I came across the reviews here after I'd already ordered this fridge, and obviously became quite concerned about the stated loud whine it emitted from the compressor. Anyway it was too late to cancel the order, so went ahead and hoped for the best. While I certainly don't discount the experiences of others with this fridge, my experience does… Read more
not match theirs. This fridge is whisper quiet. You need to be standing right next to it to hear that the compressor is running. I've had it installed for five days now and there is no sign of a whine of any description. It is within about five metres of my living space so I certainly would have heard it. I would also add that this model, like many Mitsubishi fridges reviewed (by Choice and others) is all quality. It looks and feels solid and built to last. It's an excellent fridge.
This fridge was purchased as a factory second, so I was lucky to get a great deal - about $700-$800 discount at Home Clearance. A small ding in the bottom drawer, which is hardly noticeable.
The design of the fridge is excellent. Ice maker is superb as it doesn't need to be plumbed in. However the electrical whine is annoying if there is little ambient noise. Love the design, hate the whine. Show details
Terrific 400L fridge-freezer for smaller kitchens – Call it 4.5 stars. I had a near-20yr old 550L F&P that worked great but was physically too large for my new house, so after much research... Cue the 2020 factory built Mitsu. fridge, in use same year. Fantastic internal storage space for only 400L capacity. Love the fridge & freezer, only wish the veg drawer had adjustable temp as it's a little… Read more
warm for my liking (hence 4.5 stars). Very quiet running. Narrow, spot on 60cm wide, which was perfect for my little kitchen. Ice maker is simple, largely silent, easy to fill & clean.
The engineering carry-over from Mit. Heavy Industries is evident, especially so when comparing various makes on the showroom floor. Build quality A+
Brilliant design & build, 5stars if only for the lack of crisper drawer temp. control! 5yr warranty, zero issues in 4yrs of use, highly recommended.
Practically Perfect With One Gripe – I had seen this fridge at a friend's place and instantly noticed its unique styling and practicality. It's sleek, slim and wholly unassuming yet has a strong presence. I believe this model has been discontinued (replaced by the 450L version, I think) but it has been the perfect size for a single to two-person household. Although the middle… Read more
drawer is designed to keep keep veggies crisp, it's also the perfect size to keep a few bottles of white or mixers if you're feeling like a gin and tonic or bourbon and Coke.
The top compartment is a good size and the shelves are adjustable - they even split in half so you can store taller items/bottles etc without having to remove the entire shelf. The lighting is sufficient and the temperature dial is easy to reach. Doors and draws open and close as expected and with ease.
A standout feature is the in-built ice cube maker. I always try to avoid fridges that need to be plumbed into the wall, so to have the ice cube maker self-contained is truly awesome. Fill it up with water, put it back in the compartment and boom - ice cubes (it make take a few hours because of physics).
However, if I had to nitpick at anything, it's that the freezer compartment doesn't have a light, which is mostly fine unless you live in a space where natural light doesn't fill your kitchen or don't you always have the lights on. That said, the freezer space is pretty generous and has two compartments - as well as the ice-cube tray and included ice scoop (can you tell I love the ice-cube making function?).
It runs quiet and keeps stuff cold. And makes its own ice. Highly recommend.
NOISY!!! I Love the look and feel but I'm tearing my hair out from the high pitched noise – I bought this fridge about a month ago. I was careful to read the reviews on this fridge, but WOWEE! An almost constant high pitched noise is emitted from the back of it. It's so bad that I shut the fridge off in order to tolerate eating dinner at my table. I can't be in the room with it for long. Update: I have measured the high pitched noise by… Read more
matching it to a tone, and it appears to waiver between 467Hz and 477Hz. It measures 36db at 3 metres distance. It is nearly constant, in my experience. It is not drowned out by the sound of the fan, which itself sounds fine.
The interior of this fridge is beautiful. Everything fits. I took the half-shelves out because I didn't need them and I wanted more tall space. There's not much adjustment option for the shelves, but oddly, the levels it has works for me. I love the ice maker. The temperature control works great so far, and there is a luxurious amount of space in the freezer drawer. The exterior is beautiful, though I think Mitsubishi should have put grey plastic bands along the tops of the drawers instead of bright chrome, because finger prints are too obvious on chrome strips.
