5 niels E.  · I like it – Very nice! This brings me happiness. Ignore the haters pls.
1 Thomas  · Terrible new taste – Bitter and bad. Hate it. And I happened to buy four jars.
2 Jack  · Long standing customer now looking for alternative! – Something has changed with flavour; don't enjoy it anymore nor dark coffee ground residue.
1 Rid  · New brew – It taste like mud ,leaves a sludge in the bottom of the cup ,why change something that doesn’t need to change
1 Bob  · Horrible – Powdery. Bitter. Crap. Bought original and intense.both horrible. Made in Korea. Never again.. Go to reject shop still stock original.
1 Enid  · Disappointing – No coffee aroma, terrible taste, bring back the old recipe.

Taste is variable over the last few years. I settled on drinking freeze dried coffee some years ago and moved from Blend 43 to Gold. It has been good. However I am now being priced out of the market with a 200g bottle of Gold costing about $23. The 400g refill in a bottle was discounted to $15-17 at Colesworth and is now discounted to $26. Will be moving now to coffee beans and french press as I am not interested in barista machines or pods. Show details

I am thoroughly disappointed in Nescafe Gold Original. No longer does it taste at all smooth like it used to. I am updating my review which I submitted when I bought 2 large jars of Nescafe Gold. I am pleased to say that I have since found another brand of coffee that has just been stocked by one of our large supermarkets and it is 100%… Read more

Arabica. I don't think I am able to state the brand name here or the name of the supermarket, however, it should be hard to find because it is one of our 2 main supermarkets. They have a new brand of coffee they are selling for $6 for a jar of 100% pure Arabica. On the label it says: Medium Roast, 100% Arabica instant coffee, Brazilian beans.

Totally Gutted – I've been a Customer of this Product for decades. It's my go to each and everyday. It's how my day begins. I even take it with me overseas on Holidays. I'm totally gutted that this Product has changed for the worst, for what seems to me to be for NO reason at all. I always have two 400g Jars at any given time. I bought the last GOLD Jar and had to… Read more

buy my 2nd Jar which was the New Smoother Taste from Coles. Curious, I opened the New Smoother Taste once home. I couldn't believe it. It smelt and tastes completely different, obviously because it is, and not for the better. I actually compared the two. So disappointed and far from impressed, if the GOLD ORIGINAL isn't made available to me, I'll definitely be changing my Brand of Coffee and telling anyone and everyone what to expect with this so called New B Grade want to be Product. Totally Gutted!!!

Nice everyday option – I really enjoy this as an everyday instant coffee option. I have tried others to try and mix it up but I always end up back with Nescafe Gold Original. I find it smooth without bitterness almost like a caramel undertone. We have a coffee machine but I find I always reach for this option instead. The only thing is I am finding it harder to find the refill packs so I have resorted to buying on Amazon. Show details

One of the best instant coffees out there IMHO – While I am a sucker for a proper barista made cappuccino or a flat white, it is not always practical to get one. This is by far my favourite instant coffee, providing it is NOT made with boiling water. It is sufficiently good that I drink it black and without sugar (Though I have been known to top it off with milk and hot chocolate powder!). For… Read more

a big mug as pictured below for (in my opinion) best results I tend to use a heaped tsp/3g of coffee and 80 degree water for a smooth taste. Then I top it off with a tiny bit of cold water (or milk). Note: If the hot water added is much over 80 degrees when added to the coffee, I find it adversely affects the flavour even after it has cooled down. I also drink the Gold Decaf (prepared in the same way as above) and it is very close to the taste of the Gold Original which is good because if I drink too much caffeine in a day I get a pounding headache.

Why (try to) fix what's not broken?! – I literally used to say to people that, if I were stranded on a desert island, the one thing I would want to have with me was my Gold Blend! Not anymore, it's just God-awful now! There is little I can add to what others have said. The full aroma has gone, along with the taste and even the look i.e there is now filthy sediment floating in the… Read more

bottom of my mug. Nestles tried to change the formula previously but ended up switching back. Hopefully, this will happen again. They could even base a marketing campaign on the back of it, along the lines of Classic-Coke, if they had any sense. Though, going by their decision to change in the first place, sense is in very short supply at that company.

