This sunscreen contains octocrylene and there is scientific debate that it is unsafe and is an endocrine disrupter. It seems there is agreement on fact that it breaks down into a carcinogen!! Check out the contents yourself on the free yuka food and cosmetics app. I scan everything on this now as it is referenced so you can validate.

I’m appalled consumers have to do their own research and that government regulation is poor on what people can sell us as a natural product when it is in fact dangerous or there is a lack of research to prove it’s not.

I won’t buy any Natio products.

Follow-up  · I won’t use it due to unhealthy additives. I used the free yuka app to find an alternative so bought moogoo sunscreen which has no nadties.

Natio

Dear Laney, Thanks for raising your concerns about our sunscreens. We would like to assure you that all Natio products are developed in accordance with the strict regulations set by the Australian regulatory authorities, including the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and NICNAS (now AICIS). Our formulations are carefully assessed to ensure ingredient safety, quality, and efficacy for topical application.

While we appreciate digital tools such as Yuka that aim to inform consumers, we note that the app’s ingredient scoring systems may sometimes lack context or nuance. In particular, it may not fully account for critical factors such as:

- Ingredient concentration (% used in formulation)

- Intended use and mode of application (e.g. rinse-off vs. leave-on)

-Scientific consensus from peer-reviewed toxicological and dermatological studies

-Formulation interactions that influence ingredient behaviour or stability

In some cases, ingredients flagged as concerning by such apps are in fact widely accepted as safe within regulated thresholds and when used appropriately.

We appreciate you taking the time to flag this and welcome open, science-based discussion about formulation safety. Transparency and consumer trust are essential to us, and your feedback helps us continue to uphold both.

Thank you again for your interest in our products and for supporting Australian-made, cruelty-free skincare.
