Has been part of the family – I bought my neato 10 years ago a signature series,it’s getting a bit tired now.It has done a great job in all that time.It has gone from wooden floor to thick carpet rugs with ease, love how it cleans right up to the edges of the walls. In this time has had a new brush and 3 battery replacements, not bad for 10 years. He will now go to my daughters small apartment, where I’m sure he will be happy. Now in the process of choosing a new one. Show details

Buyer beware – It does not climb onto rugs from hardwood floors. Dog hair clogs it up, so the dirt won't go into the tray. Already replaced a belt on it and it is only a year old. It is terrible about getting stuck under furniture. It is really bad about letting you know the bin is full. This is the worst sweeper I have ever owned. Show details

Neato really doesn’t care about Australian market, so you’re better off buying a different brand – I had one of their first model for almost 10 years. It lasted for that long just because I’m an engineer and could fix things myself. I also bought the Botvac Connected model a couple of years ago. Botvac Connected model died after two years. I can’t say that it is reliable, since I had to repair it every year. After one year of using,… Read more

everything has started falling apart, wheels, brush, dust bin, navigation. You name it. However, the most ridiculous thing is the way how Neato treats Australian customers. We don’t exist for them. The products are unreasonably overpriced and cost at least $500-600 more than in the US. There will be limited or no support from Neato, if you buy thief products from the US. I’ve recently contacted Neato and tried to arrange shipping of the new model to Australia. However, my request was brushed off, and I was clearly advised that they have no interest in Au market.

My advice is, look at the other brands. There’re some other options that are even more advanced and cheaper. I’ve decided to move on an switch to Ozmo 950

My new favourite appliance – My Neato is a godsent. My home has floorboards, carpet and tiles and the Neato is great for all of them. It maps the house out and manouvres its way around furniture with ease. When it needs to recharge, it makes it’s way back to the dock, charges, then picks up where it left off to finish the clean. The dirt bin is quite small, but if you set… Read more

it to run every day, I find that it’s big enough to do the house. I have 2 Labradors who drop A LOT of hair and it picks up after them well. I still use my Dyson vacuum on the carpet, but only once a week and that’s only for a deep clean to pick up all the dog hair. If you don’t have pets that drop hair, the Neato would probably be fine on it’s own.

The only thing that’s missing is the ability to set zones for cleaning specific areas rather than the whole house. I believe this is available on the more expensive models.

I set it to run each day when the house is empty and it’s so nice to come home to clean floors. The app works well to schedule cleans, or you can open it from anywhere and start the vacuum cleaning (as long as the vacuum is connected to your home WiFi)

Just beware of cords that hang down (eg phone chargers that aren’t being used) as they sometimes get caught up in the vacuum and it stops. It’s easy to fix, just a pain if you’re not home.

This is my first robot vacuum and I am definitely converted to this way of life!

Does What The Manufactures Say – We got this 4 days ago. We don't have kids, no pets and the wife has short hair, so our house is fairly clean. WE do have a 4 bedroom house, carpet and tiles on one level. The Botvac DC00 completes the whole house in 3 hours on ECO mode, requiring a charge after 115 minutes. This charge tops it up to around 80%, it then heads out to where it let… Read more

off and then completes the rest of the house. The map/floor plan is updated on my phone to show where it has been, square meters cleaned, total time taken and total charging time. The map is fairly accurate and is a good feature. Notifications are sent to my phone when the full house is completed. It can be started from your phone, if you are at the pub or anywhere you have an internet connection. Seems to clean well, Not as good as a 240 volt vac cleaner of coarse. The bin is not huge so I clean it and the filter when it goes back for a charge. Also it has found the charger base on every occasion so far. Fairly easy to set up the wifi, can't get into too much strife. Gave it 4 stars because there is always room for improvement with anything! My problems are 1, that the filter is not washable and I can see this clogging within a month, and 2, it does bump its way around a bit and its not real elegant getting out of corners. Seems to have a bit of trouble with our bed height and almost gets stuck every time. The cleaning logic first completes a 4 metre by 4 metre perimeter and then fills it in, then progresses to the next 4 metre section. For example, It may do half the kitchen and half the dinning room as part of its 4 meter square, the remainder, is always completed at some stage that day. So far we are happy. I have it scheduled for 3 cleaning days a week, should be enough to maintain our house.