But I'm writing this review so others will be prepared, if they choose to purchase this fridge, about the noise. Mitsubishi, what were you thinking to put this in the interior of a house?
Great Buy – This is the best fridge I have owned. The seperate crisper draw works well. It is quiet when running and storage fits my need perfectly. The ice maker works well without the fuss of some fridges. Have had this model for over a year so have had time to fully review. Show details
Excellent fridge. Door sheves break easily, but easy to replace – Greast design. Easy to seperate and organise different styles of food, meat, veggies cheeses etc. *Very narrow for tight spaces. *multiple hight/width options for many fridge gap sizes. *No plumbing required for icemaker. * external vegie drawer Just refill the easy refill tank at front and fridge automatically drops ice into the ice tray. Needs fefilling every couple of days. Show details
Best fridge I've ever owned, hands down – Things I love about this fridge: It looks sooo good in my new home - very stylish. Food stays super cold. Love the separate fruit/veg drawer. It's whisper quiet when running. The automatic ice cube maker is incredible. Heaps of room in the freezer. Love that there's plenty of storage spaces for everything. Show details
A great fridge ruined by poor LED lighting – I wish I could give this fridge a higher rating, but the lighting is horrible. There's a vertical strip of LEDs placed on the rear wall of the main compartment. The LEDs glare in your face when you open the fridge, and at the same time don't provide sufficient light for your items. Everything is in shadow. If the LEDs were 'warm white' colour… Read more
(more towards the colour of traditional fridge lights), perhaps it might not look so stark and gloomy.
The silly LED placement means if you place any items in the middle of the shelves, you will greatly reduce the already poor light. Lighting is one thing you can't see when buying a fridge, because most fridges are not plugged in at the store unless they're top-of-the-range units. I didn't expect it to be so poor, especially after seeing other similar-sized fridge brands that have better LED lighting. And of course, Mitsubishi's advertisement images for this fridge are basking in beautiful light, with every item on the shelf perfectly lit.
Apart from the lighting, I really like this fridge. I love that the bottom two sections are drawers, which makes it particularly easy to rummage around in the freezer. I wasn't sure if the ice maker would get any use, but it has actually proven itself to be very convenient and we use it all the time. Because we don't have to mess with ice trays, it's much quicker and easier to add ice to drinks and even tap water.
The vertical side handle/indent on the main door is also very convenient rather than just a bottom handle. We purposely chose this version (CX) instead of the glass door version (CGX), since the glass door model did not have this side handle.
The CX series has been replaced in 2022 (such as the MR-CX450ER instead of MR-CX450EJ). Mitsubishi Electric advised me that they are essentially the same overall model aside from some very slight differences.
If it weren't for the lighting, I'd give this 5 stars. I really like the 3 tier, bottom mount design with drawers, and it was very difficult finding another fridge like this that wasn't ridiculously large. So far we haven't had any problems with shelving or issues with cooling. But every time I open the fridge, I'm greeted by that horrible lighting.
Disappointed big time – Bought this fridge on the basis of reviews for it being VERY quiet-well I just wasted $1899, it's not quiet, it’s VERY NOISY - has an annoying intermittent high pitched industrial electric motor sound of varied volumes and a continuous low frequency sound you hear when seated too near the motors on a jet - it permeates through my kitchen and… Read more
living area to the end of the room for the entire 45 minutes its running, shutting down and shutting up for 15minutes if you don’t open the door. It just makes me wonder how many favorable product reviews are fake. I would not recommend buying this fridge if you hate noise, for those that don't mind noise you can buy other brands for half the price. DB ratings is a bad indicator of how noisy a fridge is because various annoying frequencies heard can be more audible than others but are of lower volume in terms of DB. Also, the delivery guys took it out of the box for me but i never noticed two slight indentations in the silver metal doors visible under certain light until they were gone. I want a refund.
