Comprehensive research but beware of their ratings – Having subscribed to Morningstar Australia for well over 10 years I have found their research on individual stocks to be useful in attaining financial details that would otherwise take me some time and research to accumulate. However I take their "star ratings" with a grain of salt, particularly the stocks they rate 5 stars , some of which defy common financial sense and have subsequently behaved accordingly , declining substantially in value. I believe this is due to the quality of analysts that they employ. Some of their company reviews are outdated and contain errors that should be picked up by simple proof reading by the responsible researcher before going online, others contain opinions that are naive and indicate little to no knowledge of business management and industry trends. To summarise, their research is worth subscribing to but I would never rely on their analyst's opinions , far better to form your own opinion and use in conjunction with other analysis from a professional research organisation.