Value – So many complaints but honestly i absolutely love it. Coffee snobs look away now but i enjoy this as much as anything i get from a cafe and i get hundreds of coffees for the price of just a few cafe coffees. Bargain.

Great taste – I don’t drink instant coffee often, but when I do I drink this. Smooth taste and easy to use. Even add it to my morning protein shakes to wake me up. Not too shabby!

So Delicious – I'm a HUGE coffee fan and just love Nescafe Gold original. I love how they have different strength to choose from, I personally am not a fan of strong coffee so the original is just perfect and absolutely delicious ! I LOVE waking up to my morning coffee. Highly recommend !

Horrendous – The taste is bitter metallic. It’s awful. I literally don’t want the jar I just brought. I’ve tried to drink it but after 3 cups I give up. I’d rather drink a cheap alternative. Even the smell when you break the seal is awful like chemicals mixed with coffee. It’s so expensive I was upset. You’ve completely ruined it changing the recipe. This is… Read more

If it's not broken WHY FIX IT!!!!! – If it's not broke don't fix it!!!!! Original is exactly that, don't make it smoother, it is not then original!!! The flavour is boring!!!! For years I have had Nescafe Gold Original, I love the flavour, the smell, it is ORIGINAL....Then rather than make an off shoot of the product, you change the Original!!! I just bought 2 jars praying it's the same or better...NOPE....it is boring, bland and like water!!!! Going elsewhere!!!! Show details

The best coffee - no longer – After drinking Nescafé Gold for so many years, having several cups each day, it was this morning that I mentioned to my partner that I wasn't enjoying it anymore. I thought perhaps the coffee had gone off, even though it was a new jar. My partner agreed with me and we have realised that it must be that the product has changed. I went online to see… Read more

Define "Original" – A few years ago Nescafe Gold Original was 100% Arabica. Then they changed it to an Arabica/Robusta blend but it was still quite decent. Now they have made it "smooth" and it is pretty darn terrible. Certainly not "original" in any way shape or form. How about original stays original? Not a difficult concept. Make as many new products as you like but leave original alone.

Why why – Why change something that was good in the first place, the coffee is terrible now, i buy the big 400gr jar, for the price i pay for it i am really disappointed in it. WAS my favourite instant coffee – Have been drinking Original Nescafe Gold for decades. So disappointed when they made it "smooth". You have to use more to get some sort of flavour. Perhaps thought people would be buying more as going through it faster. But that has backfired as I will now be trying other brands for a better flavoured coffee and switching, so not purchasing at all. Why change something that didn't need fixing, Nescafe?? Show details

Was the best - now very bad – I used to love my Nescafe Gold, but when I bought a new jar a few weeks ago I got VERY dissapointed. It smells awful and the taste is not even close to as good as it was. I threw it out because I was sure it had gotten mouldy or gotten bad somehow. I bought a new big jar, and it tastes the same, so clearly the product has changed to the worse. Very dissapointing :( Show details

Absolute rubbish it’s been weakened down – My wife and I only drink Nescafé gold blend because of its strength and lately the coffee has got a lot weaker and it’s no where near the strength as before . Trust me we have only drunk this for 25 years and now we have to go elsewhere as it’s absolutely horrible . Please don’t think you can mess with it and expect us consumers to be fooled by your penny pinching and treat us like absolute idiots .

Ruined Forever – I WAS a loyal Nescafe Gold coffee drinker, generally 4 cups a day for many years, it was a treat in between housework and looking after children. found that this experience has been shared by many. Fortunately, other sufferers suggested Coles Organic Fairtrade and I made the switch after throwing out my jar of foul Nescafe Gold “Original” and getting a credit back on an unused jar in the cupboard. Thank goodness there is an alternative, I can’t believe how long I put up with the other rubbish for. Tastes great, gentler on the stomach and less expensive. I recommend Coles Fairtrade Organic.
