Great buy – Probably the most astute purchase I ever made. Bought a '05 VRX AWD in '07 for $15,500 (almost a third of the new price!) with 59,000 km on the odo, looking & going like new, smooth powerful engine, handles any road, plenty of legroom, big boot. Only tyres & brake-pads & annual service. Now done 267,000 & finally blew the heater core. Fixed that & intend keeping it going for a while yet. Show details

Gotta Love This Car – I have a 2005 TW VR-X. I LOVE IT! It has tons of grunt when needed and can also be a Sunday crawler when you want it to be. The interior isn't as modern as other cars of its age but who cares? It's a Magna and Magna owners know what they want out of a car. The engine is powerful enough to tow with and the transmission doesn't change gears… Read more

when not needed unlike other cars.

The headlights light up EVERYTHING on the road at night (especially the high beam) and the VR-X styling on the dash makes it look like its out of a European car.

As can be expected with a V6, fuel can be a concern but it's all in the way you drive.

Great car – I have owned my magna for almost four years now, I have done 130,000 ks, vehicle has done 220,000 ks all up. Only replaced tyres and brakes. Easy to drive with good vision out all windows. Have towed campervan easily no problems. Highly recommended for a first car. Probably a bit thirsty for city driving as you have a big six cylinder motor.… Read more

Average about 9.5 litres per 100ks country driving....just purrs along on the freeways. Not much road noise.plenty of go for passing

Love that car – WHAT A CAR... I cannot seem to kill it... I put king springs and sacks shocks and just the services as req'd. I have towed my small caravan for thousands of K's. It is so good to me this car and when it dies I will replace it, I have been saying that for 3 years now... it just won't die. It drives so well Nothing wrong with this car believe me Show details

Honest, Under-rated Vehicle – Under-rated car. Reliable, Cheap to own, Surprisingly powerful. Fuel economy is a bit average (get about 10L/100kms there abouts) but not too bad for a big 6. Only real problem with it, I find is the turning circle is probably worse then any other car I've driven, which makes it a pain to park and navigate around small areas like shopping centre… Read more ·  1

car parks and such, but you do get used to it. Very comfortable to drive and be a passenger in. Seats 5 fairly comfortably. The boot is quite massive, we've taken this thing on holidays and had no trouble fitting all our stuff in.

Drove from Bathurst to Melbourne (9-10hr drive) in this thing with cruise control on the whole way and it was really comfortable.

If buying, make sure you get one that's got the service history with it and make sure you keep up to date with the services and you shouldn't have any worries (Look after it and it'll look after you).

It is a shame Mitsubishi in Australia came to an end and these are no more. Reliable, Comfortable, Lots of room, Plenty of power, Cheap to own Turning circle is very large

Magnificent Magna! – I have owned my TW ES Series 2 Magna for 3 years. I am the second owner and payed $11,000 for it with a mere 60,000km on the odometer. Having now covered 108,000km (still low for it's year) it has presented absolutely no major issues, with only it's scheduled regular servicing which has been quite a reasonable price. It's 2nd pair of brake pads… Read more

from new are only now at 50% and it's 2nd set of tires are at 25%. Very good from an 8 year old vehicle.

It feels safe and composed on the road and provides more power than I need in every situation I have encountered such as passing and steep hills, it is also very competent at towing a heavy trailer. The engine and transmission are smooth and the engine sounds nice with no vibration or 'thrashing' sound when accelerating hard. The car handles seamlessly on nearly every kind of road, even windy roads but the ride quality can become a little rough on un-even surfaces. It is also economical for a 6 cylinder, I average 10l/100km.

The interior of the vehicle leaves a little bit to be desired in terms of appearance, although it is packed with many features. Most of the controls are easy to use, although the power window controls are located in the centre console out of view and hard to reach, at times this causes some frustration. Other than that everything is good, the climate control A/C system works very well and the 6speaker CD player sounds very good. It has deep bass and a nice amount of treble at loud volume with no distortion.

Overall I am very happy with this car and plan to keep it for a long time. Good fuel economy, exterior styling, reliability Window controls

Very happy, excellent car to drive – This is a wonderful car to drive. I just bought a 2004 Mitsubishi Magna VR-X TW Series 2 in Sable black in WA. It had 76,XXXkms and FSH and a 5 Speed manual trans. This is my first car. It cost me $9,000 (I know its a little more than average price) but it is worth it. It handles very well and I am looking forward to many more years of Magna… Read more

ownership!

The only niggle I had with it was the drivers electric seat didn't work, but it was most likely a fuse so easy enough to fix. I also recommend all buyers to join the Aussie Magna Club online forums. This is very useful for problems that might occur or could answer some of your questions.