Update 5/4/18 The filter has clogged. The ones on ebay are not genuine and have an unknown micron rating, consequently they are cheap. Genuine filters are around $60 for two. So I removed the plastic pre filter that was glued on and cleaned out the fine lint in the pleated section. I pinched a Razza Matazz sheer knee hi 15 denier stocking from the wife and put the filter inside it. This works great. Only a very small amount of fine dust gets past the stocking to the pleated section now. A nice recent upgrade feature on the D7 is virtual no go boundaries, much better than the magnetic strip that is supplied with the DC00. In Oz, we don't have the D7, so hopefully in the near future, Neato will give us this software upgrade. Spot cleaning using the phone gives a large 4x4 metre section. Spot cleaning on the robot only gives a 2x2 metre section, and the robot only returns to the start point, not the base. Update. 24/3/20. Laser died, stopped spinning. Over the last 2 years I found the Iaser or Lidar as its callled technically, overrided the bump stop, so if the laser could see through a glass sliding door or mirror wardrobe it would still push to try to get there, even though the bump stop has activated. Was very bad also with kitchen chairs because it could see past the legs. Frustrating to watch all 6 chairs get pushed around. Lucky we had 2 years product care on top of 12 months standard warranty. It nearly always cleaned the whole house. The cleaning map sent to my phone was always accurate. I most likely get another, but get D7.

Excellent little machine! – Our first Neato lasted four years with only one battery replacement and one roller replacement required. Works very well on hardwoods and carpets. Large enough dustbin for daily cleans. Second machine recently purchased is more powerful and quicker to return to charging station. We are very happy with our machine. Show details

Third time lucky – Our first Neato Connected failed after about a year or so, which made me devastated as I relied on it so much. We searched the market at the time and couldn't find any other model that has decent size dust bin. I bit my lips went back to buy another Neato Connect. The second botvac failed after a month, which we brought back to Harvey Norman, who… Read more

replaced us with a new one. This time the botvac worked so well without any hitch for more than a year now. I realised that we didn't change the filter often enough the first time. We now change the filter monthly.

We have floorboards and rugs which the botvac clean reasonably well, it picks up lots of the dogs hair and climb over obstacles like table feet etc without any problem. Very happy that we finally find the one.

clearance around it. Trouble shot with techs, yep no good for a small house or apartment. Unless you have nothing in it!! Have had connection issues, had to reconnect it a few times. Gets lost or stuck in the middle of a clear space in a room. Dont leave clothes or cords on floor. You have to be clean for it to clean! We have dogs and it picks up the hair, dirt etc quite well. So when it works its great. Goes over most changes in surface. We only use the basics as stated before floor plan cant be used.

Great vacuum, terrible quality – Bought the Botvac D in Sept 2016. It required fixing and 2 new batteries before the entire unit was replaced in Feb 2018 because the navigation system died. Replaced another battery that year and now the wheel drive has died on the replacement unit. Neato robotics (Dean in Dublin) thinks 3 years is a reasonable build quality for a $1000 machine and refuses to replace it. Show details

Bad quality, poor service – On the 16/9/2017 I bought at MYERS a Neato D8500 Botvac Robotic cleaner. It worked satisfactorily until June 2018. I contacted then the agents of Neato listed in the warranty. I was told by a representative, when requesting repair under warranty, that the warranty was almost over and that the battery was not covered. I managed to get the unit… Read more

serviced under warranty. It came back, it worked one day and then failed. It took 3 tries over several weeks to get it fixed. In September 2018 It started playing-up intermittently about one failure every couple of weeks. A reset would clear the fault so being out of warranty I put up with it. By December 2018 the battery held hardly any charge. I purchased a new battery on 04/01/19 at a cost of $139.95. In March 2019 unit died completely. Sent it for repairs to a company interstate (the same one I bought the battery from). 2 weeks later no communication from this company. I e-mailed them on 03/04/19. Their answer “Yes, it is here, we will be looking at it early next week.” One month later nothing, so another e-mail. Their answer (verbatim) “Sorry, I thought we had sent the quote for this; it has just been sent.” Cost of repair: $330. I proceeded with the repair. Finally, on the 17/05/19 it arrived. The battery was dead, not flat but dead. Obviously, if they tested the unit it wasn’t with this battery. I ordered another battery from different supplier before contacting the repair company to test the unit first with another battery. After about a week without problems I contacted the repair company explaining what happened and demanded a new free replacement battery. Of course, I got no battery, no apologies, just that “all units are tested after repairs”. Conclusion: From my above experience only buy products from companies that are established here in Australia and have their own service departments. If not, when a product fails after the warranty expires dump it and buy a new one.

DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM - they will die within the first year - NO warranty support from Neato – I have had two Neato Botvac Connected robots - both failed after a short time. They get into some state whereby they leave the dock and loop through power-up and power-down cycles, then "Please press Ok to continue". Once this starts, they will never run a cleaning cycle again.
