absolute greed. Fellow travellers please be aware of "escape parks"policies... There is no flexibility and once they have your money don't expect any flexibility even when there is a pending cyclone. We are not happy travellers and will be very hesitant to ever book with this group again.
