I wish to write this post to warn others about this dodgy company. Everytime they called I was told something different. They took many months to sort our roof, they sent around 7 people to measure my property and cannot follow simple instructions for example please phone me as I need to lock the dogs up so they can measure the back shed these… Read more

instructions were relayed may times via messages phone calls And emails and still not able to follow. They then subcontract the work out to others who are also incompetent and after all people who came to measure the roof 9 in total they still were unable to get it right and had to order more material. Didn’t come back to clean up their mess. The whole Process was appalling.

I feel it’s important to share my experience to warn others. MK3 Builders attended my property after a pipe burst that ultimately resulted in extensive remediation and a full rebuild. At their initial inspection, they grossly underestimated the scope of works, insisting that only a single kitchen cabinet needed to be removed. This proved to be… Read more

completely incorrect, as widespread water damage and mould were later discovered throughout the kitchen structure and subfloor, requiring a complete strip-out and major remediation.

What was most concerning was the dismissive and unprofessional manner of the representative. I was spoken over, my concerns were brushed aside, and I was even told that black mould “was not a thing”, which is both incorrect and deeply concerning given the well-known health and structural risks involved.

Based on this experience, I contacted my insurer and formally requested a different builder be appointed. The new builder was professional, thorough, and listened carefully to my concerns, which only reinforced how poor the initial assessment from MK3 Builders had been.

I am extremely grateful I changed course when I did, as following MK3 Builders’ guidance would have led to serious long-term consequences. I strongly recommend that anyone dealing with water damage or mould seek multiple independent opinions and exercise extreme caution before engaging MK3 Builders.

If I could put 0 stars I would. Assessor for Allianz following landslide from cyclone. Stated no damage to building - you couldn’t see the building because of the dirt sitting against it from the landslide. They assume no damage as they couldn’t be bothered to remove the dirt to thoroughly assess . Been with Allianz for over 10yrs and never made a claim. Claim rejected based on lazy assessment. Show details

Unprofessional – Westpac insurance “Alliance” sent out MK3 to inspect our roof for hail damage after a hail storm on Boxing Day. The inspection was rushed and he questioned how I knew there was damage to the roof. Weeks later I was advised that my claim had been declined. I then had an independent contractor inspect the roof and he took photos and used chalk to… Read more

mark the damaged areas of the roof. I went back to Alliance with my findings and disputed their report. They sent a different person from MK3 out with a roofer, they were supposed to meet with my contractor to go over the findings together. However, they did not wait. The roofer sent by MK3 climbed up the ladder stood on the roof for less than 2 mins did not take any photos or make any notes. I sent a text to the contractor advising him that MK3 were already on the roof. When I went back outside they were packing up and getting in their cars to leave. Extremely unprofessional. I don’t know why Westpac use this Company. If I had read the reviews before I would have asked for a different Company. I wonder if they get a kick back for refusing claims. Eventually my claim was accepted 5 months later no thanks to MK3.

Very happy to be back in our home – We lodged a claim with Westpac after our home was flooded and Westpac appointed MK3 who sent out an assessor, who was very thoughtful and respectful to our family. required to stay in our rental longer. Initially we were very angry about this situation, however, the consistent communication from our assessor throughout the entire process was incredible. We have now been back in our home for two months and extremely grateful as we have several neighbours who are far from moving back into their properties, and we have heard some horror stories about their claims handling, some of which are insured with Westpac but have a different assessing company.

Our assesses name was Ben and we are extremely grateful for all he and his team have done for our family, we could not believe after being home for over one month Ben called to check in and make sure we are settled in and have no issues. Even know we physically met Ben only a number of times. The constant communication felt like we have known him for ever.

We are forever grateful for everything you have done. The last 12 months has been extremely hard on everyone and we appreciate everything that you have done for us. So thank you from our family.

highly qualified builders I personally hired to inspect our property, also being a builder myself it is clear to see they are just trying there best to avoid acceptance of my claim. -List goes on but for the sake of trying to keep it short to summarize poor communication and handling in all aspects and more like a circus in most respects. They are a joke. They fail to fulfill their obligations as required from westpac. I suspect dishonesty within their relation to Westpac as mentioned from a previous review another person made here.

I took this claim to the AFCA and only then did things start to progress but was left to the very last day allowed by the AFCA I should have went to the AFCA alot sooner.

Only verbal and very limited information provided, bad communication over the phone with the mk3 building company westpac hire to handle our assessment. State manager hung up on me twice, so I had to call back talk to other staff that had better customer service skills to discuss claim not what you would expect from a state manager.

MK3 Westpac / Transparency - read through to the end pls – According to Part 3, Section 21 of the General insurance Code of Practice, insurers have an obligation to, “be honest, efficient, fair, transparent, and timely in our dealings with [customers]”. This review brings into question Westpac’s alignment to this standard. I have a home and contents policy with Westpac. After the 2022 floods, my home… Read more

was extensively damaged. and essentially needs to be gutted and replaced - anyone who is renovating, or building knows that this costs is upwards of 400k given the prices for building materials and labour at the moment.

