installed, modern sola have agreed they are covered under warranty but I’ve been waiting forever for them to get back to me, their local agent came straight out did a report but even he has not heard back from them, I had an independent inspection done at my own cost the panels are covered in cracks and some have blown out the technician told me this was due to the rough handling as they were thrown up on the roof

LIES. ABSOLUTE RIP-OFF. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY – On Aug. 2017, a salesman from Modern Group knocked on our door and offered a 2.3 kW solar system, with the "so-called" best and most energy efficient solar panels (monocrystalline) in the market, but with a cheap but "so-called" reliable Solapowa inverter for $5,000. of 4 adults in our house), with an allowance for future installation of ducted air-conditioning as we currently don't have air-conditioning yet that time. We told him that we plan to have ducted air-conditioning in the future, and we want to have the same savings like my parents' house (my parents who live with my 2 adult siblings pay only $50 to less than $100 per bill with their 4 kW solar system from Eurosolar). The salesman promised that we will be experiencing the same savings even with just the 2.3 kW system. He kept on insisting that we don't need a bigger solar system because the solar panels that they are providing are very energy efficient. Also, he said that if we have a bigger solar system, we'll not gain much while we give almost free energy back to the grid.
LIES! After two months of installing the solar system from Modern Solar, our first electricity bill (covering Sept. 1 to Nov. 1) was around $305. We immediately called the salesman and complained why we're still having such high bills despite having the solar system installed. The salesman said that it was often raining over those months and there wasn't enough sunshine. We waited for the next bills covering the summer season (WHEREIN THERE IS NOT MUCH RAIN AT ALL), but the lowest bill we had was $180 considering we don't even have air-conditioning yet!!! This was very frustrating after paying a hefty $5,000 for a solar system that couldn't give us the savings that we're expecting. Clearly, our 2.3 kW system is not giving us enough and will be very insufficient if we add air-conditioning in the future.
2) He also promised that they will optimize the position of the panels in our roof, in a way that we will get the maximum sunlight during the day.
LIES! They put all our solar panels into just one side of our roof (east side only). A lot of people told us, even from different solar energy providers, that they should have put some panels to the west side to maximize the sunlight in the afternoon.
3) He also promised that our solar system will have a free wi-fi device where we can track daily the energy generated from the panels via our phone.
LIES! There wasn't any free Wi-Fi device! After installation of our solar panels, we were told that we have to pay additional fee for that Wi-Fi device.
4) He also promised that we can always reach him if something goes wrong with the solar system or if it's not meeting our expectations.
LIES! We tried contacting the salesman again after receiving our high electricity bills during summer, but he never responded to our text messages and calls since then! We tried ringing Modern Group's customer service and explained the situation, but the person we spoke to was rude. He told us that there's nothing they can do about it and that he can't comment on whatever the salesman verbally promised to us as we don't have any written proof.
MODERN SOLAR IS A TOTAL RIP-OFF. PLEASE DO NOT REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKES WE DID WHEN WE LET THAT SALESMAN COME INTO OUR HOUSE. THEIR SOLAR SYSTEM IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY.

our electricity bills for the 12 months before and the fact that we only just got airconditioning installed, he advised that the 1.6KW system would be sufficient with 8 panels. We were advised that our bill will drop to about 10/20% of what we previously paid. I enquired about the cost and adding panels in future and I was told yes, we can add them at a cost of about $300 each. After our first full bill, I rang up to advise that our bill was only about half the cost. They said it was because of less UV during the cooler months etc. After a year, I complained again. This time they said it was because we are not using it correctly. Given that we run the dishwasher, washing machine, oven, etc during the day, and there are only two of us who almost never use the aircon and generally sit in one room with one TV on at night, I was very disappointed. Again they used the excuse of electricity prices increasing, etc. We have done all we can to save power usage at night and we use minimal power during the day. We don't even have a dryer and we even bought a new fridge. Our bill has never dropped below about 50%. So after spending $4580, we decided to get more panels added on. When I phoned up, they told us that we had the maximum panels for the size system we have. It has put a bitter pill in my mouth and I am hoping that I can prevent a lot of people from spending double the amount for a product that Modern claim to be supperior to all other Solar products. My next email will be to the Ombudsman. They were also very rude on the phone when I rang them. I wish we shopped around as we could of got a German made 5KW system with 20 panels for under $4000 without having to advertise for 6 months.

