Performs poorly on WiFi 5, only 35mbps download possible even when standing next to it. Wifi 4 better at 60mbps, suitable for WiFi 6 devices and ethernet connections. Show details

Was supplied this router by Aussie Broadband, it has been the worst router I’ve ever had, it’s coverage is terrible, it drops out during video calls even while sitting next to it. Only good for Ethernet connections and that’s it. I’ve reached out to ABB to refund me and take its even worse satellites back. Avoid this router at all costs just go… Read more

source a more reputable brand one…

If you work from home you better have an Ethernet port on that laptop and the router close by or a long Ethernet cable.

Not good for wifi coverage – The Netcom NF18MESH router is quite good in hard-wired mode ie via an Ethernet connection. It’s relatively easy to install and configure. Where it falls down is in its wireless performance. Wifi connected devices have to be within a very few metres to get reasonable performance. At distances greater than 4 or 5 metres the wifi speed drops… Read more

exponentially. Because of this I also bought the NS-01 Mesh satellite to improve the wifi coverage in my house. Also very easy to install but it didn’t help. The satellite was setup approximately 6 metres from the router but couldn’t hold a signal at this distance - much less strengthen it. Doing simple speed tests with my phone showed the wifi speed actually dropped, rather than increased, when using the satellite.

For a start, the manual is useless – You can search an item and find it but then it gives you NO IDEA how to find that setting in the router! The manual needs to show BREADCRUMBS or at the least SCREENSHOTS of the whole router interface so you know where each setting is. Without having to read back 10 pages to know how to navigate there. The essence of stupid and selfish… Read more

documentation. Simple example (see pic): I want to check 'Network Isolation (AP Isolation)' is off. I manage to find the (apparently) relevant section called 'Device Isolation'. But there is no clue anywhere nearby WHERE in the dozens of settings this is. WHO DOES THIS?! So angry at the waste of time and confusion.

Modem is almost useless after only 3 years-company out of business now – Purchased in April 2021 as advised by Tangerine. This modem has been nothing but trouble for past several months with constant tech support needed from my ISP, NetComm went into administration in March this year-2024-so can't even call them up about malware in modem now that no one can remove. My last modem was an OPTUS one and was still going… Read more

strong with no issues after 12 years but Tangerine said not compatible when I changed to them. Don't buy this modem as company no longer exists. Tangerine stated only 2 year warranty anyway so they are refusing to replace with another modem regardless of this one having almost chronic issues.

Waste of Money – Terrible range and constant drop outs- it was the suggested model with NBN plan via Tangerine telecom. I made the mistake of trusting their recommendation, as had no desire to learn all about router/modem functionality. Wont make the same mistake twice and will be BYO after some research. Show details

this is the worst internet i have ever bought (for gaming and phone usage) – I use to have d-link internet and I use to run at 0-10 ping (on Fortnite, siege, etc.) but I switched to Netcomm and it is the worst internet you could ever buy, do not recommend DO NOT BUY THIS INTERNET, it is a waste of money. If i could give zero stares i would. Show details

Rubbish modems don't bother – OK since moving to Aussie Broadband i have had two of these modems. The second one I bought because I thought the first one was so faulty that it just must have been a lemon. But the second one is pretty much the same. VPN drop outs, device connection issues etc etc. Just rubbish and don't waste your time. Show details

Abyssmal Performance – This has got to be the absolute worst router that I've had the privilege of using. There's a constant disconnect between some of my devices and at most I will be receiving two bars of signal strength when I'm in a room just across from the router.

It’s an okay modem but a bad wireless router – The modem is fine: sync speeds match what the ISP suggests the line is capable of. After rebooting the modem syncing takes minutes, though. The wireless performance is abysmal. I use it in bridge mode to give my Ubiquiti Dream Router internet access and let the UDR do everything else. Show details

Total Garbage – When we changed from NBN FTTN to "proper" NBN FTTP we were supplied this modem/router by the ISP. Total garbage, as we had it running purely as a router, and were using a new expensive ASUS mesh system for the wireless connections. Throughout the day the internet would constantly drop out, and then re-connect in 10-60 seconds later. Happened on… Read more

the ipads, phones and computers. To start with I thought it was the asus mesh, but I turned that off, and turned on the netcomm wifi and the same thing happened, so obviously a Netcomm issue. The ISP were not to helpful, so I threw it in the bin and bought a TP Link 2100V and so far not a single drop out. A total waste of $150 and going into landfill (or to be recycled if possible!)

Kept dropping out and bad Apple connectivity – Poor product from the start. Have replaced it with Netgear AX1800 and connection is now flawless and works with all my Apple products

Poor quality – This came with an AGL NBN plan. Have since binned it, well shelved it. Never stayed connected. 10 second drop outs was very common, even through Ethernet connection. Show details

Does not follow wifi channel settings upon power cycle – Works fine most of the time, but this device do not follow what I set as when it is power cycled (mostly due to power outtage). For example, let's say I set the channel as 1 and saved it. A while later if it gets power cycled for any reason, it's not going to set the channel to 1, but something else as if it is still set as auto. Show details

WIFI is the worst – This is my 3rd modem in 8 months, I have constant issues with the WIFI dropping off devices or you get really bad latency and the only way to get it to work is walk close to the modem. I have tried turning the band steering off to have 2 separate networks however this only seemed to make the problem worse as a lot of devices could no longer find… Read more

the network unless I did a reboot of them modem then they could connect. Every time the modem has a issue I log in to it to see what is going on, I have 2 wired devices connected and the modem has 4 wired ports however it sometimes it will show I have 5 or 6 wired devices connected which is impossible as there are not this many ports... I just want a refund to buy a better modem however they wont refund me.

Comes with being with AGL – Currently experiencing constant outage of wifi at random times. The ethernet cable will still have internet, but no one will be able to connect with their phones or tablets. Sometimes fixed by turning on off, sometimes fixed by waiting it out. Absolutely terrible WiFi – This router was supplied by my ISP and I then bought the satellite to extend coverage. From the beginning we suffered drop outs on calls, whether FaceTime/Skype or Telstra WiFi calling, drop outs on internet radio and devices disappearing randomly off the network and slow loading of web pages. Call drop outs happened all the time, rarely able to… Read more

complete a call without having to redial. Devices that had dropped off the network often needed to be manually reconnected. Resetting the router made no difference. Tried to update firmware but the router kept reverting to the old version. Several days with tech support got that sorted, but it made no difference to drop outs or WiFi stability. Eventually after 6 weeks of trying, tech support admitted defeat. I bought a Netgear Orbi set up, put the NetComm into bridge mode and turned its WiFi off. Result? Absolute heaven - fast web page load, no call drop outs and internet radio plays seamlessly. Consequently I can only give the NF18 1 star, because it does at least work as a dumb modem, just not to be trusted to handle WiFi.