Love the ergonomic drawers! – Can't fault this fridge after 4 months. It's compact and ergonomic. We the drawers for the fruits & veg and freezer. I can't imagine going back to using a regular fridge. It's enough for a family of two and a half and keeps all of our food cold. The ice maker is very convenient and gets a lot of use. From looking at other reviews I can see that… Read more
the door shelves might crack if you try to force large bottles in there or too many objects as it appears to be made from a brittle plastic.
We have not had any issues though. If the above sounds OK to you I would highly recommend this fridge.
Perfect size for small fridge cavity space! – Needed to purchase a small fridge for my new apartment which has a very small fridge cavity space. This one fits perfectly and looks great. I love, love, love the separate vegetable drawer - so convenient. Show details
great product – This is a great fridge. Whisper quiet and compact. It’s my first bottom mount freezer and while it has a smaller fridge space, I have to keep reminding myself it has a separate fruit and vege crisper which is actually quite large. It takes a bit of getting used to but so far it’s all good. Show details

Bought this fridge in April 2021. Through the freezer drawer everything is easier accessible – Temperature is consistent across all compartments and the fridge is really easy to open and close, we wanted a highly efficient fridge and it is very efficient. I can highly recommend!
They've thought of everything! – Best fridge I've ever bought! How the times have changed! I love the design of this fridge and how much attention to detail has gone into the practical compartments and features. There is a large section for general fridge items, a second draw for fruits and vegetables, an ice section where you can store thing like ice bricks, a large freezer… Read more
draw and an ice maker!
This is the best thought-out fridge I have ever purchased
This fridge was bought for an apartment and I originally thought id be stuck with some small basic fridge however when this fridge met my specifications I was ecstatic!
Absolutely love it and high recommend!
very happy with my new fridge – amazing fridge, lots of space , the veggie drawer is so good , the ice maker is a big plus , inside is very well distributed the spaces , totally recommend! it's even better for us as our kitchen is small and we were struggling to find a model that has enough litres for 600mm wide. Good fridge but vegetable drawer not so great – I want to love this fridge, the fridge section is great and a good size (although two plastic shelves broke yesterday, hoping for a painless replacement). The freezer feels a bit small but is manageable and the ice maker is awesome. But the vegie crisper is the biggest let down. Having a separate draw for the crisper is ingenious and I love the… Read more
layout but and here is the but, it doesn't keep my vegies crisp. All my vegetables end up limp and terrible. My brocolli stays crisp for about 2 days at best and my poor carrots and cucumbers are almost inedible within a week. I have tried putting a cup of water in the draw to add humidity but in the end I have resorted to adding a tupperware fridge container which takes up space and makes the whole draw not very functional. I want to love this but I really don't
disappointing – Not overly cold and the shelves keep breaking. We are on our second round of shelving. Shelves are cheap and not good quality plastic. The front of the fridge look cheap and scratches, dents easy. Not happy with the purchase, however one positive is the ice maker! That has been designed welln and is a geat fuction. Show details
Love our fridge! – We've had the fridge since April 2018 and it's been great. Love the vege drawer. This is the best fridge I've ever owned. It is compact but if you don't need a huge fridge I would highly recommend this model. For the prize and the features - it's great value. Show details
I love this fridge so much... I bought two :-) – I absolutely love this fridge. So much space considering the liters capacity and the vegetable drawer is the best invention ever. I loved it so much i bought a second one (as we had extended family with us and needed more room). I see they have a 492L model now which looks great. I highly recommend this fridge!!! Show details
I love this fridge - great design and good-looking – I haven't ever bought a fridge (always had hand-me-downs) so I was super pleased when I selected this one - I have found it to be an excellent design. Its very ergonomic, with the things you need most being easy to reach for. There is lots of room in the shelves inside, and lots of extra little compartments to keep things tidy, such as the extra… Read more
shelf in the veggie compartment, which is so thoughtful because then you can place the more tender veggies, like tomatoes and lettuce, away from heavy veggies, like pumpkin. Same with the freezer - the little top shelf is great for things you need to grab often. I LOVE the ice-maker too, its working really well and is so quiet, we don't hear it. Finally, this fridge looks GOOD. The "black stainless" is darker than normal stainless and doesn't seem to show finger-marks as badly. Its got a modern, industrial look about it. Definitely five stars from me :)
I want to marry this fridge! – I love pretty much everything about this fridge, from the ice making without needing to be plumbed, to the easy glide drawers! I adore the middle humidity drawer which keeps veg fresher. The only downside,is the split shelf, which I'd never use... but I guess, handy to have it needed. Yes,it makes a few new and strange noises, but nothing compared… Read more
to my old clunker 20yr old Westinghouse workhorse fridge. Yes, it was a tad expensive, but you truly get what you pay for! With shiny black front panels and matt black sides, this fridge is a stunning piece of art in my kitchen! I am utterly in Love with it!