Not worth it – My Mum had 5 industrial sized panels installed. The sales rep assured us that her electricity bill would be halved. The cost was $6,500. 3 years down the track, Mum who is a pensioner, had saved around $70. I emailed and posted off a complaint on behalf of my Mum, Modern solar denied receiving either. Mum no longer lives at the house, but i am still appalled at Mum being ripped off and ignored. I would not recommend Modern solar, at all. Show details

it over the phone, she said they needed to SHOW us the information and check our bills for energy usage, it was important that both my husband and I be available, I explained that he was in hospital and would not be present for the meeting, it was me alone or nothing..OK.....she books a date.
Sales consultant arrives and he asks if my husband is going to be joining us as this needs to be a decision for both homeowners. I explain the to him that my husband was unwell and would not be joining us. He explains to me that it is very important for him to be here. As I told the consultant on the phone it would be impossible to meet with him as he is unwell and it is not possible for him to sit through a 2 hour meeting.
I had done some research and received another very competitive quote but as Moderns were going to offer what he made appear to be a superior system at a slightly higher price, I was sold on the quality of their products and the history of Moderns Group. I leveled with him and told him it was more than I expected at that price....he noted this and said the he would call his boss...the call seemed rehearsed and the price came down with a full no deposit interest free financing offer... The catch...I had to sign up right there and then to get the great deal.
So I signed on his ipad a contract without the ability to read it.
I have a double story house and I am aware that the workcover requires full scaffolding so I quiz him on this and he tells me that it shouldn't be any problem he's costed it into the contracted price. I say aloud that thats awesome. I point out that he has noted my house as single storey, he says thanks for that and th at he'll fix it up.
I also ask about the electricity meter and he tells me it should just be a reprogramming fee the at I will be billed for by Synergy. I'm wary as there two potential discrepancies - but is it this sales guy or the other company's salesman - but alas I already signed the contract.
Iit was only when Synergy arrived, installed and billed a totally new meter did I realise the extent of the unscrupulous nature and moral corrupness Moderns Group encourages from its representatives.
So after doing further research I found many others across the Country have fallen for the same salescon/scam as I did, however their outcomes were quite different.
I made several followup calls to the head of the Solar depart, as the install date I was given passed, who very abruptly told me that someone was supposed to give me a ring and that there was no way that Moderns could install at that contracted price. That the scaffolding would need to be paid for. I told him that was not my problem but for Moderns to come up with a way to install the contracted product at the contracted price seeing as works had already commenced. He said how I could think that. I explained that Moderns submitting the paperwork and procuring Synergy to complete the works on the meter Moderns had effectively commenced the project.
He huffed and gruffed, said there was nothing more he could do, goodbye and hung up the phone. I made several more attempts until June 2017 but by then my messages were going unreturned. With my husbands illness progressing, I no longer had the time pursue. I even called up the salesguy who sold me the system in a last ditch effort, he said he would get back to me....still waiting...it's now October 2017.
So with the Electricity price is soaring upwards, Ive missed the rebates and the cost of the new meter, as well as Synergy reporting usage at double what we were using in the previous year...is the ACCC or any Government body investigating, has a Taskforce or Committee been convened, a Referendum or ABS Survey conducted???
Ive been well and truely scammed...Honour and Integrity are not words that exist for the Moderns Group.

my wife and I fell for this statement. In summer, lucky to get $80.00 off our bill, and in winter, averages $35.00. Only for the WA rebate of 40 cents per unit does it have any effect on our Electricity Bills. Installed in 2009, and every time I receive my bill, I am constantly reminded of the $14,000 I spent thinking I would never receive another electricity bill. Govt Rebate of $10,000 also. After todays conversation with Modern, I know at least one woman that has had her eyes open a little. Modern Solar Management care nothing for customer satisfaction as over 4 years I have expressed my disgust and I receive little sympathy. In fact, the woman who phoned today was very sympathetic. Still doesn't fix my Electricity bills though. SO buyer beware,