Westpac sent out an assessor to ascertain the extent of damage to my home. Westpac insurance outsources its assessors from a company called MK3. A representative from MK3 conducted the assessment. I was surprised to learn that MK3’s assessment and scope of works was substantially below what I knew to be realistic. I am a reasonable person – I know that insurers need to save as much money where they can, and customers want to gain as much money as they can. This is a normal interaction between any business and client. A few thousand dollars is expected. But this was an astonishingly different. So, I conducted my own research to find out more about MK3 and Westpac's relationship.

These are some of the facts I found - you can make a judgement on those facts for yourselves.

1. The General Manager of MK3 previously held the senior role as ‘National Claims Manager’ for Westpac Insurance for nearly 9 years. 2. The current sole director of MK3 is a licensed builder, but his licence says, "only for contracts not requiring home warranty insurance" on the public register. This means he has not been approved by an insurer and is unable to offer home warranty insurance on his work. 3. I checked to see if MK3 had other ‘boards’ or industry groups that could provide third party feedback on their processes. I was unable to locate any.

For anyone who has been through a claim, you will know that the amount of money you get from your insurer to fix your house is dependent on the assessor’s report. Assessors tell insurance companies how much it will cost to repair your damaged home. Homeowners are dependent on assessors. As such, assessors have a sort of ‘positional authority’ over the fate of customers. Given this, one would hope that assessor would provide neutral and realistic assessments on damage claims. Let’s say that the assessor tells the insurance company that your scope of works can be undertaken for $100,000. As a customer, you are told that you have two choices: You can use Westpac’s building company who has promised to undertake the work for 100k, or you can take the 100k as a pay out and use your own preferred builder. What happens if the 100k you were offered is unrealistic and every builder tells you that it will cost 200k to fix your house? Well, you realise that you didn’t really have much of a choice after all: you are, more or less, forced to use the insurance company’s builder. What if the assessor (MK3) was also the builder? Gosh.

You can find this information for yourself. It is available to the public on the ASIC website https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/ (I paid over $100 to download ALL of the historical ASIC records on MK3 including previous owners, changes in ABN etc). You can also check public Linkedin profiles and information about licencing at https://www.licencecheck.nsw.gov.au/.

And The Winner For Best Roof Repair Is----------Yes! It's Mk3 – After the Halloween Storm October 20 in Springfield Lakes Qld we were invaded with deliveries of scaffolding and roofing materials and being a person who needed a roof repair I spent weeks and weeks watching roofs being replaced as I walked and drove all around the suburb. What I saw really frightened me. Roofing left on front lawns for 2 months… Read more

or more, men putting scaffolding up laughing and swearing when a large pole fell between 2 relatively new cars on a driveway and often seeing roofing men thinking it was a huge joke when roofing sheets thrown just missed a car driving along the street. Loud thumping music, men swearing so loud kids walking home from school could hear it. That was bad enough but it got worse. The cowboy roofing guys left footpaths and the environmentally protected koala bush across the road full of their rubbish, if you were lucky you had a skip left in your front yard for 2-3 months. I'm 70 and now on my own so one day my car kept yelling at me - tyre pressure! I rang my son and he said look at your tyres so I did but they are low profile and they didn't look flat. But yes he had to rescue me because I had 2 nails from roofs repairs. Two other neighbours got flat tyres too. When it was my turn to get my roof repaired I was terrified and wanted my son to take days off work as I was scared of the tradesmen. My son refused saying I had to learn, just like for Mother's Day I got a tool box with tools to learn how to use. But guess what! Somebody was looking after me (sorry it wasn't Westpac - I agree A.R. Great idea of yours cancelling Westpac insurance) I got MK3 and they were absolutely incredible. Paul the State Manager kept me informed regularly and I had roof mounted scaffolding that didn't ruin my artificial grass, the roof guys were nicer than my brothers. They worked so very hard in the hot sun and pushed themselves to get the job done. The roof boss Peter made sure the sheeting was removed every day and Peter was the best weather predictor better than our Qantas pilot mate. OMG! all done in 2 days and the place looks exactly the same as it did before. With MK3 you won't need to put new turf down, your car will be safe, and you'll feel like something good happened in your life for once. Thank you to MK3 and Peter and his boys. My son got his roof done with MK3 too and enjoyed helping the guys. I would recommend MK3 to anyone needing roof repairs. THEY'RE THE BEST!

Incompetent company who cannot fix a roof, attended 5 times still leaks – Our home and contents insurance company uses MK3 to manage claims. The roof of our house was badly damaged in a storm in Nov 2019 and MK3 came to repair the roof. leave contact details or full name, they were caught stealing our tarp which was lying in our yard without asking us first. (who knows what else they helped themselves to). This is their ethical standard (or the lack of). With the actual work, it was shocking which is supported by the fact that there were 5 leaks since the roof was repaired (and is still leaking as we speak). Other tradesmen had pointed out to us a long list of defects they have left, amongst those were: no weep holes left on roof ridge; flashing applied on dirty tiles and therefore came off in just a few months; pointing applied on dirty tiles and has cracks; more than 1 colour used to point the roof resulting in patchy look. It makes anyone wonder if the tradesmen were suitably qualified. What makes it worse was, when we asked for license details of the roofer, they told me it was not on their records... This has dragged on for 9 months, roof still leaks and no one is getting a good night’s sleep, especially in such a wet 2020. This company is a mega rip off. Stay as far away as possible.
