I am so disappointed. Three
After using THREE different pest control devices (this naturgard bomb, mortein powergard cockroach bait, and mortein surface spray) NONE WORKED! Firstly I bombed the inside of the couch with two naturgard bombs (yes the inside, as there was a hole in it from where the cockroaches were nesting) then I used the surface spray to get any leftover roaches the bomb hadn't gotten and finally I left the bait just to make sure any survivors died. I was wrong, still infested with these disgusting german cockroaches. Keep in mind the infestation I had was...not as bad as some, they were not crawling all over me whilst I watched t.v on the couch but at night the black baby roaches would be on the walls and the nymphs would be on the ceilings and I saw 5-12 roaches in total each night and yet these mortein devices still did not work. Waste of money. Plus the mortein surface spray doesn't function properly so I had to pour it into another spray bottle and use that and it would still take about 10-20 sprays until the roach would die. These german roaches breed like crazy so I need to nip it in the but, these were not the products for me. In fact I think the egg, boric acid and sugar bait method or the peanut butter and borax bait method would have worked more efficiently in killing these pests. I am going to try it soon.
DIY Pest Control that works
After having an expensive, but very poor experience with a local pest control company, I resorted to trying to fix a cockroach infestation myself. Having small children, I picked up some of the Naturgard Control Bombs, which (allegedly) are more sensitive to small children and pets than the regular Mortein bombs. And also unlike the regular Mortein bombs, the Naturgard ones work a treat!
After using the Naturgard ones in March 2016, we found nothing but dead and dying roaches and insects of all manner for about 2 weeks. After that, we were ...pest free for nearly eight months! The second treatment in early-2017 worked equally well. We again used the Control Bombs just before Christmas 2017. This time, and I attribute this to the insidious heat that plagued Sydney over the Christmas/New Year period, we did find an above average number of insects, particularly cockroaches which needed an extra squirt of Baygon (when compared with the number of insects found following previous uses). When compared to other equivalent Mortein products, the Naturgard range is slightly more expensive, but overall, it does a much better job than some professional pest control services, which are often ten times more expensive.