So, all in all, this is a wonderful first car or an even better second family car! go ahead and buy one. Space, low-end grunt, lovely suspension, smooth 5 speed gearbox, exhaust on VRX Drivers electric seat (just my car), length (pain in multi-level parking centres in CBD)

Magna 2005 TW VRX – Have had the car for 6 years, 130k, no issues so far, very responsive drive, safe, reliability top notch, as others have said the 5sp auto is excellent, 7 flat 0-100km, 15.5sec quarter mile, 11.5l /100 mostly around town driving. Excellent overtaking on highway, up to 140 at the drop of a hat. Handles excellent around corners, sound system is… Read more

2005 TW VR-X owner. Loves that car – The looks of this car first caught my eyes. When I test-drove it, it was really fun to drive. I did not hesitate to buy this second hand. The VR-X muffler makes it sound like an Aston and overall drive is never boring especially interstate trips. It is a car that included many features other cars (falcodores) did not offer for something… Read more ·  1

manufactured in 2005 as standard. Some of which are "guide me home" Headlamp delay function (I accidentally found out about this feature in the manual), comprehensive trip computer, driver's power seat and climate control.

Apart from standard features, the VR-X had adaptive 5 speed auto transmission, sports suspension and muffler, bodykit and mags and sports seat trim with 6 speakers in front and a couple of "2 ways" at the back.

It is fuel efficient for its engine size. From a full tank, have never gotten worse than 13.5l/100kms and did a best of 8l/100kms. We usually average 12L/100kms.

I did a major service incl timing belt and all fluids changed and was still less than $1000.

Although I had a peace of mind with 5 yr warranty, only my rear screen mounted brake light fell, which they gladly fixed.

I am happy and am not in a hurry to sell this. Its redbook pricing is very underrated for what fantastic car it is and has been. Sound system, Responsiveness, 5yr warranty, Magna Forum. Cabin air-recirculation is controlled by A/C system, rear seats do not fold down.

Excellent – An exceptional car at an unbeatable price. Performance, power, comfort, handling - I purchased my first one in 1996 and traded it in 2000 with 336,000kms on the clock it was a great car, my second one was traded in 2004 with 295,000kms and my current onepurchased in May 2004 currently has 187,000kms on it. These cars are made to last and the more… Read more

you drive them the better they get - will purchase the new 380 in December- have test drove it for a weekend and loved it. Al ot of power under the front wheels - would not recommend for new driver. Have been booked many times as if you don't turn on the cruise control the ride is so smooth you will speed.

Good – Good car for medium trips and great handling. Magna VR-X: Nice sporty sounding tone - good for the ego! Super responsive so great for country driving as it gives confidence for overtaking. Reliable - have been driving a new one for > 18 months. Not as big as Commodore - boot and front cabin not as roomy and not as comfortable for 4 adults to go on… Read more

long trips but then they don't clam it is a big car, only a medium. Bit more thirsty than Commodore too but then it it is more responsive!

Good – I bought mine latest Magna in march 2010. I had previously owned one in 2003 and knew what to expect when I bought this one. They never seem to get the problems that a Ford or a Holden seem to encounter and are a pleasure to drive. Good speed of the mark for quick takeoffs when entering traffic in the city. Speed also comes in handy when doing… Read more

highway driving and you need to overtake. The turning circle seems to be huge but if you have every driven a Toyota Camry then you will wonder what I am talking about. The paint seems to fade over time.

Excellent – We have now owned out Mitsubishi Magna for over one year, but we have also owned this type of car before. We have never had any problems with this car apart from the resale price which is virtually nothing because it is a very mass produced car. The reason that we like this car is that it is bigger than a hatch back, but a slightly bit smaller… Read more

than a family car which makes it easy to park anywhere. This car is very reliable and we are very happy with our decision to buy this type of car again. I would recommend it to anyone. size

Excellent – I love my car. It has a huge boot, which I can fit my pram plus other baby items, and still have room for the shopping bags etc. It drives so well, feels and is incredibly safe on the roads. I have the AWD model - and it is the best car I have driven. You cannot feel more safe on the roads, I don't believe there is a safer car to drive - well… Read more

certainly not in the price range anyway. Drives brilliantly - and is a fast car. The rear break like on the rear window kept falling down, had the glass replaced and it still kept doing it. I think it took 3 times being replaced before it stayed up and no more problems.

Excellent – Great Power! Love it. 2005 model is Great to thrash around in! Lots of power! I like to take it to about 5000rpm normally but revving to the redline is the highlight of this car! I bet a commodore once too! Nothing I can pick! Show details