Excellent freezer – I bought it six months ago. I've read some negative review about the noise issues, but my one works just fine. It's a perfect fridge. I even use its manual ice maker is spite I've got another, big LG french door fridge with automatic ice maker. It's because LG doesn't dose the needed quantity ice properly. The Mitsubishi MR-CX402EJ isn't the cheapest fridge, but it's a really magnificent device in the house. Show details
Very good, but it's got a rattle noise – I bought this because I like Mitsubishi....all my Aircon systems are Mitsubishi. It's a good frij, well designed, although better use of space possible (see Benito's review on Appliances Online site). So, overall I'm happy but the motor has developed a bit of a rattle that's getting increasingly annoying. I guess I need to call their customer… Read more
service.
I called their customer service and it was properly fixed within 7-10 days.....very quiet since then.
Excellent Fridge for under $1,000 – I bought this to replace a faithful 25 year old Fisher and Paykel. It is exceptionally good looking. The doors and drawers are easy to open. The vegetables cooler and freezer drawers make storing and getting things so easy. The shelf design is good so you can fit a lot of things in it. Even has an automatic ice-maker that does not require… Read more
plumbing, just fill a plastic container in the fridge compartment full of water and ice is made in the freezer. Very quiet and cold. With a factory 5 year warranty (10 years on the motor) you really can't go wrong. I am very happy with it. Just kicking myself for not getting the red one (got the steel one) which is stunning.
Perfect for a small family – This fridge looks fantastic and fits far more in it than I expected. The best feature is the internal ice maker. I wanted a small fridge with a smooth door that could make ice but didn’t think it existed. It does! The seperate fruit and veg draw saves loads of room inside the fridge. I’ve had it for several months. No problems mechanically and no issues fitting everything in the fridge but I do use a chest freezer for bulk stuff. Priced right. Show details
Love the way you can organise your food! – I love this fridges because it has different compartments with regulated temperatures. I have my vegetables divided from the cheeses/salumi and when I buy fish there's a special compartment. Love also the ice maker. Perfect for a small family Show details
A simply wonderful and practical fridge – My sister had a Mitsubishi 3 door - the best designed fridge I had ever seen, so I bought one too when it came time to upgrade. I love the separate vege draw and the visibility of everything stored in the upper compartment. I also chose Onyx black - paid a bit extra but it looks very stylish in a white kitchen. Show details
Excellent – Very quiet Great storage Love the veggie drawer Easy to keep clean This is easily the best fridge I have ever owned. Perfect for two adults. Being bale to separate the veggies form the rest of the products is excellent as it allows us to better organise our meals. The freezer takes a bit to get used to, but it works well. And id I mention how quiet it is. It just purrs. Show details
Love it! – We couldn't live without this fridge now that we have it! The continual ice maker is unique to Mitsubishi fridges in the way that it doesn't require plumbing and makes a continual amount of ice in the tray inside the freezer. The dedicated vegetable and fruit drawer is great for keeping odours from other meat and foods from your fresh produce. Show details
Best Fridge ever – I used to have an LG fridge, till last year, decided to upgrade. The best decision, ever made. This Mitsubishi fridge is excellent. It's got a separate vegetable drawer, just for veggies and an Ice maker. Unbelievable, ice-maker in such a small fridge. Maintains good temperature in all the compartments. It is quiet. It need a bit of work on cleaning, which i don't mind. Show details
